Acelerometer doesn't work in Android 4.2.2 - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Good morning everybody, I'm new in this forum, nice to meet you
I write because three months ago I tried rooting the phone and the screen went white. Thus I had to take it to fix. The experts installed Android 4.2.2 (June) on my HTC DesireHD.
It turns out that since they installed the cooked rom, the accelerometer doesn't work and none of the phone sensors . That is, before rooting, when I turned the phone to see a photo in landscape , the mobile spinning perfectly. And also playing the games the sensors worked perfectly . Now, after installing Android 4.2.2, the sensors does not work anymore. It must be a software problem.
Do you know what happens or how to fix it if there is a known solution? Maybe there are missing drivers on my Android 4.2.2 phone?
The information about my phone is, ( in settings -> Phone Info) :
- Android version: 4.2.2
- Kernel version : [email protected] #8
- CyanogenMod Version : JellyTime_R11
Thank you very much!
Best,

Did you try to install new radio? You can try install new version of JellyTIme R11.

New radio? What do you mean? Please, specify a little bit more. :good:
How can I install JellyTIme R11?
Thank you so much

First you must download JellyTime R11 from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1778202 and GAPPS for 4.2 builds (20130301). When you downloaded R11 put it on your sd card and then turn off your phone. Hold volume button down and turn on phone. Chose recovery with your volume button you navigate and with power button you confirm your choice. In recovery you must wipe data/factory, wipe Cache, wipe Dalvik Cache. When you done chose install from sd card and select to install R11 when its done install GAPPS. After that you rebot your phone and you wait 3-5 for first time to boot. I hope that you can understand. Sorry for my english. Good luck mate!

Wait, did you unlock your bootloader or S-Off it? If you unlocked it you can't flash radios. And it doesn't sound like a radio problem anyway. What ROM did you flash? You could also just flash a working ROM. How to do that depends on whether you unlocked your bootloader.

Your device have s-on, so u cannot flash radio.. Try to flash stable rom first like arhd or rooted stock rom from development thread. If the accelerometer still does not work, it is probably hardware issues..
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium

there were similar issues like this reported. Flash stock rooted ROM (available somewhere in the forum)
Set it up, and after setup, flash the ROM of your choice.
It was documented with 4.2.2 releases that this is the fix for accelerometers

He can still flash it, even though he has an S-ON.. All he need is to use the fastboot method via ADB command, flash the boot.img first, then he can flash the jellytimeR11
Sorry, I can't collaborate, my english is not good.. Just search for it

Error while performing S-off procedure

Hello folks,
First of all I must say that Xda is best place for android user..
Ok..Here is the problem
I tried to S-Off my desire,so I downloaded AlphaRev 1.8 HBOOT reflash utility
(MD5SUM: 3ca4c4803fe1eb309c980420788ad3fe )
I verified the Md5 sum too..After that I burned it on a Cd..
I then rebooted my pc and
When it asked 'Do you want to flash alpharev Recovery?' My answer was NO
everything went fine till step 3..Where it says If you unplug, you will Brick..In this step I got some error..I have uploaded pic of that error
For your info My phone's specifications are

which is obviously rooted..
Please note that My phone is S-On and is working perfectly
Can any one tell what went wrong??
I believe I got that when i tried to s-off,
I tried a diff usb port on the 3rd time it completed,
I found out as well that it doesnt play too nice with non AOSP roms - its still possible to do but u might get errors.
Best advice I can give is backup your current rom and install a AOSP rom and try again then when it completes apply backup and u should be good to go
edit:- I also chose No to alpharev recovery on 2nd/3rd attempt
I think you must have a froyo official rom
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
I also chose no to installing recovery whilst running s-off. I could only get it to work by flashing an aosp rooted rom (I used oxygen), prior to that it consistently failed to recognise my device.
You can always flash back to leedroid or other sense rom after gaining s-off.
1.) Make a complete nandroid-backup
2.) Flash an aosp-froyo-rom like defrost:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=690477
3.) Do the s-off-procedure with live-cd
4.) Restore nandroid-backup
5.) Have fun with s-off and previous rom
I followed these steps and it worked fine without any problems. No warranty for any damage! If problems still exits, use the irc-channel of alpharev.
Thanks for advice..will flash a Aosp and let you know..
Btw flashing the Aosp rom is same as flashing any other rom or does it requires some special techinque??
Normal i just put rom.zip in sd card, go to recovry do a full wipe and then install zip from sd card..
I have never tried Aosp so was just a lil curious..

For me S-off got stuck while flashing splash screen, hboot was successful. Then it ended up by booting into bootloader. Flashing a ROM fixed it. Now am using Reflex S 2.0.41.
you need a rom without data2ext or a2sd+ or any of this solutions
so try with stock rooted rom, or some AOSP without these scripts
just install this rom and repeat the procedure and you r good to go

Depends which ASOP ROM.
I had trouble to S-OFF when I was on Gingervillan, but after flashing my phone with an old Redux ROM, I was able to S-OFF it.
I think the stock rooted ROMs are the best bet for safe S-OFF though.

