I have a Sprint Samsung Galaxy S2 SPH-D710. The phone was running the stock ICS firmware. Yesterday the phone randomly crashed. After crashing I tried rebooting the phone multiple times but it would always hang at the Samsung logo.
I then tried doing a factory reset (Volume-up + power buttons). This at first seemed to work but after restoring and booting all the way up the phone hung again.
Now the phone always hangs at the Samsung logo and I can only enter the odin mode (volumn-down + power buttons).
I have tried restoring the phone using multiple different one-click odin re-flashers. But, although they always completed without errors, when the phone reboots, it still just hangs at he Samsung logo.
Ideas please. Thanks!
Hmm you may have the wrong odin stock files man or maybe hardware failure somewhere?

How can I tell if I have a hardware failure?
I downloaded my odin files from here: rwilco12 . com/downloads.php?dir=Files/Devices/Samsung%20Galaxy%20S2%20%28Sprint%29%20%28SPH-D710%29/Stock%20ROMs
This is a strange thing to happen on stock. I don't believe that its hardware related, if your device bricked for hardware reasons it wouldn't allow you into recovery and try to boot. This sounds more like a corrupted system file. Make sure that your drivers are installed correctly and retry your choice of one clicks. If that doesn't work, I would try using the latest GB27 release, found here. This will wipe out everything on your device, pictures, music, etc..., this kinda sucks, especially if you can't boot to back it up.
Edit - Sorry my two year old hit the mouse before I finished typing.
To continue my post: The above linked one click will reformat your device and install the necessary partitions, essentially giving you a brand new internal drive to work with.
So loaded the GB27 release as you suggested. No joy. The phone still just hangs at the Samsung logo. The odin output is as follows:

I'm honestly at a loss, never heard of this happening. Not to beat a dead horse, but your sure you have the D710?
Slithering from the nether regions of a twisted mind and tarnished soul
Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41320560&postcount=17
Can't guarantee that it'll work but, doesn't hurt to try.
Not sure if this applies to the d710 but I had an evo shift that did that until I removed its sd card. So if you have an sd card in it, take it out and try.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
I never had that happen to my Shift lol... But could be worth a shot

I don't have a SD installed so that can't be it. I'll try out Dypraxxx suggestion this evening and report back.
Thanks for you responses!
Ok, I finally got around to trying Dypraxxx suggestion. No joy.

Default Busted...any help??
Sorry to bother, I was trying to upgrade a ROM on my Epic, and boinked up. I can get to recovery and ODIN, but I can't flash anything (fails or hangs).
I tried to use Mobile ODIN to switch to the EL29 kernel for flashing, and that's where trouble started. Stuck at the Samsung SII screen. Can get to ODIN and recovery, but on click ROMs outright fail, and the full tar files just hang at "factoryfs.img",
Can anyone help me get back up and running again? I don't care which version or kernel, I'm done with flashing.
Sorry and thanks

Do a factory reset in recovery mode, and re download and reinstall stock Samsung firmware for your region with doing.

Im also new to this, but try using odin v3.09 , make sure ONLY "Auto reboot" and F. Reset Time is ticked NOTHING ELSE. then head over to SAMMOBILE and get your firmware there. Click on the AP button and browse to the firmware file you downloaded, make sure that you unzipped the archive.

something i've ran into before on other devices - if you came from a custom rom/custom recovery, you may need to reinstall a custom recovery, clear cache and dalvik, *THEN* ODIN the stock rom
it was for other samsungs, but may be relevant here.
TLDR: Odin says it flashes recovery successfully, it doesn't seem to be working.
Note 4 was damaged and brought out the S3 for a temp backup phone. I activated it, made some test calls everything worked great. Came back a couple hours later to the phone in download mode with a red error stating it could not normal boot. I attempted to go into recovery, pulled up TWRP 2.6.0.0 with a password prompt but I've never set one. I googled the TWRP issue and there was a problem with Sprint GS3 and TWRP, I loaded up Odin 3.0.9 and attempted to flash a newer version of TWRP as my searching had recommended, Odin flashed, said PASS! and I rebooted but it was still on 2.6.0.0 requesting a password. I pulled up ODIN again, tried CWM/Philz/Stock - same issue still TWRP 2.6.0.0 even though ODIN stated it successfully flashed. Tried a different computer, a different USB cable, same issue. ODIN states that it is successfully flashing but it doesn't seem to take. Then I tried flash stock ROM, got an error in ODIN this time, stating it couldn't write, googled that was told to get a pit file, that can't be written either.
I can't seem to find many people in my situation, was hoping I could get some input before I started buying hardware to try to fix it (JTAG and micro SD/linux solutions).
Odin the full stock ROM then Odin recovery again.

