Android Revolution on the Verizon Variant? - Verizon HTC One (M7)

I was just wondering if anyone with the Verizon One has tried Android Revolution HD. I know that our friends at Verizon always segment off their phones but this is a Rom I would really like to try. I probably could do the work required to get it up and running on our phone but I was just wondering if someone has experience running this on our One. Is it just a matter of getting the Verizon radios within the Rom or does it need to be fully ported to run on the Verizon version?

I asked mike who is the developer for android revolution and he has no plans to port toVerizon. You can search the forum for my response from him.
FYI I have tried Android Revolution ROM and it is pretty Wesome. I used it on friends AT&T htc one. Not sure if anyone else will try to port this but hopefully

AT&T Tilt2

For various reasons I am stuck with AT&T. I could list but I won't waste your time.
I want an android phone so I can write my own apps. I am a java developer and I have spent some time with the android SDK and I like it and it fits what I am doing. Bla Bla Bla. The new motorola phone is not yet rooted. It also looks a little under powered, although I like the funky form factor.
Is the HTC Tilt 2 a good choice? It appears there is a rom from this site that I can load on the Tilt 2 and it will work for the most part? Android 2.1?
I see someone just got wi-fi going on this phone. What will and will not work work with this rom?
Can I purchase the Tilt 2 from At&t and have 3g and voice work on their network?
Thanks for any and all advice!

From what I understand those ports are still not 100% ported over. I was just recently at ATT store and was told by the end of this month or the begining of next ATT will be getting there first android phone. so if its possible you might want to wait a lil while.
As for 3g service working on other carriers... again from what I understand and some personal experience this is not possible at least between ATT and t-mobile... They use diferent bands for there 3g service. and im sure you know ATT is GSM which means they are not compatible with Verizon or sprint.
The HTC Desire ( HTC branded Nexus One ) is slated for AT$T, that is what I am waiting for.
I would be patient and not lock myself into new contract. As stated above, Android on WM is just a port and always will be and will never be a fast or smooth or as fully featured as a phone running Android natively. As you are testing new apps, you will always be determining whether it is indeed the app that is buggy or the app running on a ported version of Android that is the problem.

Froyo & Flash Player upgrade

Hi All, Im a Flash Developer and want to get a phone for FLash mobile dev. I cant get the Nexus One where I live (South Africa) but we can get the Desire.
So my question is this, will the HTC Desire get the Froyo upgrade as soon as the Nexus One does?
Does anyone know how the Flash Player for mobile be rolled out? I can t find anything on it anywhere.
also interested in an answer to this... I know the Desire rom has been ported to the N1 but has the reverse been done and if not is it possible.
Very close to buying a Desire for it optical controller and slightly upgrade RAM but would like the option of moving to a fully functional Android 2.2 if HTC take ages releasing their own update (which is inevitable!)

Going by HTCs previous form, almost certainly not, though given how new the Desire is I would hope that HTC already have plans for an upgrade in the pipeline.
As I see it, the biggest issue with getting any form of Froyo onto the Desire is that we will need a 2.6.32 kernel.
Currently, HTC have not released the kernel source for the Desire, which makes it pretty much impossible for anyone to port the Desire specific parts of 2.6.29 to 2.6.32.
Given that the Nexus One and the Desire are very similar, it is likely that their aren't too many differences in the kernel source, but the current lack of the code for the Desire means we just don't know.
Regards,
Dave
Flash Player
Im happy to run 2.1 on the Desire, but I'm really getting it for Flash.
So does anyone know how Flash will be installed on the OS? Will it come with the update or will it come as an application that one can install?
Maybe HTC aint released the kernal for this very reason, that they dont want people to port over 2.2 from N1 ROM update.
According to a user in a german forum, HTC will release an update to 2.2 one month later: http://translate.google.de/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.android-hilfe.de%2F307474-post57.html&sl=de&tl=en&hl=&ie=UTF-8
I hope it's true
As far as I know Adobe will release Flash for Android in multiple ways and one of them is through the Android Market for all compatible devices.
So even if the Desire wouldn't get 2.2 for some time, Flash 10.1 should be available for the Desire from start (as HTC has marketed the Desire being Flash 10.1 ready).
Anybody got any real evidence of how this will happen?
Will be really cool if all devices get it as an install through the market but this is all still pure speculation?
Why is all this so tight lipped, we all know Flash Player is coming, why does it matter how it is coming?
Gotta love all the conjecture on these forums.
Not sure if this helps, but my desire HAS flash support. It works quite well though streaming video doesn't seem to work. Download video works most of the time (i.e. youtube etc.).
That's Flash Lite. This will be full Flash.

