I think you need a common file like with SlimICS, but I can't seem to find it. 70mb is on the small side for a JB rom

Huge thanks Val D. Should have had more coffee.lol
Completely missed the unsupported files on the slim site.
You have a great day!

No problem. Navigation on slimroms.net is a bit confusing. Unfortunately, they delete older builds. In my opinion build 6 was best 4.2.2 based Slim. If you are looking for a light and fast ROM, than try ported CyanCore v.4.0.0 (CM based) and GamerzROM v4.0, both stripped down versions of CM10.1, Android 4.2.2. Both are stable and good for daily use.

CM10 4.1.2 12/16 Nightly

Just wondering if anyone is still running this? I seen this is the last version before the 10.1 started. I want to run the CM10 because 10.1 still has some bugs.
Just some quick questions
1. Does MMS work?
2. Are there any major bugs?
Again this is for the 12/16 CM10 4.1.2 nightly.
Sent from my stock rooted Galaxy S3
im still running it and its perfect.. everything works and has great battery life.
im using the kt747 kernel with it and oc to 1.8
The latest nightly builds of CM have a FEW bugs...but still quite stable/usable. I run the 12/16 build every once in awhile, but the new nightly's are so damn smooth.
Also, give LiquidSmooth RC2 a try. Virtually bug free. The Stable release of LiquidSmooth has a few bugs, but again, still very stable.
If your going for a virtually BUG FREE AOSP Rom, I would advise LiquidSmooth RC2 with the latest BMS Kernel. Tweak it to OnDemand/Row : 126 min, 1512max, and you will be quite pleased.
Generally the CM versions up to the latest official release are very stable
As in, the latest official release was MB1 (4.1.2) so you can expect CM 4.1.2 to be very stable
Its when you go past the official release versions that you start encountering more bugs, like in CM 10.1 (4.2.1 and 4.2.2)
I just tried out Liquidsmooth. It's not a bad rom, just don't like the fact it looks like a theme.
Yeah I know CM uses a launcher as well, but overall it looks like a stock JB rom. Flashed cm10 nightly 12/16. Runs great with no issues or freezing. Once we get the official 4.2.2 I'll update to cm10.1.
Sent from my stock rooted Galaxy S3
If anyone uses cm10 (4.1.2) stable, I have the handoff update still if you want it.

[Q] Latest stable Firmware for Xperia S

Hi guys, i tried a lot of firmwares for my XS and havn't found a real smooth working one yet. Can anyone recommend me a good rom that's around latest android 4.2.2 and does work completely? I was very happy with the CM builds from freexperia but recently i found major bugs around the cam function (melting video after recording ~ 10m), HDMI (flickering or doesnt work at all) and trebuchet does crash sometimes..
Things i tried so far:
FXP 209 - 217
Official CM 9.1
MIUI 3.2.22 / 3.2.8
PAC 19.3 / 19.3.2
OpenSEMC Beta 2
Maybe there is just a version of the roms i mentioned thats very stable and i havn't tried, but maybe there's something other out there thats STABLE.. I looked around xda, but wasn't lucky finding a rom thats as stable as the stock.
I know that everyone hates those newb questions and it really sounds like i just should google or check all the threads here again but as you can see, i already tried so mutch that a'm a bit tired bein the dummy ;D.
Did you try official jelly bean leak? Heard that it is good. I think it is not allowed ask such question. May be I am wrong.
Anyway here is the link: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2252940
Yeah you should definitely check the leaked JB rom out if you have an unlocked bootloader. Near as stable as stock and fast as any JB rom.
You should try the latest official jb leak, really smooth!

Try the PAC rom v22.1.1, works pretty good for me and there are lots and lots of customization. also, Slim Bean build 5! together with RaymanFX's Opensemckernel, im sure you'll like it too :good::laugh:
OP try them all, all are great ROMs....Thank you.

wi-fi signal......

sory if i post in wrong place.
my problem?
i use a lot wi-fi......
I try vanir aosp rom (based on cyanogenmod) and i have AMAZING wi-fi everyware.....
but i dont want a "havy" rom like this one.
I like Iridescent_Zed_III odexed(or not odexed),but there is a weak wi-fi.I try difrends basebands,other kernel,still weak.....
Vanir aosp is using baseband 77, Iridescent_Zed_III is usin 77 too.
What makes the difrent?kernel?
any idea?

to keep it short:
baseband has nothing to do with ROM. (you have to flash it manually, never changes on ROM flash. the 77 one is the last from stock rom )
now difrences between vanir aosp & Iridescent_Zed_III:
vanir aosp:
- its latest android KK 4.4.2 running on 3.4 kernel (new & powerful, but not as stable as stock.)
Iridescent_Zed_III:
-its BASED on android ICS 4.0.4 running on 2.x.xx kernel (dont know exact) its based on latest firmware we've got official from SONY. its the stablest one, when you will. but its laggy & old.
there are many things affecting the wifi (drivers inside rom, kernel, baseband, ''tweaks'' inside, even router's play a role, etc....) so its hard to say what exactly will make it better / worse. you will have to test it yourself to say if its better or not.
my advice: you say vanir had the better wifi, but its to ''heavy'' (even i dunno what u mean exactly..) so i would recommend to give Legacy Xperia ROM a shot. i think you will get the most out of it. also if you dont need to have the latest android (just want USE your phone) then use android 4.2.2 JB (CM10.1) its the bets mix of power & still very usable. in addition its keep very clean & lightweight.

good luck
Thank you for your time.
I testet 11 first...
Laggy, and what about video recording,5 seconts to start.........

