(Review) Poetic GraphGrip Case for Google Nexus 7 FHD 2013 - Nexus 7 (2013) Accessories

Intro: I'm kinda tough on my electronics, so when I bought the 2013 Nexus 7, I knew I needed a case for when I'm out in the field. It was a good call.
Description: The Poetic GraphGrip Case is a pretty standard case made out of some type of rubber\silicone compound. It has overlay buttons for volume and power, one cutout for the 1\8" microphone port, one cutout for the top speaker, one cutout for the camera, one cutout for the Micro USB port, and two cutouts for the bottom speaker. It extends approximately 1\8" above the surface of the screen, so you can safely lay the tablet face down.
Pros:
Size\Material - It adds a good deal of protection without making the device terribly bulky. I was afraid the rubber would attract lint\etc., but it really isn't too bad, and is very easy to wipe clean.
Protection - I had the Nexus 7 out at the National Training Center in Fort Irwin, CA - as hostile an environment as you can find in the continental US. Between this and a good screen protector, the Nexus 7 came back looking just as new as when it left.
Buttons - the buttons are easier to press with it on than it is without, but not so easy as to be accidentally activated.
Cutouts - all are perfect. The Micro USB and headphone ports are easy to access, the camera cutout is the perfect size, and the speakers are not interfered with.
Cons:
QI - it's thick enough to slow down wireless charging. If I'm going to have the Nexus 7 playing music over Bluetooth for hours at a time, the wireless charger isn't able to keep up. Without the case, it keeps up just fine.
Summary: Great case. I didn't experience the smell other people did - it didn't smell like anything when it arrived. All in all I'm very satisfied.

Ordered a case--will report back with a review when it comes

I wanted something along these lines:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003YD0TT2
(Two piece snap on hard shell, but with soft-touch rubberized coating. Something that protects and adds grippiness, but doesn't add much in the way of bulk.)
I figured between that kind of case and a screen protector, I'd feel okay about just tossing the A100 in a bag. I really want to keep it a pick-up-and-go device (like a smartphone or an iPod touch...no unzipping, or unlatching and folding, or whatever required).
Unfortunately, 7-inch tablets haven't saturated the market enough to attract a whole lot of accessory manufacturer interest.
Soo, in the hopefully short meantime, I opted for a cheap neoprene sleeve until someone offers a case like the one above or one like I had on my Transformer (http://goo.gl/uQwTk), which was actually exceptionally nice.
Anyway, here's the sleeve I bought:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005FJ7XTC
Should arrive between the 1st and 4th, so pictures and a review then.
Try one of these, it's hard shelled and protects the device well. Cheap, too!

Great case for A100
I purchased this case about a month ago. It was sent from China so it takes at least 3 weeks to arrive .
After a week of break in period the case feels great to the hands. The leather used on the outside of the case acquires a nice soft feel and has NO leather smell like the Acer smelly case.
All ports and buttons are accessible and the A100 hold firmly in the case with no screen visibility restrictions.
The case open steno style as opposed to book style in the portrait screen position.
As a bonus they also include a very nice NON glare screen protector.
$16.95 with free shipping....it's a great deal.

Just as a heads up as well, this charger does work with my Nexus 4 and Ringke Fusion and S-line TPU cases, so this charger is capable of charging other Qi enabled devices with a case in between.

Will do! I plan on getting a few others too, so I'll be sure to come back.
I actually played around a bit more with the case and charger though, and I finally got it to work. It seems the positioning needs to be a lot more precise with the added distance, but if you get it just right, it will charge. I've changed my post to reflect that.
ASUS travel case is just fine...
I have this case it it works just fine with my Nokia DT-900 QI charger:

I think most cases that aren't super thick or made of metal should work.

Thanks for the update. For my setup, I just put it on the pad and it charges. No need to be too precise. I believe the ASUS case is thinner.

As DarkScorpion01 suggested in his post, it works, but it requires careful positioning.
Ah, I had not read the update. Thank you.
If you have a qi device and charging pad, you can get a pretty good idea how thick a case will work by using a stack of paper. My TM-101 will charge my Nexus 7 through 1/8" of a paper tablet, but not 3/16".

I am pining for the Caseen Handstrap case but it won't be out for a month:
http://www.caseen.com/caseen-SKINNY...eep-for-Google-Asus-Nexus-7-Tablet_p_275.html
It's easy to hold with one hand when reading and the cover folds back.
I least dislike the Moko and the I-Blason. The Moko's leather latch sticks out and makes it a little difficult to hol=d the case with ne hand when reading. The I-Blason's cover bends in a curve instead of folding back. The Vstn Folio is an exact clone of the I-Blason. Folding back the cover of the Roocase doubles the width, pressing it flat makes the sides stick out an inch. The Finte is also ok, plain without a hand strap.
They were all inexpensive and all better than nothing. I got my I-Blason on the 6th of August and was happy to be able to take the tablet out of the house.
Best,
Tom