You'll have to repartition PIT. I don't have any other information, I know someone with the 32GB model successfully repartitioned his PIT.
Spent all day browsing through similar threads but can't for the life of me work this out.
Note II has had a number of resets and app crashes in the last few weeks, today the phone froze and on hard reset it just got stuck on the start up screen. Tried battery pull and power drain but same result. Can't boot into recovery mode. Can boot into download mode.
Downloaded cwm recovery for note2, added it to the AP section of Odin and tried to flash my device but it failed.

I've restarted PC, double checked drivers, tried different USB slots, but always get the same result. I'm resigned to losing all my data but just want to get a working phone back.
Any help greatly appreciated, thanks
Have you tried to flash stock rom (try with 4.3 also) via ODIN? It should help you re-flash the stock recovery.
attempting that now will update with results, download might take a while.
is the region that the firmware comes from relevant? i.e. do i need to select a region close to mine, or close to where the phone originated, or is the latest version good enough regardless of region of origin?
I downloaded a stock rom (4.3) and pretty much instantly got the exact same error in Odin:

As the phone running stock 4.4.2? If it was, I'm not sure you can downgrade via Odin from 4.4.2 to 4.3.

I was reasonably sure it was 4.3 but I suppose I will try to flash 4.4 and see if I get a different result. In the mean time I've acquired another phone to use and I suspect if I can't flash 4.4 via odin it might be easier to just put the note to bed
can you enter recovery? try flashing through recovery and see what happens

Same prob with one of my friend any advice
Sounds like sudden death syndrome (aka "sds") to me, especially if "product name" is blank in download mode (but also if it isn't).
Search for it, if you haven't heard about it yet.

I have a similar problem.
My Note 2 didn't start after i charged it to 100% over the night.
First, i was able to go into recovery but from the start on the recovery was showing me mount errors of all partitions (system, cache, data etc.). Block device required or something like that
Well, i downloaded the newest Firmware from sammobile.com and tried to flash that but odin failed after the hidden.img file.
After that, i thought my partitions are damaged so i tried to put a .pit File into the flashing process but still the same result.
Result from ODIN:

I have found some threads where they suggest to remove hidden.img and modem.bin from the tar.
I did, flashed that parted tar.md5, then directly after that the mode.bin but still no sucessfull boot and still the mounting errors in the recovery.
Got my PIT-File from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2653311
Flashed that with the newest Stock rom - Failed boot
Flashed that after the parted tar.md5 which first was successfull - Failed boot
Still same mounting errors in recovery

Guys,
I have my 6 y/o cousin Galaxy Tab 3 Kids (SM-T2105) which is not working properly; lots of error messages prompting. I did do "Factory Reset", but when finish and it restart, those malware apps appears back and back while several OS error message appears. I also tried rebooting with SAFE MODE and was able to find 2 apps which I was not able to uninstall but just "Turn Off".
Here are some pictures of what is going on when I start up the tablet; a video will follow-up.

Go to sammobile.com and download the full firmware package for your model.
Install Odin on your pc.
Boot into download mode and flash the full firmware package with Odin. Do not check Auto reboot.
When flashing is finished, boot directly to recovery and do factory reset.

I've seen other people have success after getting that "failed" message by trying on a different pc or using a different usb cable. Other than that, I don't have any other suggestions. Make sure you have USB debugging enabled in Developer Options.
Can you post a screenshot of Odin when it fails?

Gr8nole,
The firmware was successfully loaded and after a while using it, it started to flicker; see video here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/7ffx72w9a46f8k4/20160126_221119.mp4?dl=0

Is auto-brightness on or off?
Does it do that with auto-brightness turned off?

Auto was checked (on), so I just unchecked it and restarted the tablet to check.