Me too, it works with stock froyo - btw if u use the latest ruu you have hboot 0.93.
You can use unrevoked to root your desire and s-off is working.

Rooted or not?!

So, I used this steps to root it, but when I rooted it I checked it with root checker and it says not rooted, whilst revolutionary says:
"Your device is already S-OFF. What do you think you are doing? Not setting S-OFF."
I'm on 2.2.1 now, here's what HBOOT screen says after root-ing.

when i rooted the first time my wildfire i have used this guide.i am not familiar with fastboot and flashing a recovery with fastboot but take a lokk at this guide.it might help you.for me it worked just perfect.and its easy.took me about 10 minutes to root and flash a custom rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1145035
please read everything carefully before do anything.noone is responsible if something happens to your phone.
I'm no expert but I believe that your device is not rooted. It is S-offed which should mean that the write protection is deactivated which allows the device to be rooted, but it's not yet fully rooted.
I followed the guide linked by gregoris and it worked perfectly. You now need to know if you have Froyo or Éclair.
If your android version is 2.2.1 then you first need to downgrade it to 2.1 (Step 1 from the "Rooting your Device" section from the guide).
If you've already got Éclair, then you should be good by starting at step 1 to install the drivers and then follow step 3 onwards (from the "Rooting your device" section). But still in case, you better find a guide for éclair before trying anything.
(I'm not responsible for anything and again, I'm quite a newbie to this rooting thing).
Theres no need to downgrade anything, the downgrade is needed to make revolutionary run he's already done that.
At the end of revolutionary it asks if you want to install clockworkmod recovery, i presume you did but if not run revo again and choose yes to it, that will install cwm recovery 4.0.1.4 which isnt the latest but it'll do for now......
Download cm7 and place it on your sd card.
After that boot into recovery from hboot and first run a backup, then wipe data and cache, go to advanced option in the main menu and wipe dalvik cache, then go back to install from zip and find your cm7 zip, select it choose yes and let it flash.
Cm7 comes pre-rooted, infact all custom roms are pre rooted, to root a completely stock rom you need to flash the superuser binary.

yes, most probably, but it isn't just as easy as comparing the versions... (you have the newest one btw) - the problem most of the time seem to be some "dirty" things (left overs, things messed up, ...) because the radio resides on its own partition which can't be wiped/cleared/formatted.
Working solutions are a) flash a different radio or b) install a sense based custom ROM (both reported with and without success - so it's a bit trial & error). Did your GPS and WiFi work?

Well, radio problems with AOSP ROMs are a common issue after rooting/s-off'in. Most of the time all goes well, sometimes GPS doesn't work and sometimes it might go even worser. But it's not a major problem as it could be solved -see above- most of the time

like I said: well known with AOSP ROMs - sense ROMs seem not to have the issue that often. If I'm not mistaken flashing a sense ROM even works as a solution if you aren't S-OFF.

sometimes yes - the problem is that you can't flash a radio when s-on so this is your only chance to solve any radio/baseband issues...
Any fixes for baseband?
When I install the RemPuzzle rom, it's the same process with revolutionary, because the one explained in the video looks different.

[Q] So after root bootloader?

Ok so I followed 2 videos I cannor post since I am still new to root my phone. Weirdly enough it worked the first time (knowing how unlucky I am with these stuff).
So after this I learned that I have to unlock the bootloader. SO being the noob I am I went to actually check it out. What it was, not the process. I then found a rom I liked and the way to unlock the bootloader. So my questions:
1) Is there a possibility my bootloader is already unlocked?
2) In some posts I saw that the manufacturing date might make your phone hard brick. I think it was in some experia models. Does HTC Desire HD has any problem with that? Mine is : HT138RX... do I need to write the whole thing?
3) When you unlock the bootloader will the original rom work or it's just a step before you put the custom ROM?
4) once it is unlocked assuming I wanna change ROM do I have to unlock it again?
I already did my full back up so... Thanks in advance. I did a full search in the forum but couldn't find answers to these :/
The original post had also the links but since Its my first post I cant post em...

Bootloader unlock and root are separate, and you can't root without unlock or S-Off. I don't know what you did, and I don't know what state your phone was in when you got it. If you tell me that I will know how to answer your question better. All I know right now is that your phone is S-Off, meaning that you can flash anything on it.

Honestly I don't know what I did. I just followed the instructions on this youtube video I found but cant post it because I am new here... I ll probably do so later. What do you mean what the state of my phone was? BEfore it was original. First time I rooted it. I used ace hack and ultimate warp drive. I didnt have to downgrade also because it was 2.3.5 android version.

