Any similar replacements for LG CCF-300 QuickCover ? - Nexus 5 Accessories

For years I used my Nexus 5 in an LG QuickCover for Nexus 5 CCF-300 ... a hard backshell with a foldover folio cover. Extremely lightweight and thin (enough to slip into a suit jacket inside breast pocket), and a perfect fit for the D820/821.
This cover was the bomb: fit the stock phone very closely, had a thin 4-magnet plate on the back for positioning on the LG Nexus 5 wireless charger, had a small magnet in the cover to sleep/resume the phone. My phone lived in this until Dodocase had a sale on their "Durables" leather and canvas slipcovers.
After years of use, the case has a crack, and the "hinge" portion of the cover is coming apart. My Nexus 5 has seen hard use, too, but after a battery replacement and a full wipe (a KDIFIX replacement back cover caused overheat and kernel panic), it's working quite well. Such a good phone! :good:
Searches online haven't yielded ANY of the CCF-300 available anymore. Anyone have good experiences with similar slim folio cases? TIA!

I was bringing my phone over to me from reaching over to get it from my back pocket, and a little slip happened and I ended up semi-tossing the phone on the ground. It was the one time I had taken the case off and well, you play with fire, you get burned.
I was wondering where it would be best to buy a hardcase for my new EVO (thank god for phone insurance), as well as screen protectors, and a charging cable (my other one has been subjected to lots of wear and tear and I have to bend it into mindboggling directions to get the phone to charge).
I'm try to go for at least bulk as possible but I still want some decent protection, any recommendations?
I bought the innocase rugged from Seido it has 180 degrww clip and a little bulky but great protection.
otterbox, ballistic and trident all seem to be the top cases for evo's.
personally, i currently recommend the trident cyclops.
sorry about your phone man.
I have had my phone since the IO conference... I haven't put anything on it... still haven't broken it

I really like that case, where did you get it? I can only find it on ebay from a couple chinese sellers.
I personally went with a smoke colored tpu case from Luxmo. It serves hard case protection with a mix of gel case and almost not there feeling.

That's where I first spotted it but I ended up buying at Carry Mobile.

I'm guessing it's the same people as it shipped from Hong Kong, took almost 3 weeks.
I Have the Seidio Innocase II and holster. Just got my wife the active limited edition. One thing to watch out for with the holster is your side brushing up against something and unlatching the phone.(like your seat belt latch) Because of this, my evo took a three foot fall a few days ago. It landed on the corner and cartwheeled down my driveway. The only damage was a few scuffs on the case. This is my fourth phone with the seidio cases on them. I used to be a field service technician and I was really hard on my phones. Every phone I have had has taken several falls to concrete, dirt and rocks. I even cracked the seidio case that I had on my tour. I figured the case did its job and bought a new one. I know a lot of people like the otterbox and other cases, but I really like the seidio holster set up. Im thinking about stepping up to the extended rugged case if I get the extended battery. Don't like the idea of losing the kickstand though.

catseyenu,
how does the flip cover on the Jacka model stay shut? I see a little lip on top that acts as a fastener. Does it work well? If the phone were to fall out of my hands, I would want the flap to stay shut.

The leather is encasing a thin rigid (plastic?) frame that adds tension to the clasp.
I've had it about a month and it's worked well so far, the only concern I have is if the leather bands at the bottom stretch out it could become loose.
If that occurs I know a good boot maker that can fix it for me.

[Q] Poetic Slimline vs. Moko Slim case

Hey I am deciding between the Moko Slim case and the Poetic Slimline case.
They're practically the same and price is not so much of an issue but I was wondering about protection from falls, issues with magnets scratching screens, and long-term wear and tear of the products.
Any recommendations?

