as already stated, verizon.
If this does happen I'll be pleasantly surprised, but considering they've already pushed the official 4.3 update back a month, unless they skip that and go right for 4.4, then we won't get 4.4 in 90 days

They talk a lot. I'll believe it when I see it!

The real thing is source. We need the source. I would have finished with my kernel by now if we had source and I didn't have to port one over.

No worries, Newt will have us on Android 5 before 4.4 ever sees the light of day on Verizon

Jason Mackenzie, President of HTC America, just said on Twitter that the Verizon One will not be skipping 4.3 and go straight to 4.4. So yeah, it'll probably be delayed for us.

not that it matters but this one was up first. they can be merged or this one can be deleted. doesnt matter as long as the info gets out haha

Perhaps the reason 4.3 was delayed was that 4.4 was so close they wanted to focus on that version?
Yeah....I know it is a dream, but dreams are nice

FC02?

I was messing with some URL tests for the next RDF and I don't get a 404 on http://device.sprintpcs.com/Samsung/SPH-D710/FC02.rdf ??? Maybe nothing but with the amount of updates we have seen it makes me wonder if another is coming...

No, there are already ICS leaks (check development forum), and you have already been presented with the entirety of the knowledge of FC02. It's just a blank mock up page, so we know nothing about it. Well, nothing except the fact that the webmaster thinks there will be an FC02.

You won't find one for this phone right now. And if you do happen to find a release date it's going to be for the International version of the phone only since they will get the update before us. i LOVE reading page source and URL fiddling (on all sorts of websites), you can find lots of fun stuff if you know how to read it.
(example, and I know this is totally OT: one of my favorite artists, Jose Parla, makes it terribly hard to find "better resolution" versions of his images online, and I have been wanting them for ages. (If you are into graffiti at all, check him out!)
If you go to his site, heavy Flash embeds, slow as **** to load, and the images are tough to get at. www.joseparla.com
but with a little source viewing, a little URL fiddling, was able to find this: www.joseparla.com/parlaweb/node/111
now I have all of my fave paintings as a rotating desktop theme. wheee!)
Sorry, back OT we go....

Bad source information, from what's been discussed in other threads.
Have a look in the HTC Desire HD section and read the hubbub there.

I doubt we'll be affected since the Incredible S and the Chinese version of our phone already got ICS.
But this is Verizon, so I guess there is a ever so slight possibility of our phone not getting the update.

Read the update, HTC has cancel the update for Desire HD
* After extensive testing, we’ve determined that the current version of HTC Sense with Android provides customers with the best experience on the HTC Desire HD. When we consider new versions of software, we weigh a number of factors, but ultimately the customer experience on the product is the deciding factor. Ask Verizon Wireless why no JB update

I would like everyone who is interested in seeing an official build of Jellybean for the GNex sooner rather than later to ask them what the hold-up is on all of their social media. If we can pressure them nicely using a public forum, then we might see it before 2013. Just a thought.

Or maybe they aren't even testing a "OTA ROM" to even begin with. A company should have better communication to their customers with upcoming updates.
As a Verizon customer and been with them for years, I come to expect this.
and as a Nexus user, I don't care when Verizon releases it because there's plenty of custom ROMs for me.
I did say it would be probably September at the earliest before the Toro gets JB officially.

Also, all I want is the jellybean radios. Sure jellybean would be nice, but the toro is aosp now so no need to really worry about that.

international bases are always going to have issues on the verizon phones
So just a question, I came to XDA when I had the HTC EVO on Sprint and I remember the dev support for that phone was huge.
Do you think the One will reach the same level of dev support that the EVO did? Man I sure loved it, I had to go back to stock because I became like a crack flasher, I just couldn't get enough

Are there devs getting closer to root/unlock?

I don't want to sound impatient or anything because I'm not I love my htc one as is but am just curious if any devs are getting closer to a unlock or root without the s-off tool. I've seen that there is a large bounty right now so I feel there should be devs at least trying to figure out something but it seems like I'm not seeing much info. anywhere and am only seeing people using s-off cards and stuff and I can't send my phone off. Any ideas?

There are multiple posts scattered here and there that hint/speculate that an exploit has been found and the devs are waiting on 4.3.
If you don't want to wait then send your phone off for S-Off, but please don't rush the devs. The exploit will come when it comes.
Can we lock this yet?

Exactly why bounties are a horrible idea IMHO. Donating for people's efforts is one thing, but bounties are almost always counterproductive unless someone already has an exploit that they don't want to burn.
Its so funny after leaving iOS for my Gnex almost 2 years ago, I never thought I would be reading about "burning exploits" and "waiting for updates to release tools".
Oh well, the good thing about Android is, even "locked down" android is still amazing! The sexy hardware and looks of the phone take the sting out of waiting also haha

Why? Not "burning" exploits is a damn good idea. What happens when, lets say, the exploit was released now and then HTC took an extra week to patch it? Like getting insurance or warranty replacements? Too bad we wasted the exploit. Look what happened with the DNA and 2.04. It is literally the best idea to wait until the OTA comes out. This way, the majority of users get s-off and HTC will have a harder time patching it.

i remember picking the dna up in april and it immediatly took the update for 2.04 then it took the 2.06 one. only a couple months went by and they came out with moonshine on linux then a window's version came out. i returned my phone back to stock to get 4g back and then i used the window's way. it is great to wait for the ota like you said so many more android's can get unlocked or s-off!!! :good:

I think you misunderstood me. I was just making the comparison from iOS to carrier locked Android.
I completely understand why and how this is all done, but thanks for explaining to those that don't

Welcome to VZW asshattery, it's amazing how the AT&T and TMo owners don't have to deal with this nonsense

Of course, but at least there is a ready unlock solution, hopefully the devs will figure out the VZW obstacle soon
