OK, my wife has had this phone since last September and it has just recently been suffering from some very unusual battery drain. Tonight I placed a fully charged battery in it at 9:30 pm killed all the non essential apps via menu / settings / running services. And by 11:00 it was already at 50%. What could be causing this issue? It is fully stocked and not rooted. Thanks for the help

Possibly a app that u downloaded is waking it up or an update u did recently.

I'm having similar battery drain problems with my SGS2. My phone shuts down, like empty battery power, when I'm online for a few minutes or playing a game when in fact the battery still has more than 50% stored power. This started happening a few weeks ago. I didn't download or update any app before I noticed this "phenomenon".
Anyone has an idea what could be causing this battery drain? How can I resolve this?

Thee have been a few times where my battery drained overnight where it only usually goes down like 5-6%. Both times I run found out there was either a tower down nearby or they were doing work. Check an app like badass battery moniter, it gives you a rundown of apps and modem drain.

Download system panel and see what programs are eating up CPU and using data. Also consider Wi-Fi and data toggles they save a ton of battery and turning off background data. If your still have major drain issues hope got insurance...bring it down and get a new battery.

No matter which ROM i choose wether its 2.3 based or 4.0 based, Calks or Phantom. Even CM9, Team Dirt. I always get crap battery life. ANDROID OS and ANDROID SYSTEM hog the battery!!! Why is this. The only thing that has not changed will i have been flashing all these roms is the Modem. I am currrently running FF18 Modem. Could this be the culprit? Please help guys!
The android os usage in ICS is normal. What do you consider bad battery life?
So many things affect battery life. Low signal will wipe out a battery in no time, synching multiple accounts (email, facebook is notoriously bad...) and software you may have installed. How is the battery drain when the phone is sleeping? Since there really isn't much we can do about battery while you're actually using the phone, the next step is to improve on sleep efficiency and this will help the battery life overall.
Try installing BetterBatteryStats. There is a thread here on XDA you can search for and download and install this app. The best way to use it is to let the phone sleep on battery without using it for a minimum of 2-3 hours, overnight is best. Then view the kernel and partial wakelocks to see if something isn't allowing the phone to sleep properly.
battery battery life?
Couldn't you also use multiple profiles in an OC app to undervolt and underclock the phone when it sleeps? (screen off profile set to 800MHz and screen on 1200MHz) Just a suggestion, hope this helps.
I have to charge my phone twice a day because I am on it all the time. My ave battery life 11hr 47min. Running Badass Battery Monitor.
Turn off auto sync for your Google account on your phone and manually sync it from time to time. Before I did this android was at the top of the list in the battery. Now screen time dominates everything else in usage.

Yes I did this too, it helps a lot
Yes, synching too often is a killer.
Don't forget about the phone radio too: wifi/bluetooth/gps/data/4G all can have a negative impact if left running.
Someone recently posted that at his workplace, he had zero signal and he could barely make it through the day. He discovered turning data off entirely in that scenario saved battery in a huge way.

Bad battery to me is loosing 60% over night. That's running CM9, android is and system were the dominant battery hogs when that happened. Please help. I've downloaded betterbatterystats.apk but I don't know how to use it. Please help.

If turned off LED notification and that seems to have helped.

I guess you should try downloading any battery calibration app from the market and also try battery control.... I hope it would help you..... Or the usual juice defender

So I have been using a bunch of apps today and under my battery usage it's only showing the standard stuff. I wanted to see how much battery is being drained from my live wallpaper but nothings showing..
The system battery display section doesnt display it. Use BetterBatteryStats. Search the thread for XDA bud

BetterBatteryStats is the way to go!
Hello guys, is it ok if I combine between DS battery saver and Greenify ?. And, Do they work for saving battery life?

Well I am using them together and did not see any ill effect. DS Battery Saver works only when the phone is not in use and forces the phone to deepsleep. However, Greenify works even when you are using your phone, so not only will it help you save battery, but frees your RAM too. For example, if you greenified say Google+, in principle Google+ will not run in the background as long as you do not want it.
So you can use them together. No harm.
Hey guys, I've been using my nexus 7 and one thing I noticed is that my standby for the tablet is bad like I would leave it on my table for an hour and it drains about 5 percent. I have a droid DNA and with that I usually lose ,maybe 1-2% an hour on standby while connected to WiFi. Any ideas? Also I'm using clean ROM 1.7 and elemental kernal 1.4

The usual reponse....
install one of the available Battery apps which track wake locks etc and then optimize your settings or switch to another Kernel/ROM
Which app do you recommend?

This one seems good - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.uzumapps.wakelockdetector&hl=en_GB
I am in utter AWE about the idle drain. It's almost non-existent. Carbon Rom, default kernel, with Greenify and AutoStarts, the usual tweaks. Result:
Two percent a day is "doable"
