I just got my replacement phone which came out of nowhere. I have the desire z rom on the phone and I don't have a recovery backup. Is there a way to revert back completely to stock and have my root removed?
I just flashed the stock shipped rom onto my phone. How can I tell if I'm back to a non rooted phone. I know it suppose to say S-on or S-off somewhere.
Thanks.
So I just checked and it says S-ON does that mean I'm good to send this thing back in? and HTC / TMO i played with it?
If you reflashed the original shipping rom then you're good. I don't think they check but always never hurts to return it to thee way it was when u got it.

You can check by pressing volume down + power and going into Hboot. Then see if s-on. You're back to unroot.

How did you go about unrooting? That would be most helpful to know.

I was on the desire z rom and i just flashed the stock rom (shipped rom).
O.K. Since I have just purchased my One. I was wondering what is the best and easiest way to gain access to root. I know there are a lot of people on he that have put a lot of work into ways to root, roms and other goodies. I just don't want to screw up my new phone.

There's only 2 ways. Send it to sonic for java card or use rumrunner. Either way is no worries about breaking it.

Your best option, and really your only one, outside of shipping your phone out to get java card S-OFF.
we now have a software S-OFF process.
It's called "rumrunner" link here
although I sent mine out to Sonic before this process was released, so I am yet to use it, but it looks very easy.
after this, ADB push a recovery, flash a ROM and you are rooted and ROMmed.
Super easy. Downloaded and s-off'd in 5 minute

It took me longer than 5 minutes for me but rumrunner worked for me yesterday morning and was super simple.
Do I get the HTC drivers from the htcdev website?

Here's a nice trick, download the HTC Sync for our phone, and it will install the drivers, then remove HTC Sync, but the drivers remain.
I don't know what's going on? I have rooted 3 other phones and not had these problems. When I start the rumrunner program it gets to the boot loader and says the device driver software was not installed successfully.

Anyone near Raleigh NC that wants some extra cash......lol. I know it's on my end I just don't know what's wrong. I downloaded HTC sync. Loaded everything then deleted sync. No clue.

Ok.... Whew. It says.... Unlocked and I have s-off. But I downloaded rom manager and tried to install cwm recovery and it says that I have to be rooted. I thought I was rooted. Any help please.

Tried root checker and it says I have no root. No busy box, no us, no superuser.......any ideas?

Download the cwm img or the twrp img and flash via fastboot
Code:
fastboot flash recovery (put the name of the recovery, or rename to recovery.img).img
Then download the su.zip and flash in recovery.

Download your recovery from the Verizon HTC One Original Development section.
Not from ROM Manager.
It needs to be for the m7vzw.
Flash it in fastboot.
Then flash superuser in recovery or flash an already rooted ROM.

Santod......what's going on. I remember you from the Thunderbolt. Good to see you on a forum again. Hope all is well. I can not figure out why in having these problems. Once I finished rumrunner. It said enjoy the rum, click enter to exit. But during the loading sequence it said device not connected and clearly it was. I tried repeating my steps but came up with the same results. I know I have an unlocked downloader and I have s-off.

How do I go about flashing in fastboot? Do as Tyler suggested?

From your fast boot/adb directory:
Fastboot flash recovery nameoffile.img
Grab either twrp or cwm from flyhalfs threads in original Vzw dev.
I'm doing well, good to see familiar folks.

So on my htc one i ran rumrunner to get root and installed superuser and flashed CWM. well before i couldnt get CWM to flash so while some people on here tried to help me one person decided to be a troll and said to run "fastboot oem writesecureflag 3" and it made my phone S-on, i havent flashed any new recoveries or anything and i was wondering if i could get S-on. my phone speaker has blown and i need to get my phone back to stock so i can bring it in under warranty.

So will I have to use the decrypted or encrypted one?
And do I have to do it differently depending if I have the encrypted or decrypted one?
With being s on I believe you have to push the signed version via adb.

I did everything right and now I'm stuck with Rooted and Unlocked Bootloader but I can't turn S off I want to install customs ROMs. Ugh. I do the Firewater method. It works fine up until last step a ns tell me sorry you will never be able to unlock me

As far as I'm aware, not everyone's M8 has had success with S-Off, yet. I'm sorry to say, you may be one of the unlucky ones for now. Hopefully something comes along that will work for everyone.
I would just add that you don't need s-off to use custom Rom. Just go and flash away.?

Yep much better than the crap we put up with on the One S.
I know there are tons of threads about this and I tried to find the correct ones, but I just want to double check I'm doing this correctly. If someone could just give me the basic steps to follow I will be more than grateful.
Basically, the phone needs to be sent back to HTC soon so I want it to be official. Right now, I am S-OFF, TWRP, and running ViperRom. I have an sd card.
Thanks
Flash a RUU? You're s-off, just change the cid and flash away. There are some guides in the general forums

In a similar boat, but I'm s-on. What's the best and easiest method? I'm unlocked with Viper Rom.

If your carrier has an RUU that's the only method. Unless you have a system image backup that you made in TWRP prior to rooting.
Thanks, found an ruu
