Rearth Ringke Fusion & Slim - Black - Nexus 5 Accessories

Hello,
I received my ringke fusion and slim cases today and took a bunch of pictures for others to use and help make their decisions.
Fusion:
Bigger, therefore adds more bulk and protection also the buttons are easy to press. It's easier to remove but the uglier of the two. The back of the Fusion is especially ugly imo
Slim:
Slimmer (duh) adds very little weight to the n5, almost unnoticeable. Much harder to remove (like much, much harder). When i tried to remove the slim case, it hooked the bottom of the n5 right where the back soft touch panel meets the frame. The slim case also has a really basic design, the back feels similar to the back of the n5 but there is nothing except the ringke slim logo. I wouldve at least liked to see something else. Even copy the nexus logo on the back or something.
Caution: I'm not sure if this is just an issue with my slim case but the bottom of the slim case is not finished well. It has some sharp edges that are annoying to deal with when touching the bottom of the case - see pictures
These are just my opinions.

I have pretty much the same one. Mine just says "JKase." It's a good case. Looks cool, adds good grip, and it's more like soft plastic than silicon. Doesn't add a ton of protection, but it keeps the back safe from basic stuff. I'd recommend it. Better than carrying an OtterBox brick around.
I have an unnamed 1. Fits perfectly. Easy access to everything. Makes the volume & power buttons easier to press but less tactile. Can still be used with a Kidigi docking station without having to remove the case. Also stops the phone from slipping when propping it up on shiny surfaces.

I also bought the JKase one (clear). It saved me from a face down fall on wood the other day. Anyone know where I can get a nice smoke transparent case?

Gotta find a transparent one. I love seeing the VM and Beats logos, but the clear one is a little... I can't put my finger on it. Almost feels childish.

I know what you mean. I've only had mine for 2 weeks, and it's turning yellow.
i'm using a tpu hybrid case, sides of the case are tpu and the back of the case is a hard plastic, overall it's pretty good. But because the back is solid plastic it slides around on a hard surface.

I got my TigerBox from Amazon.co.uk for £1.99. Transparent soft/hard case hybrid (reduced from £20) and its great. Buttons are a lot easier to press down on, even the notification light is accessible. I'd recommend one.

These are the same as the one I ordered on ebay. Mine was a smokey grey color, with access to all buttons and the LED notification light was bright enough to shine through the gel case with ease.
Highly recommended style of case for the HOV ^_^
I have a purple JKase and it adds grip and has protected my phone quite well from a number of falls.
I also purchased a much bigger case with a kick-stand and this one however has an even better grip (probably because it doubles the phone's thickness and adds significantly to all its other dimensions.

SGP Neo Hybrid

Just got my nexus 5 and the SGP Neo Hybrid in on the same day and I must say this case duo is amazing! It covers the phone perfectly and protects the screen and camera when placing it down on a flat surface.

how do the buttons feel? do the metallic buttons have any play? When you press them, can you feel the actual click of the button?
I bought a neo hybrid case for a different phone about a year ago and while it did make the phone look great, it didn't last very long. The case was two pieces... A tpu case and a plastic frame that went over that to secure the tpu to the device. I'm not sure if this case for the N5 works in the same way so I'm hesitant to buy it. What ended up happening to my old case is the plastic frame eventually broke and I'm hoping that won't be the case for this one. Can you tell me if this may be a problem with this one too?

my guess is that as long as you don't constantly take it off and on and put any unnecessary stress on the plastic frame, it should be fine and last at least a year.

They did fix it for the Galaxy S4 with a revision (the area around the port charger) since the plastic is thinnest there. This one... doesn't look like they attempted on preventing the same issue.

Again I want this case too. I love how it looks. But I already own 2 for the 2 Galaxy S4, one which had the area snapped around the port charger, and both had their paint finish starting to bubble and peel.
Looks great! I've got my Neo Hybrid case sitting on the counter in the packaging, waiting for my Nexus 5 to arrive Thursday. It's gonna be a long 3 days of waiting.

I find the case uncomfortable to hold. Edges dig into the hands a little. I received the fix from I case also and it fit perfect and follows the phone contours better. Just my opinion though.

