I have had my P607T for a couple of months now. It is box stock no changes. Over the last few weeks I have noticed that it will reboot while using various apps. (Fliipboard, Chrome, Clash of Clans, Papyrus...) They don't seem to all be heavy graphics or network. The only symptom is that the screen starts to flash then "bang" reboot (and trouble rebooting when not plugged in). It would not be too annoying except that it will loose wifi settings and the wallpaper. I have tried different wallpapers (saw a thread blaming the live wallpapers ) Unloaded some apps (had another phone issue with FitBit and HTC blink on my N4). I stay away from CoC (my base has been raided so often now ...). Any thoughts? I am really trying to like this tablet more than my old ASUS Transformer but this reboot and reset wifi is a pain.
Thanks in Advance,

Have you tried a factory reset? I'd make tmobile replace it
was hoping to avoid the reset button. Tried it and still giving trouble it rebooted while restoring apps. I bought the tablet on ebay, I don't think TMO will take it back. oh well I'll keep poking about.
thanks,
I experience exactly the same problem since the update to 4.4.2 (kitkat): The screen starts to flash, suddenly the tablet reboots. I tried a factory reset multiple times, also removed the SD card and reflashed the ROM via KIES, nothing helped so far. Also, even when plugged into the outlet for several hours the tablet didn't charge at all (I think it stopped charging when the screen saver kicks in).
A couple of weeks ago I filed a RMA request (my dealer sent the tablet to Samsung), yesterday I got it back. It was charged at 60% and when I plugged it to the outlet it actually charged (even when the screen went off). But after about one hour (the battery was still > 60%) the flashing reappeared and after a while the tablet started to reboot again. Interestingly the battery now showed only 2% and the low battery warning appeared.
I think the problem might occur only when the battery runs low (which happens very fast as something seems to drain the battery), while android still shows a much higher battery level . Never experienced these problems when the tablet was plugged in so far.

At least I don't feel so alone with this issue... I have been paying more attention to my build up process since the factory reset. I found, the other night quite by accident, that when I logged in to Twitter the reboot started. So for the next few days I have left Twitter off the machine and it is doing better. I suspect that something is hitting the power drain (like you mention) and that causes it to have problems. In that thought I have also turned off the power saving mode and auto screen now just to add to the list of things I am avoiding.

Have you considered rooting and using root apps to stop the apps from being able to do such things?

Is your phone rooted? No, it's not the reason, but it may help.
Prosecutor: Objection! Judge - relevance?
Me: Your Honor, I have a point.
Judge: Sustained, you may proceed.
Hi thanks for the answer yes my phone is rooted
Cannot in any way connect the root status of the phone (?) to excessive drain on the watch.
First day of using it (got it yesterday) I got about 6 hours out of my watch. I went through playing with everything yesterday already, so not that much action today, only the regular Gmail and Hangouts notifications. Top consumer, as per the OP an unnamed app. I would have expected more from my watch, to be honest. Ideas?
Oh, and got the update notification for 5.0.2 directly after turning it on and pairing, so I'm on 5.0.2 already.
Same here

Hi, i got the same issue since i updated to 5.0.2. I used to get a full heavy use day and still remain 30%40% at the end of the day, after the update i only get 11-12 hours of use. Any help will be highly appreciated.
Note: My phone is also rooted.
I'm not fully through testing/verifying the following, but I made an obervation.
I used the watch the other day and got about 18+ hours out of it. Dont know exactly, just put it on the charger and was happy still having juice left.
The following day, all was going well up until to that moment I started using a timer app on my phone, which counted down at 5 minute intervals and showed a live updating notification doing so. I didnt pay attention to the watch, as the timer is phone only, but as I checked the watch at some point for something different, I noticed the battery dropped significantly since I last checked. Upon checking the battery stats, I found that the charge started dropping at about the moment I started continuously timering.
I take from this, that when using tools which interact with or update your phones notification drawer, the watch will get somehow polled as well. But I am still investigating.
In case you wonder: its an ingress portal hack countdown timer.
Question about settings?