Anyone else feel JB was still the "best" version for GNEXUS?

Anyone else feel JB was still the "best" version for GNEXUS?
I've been a flash addict since I got the phone. Always going for the experimental, nightly builds and such.
However, I am getting tired of my gnexus lagging, and slowing down randomly. I've always felt 4.1 JB was very responsive and good memory management for my phone. anyone feel the same way?
4.1 has been the only version of Android I've not had any issues with and I'm still running today.
I think people just get to caught up on having/running the latest/greatest Android version, when really our GN was made to run perfectly on JB 4.1.
4.2 was made for N4
4.4 for N5
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Me too. But ATM I have cm11 (4.4) and it's not bad at all.

4.1 you say?
Mine came with 4.2 so will give 4.1 a try. Battery life was not good with stock 4.2 but better with fancy kernel or any of the newer ROM.
I tried CM11, Avatar, Slim, PA, Vanir and others.

I don't think any particular Android version is "made" for a device in particular.
Yes, Jelly Bean originally debuted on the 2012 Nexus 7 and the Nexus 4 saw the next major update but that doesn't mean that Android still can't run on any other device provided that the kernel and ROM are optimized for it. Those devices were just test/reference devices for development.
I have cyanogenmod Kitkat on my device and it runs as good (or better) than stock Jelly Bean.
It's like Windows 8. It runs good on some PCS, whereas on others it lags a bit.
Software is software and to the device it's all the same.
I'm also trying this theory ATM, will upgrade to a new phone soon but 4.4 has really been really slow after a while on my Gnex, even after converting to f2fs..
In other news, I now need to post in general discussion until I have enough posts to post in development so here goes.
For those of you still on 4.1, would you mind uploading and sharing the roms you are using?

But I've flashed all these files dozens of times over the past 2 years without any issues, after being disappointed from testing out 4.2+, 4.3+ and 4.4+ custom ROM's.

This is more than enough. Thank you!
i'm running omni on my toroplus now 4.4.4 and i would have to say this is much better than the stock roms (i've ran 4.1/4.2/4.3) and they all work, but i really dig the 4.4 only camera from google and i'm a version junkie...
i did try just stable releases from CM all the way back to 4.1.2 but couldn't get random things working and didn't feel like taking the time...
so far, between working 4g/3g handoff's, more stable wifi, access to the latest apps that need 4.4 (camera is the only one that comes to mind) i'll run omni...still hoping that the awesome kernel guys will get 3.4 working and we can move to android L for some of that awesome battery life

actually, galaxy nexus was "made to run" ICS if you recall correctly
JB debuted with the original nexus 7

True...
But ICS 4.0 was essentially JB 4.1 without Google Now.
Where JB 4.2+ added multiple changes to various app designs:
Camera

Um, "Project butter" was introduced with JB 4.1. I know everyone was after that on their ROMs...
The best Android versions for the Galaxy Nexus are definitely 4.1 and 4.3 final releases. The problems with 4.4.x that finally made me ditch it are the unfixed radio issues and subsequent battery drain. I've heard that some roms such as Dirty Unicorns, Omnirom, and Slimkat have this fixed, or at least the radio cutout issue. My favorites though that give me good battery, performance, and features are 4.1.2 LiquidJB and 4.3.1 Vanir, the latter being my daily driver.
This folder includes 4.1.2 gapps and a few other addons (flash rom, gapps, then addons):

Is there a bug-free lollipop rom?

hi guys, my friend want me to reset his gnex, i had it long time ago, and for me the best and smoothest rom was stock 4.1.2. i flashed paranoid kitkat rom for him ,but is not as fast or stable as 4.1.2.
i noticed that some lollipop rom are out, but with a lot of bugs. is there any lollipop rom that have no bugs?

All ROMs - both official builds from Google and Custom ROMS from our talented developers here on XDA - have bugs. Just a fact of digital life!
If you want the most stable build available, you're probably best served by Google's official releases. Scroll down for the different GNex versions/links.
If you want Lollipop, check out the Android Development board. Plenty of great developers and ROMs to chose from there. I have a 5.1 ROM linked in my signature below, as well.

thanks for the answer. i will try this 5.1 rom. Some roms have little bugs, and others like lollipop roms make the device not good for daily driver, like the camera not saving pictures, green lines on video etc. i will try some roms and leave the most stable on his device, but i think i will flash 4.1.2 in the end.

Man this device was a pain for me today. after wiping to install 4.1.2 the device disconnected. and the usb connector i think is faulty. i had to flash every bit of rom in fastboot and a lot of errors. so i installed 4.0 rom because system.img was smaller and took a lot of time to copy the 300mb file and finally the device booted. i ota to 4.1.1 and i think i will ota manually to 4.1.2 because on device already appeared 4.2.2 ota. do you think is worth update all the way to 4.3? the device is smooth and i like the camera app better than 4.2 rom with that awful lag to rotate. do you think is better have an updated device or keep it in 4.1.2?
AOSP Lollipop 5.1- a wee better than stock is the best lollipop I could find yet. It is near-stock Android, and the overall performance is very good comparing it to the age of this device. The only bad thing I can say about this device isbthat the battery is draining faster(it might be an issue with my phone). If you are brave enough(such brave, much wow), you can try to overclock to 1.5 and the performance will improve by a lot