OK, I think I understand your confusion. You need EITHER bootloader unlock OR S-Off to flash a recovery and flash root. You have S-Off from AAHK (which is now unsupported), so you don't need to (and can't) unlock your bootloader.
Now, to have root, either flash a rooted custom ROM from recovery or flash a superuser zip on your current stock ROM.

I have superuser in my stock ROM and Root since I installed like 3 different root checker apps to check it and all said its rooted. So I am thinking of flashing Jellytime now since I did my backup. Will I be able to? Or do I need anything else? I already have the guide about the Jellytime and gapps.

No problem. Have fun flashing!
Hmm just did a stock rom back up through clockwork mod recovery and now I am thinking of flashing jellytime. Do I need to install a kernel or just the rom / boot.img / gapps is ok? also is there a difference if i do it with clockworkmod or as others do it with 4ext?

Since you are S-Off you don't need the boot.img, just flash ROM and gapps from recovery. JellyTime is AOSP, not Sense, so you do need to flash gapps. If you ever flash a Sense ROM, you don't need gapps.

2.How can I root the device?
3.I need step by step on how to flash my HOX with Custom Rom (both how to back up incase of bricking)
4. I wish to learn more about HOX, guide or link would be appreciated.

Here you can read up

Thank you for the reply, please what is the latest stock version of HTC one X and please help me with link for stable Custom Rom (4.3 or 4.4), am having problem of choice on the above link.
Officially we are on 4.2.2 sense 5. Only CM custom builds are on 4.4. You can only go there if your hboot is high enough (safe is to be on 1.36/1.39 or higher)
Please how do I check my Hboot, kindly do me a favour by providing the direct link to the above ROM you mentioned.
Hboot number is stated in the bootloader and all those roms are in the original android dev section

go to fastboot with volume keys (up down) select fastboot(with on/off key) then select reboot
to update to sense 5
if you are not rooted(back in the fastboot screen unlocked= rooted locked+ no root)
go to settings=>about phone=>software updates
if you are rooted you must first relock bootloader flash original firmware which you will have backed up while rooting(nandroid)

yes just update your phone thru settings=>about phone(the last option)=>software updates
to do a nandroid backup you must unlock and flash custom recovery (video 1/2) do not flash a custom rom then simply in your recovery go to "backup & restore" and backup everything

I think am getting better now, a friend told me that I need network to flash KERNEL before I can flash custom rom. How true is that?
Is it possible to unlock bootloader without been connected to the internet?
Like how many MB will it take to upgrade from 4.0.4 to 4.2.2 (Data subscription is a bit high in my location)
Thanks for bringing to your precious time to assist me.

600mb
cm11 and gapps is 300 mb
and then a recovery + files
approx 1gb for everything
a nandroid backup is just a backup of your original rom(or custom rom)

Softbrick or sth else? Ideas welcome

Hi guys,
I tried to make a custom rom on my new HTC10 - something goes wrong (no it wasnt my first one )
But now I am a little bit stucked:
First the data:
** UNLOCKED **
htc_pmeuhl PVT S-OFF
CID-11111111
MID-2PS620000
ColorID-WHT00
LK-1.0.0.0000
[email protected]
OpenDSP-v20.0.8996.00007_0809
OS-2.41.401.41
Aug 2 2017,12:18:15(857212)
The Error happend after "updating" the firmware cause the Lee-Rom suggested the newst one. After the first "Loop" I tried the next one and the next and the next... I dont know how much Firmwares I tried honestly...
I am able to boot into TWRP and I am able to come back to Stock Recovery... So that will work... Maybe my partition crasehd with the Rom?
Any Idea or a little step by step suggestion?
I did the "How to root and TWRP" - Youtube tutorial by Rootjunky and until than everything worked fine... after that the failed Firmware-Update...
I have an EU-Phone, based in Germany
Hope anyone can help and thanks a lot for any ideas!
Cheers

You are on the latest firmware for you phone. Did you try flash a US Unlocked firmware? Best thing to do is to flash the latest WWE RUU. Thanks @Kisakuku
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=817550096634797504
Download and rename the zip to 2PS6IMG. zip
Place on external sdcard
Boot to download mode and press volume uo to flash. The RUU will erase EVERYTHING but you will be completely stock.

RUU = Rom Update Utility. It flashes the phone completely as if it came out of the box. Firmware, software.... the whole thing.

3. go into twrp do a data format or wipe ... or both and flash rom - gapps - supersu

You mention flash gapps, for sense roms you don't have to do that, for aosp roms yes. But most of the time it's mentioned in the OP of aosp roms that you have to flash it twice, or flash the boot.img seperatly via fastboot to make it work. The correct gapps will do wonders too...... so i guess one of those things were the issue.