Buttons feel good, it has that 'tick' to it. A bit sensitive on the power button side, but it doesn't accidently get pressed on. Just doesn't require a lot of effort to push it in.

I wasn't sure what to say because this phone is bigger but yeah it doesn't offer much grip.
In terms of it holding up, I sure hope that it does, I saw that they had a 90-day warranty on the case so we'll see what happens. The back doesn't leave any fingerprints. I will say this for sure, the phone feels REALLY REALLY REALLY good without a case on.

Yeah, this is why I'm so excited about the Neo Hybrid with the silver edging. I love the look and feel of the official LG bumper on my nexus 4 and was hoping to replicate it with the Nexus 5. The Neo Hybrid is EXACTLY what I've been looking for.

Its exactly what it is and has more protection with the extra piece inside. From what I can tell (im charging the phone right now) it doesnt touch the outer piece or cause any pressure to it. Theres a gap between them (very minor but enough that it doesnt pressure it).

I'm not sure I am following. The back of the phone doesn't touch the inside backing of the case? Or are you saying the case button covers don't pressue the phone's buttons?

Spigen Slim Armor, tons of photos and review

I have been using this case for a day now and I'm impressed. The fitment is perfect and I love the color combo. The buttons for volume and power work great, they are really easy to press and are responsive. The cut outs for speakers, USB and headphone are perfect. The case is a little more white than the phone and has a mat finish similar to the white Nexus. I will let the photos do the speaking. Sorry for all the lint of the phone.

Actually all those complaints are directed towards the Ultra Hybrid model not this Slim Armor model. That one has a clear back and slightly heavier then this slim armor.
There's also the Ultra Fit and Neo Hybrid which I'd love to see in action as well.
Just ordered this! My phone should be here before this is, but thanks for the review. I had used a Incipio case with my Galaxy S3 and that was also a dual case, the soft part and hard backing. This however seems to be a lot better. Thanks for the pictures. :good:
Great pictures, thanks for that.
I'm interested to know if the Black version of this case is glossy or matt, from the CGI mock-ups on the SPG website it seems matt, but I'm not sure.

My black one should be here tomorrow. Hoping its a matt finish. Will let you know.

Just checked the status of mine and it's in transit to my apt! Should be there when I get home from work. Looking forward to this - i've had my phone naked for 3 days now and I've had to be super careful with it
Man...I was drooling over the black/black SlimArmor a few days ago, but that white looks awesome. I think you may have just converted me to the "light side" Thanks for the pictures!
Yeah, I have the black Slim Armor. It's awesome. I did too have the problem initially with the power button being stuck, but I took the case off a few times and put it back on. Now it's perfect. To be fair, tho, only a slight tap is necessary to hit any of the buttons...they really are that easy to push and activate.

[VIDEO] Spigen Ultra Hybrid Case Review / First Look - Google Nexus 5

When I purchase a device, I'm on the search for some protection immediately. This case was available for purchase around the release date of the Nexus 5 so I jumped on it and the GLAS.tR (installed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=HIWv8zNgXpY).
For $10 I can't complain much about the case. It doesn't add too much bulk and keeps the phone safe under most situations. The buttons are easy to push, however some have mentioned they are too easy to push.
While playing games in landscape mode, it hasn't solved my personal issue with covering up the speaker on accident. A case would require a lot of padding around this area to fix that.
This case is only available through Amazon. I'll add the direct link if requested.
Thank for this video

Decent video but arrgh! the corner of your screen protector was bugging me. Did the case do that or was it already like that?
I got my case two days ago.
I must say, overall, the case is very nice.
I love the way the buttons are so easily pressed with little effort, feels great.
Only real problem I've found is that the headphone opening will not accommodate my AudioTechnica m50 over sized 3.5 mm jack. I'l started to file the opening to make it larger so I can fit my headphones plug.
A bit disappointing for a very nice case, but I can live with it.
Could anyone recommend on a good and not expensive headset that can fir with this case?

