[Q] HTC Droid Incredible (first edition) internal file corruptionish - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Issue a little resolved.
Info below.
Thank you.

Perhaps you did a factory reset? It usually takes a few minutes longer than usual to boot after doing one of those.
If you didn't, it might be worth trying now.... turn off phone, hold volume down and power button together, using volume button scroll to 'factory reset' and select it using power button.
You can add back a stock 'OS' by following the steps here (#33 contains the stock OS)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1571404

I performed a Factory Reset. It rebooted and went to the HTC Droid Incredible screen, which only lasted a view seconds. Then it went straight to Clockworkmod Recovery.
And by that restoring the OS part you said, I can't find it. The link you provided sends me to a fix-the-screen forum post. There's no #33 there.
The phone has HBoot unlocked, btw if that helps anything.

Have you, by chance, tried flashing a stock RUU? PH98IMG on the sdcard and all that jazz?

I have, as a matter of fact, tried doing that.
I started with images at HBoot on a sdcard but all it did was read it and then throw back an image-not-recognized even though the image IS recognized.
Then I tried doing a few RUU's but all of them throw errors back at me.
This is getting frustrating.

I somehow got the phone to startup it's OS, somehow...
But now it is freezing almost every time I go from 1 app. to another. How do I fix the app. freezing?
And now it is getting stuck in boot loops again! Please help!

Just do a full wipe in recovery, and then flash a rom of your choosing. That should get you up and running. Or you could do this ruu http://dinc.does-it.net/Stock_Images/4.08.605.15/PB31IMG.zip thru hboot.

Thanks for the file! I downloaded it to a FAT32 formatted sdcard and went into HBoot and let the file update. The update was successful, but I still got the random reboots/freezing/etc. I can't access the market/google play because it keeps saying there is no connection but I do a wifi connection. It also keeps getting stuck on the HTC Incredible white screen.

[Q] need help getting S-ON / unroot

After reading around all day I seem to be suffering the same problem that a growing number of individuals are experiencing, my phone froze and now it will not pass the HTC screen.
I have tried to flash a new rom - no success
I have re-flashed the recovery (v3.0.2.4) thru fastboot
I receive the following errors on recovery boot
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
I have formatted the SD card
I can't mount or format /data /cache or /system
All three partitions are blank thru ADB shell
I can't flash any backups (error formatting /system)
Using the factory reset option in fastboot only causes the phone to hang
I have my part7backup but it does not restore S-ON
I have tried to manually restore it using gfree as well to no success
I have HBOOT and can connect thru ADB
I have tried a few different PC10img's but they all fail on the bootloader
I am trying to get this to a point that I can send it in for a replacement unit but I seem to be getting no where, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Current kernel - 2.6.32.28-cyanogenmod-g4f4ee2e
Last working ROM - MIUI-Bread 1.4.8

... Seems you dont have eng-hboot and if am correct you neet eng-hboot to use adb correctly. I think no one has fixed this issue yet.
Sent from my HTC Desire Z/G2 Using XDA Premium App
ok for people that have this problem did you guys write to a block to fix your gps?
Because thats what i did and later it happened phone froze then had to pull battery then stuck
No additional tweeking was done, used MIUI for about a month without a problem, went to install an app a couple of days ago and it froze as soon as I clicked download, been useless ever since.

[Q] Wrestling with CWM errors

I'm sure a lot of you have heard this story before, but I'd love to know if there is some solution to this problem buried in the internet that I haven't found yet. Basically, every time I flash Clockworkmod Revocery, it's only a matter of time before I start getting errors along the lines of:
Code:
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
These errors basically render the recovery useless, meaning I have to reflash it to get rid of the errors. This only works for a little while before the errors return. I've been jumping from flashing CWM 3.0.0.8 and 5.0.2.0 through hboot for the past few weeks and I'm getting sick of it. Does anyone have any suggestions for this problem? Thanks.
Phone Info
HTC Droid Incredible (ADR6300)
Cyanogenmod 7.1.0
Android 2.3.7
Clockworkmod Recovery 3.0.0.8 (Constantly jumping between this and 5.0.2.0)
Incredikernel 2.6.38.8 (10/08/11)
HBOOT 0.92.0000
Radio 2.15.10.07.07
S-OFF
Have you checked "Erase Recovery" in Rom Manager prior to installing different CWM's?
I can never flash through ROM Manager. Every time I do I get stuck at the htc Incredible screen. Hboot is the only way that works for me. I just tried your suggestion with the same results I just mentioned.

