In recovery i get this error message: E:Can't open CACHE:recovery/log
Also,
I tried to install a zip from the sdcard and i get this: E:Can't mount SDCARD:update.zip
Anyone have any ideas.
I am running WinVista Ultimate x64
tried different recovery?
I don't know any other recovery method.
err what? lol
go to my guide and look at flashing custom recovery. See if problem persists.
move recovery log to sd and manually flash zip.

How are these relevant?
Do you have a PVT4 Desire? What is your recovery etc.
Try giving us USEFUL info

I have updated my signature, hopefully the rest of the info you need is there, if not let us know. Thanks
Use fastboot to flash new recovery. If you want to know how to this, check bortak's guide. He did not wrote because he was bored.
I managed to find a recovery.img from somewhere and i'm back in recovery mode. But I still have these errors i'm faced with.
E:Can't find MISC:
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/command
E:Can't find MISC:
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log
E:Can't find MISC:
As soon as this is sorted i can then find out why i can't format or mount the system, i won't be able to re-install my rom otherwise.
Was it really necessary to create another thread with same problem?
Which recovery did you flash?
Please post information from your Hboot! You get there if you turn your phone off, and press and hold first volume down and then power button for a few seconds. It's a white screen with three androids at the bottom and the import information is top left.

I believe that recovery was made only for gingerbread ROM's.. I'm so sure ha, I use a G2 now ha.. have you tried installing ROM manager and flashing the old recovery via it's menu? just stick with that recovery.
edit: by the way.. I have no idea how you can fix ur problem besides maybe trying to reflash it via terminal emu again and type the following with the recovery image file on the root of ur sd card
"su
flash_image recovery /sdcard/"name of recovery".img"
cheers, hope one of the things i suggested works.

well, im guessing u have fastboot working so either reflash recovery or run this command
fastboot wipe cache
it should fix that problem, also i would recommend going back to clockwork 2, if u dont have the file to flash it back (not the update.zip, the actual image) and need the link to the .img file pm me
Omg! Thank you! I rebooted into fastboot and ran the following commands
Fastboot erase recovery
Fastboot flash recovery /path/recoveryCWM2.img
And flashed it... =D everything works now =D
I think its a bug because CWM 3.0 is only a test .img I flash 3 times.. and got the same errorss.. I'm just going to stick with 2.5 until a stable 3.0 comes out.. thank both of you very muxh =D

follow the wiki!
if recovery didnt flash right see if you have fastboot in bootloader and reflash it. also double check that hboot flashed correctly by verifying the version with the wiki.
always always follow the wiki. ive never had to downgrade yet so i dont know what it consists of other than getting you back to stock 1.34 or lower. pm me if you need more advice.

I have rooted my htc desire with Unrevoked, and installed clockworkmod 2.5.0.7 recovery. The thing is that the recovery doesn't. It gives me the following errors:
E:Can't find MISC:
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/command
E:Can't find MISC:
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log
E:Can't find MISC:
The recovery doesn't work at all. ANYTHING I try to do ends up with the errors above. And that's why I can't flash a new recovery image.
Could anyone help me?
Phone spects:
Htc desire
Android 2.2 stock rom
Clockworkmod 2.5.0.7
Hboot 0.93
S-on
How can I fix my recovery?
P.S. If you would like, I could post the whole error log exported from the recovery.

Wipe cache from recovery.
Do you have a PVT 4 device? If that is the case, you need AmonRA or never CWM.
Yeah I had this when I was starting out. PVT-4 device. I just flashed a custom recovery (AmonRA) when I did unrevoked instead of the default one.

Meh........
So about 5 months ago, i was doing something on my Dinc and something went horribly wrong. I was too lazy to try to fix it and i wanted a new phone so i got a droid charge. Now, i want to try to fix it and use it as an mp3 player and for games. Can someone help me? When i boot the phone, it goes to the white screen with options "bootloader, reboot, reboot bootloader, and power down (androids skating at the bottom)" when i go to bootloader, then recovery, i get the htc incredible screen, then to cwm. But when i use the power button
to select an option, the screen goes black, and if i press it again, it goes back to the main menu. And on the bottom, it says
ClockwordMod Recovery v2.5.0.5

E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2

E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log

And i believe my phone is S-on. Is there any way to just reset EVERYTHING?
Thank you in advance.
EDIT: I forgot that you don't use the power button to select on the Dinc -.-, but when i select, for example clear cache or clear data, it says

Try flashing the s-off tool through cwm and that should gain you access to the internal memory. http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/forever

Do not use the power button to select, you use the trackball to select items and power to go back. If you hit power wile on the main menu, the screen will go black, press it again and the menu will come back. As for the errors it sounds like you may need to fastboot flash the misc partition. I would first try reflashing cwm recovery thru hboot and then wipe everything thru recovery and flash a rom and see if it works. You are s-off right?
Yea i got confused with the droid charge and used the power button to try to select. And my Dinc is s-on.

Use a PB31IMG.zip ruu thru hboot. http://dinc.does-it.net/Stock_Images/4.06.605.3/PB31IMG.zip. Place that file on your sdcard in no folders. Then power off the phone and hold vol down and power untill a white screen appears (hboot). It will find the file and prompt you to press vol up to install.

Try placing this on the root of your SD and boot into hboot. It is the most recent gingerbread PB31IMG.zip and should get you back to 2.3.4 and if you so choose, you can reroot and go from there.

woops, sorry I didn't see cmlusco had given you the same thing. Try his first and then try mine if you don't have any luck. They're probably the same file though.
I already tried those files from http://pvillecomp.com/ with no luck. I'll try these and reply back.

Main Version is older
Update Fail!
Do you want to reboot device?

Are you able to communicate to your phone through adb? if you are, then I would suggest using the following information written by scotty85 to help to temporarily unlock your bootloader so you can flash the "older version"
http://androidforums.com/incredible...ot-2-3-4-downgrade-get-s-off.html#post3308718
You would want to start with "step 4 - downgrade with adb"

Its bricked, cache is gone and its the first sign its happening, its the exact same signs as 99% of a100 users get when its bricked. The other 1% are battery related/user error/straight to APX mode.

You can try whatever you wish, but its not likely to do much more then waste time.

You may want to also read the thread. Adb can't fix it. Flashing a ROM can't fix it. Its going to die. Quite a few of us have gone through it, familiarizing yourself with a device is a good idea before assuming a standard answer is correct.