Do you by chance have your dev options enabled on your device that your Moto 360 is connected to? If so, I did a test on my device to see if that was a battery hog on my Moto 360 and turns out it seems to be. Un-named app (android icon) showing the most usage but the graph I have shows upon Dev options enabled, battery began to plummet badly. Just an observation. I perform testing on mobile and wearable as part of my job but I didn't have a way to analyze any logs for this wearable (moto 360). I don't have Moto's log analysis tool.
I do have dev options enabled. But as the watch is now generally behaving well, I don't think it's connected but happened to you by accident. This is only a guess though.
To be honest, I'm on xda with a couple of posts made already, of course I have dev options enabled  I use plenty of tools day in day out which need dev options. I also on a regular basis manipulate my device via adb, so dev options really is a must.
Anyway, I will observe this some more and get back to this thread in case I find any new developments.
Okay, this weekend, on a Friday, I drove to DC. As soon as navigation started on my Nexus 6, my watch started to display the navigation notifications. I quickly blocked the app, as I didn't want the 3+ hours of navigation to drain my watch.
2.5 hours into the trip, I look at my watch's battery, and it's down to 30%!!! I started the trip at about 90%. Not happy, very scared about running out of power. Figure out it's a bug, or whatever, and I factory reset that night.
During the weekend, while I'm in DC, I notice that it is not the normal battery life, despite a factory reset Friday night.
On the way home, Sunday, I noticed a huge drain as well. Not wanting to lose any more power, I turn it on AIRPLANE MODE when at 47%.
HERE'S WHERE IT GETS INTERESTING.
I get a notification that says something like "Maps Navigation App stopped." I don't remember the exact phrasing.
However, this leads me to believe that I was experiencing the battery drain because while I was blocking the Maps app, it was still running on my watch! What's up with that? I thought it totally stopped the app.
Am I correct? Does a blocked app still run while the watch despite being blocked?
IF so... how do I "fix" this? Is that possible?
Or, was something else draining my battery?

Okay, from another thread I was discussing on Android Central, another user found that Maps and probably other apps weren't totally OFF when the Notification was set to be BLOCKED. Meaning, even though you are Blocking a certain app, it appears that it is still running in the background of the watch, and that is leading to huge drains.
Anybody take any road trips or commuting with their moto360 and using Google Maps notice this?

I have this exact same issue. I use navigation a few days a week. I'm a new Moto 360 owner, so I thought it was just other battery issues. But it isn't. Its Navigation. Once I start navigation, by battery plummets. I can't stop it. Then the battery usage says that Bluetooth uses the most battery. So I am gonna keep trying different things. Don't factory reset your phone. It doesn't help. Resetting the watch doesn't help either. I think its an issue with Android 5.0.2. But that's a guess. What else can it be?

WHOA. Can anyone else confirm this? If so, if this is an Android Wear problem... does Google know? And how do we let them know?
I have this issue. I drove 3 hours with Google maps navigation today and my watch was dead upon arrival. It was at 95% when I left.

Mine also died again after three hours of driving yesterday, and this is with the latest Android Wear update (on the phone). When I tried to charge it, I got constant Google app and Android Wear crashes. I was finally able to reset the watch to get it back to working.

Mine has charged up normally before too, in fact it did last night. The one time it didn't was pretty scary though.

I'd like to know if this is fixed in 5.1.1 too. I'll ask in the Urbane section.

YES, definitely do that, thank you!!!
I have no idea why some person thought it was a good idea to program a feature to turn your device off randomly. My one year old woke me up this morning early, I went to check my phone to see what time it was but the screen wouldn't turn on.
I left it on my nightstand with well over 50% battery when I went to sleep, no apps running like usual. My device will lose 3-4% battery over night, so no big deal at ~50% battery overnight.
Continuing with the issue, I booted the phone up to see if the battery had drained or something but it was still at 50%. After it fully booted a message popped up stating something to the fact of:
"Wondering why your phone turned off? It was turned off to rest. Your phone needs to rest to continue operating at optimum levels. Using high draining applications like navigation and video streaming can hinder system performance"
Or some kind of BS like that. I wish at 3:30am I had the forethought to screenshot the message...
Has anyone else had this happen? The thing is, I barely used my phone all day. Literally a few minutes of talking, few texts, took a few pictures and browsed a few articles using chrome.
I rely on my phone for my alarm so if this randomly happens that could be bad if my daughter sleeps in!
BTW, I'm running @santod040 stock rooted 5.0.2 full version.
Mine has done the same a few times since the OTA. I'm 100% stock
Nice when you rely on your phone for an alarm, right?
Have same problem. Has happened about 3 times since lollipop update. Fully stock. I tried cache wipe but that hasn't fixed it.
I am 100% stock as well, unrooted and S-ON. This has happened about once per week. Phone shuts down by itself and displays a message upon restart (see attached).
I've asked HTC support and they've had me try safe mode and wiping cache partition, though it sounds like it's a more widespread problem than something caused by a third-party app.
About 3 days ago the battery drain on my Nexus 5X went crazy. I found out that the "app" Android System do not let the phone sleep and keeps it awake all the time. That is why the phone can not even get into doze mode and drains about 8% per hour when the screen is off. I tried restarting the device and also force stopping the Android System. Both without any succes. Do anybody knows what to do with it? Or should I just wait if it will go back to normal? I do have screenshots, but the XDA will not let me post outside links...
Interested about that.