I bought the Moko for my first case and it was alright for the most part. The tab that hooks around the N7 to close the cover is a PITA. I tried bending it out a little and broke it. That prompted me to purchase the Poetic case and I really like it. Simple design and does it's job.
Of the two I would vote for the Poetic.
i bought a generic "made in china" rotating case from ebay. quality is more or less as same as the "branded" ones.
even branded ones dont last long. a friend's i-pad case (veryy expensive one) literally came apart after about 6 months of use. so if you are gonna buy a new one roughly every year, i suggest buy a knock off
I bought the Moko slimline case from Amazon. All in all it seems like a good case. The only small issue I have with it (and I'm sure it's the same with all cases like this). When you fold the front cover over and use it in book mode the front cover has a lot of play up and down while you hold it. It's almost like there is too much material in the spine. If someone has the Poetic and could comment on if his is the same I'd love to know. I've considered returning this one and trying the Poetic.
I have the moko multi angle case as well as the regular(which I have yet to use) and I am very happy. I do agree that the tab that holds the case shut is somewhat a pain but not enough for me to not recommend it. I got it dirt cheap as well(12 bucks I think)

Just received my moko case today. I can't say i would recommend it as it caused my top speaker to stop working.

I've owned the poetic slimline case since july, when the nexus 7 2013 came out. Use it nearly on a daily basis and haven't had any issues with it
Had my Poetic for two months and the magnets are falling out and the plastic holding them in is cracking. I would rather pay a little more than have to buy a case two or three times within a year. Cheap crap.
Thanks for all the responses.
I ended up purchasing the Moko slim case.
I didnt want to have any issues with the magnets falling out and I didn't particularly like the logo on the front.
I've had the moko for about a week and I've liked it a lot so far. The case feels pretty premium and soft. The inner is a soft microfiber. The back has a hard plastic outline in addition to the fake leather center. This protects it fairly well as I have dropped it from a medium height (3 feet or less) a couple of times and it is fine. The magnet in the flap works excellently with the auto on-off functionality. I have tried NFC and it works through the case. I've also heard wireless charging works though I have not verified this. Some issues I have with the case:
The inner of the flap is collecting some fuzz
The left side of the case seems to be a little loose
The magnets seem a little weak and slide left and right. It can also open the case if shaken upside down.
Overall an excellent case and I would recommend.

Seidio Dilex Case

Hey XDA,
I recently ordered this case to replace my Ringke Fusion (which I both like and hate) and hopefully I will like it enough to keep it as my long term case. I haven't noticed much as far as reviews for this particular case so I was thinking of doing one for it. I have a new qi charger coming with it so I should be able to test that and see if it adversely affects the glass screen protector I have on right now. If anyone out there is interested in pictures of the case on the phone or anything like that, let me know and I'll do my best to include them when I review it on Thursday, I'm a little bit of a case junkie and typically try out several for my phones during their life time, but this is the first higher end case I'll have for the N5 and I'm really excited to see how it turns out.

Probably no real reviews of this case because they're already well-known. Others have already posted, and I'll back it up, Qi wireless charging works perfectly with it. Simply the best cases you can buy. Also, the holsters are pretty fantastic.
I got the case in today and as apparently everyone knows already, this case is quality made. I previously had a Ringke fusion case on my N5 and liked being able to see the nexus logo, but hated the tpu layer and how the back collected dust every time it was put into a pocket. I decided to go with a more traditional 2 layer case and I thought that the Seidio Dilex looked the best out of the ones currently available.
Pros:
- After seeing the product in person, I'm immediately sold on this design. The case is much darker black than it appears on the website (bright lighting in their product photos) and the rubberized coating on the PC layer is the classic silky smooth texture that Seidio is known for and has used for years. On a side note, the other colors are actually really nice looking too if you prefer something other than black and it looks like they have the same texture coating. The case feels really good in hand because of the soft texture and the silicone actually feels really similar.
- The kickstand also adds just a little weight to the bottom of the phone and makes it somewhat easier to balance, hold and manipulate with one hand. Speaking of the kickstand, it's actually aluminum instead of plastic which is a nice touch. The best part is that the kickstand is spring loaded (slightly) to the outward position but also contains a magnet to hold it securely in place when not in use. It appears to be pretty well attached to the case so hopefully it will hold up over time.
- The ports are all pretty well lined up with the cutouts and they seem big enough to accommodate most cables.
- Qi charging works just fine, at least on the cheap chinese one I also got in today. NFC doesn't appear to be affected either, although I only tried once.
- I'm currently using a Nillkin glass screen protector and it appears that the silicone is soft enough not to interfere with the edges of the screen protector. May not be the same with other brands.
Cons:
- The only thing I can think of is that because the outer layer only presses the edges in the middle and corners, the silicone seems to be a little loose or saggy inbetween the "arms" of the outer shell. I'm hoping that settles into place over time but if it catches on my pockets too much, it might actually get worse.
- The sticky texture is great for grip, but also picks up a lot of dust, but that's not news to anyone who has used a silicone case before.
In conclusion, I'd probably give this case 4.7 out of 5 stars. I like just about everything about it but I wish the silicone they used was just a little less pliable.
Pictures of the Case
Sorry, I know the pictures are garbage (I had to take them with my old phone so the N5 could be in the case) but I'd be happy to answer any questions y'all might have.

