How to verify i'm back to stock and non rooted? - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just got my replacement phone which came out of nowhere. I have the desire z rom on the phone and I don't have a recovery backup. Is there a way to revert back completely to stock and have my root removed?
I just flashed the stock shipped rom onto my phone. How can I tell if I'm back to a non rooted phone. I know it suppose to say S-on or S-off somewhere.
Thanks.
So I just checked and it says S-ON does that mean I'm good to send this thing back in? and HTC / TMO i played with it?

If you reflashed the original shipping rom then you're good. I don't think they check but always never hurts to return it to thee way it was when u got it.

You can check by pressing volume down + power and going into Hboot. Then see if s-on. You're back to unroot.

How did you go about unrooting? That would be most helpful to know.

How can I remove stock apps

How to remove stock apps ?
rooted HTC Evo with UnrEVOked 3 using stock 2.2 Froyo Rom
I was told to try titanium backup app but that didn't work either
Root explorer also didn't do much .
Anyone know a way that really works ? I just can't stand those apps running in the background all day .

Titanium Backup and Root Explorer should both work. If they arent, maybe you arent fully rooted. And FYI, the apps are not "running" in the background, just cached.
Good to know thx
So how do I turn fully rooted ?
Is this that Nand unlock ? That I keep reading in the forums ? I'm still new at this .
Thx for your help again

The problem may be that the rom isn't rooted. I'm presuming that since you are "rooted" you have a custom recovery (clockworkmod/AmonRa). Try flashing a stock froyo rooted rom. I believe Sprint lovers will do the trick, though i've never flashed a stock rooted rom. it will give you root privileges sufficient enough to remove system apps
I'm using the stock Froyo 2.2 Rom
Rooted via UnrEVOked 3 .

[Q] Help needed to get OTA 2.3.4

Purchased a used G2 on ebay - phone was rooted and I believe CM7 installed - clockworkmod came up and I tried to install a custom rom and was only getting white HTC screen.
At this point I really just want the latest official gingerbread 2.3.4 on the phone (even if it means getting an original stock rom then getting the OTA update thru t-mobile). I don't care if its rooted or not. (Picture of HBOOT screen attached below)
What is the easiest and fastest way to do this from what I have on my phone at this point? If I just factory reset from this menu will I still have to get a stock a rom and put it on my sdcard?
Just flash the rooted version from the dev thread dude

Either that or if you don't care about root, flash pc10img of ota gb.

You are stuck s_on? So just use an ruu to get back to sock then...?
just curious, but why would you go back to stock?

use the search functions in the developers section for a thread on returning to stock. also depending on what guide you followed to root your phone there may be a link to unroot and return to orginal state. remember going back to stock does not mean you have to have s-on so just flashing the orginal ota should bring you back to a similar state.
I'm not going to persudae you but I feel you haven't tried the right roms, 90% of them are far batter than stock