[Q] E:Can't open CACHE:recovery/log

In recovery i get this error message: E:Can't open CACHE:recovery/log
Also,
I tried to install a zip from the sdcard and i get this: E:Can't mount SDCARD:update.zip
Anyone have any ideas.
I am running WinVista Ultimate x64
tried different recovery?
I don't know any other recovery method.
err what? lol
go to my guide and look at flashing custom recovery. See if problem persists.
move recovery log to sd and manually flash zip.
In recovery i get this error message: E:Can't open CACHE:recovery/log

I have updated my signature, hopefully the rest of the info you need is there, if not let us know. Thanks
Use fastboot to flash new recovery. If you want to know how to this, check bortak's guide. He did not wrote because he was bored.
I managed to find a recovery.img from somewhere and i'm back in recovery mode. But I still have these errors i'm faced with.
E:Can't find MISC:
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/command
E:Can't find MISC:
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log
E:Can't find MISC:
As soon as this is sorted i can then find out why i can't format or mount the system, i won't be able to re-install my rom otherwise.
Was it really necessary to create another thread with same problem?
Which recovery did you flash?
Please post information from your Hboot! You get there if you turn your phone off, and press and hold first volume down and then power button for a few seconds. It's a white screen with three androids at the bottom and the import information is top left.

Please help! Broken recovery!!!

I have rooted my htc desire with Unrevoked, and installed clockworkmod 2.5.0.7 recovery. The thing is that the recovery doesn't. It gives me the following errors:
E:Can't find MISC:
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/command
E:Can't find MISC:
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log
E:Can't find MISC:
The recovery doesn't work at all. ANYTHING I try to do ends up with the errors above. And that's why I can't flash a new recovery image.
Could anyone help me?
Phone spects:
Htc desire
Android 2.2 stock rom
Clockworkmod 2.5.0.7
Hboot 0.93
S-on
How can I fix my recovery?
P.S. If you would like, I could post the whole error log exported from the recovery.

Wipe cache from recovery.
Do you have a PVT 4 device? If that is the case, you need AmonRA or never CWM.
Yeah I had this when I was starting out. PVT-4 device. I just flashed a custom recovery (AmonRA) when I did unrevoked instead of the default one.
LOL, WHY DO YOU OPEN TWO THREADS????

Meh........

[Q] Help Please!!! My phone is bricked and can't flash recovery

Ok here is my problem
I have an incredible 2 rooted and s-off and flashed with condemned CM 7.2
the device hangs up occasionally and I of course I take the battery out to get it back to work, until today while I was installing something from the play store it hanged up again and I took the battery out but this time the device won't pass the HTC white screen at all. I was able to get into CWM recovery and here is what I got:
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
I tried wipe data/factory reset and cache wipe and all went OK
Then I tried to restore a nandroid with no luck and I get this message:
Checking MD5 sums...
Erasing boot before restore...
Restoring boot image...
Restoreing system....
Error while formatting /system!
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
I Tried flashing another room and I get this error message:
and it gave a (status1) error
I googled a bit and found those two similar cases:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1150917
http://forum.cyanogenmod.org/topic/6433-solved-messed-up-partitions-on-internal-storage/
so either my eMMc is fired or needs partitioning
I used to have CWM 4.0.0.5 so I thought of updating to a newer version to solve the problem but it won't update, the fastboot code "fastboot flash recovery" hangs at (writing recovery ...) and the phone is also hanged. After waiting long enough I took the battery out once again and this time I don't have any recovery installed at all and of course can't install any recovery.
I wish someone has a solution to my problem so that I can try partitioning method.
Addition: Now whenever I connect the usb port to the phone it automatically turns on and logs into hboot