Looks real nice little too thick for my taste though.

This looks almost exactly like the generic thick kickstand cases that are being sold under various brands at various prices.
Dilex Case and Qi
Good morning. I wanted to follow up on your case experience with Qi charging I put this case on a Samsung Galaxy S5 and used a powerbot circular charging pad. I found that to get the charger aligned, I needed to prop the device up on the kickstand so it was a little firther from the pad, and I could not get a charging lock.
I'm trying to figure out if that is a function of the powerbot's charging signal or the anatomy of my Qi pad. Does your phone sit square on the charging pad? or is it propped up on the kickstand?
Thanks,
Marcva

I own it, but I didn't review it like I normally do. Not sure why. The case is a very good case for a 20 dollar case. It's basically a bugdroid tpu hot glued into a wallet case. It's a bit bulky, but the majority of that is the tpu case itself. The case is a smart case and the clasp is nice and strong. However the clasp is a bit of annoyance to me because it sits awkwardly on my wireless chargers. The best qi charger I have to use it with is the Tylt Vu because it can accommodate landscape charging. The orb barely holds on and it just sits crooked because of the clasp. I'll sell it to you if you want. I have the whitish/black version.
From this wallet case, I went onto the Rock Slim Elegant case. VERY thin. Think of it as the Poetic Palette with a flip attached to it via hinge. Very slim compared to the Cruzerlite, but not as much overall protection. Plus the front flap doesn't stay closed, but I have it in my pocket anyway. Needless to say it works with wireless charging like a champ. However, not a smart case. No magnets on this case. I would say this would be the minimalist flip case. No card pockets here.
And then I found what I initially thought was the perfect slim wallet type case; the Seidio Ledger. I have come across an issue with what Seidio calls the soft touch on the case that holds the phone. While it feels like pure butter in your hand, my two cases resulted in the soft touch material rubbing off on various parts of the case. I have been working with Seidio for the past week and seeing if there is a fix for it. So the jury is out on it. I love it, it has a cut out for the LED, no other flip case I know of has this, the kickstand, not needed but nice to have, has a smart cover and the metal kickstand is not THAT obtrusive when placing in my various wireless qi chargers. I have the Tylt Vu, Nexus Wireless charger and the Nexus orb charger.

Nillkin Fruit/Fresh: Reviews?

Hey guys, I'll make this short and sweet. I've been looking around the boards for a few weeks for a simple flip cover that wont break the bank or damage my phone.
All I need is a good fit, earpiece hole and sleep/wake function (not spending $50 on the official LG flip cover though)
I came across this one on amazon:
http://www.amazon.ca/Nillkin-Fruit-...2338300&sr=8-1&keywords=Nexus+5+Nillkin+fruit
I haven't seen any reviews of this case other than a single sentence saying they didn't like the thickness and it is only one person's opinion.
Has anyone else had experience with this case? I'm mostly concerned about the polycarbonate inside scratching the corners of my Nexus.
Any input on this case is appreciated, but I am also open to other suggestions for cases that meet the above criteria.
Thank you!
I just got this in the mail today. Only $7.99 shipped from this seller:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/271320259952
I've always liked Nillkin products. Good quality stuff. This case is no exception. I got the black one. The case is a glossy polycarbonate. Fairly thick. It's a gunmetal metallic color. The flip cover is a sturdy leather like cover. The magnetic closure works really well. Sleep/Wake works great. The design of the magnetic closure reminds me of the great Poetic cases for tablets. The entire case gives the phone some weight and a very premium feel and look. Wireless charging works fine with the case on. I think it's better than the LG case and for only $7.99!
Hello
The serial number of the Nillkin Fresh Fruit can be used on a single device? I've first tested the case on my phone but now I want to use it on another phone. On the second phone it does not accept the serial number. What can I do ?