Looks like I might grab one of these.
Do you know this compares to the rearth ringke fusion (particularly the side buttons)?
I remember the ringke case for the nexus 4 was notorious for being hard to push.
Does this case get scratched easily since it's transparent and plastic I'm guessing. Also are there any other cases available with similar design just a frosted translucent back?? I'm looking for such a case for my phone

The buttons are actually really easy to push. In the beginning I almost felt the case was pushing down on the buttons. Any slight breeze of your finger over the power and it would depress. Over time I think that quit though.
I've never tried that other case.

Just asked my wife and she said it didn't scratch too easily. I'm checking out cases for the S5, and apparently not all clear backs scratch too easily. There's one company (no Nexus 5 case) that has a clear hard back with a rubbery feel too it. My 1 year old daughter test it out and it does a good job of resisting scratches.

[CASE] Spigen Ultra Hybrid or Rearth Ringke Fusion ?

Hello, i have my Nexus 5 but i have a little question.
In your opinion, what is the best case :
http://www.spigen.com/nexus-5-case-ultra-hybrid.html
or

I have already looking for these case on forum but i dont find good or bad comment.

I have the Spigen Ultra Hybrid.
I don't like how it makes your phone feel bulky and too big to fit in my pocket. It also weakens the magnetic pull of my InfiniApps Slyde CD Mount due to the clear plastic backing being really thick.
On the plus side, makes it feel like your phone is a tank and can take any drop.
Thanks you

You'll like the fusion, then. The button feel is perfect.

I was trying to decide between the two as well and ended up with the Fusion because of the button feel and being slightly thinner. I'm pretty happy with it so far, the button feel is the best of any case where there aren't cutouts for the buttons that I've ever used. Only one small complaint is that the edges of the case are kind of sharp but it really isn't bothering me that much.
I have the Ringke Fusion. I had it for my N4 as well which I liked so I figured I'd get the N5 version. Overall a pretty good case, although like cee-ach said the edges of the case are kind of sharp (wasn't like this on the N4). It's a bit annoying for me, mainly because I use LMT launcher, and when I swipe from the right edge of the screen my thumb always makes contact with the edge of the case.
I haven't tried the Ultra Hybrid but I ordered it a couple of days ago. Kinda wishing I ordered the Spigen Slim Armor instead.
Got myself the Ringke Fusion Hybrid Hard Case. Extremely light while also providing a high level of protection from bad drops and scratches. Definitely worth the $13. The only issue I have is that just below the power button side, the casing seems to be slightly loose although that didn't make any difference to the protection provided by the item itself.
Anyone else having the same issue? Any way to fix it?
My review score: 8.5/10
Would have given a 9 if not for this minor issue but it doesn't take away much
Does the ringke fusion fit snug? I heard that the spigen ultra hybrid is a bit loose and dust will collect inside the case.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk
I ended up getting the Ringke Fusion and I love it. It's very thin and light. Compared to my other case (Spigen Slim Armour), the Fusion feels more "naked" (as if I wasn't using a case). So far I've been using the Fusion a lot more now that I tried them both for a week.
Just wanted to add I've been using a Fusion Hybrid because it has solved an annoyance for me. Case-less my N5 was vibrating violently at high speaker volumes and that has completely disappeared since using the tightly fitted Fusion. Also my Shure earphones fit just fine so for those reasons I'd recommend the case.
It does have a bit of edging work that isn't 100% smooth and the headphone slot has a gap which can let in dust at the back. However that is probably why headphones fit properly.

You're right about the buttons. They are perfect. However, the rest of the case, I'm not too impressed. I have the same complaint as others about the sharp edges. It's really uncomfortable to hold it to your ear. I may try the sandpaper to knock down the edge a bit. I like that the USB port does not have a gap to the inside of the clear back but still wondering why the headphone jack does. Overall, not bad at all for an $8 case.
If Spigen fixed the buttons on the Ultra, I'd be back on that case in an instant.

I own both and they're both essentially identical, but if I had to choose it would be the Spigen because it's slightly better. I don't use either of these however.. I miss my UAG case and the closest thing to it that I could find was the Spigen Slim Armor.

My experience is quite the opposite. I wasn't happy with neither of two cases mentioned in this thread and I'm now using the slim armor. Not sure I agree with you on the "nakedness" and the slim armor basically adds no more bulk to the phone than the other cases do... I definitely feel a lot more comfortable with the slim armor case since it's not slippery.