I am having the same problem. It occurs randomly, most often when I have just charged the phone and removed the cable. If i am correct, a wakelock under the name *backup* is holding the phone awake, it might be the same in ur case. I've done a research on this, turned out this is unfixable unless you have some sort of wakeblocker, which my current rom lacks of. I tried using xposed with its modules, but it gave me a ton of bootloops and i gave up on it. The only temporary fix for me is to reboot the phone. Until it happens again. No clean flash nor anything i have tried seemed to have helped. I even tried disabling all services and receivers from Android System, no luck again. That is one hefty problem

I have exactly same problem with wakelock. It happens only after charging. Everything is OK after restart.
It has happened to me sometimes on my old HTC One X and I think it happened also once on this 5X, but it was just for about a day or so. It disappeared itself with time, I didn't do anything with it then. Now it's been 6 days, I have to charge the phone twice as frequently and neither the reboot nor the force stopping everything works. I really don't know what to do in this case. Also this phone isn't rooted yet, so I can't just flash the system again as on my old HTC... I'm still hoping it will disappear by itself asap
But do you anybody have any other ideas what can I try to do to stop that crazy system app?
same problem here...
had the phone about 350 hours with no restart and i thought i would give it a reboot..
same think happened...android system was going from 2% to 20% in a matter of hours..
installed an app called GSam Battery monitor..showed me the phone was not going in deep sleep (Doze mode) at all...
here is an attachment if anyone can understand better than me..
I posted a similar thing in the battery life thread. Very odd really as I've had the phone a few months now but it also only started with me a few weeks ago. Really can't think of a trigger for it... I doubt the April update would have been significant enough to create an issue, but who knows.
Exactly. After about 4 months of working excellently and about 400 hours without restarting, after charging it's immediately goes into this "mode" when the Android System won't let the phone sleep. Even restart didn't help me, but now after 3 restarts it goes to normal. One bad thing... after every single one charging, every time I put the phone on the charger it goes crazy again and I have to restart the phone after every cutting of of the charger... it makes me really angry when the phone is only 4 months old and even the "okay" battery life isn't that good on this phone... God I just need to find a solution, that's insane...

THIS!!!!
the phones battery life was a big "ok i can just play a bit less so i can get through the day and IF anything happens i know it has fast charge so ok"
nowadays i have to reboot after EVERY charge....
p.s.
anyone that faces the same problem but WITH mai's security update? do we have any hope that it will fix that problem?
Not sure if it's a one-off, but I decided to uninstall the game "8 Ball Pool" by miniclip as it appeared on my battery usage stats when I'd not opened it in days. Since then, even after a recharge, the phone seems to be going to sleep as normal.
I'll monitor to see how things go but perhaps it could genuinely be a rogue app. It's a little disappointing that doze wouldn't block the keep awake requests - I thought that was one of the main purposes of it.
The same issue occurs for my Nexus 5X: after device disconnected from a charger, Android System process starts to keep device awake until next restart. As I understand from comments above factory reset does not help to solve a problem. Has anybody met the similar problem with custom ROMs/kernels?

It started with the latest update I think. It hasn't happened once ever before. I hope they already know what's happening and with the May update it will be gone. I don't think there's any other solution when you don't want to flash custom ROM and stay on stock... :/ we have to wait.. :/

Hmmm, sorry for offtopic clarification... as of now I'm little bit confused about Android versioning, especially it's unclear for me: whether you mean as latest update: 6.0.1 or april security patch or model build number (like MHC19Q, which is currently on my device)?
I guess it must be April security patch. Some kind of problem in the Android System app that comes with the security patch. I don't really know in this case, but as I've said, it hasn't happened once before the April patch

I rolled back to MHC 19J. The April MTC19T Build cut my battery life in half. Android system being the top culprit. Deep sleep never going over 80%. Horrible idle drain. Would drain 15% over night while i slept. Exact same setup as before, no new apps. SOT went from about 5 hours to not even 3.

MTC19T is May update. I've updated my device to it yesterday and the issue hasn't been fixed yet: a device is still kept awake by Android System after disconnecting from a charger. @ScumDroid, could you please confirm there is no such issue on MTC19J after rolling back?

Same issue. After running it for few months flawlessly, the Android System is keeping the device awake and only restarting it solving the problem temporarily. Charging the phone again starts the wake lock..
Most disappointing is it's the 'Android System' that causing the problem. If any app/game is linked to this, it should have been appeared as the culprit but unfortunately it's that 'System'.
Waiting for solution.
Samsung users are having the same problem.
I have found something on my Samsung Galaxy S6 in regards to 'Android OS' killing the battery. It might be the same for Nexus users, I've confirmed this on a Moto G 2015 running the latest MM update and on a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. By latest update, I mean the April security patch.
Check this and this.