It will be awesome to get froy one month after its release, but since i'm also from the good old South Africa i must inform you that even if HTC releases the update we (South Africans) have to wait for leaf and our "wonderful" network operators to test it as well...thats now unless you root you phone and get a ROM from XDA
Wouldnt it be a liiiiiiitle too strange if we Desire users wont get it... I mean if u compare Nexus One with Desire ther isnt realy much difference ore am i very wrong :S
now the kernal has been released, it may be possible for them to port over the current 2.1 N1 ROM to Desire. If that works then they can do it for 2.2.

No your right except for the fact that the nexus uses googles UI (user interface) and rhe desire uses htc's Sense UI, so the qeustion is not if it will work but when will htc port it to their UI...or thats how I understand the situation.
Just got a reply on a email I sent to HTC regarding the update to 2.2 (Froy) for the desire
This is the reply I got:
"Good Day Thank you for contacting HTC Support. We have received your email regarding the availability of the Android 2.0 software . We are still awaiting for feedback from Google SA on the (TA ) of the Android 2.0 version . Should you have any other queries please feel free to contact us again . Kind Regards HTC Support"
Not sure if this only counts for SA but doesn't really sound like the guy knows what hes talking about because i specifically asked about Android 2.2 aka Froy. We already have Android 2.0...

Rom compatibility on the different versions of the m8?

I was just curious if all or some roms found here would be compatible with the various US versions of the M8, i am looking to upgrade from an EVO 4G LTE and have never had a phone where each carrier has their own version ( like the M8, M7, GS4, GS5, etc.). Im guessing most if not all AOSP roms would be compatible, but i noticed only some of the sense roms were compatible with the differet versions of the phone.
Any info would be greatly appreciated, and i look forward to joining this community!

I think they should be compatible and if not it would be mentioned in the rom thread. I know that viper supports some carriers or maybe all not sure
You'd really have to go and check in the specific ROM threads that you're thinking about flashing. Some do. Some don't.
Thanks I just got my m8 actually can't wait to unlock this bad boy

GPe rom for 816 ?

Hello everyone !
I'm landing here since my old xperia S feels like it's dying, so, wanting a HTC device, the only one whch was availabe
from my phone operator was this one.
I think this one doesn"t look very popular, but I was wondering if there was a way to convert it to google play edition like
it's possible on the one or one m8.
Thanks !

Well you can flash CM11 or CM12 which is more or less the same.
And an AICP ROM is in the works.
Just out of curiosity, why want a HTC phone specifically if you are just planning on changing it to Google Play edition anyways?
Well it is mostly a money thing... I don't have a lot of it and I'm getting tired of a laggy xperia (it has an aosp ROM but it's laggy anyway). I'm not really fond of Samsung phones and don't want to mess up with an other Sony xperia (the way they treated the owners of the SXS was bad customer relationship) and there was no Acer phone available... BTW, the fact I managed to get this one for 1$ is really the more obvious reason.
Edit : one more (may be) stupid question, but I can't find something like ''everything you need to know about HTC desire 816'' thread, does anything like this exist ?

Possible yes, I'll be more then glad to try bringing gpe to this device. But that's as soon as the Virgin Mobile variant gets a recovery that support aroma flawlessly... My team is already working on the device tree for the a5_chl ... So as soon as we are done I'll start cooking like I did for one mini. Just your other devs will need to port it from my varient.

Unlike AOSP , GPE can't brick a device because it uses a sense kernel. Plus GPE is usually bugless where AOSP roms tend to always have bugs. So I can see why some users would want gpe.
FYI I'll be getting my HTC from virgin mobile France, if there is a way I can help, tell me. I'm a complete noob for programming but I can try and give feed back and logcats
Édit: ok so I got my HTC desire, but ad my phone operator employees are complete assholes, they forgot to put a nano SIM in the package, so unless I cut my micro SIM by hands I won't be doing anything with the device soon. Anyway I'm reading a part here on xda about everything related to the phone, and as I told you before, if there is something I can do, just tell me.

[Q] Brand New M8 Developers Edition on the way: Lollipop or not?

I am reading so many posts with people in great pain after upgrading to L. Others seem to have no problems. I'm trying to decide if I should take the risk or wait until Sense 7 is released. Any input would be appreciated.
I have no intention to run a custom rom, I just purchased the Developers Edition for possible future options. I am planning to run 100% stock.
Prices are pretty good for the M8 from HTC and since the M9 has few changes, I thought the M8 was the way to go. For a brand new M8 I thought the L upgrade might work better.
Ultimately, is there any advantage to L at all? Notifications are all I recognize as being an improvement, which I could live without for the time being.