Tale of 3 cases

I have tried 3 cases for the new Nexus 7, all from Amazon.
Poetic Slimbook - stiffener in spine makes it so rigid that it's difficult to fold it open like a book, stylus loop is on the back not side, tablet tends to work itself out just enough to make swiping difficult (there is no velcro to secure the flap holding the tablet in). The fit is good and everything is easily accessible. Magnetic on/off closure works fine. A little heavy at 5.4 oz.
Poetic Slimline - Nice light case (3.8 oz) and the tablet fits snugly and securely in the frame. The drawbacks to this case are that it offers little protection in a fall, and the magnetic on/off mechanism is unreliable, choosing when it wants to work or not.
Caseology Ultra Slim Fit Leather Multi-Angle Stand Case - Nice case overall, good fit, well made and has velcro to secure the tablet's hold in flap. It folds open nicely because the spine is flexible not rigid. Lighter than the Poetic Slimbook (4.7 oz). It has no stylus holder but not a big deal. But this case is near useless because access to the power and volume buttons is virtually impossible. The cutout really doesn't expose the buttons. It's only open on the side not the lower edge of the case.
So there you have it. Three cases down and still looking for one that has it all. Suggestions?
I got the Roocase (Amazon) today, love it. Perfect fit and magnet is perfect location too

I complained to Poetic that my Slimbook's sleep/awake function works very poorly. They replied that the Slimbook doesn't have that function, and its clearly stated on amazon. LOL.

It used to say it had the magnet closure. The one I got does.
I get the impression some of these vendors don't know what they've got.
Here's another example. I Got the Caseology foli case and you can't really get to the power and volume buttons because the opening is high on the side (toward the front) and the buttons are really close to the bottom. Their response was that I ordered a case for the old Nexus 7. My Amazon order says FHD 2013 and I also tried my wife's original Nexus 7 in the case and it doesn't fit that either. It is too wide for the case and the buttons on that don't line up either. No amount of explaining where the button opening needs to be got through. I finally sent them a link to the Poetic and Roocase so you can see the cutouts.
Still looking for a better case. Have the Poetic Slimbook and Slimline and Caseology Folio so far. Ordered (and some are in transit) are the Poetic GraphGrip, The Cruzerlite TPU case, and the Roocase Dual Station Folio.
At these introductory prices it's cheap enough to try a bunch.

[Q] Poetic Slimline vs. Moko Slim case

Hey I am deciding between the Moko Slim case and the Poetic Slimline case.
They're practically the same and price is not so much of an issue but I was wondering about protection from falls, issues with magnets scratching screens, and long-term wear and tear of the products.
Any recommendations?

I bought the Moko for my first case and it was alright for the most part. The tab that hooks around the N7 to close the cover is a PITA. I tried bending it out a little and broke it. That prompted me to purchase the Poetic case and I really like it. Simple design and does it's job.
Of the two I would vote for the Poetic.
i bought a generic "made in china" rotating case from ebay. quality is more or less as same as the "branded" ones.
even branded ones dont last long. a friend's i-pad case (veryy expensive one) literally came apart after about 6 months of use. so if you are gonna buy a new one roughly every year, i suggest buy a knock off
I bought the Moko slimline case from Amazon. All in all it seems like a good case. The only small issue I have with it (and I'm sure it's the same with all cases like this). When you fold the front cover over and use it in book mode the front cover has a lot of play up and down while you hold it. It's almost like there is too much material in the spine. If someone has the Poetic and could comment on if his is the same I'd love to know. I've considered returning this one and trying the Poetic.
I have the moko multi angle case as well as the regular(which I have yet to use) and I am very happy. I do agree that the tab that holds the case shut is somewhat a pain but not enough for me to not recommend it. I got it dirt cheap as well(12 bucks I think)
Sent from my AT&T Galaxy S4 Running KangaKit powered by ktoonez's Kernel!
Just received my moko case today. I can't say i would recommend it as it caused my top speaker to stop working.

I've owned the poetic slimline case since july, when the nexus 7 2013 came out. Use it nearly on a daily basis and haven't had any issues with it
Had my Poetic for two months and the magnets are falling out and the plastic holding them in is cracking. I would rather pay a little more than have to buy a case two or three times within a year. Cheap crap.
Thanks for all the responses.
I ended up purchasing the Moko slim case.
I didnt want to have any issues with the magnets falling out and I didn't particularly like the logo on the front.
I've had the moko for about a week and I've liked it a lot so far. The case feels pretty premium and soft. The inner is a soft microfiber. The back has a hard plastic outline in addition to the fake leather center. This protects it fairly well as I have dropped it from a medium height (3 feet or less) a couple of times and it is fine. The magnet in the flap works excellently with the auto on-off functionality. I have tried NFC and it works through the case. I've also heard wireless charging works though I have not verified this. Some issues I have with the case:
The inner of the flap is collecting some fuzz
The left side of the case seems to be a little loose
The magnets seem a little weak and slide left and right. It can also open the case if shaken upside down.
Overall an excellent case and I would recommend.

Any similar replacements for LG CCF-300 QuickCover ?

For years I used my Nexus 5 in an LG QuickCover for Nexus 5 CCF-300 ... a hard backshell with a foldover folio cover. Extremely lightweight and thin (enough to slip into a suit jacket inside breast pocket), and a perfect fit for the D820/821.
This cover was the bomb: fit the stock phone very closely, had a thin 4-magnet plate on the back for positioning on the LG Nexus 5 wireless charger, had a small magnet in the cover to sleep/resume the phone. My phone lived in this until Dodocase had a sale on their "Durables" leather and canvas slipcovers.
After years of use, the case has a crack, and the "hinge" portion of the cover is coming apart. My Nexus 5 has seen hard use, too, but after a battery replacement and a full wipe (a KDIFIX replacement back cover caused overheat and kernel panic), it's working quite well. Such a good phone! :good:
Searches online haven't yielded ANY of the CCF-300 available anymore. Anyone have good experiences with similar slim folio cases? TIA!
