I had the unrevoked and wireless tether on my phone, and I thought when I did the upgrade it would not mess with my root, but it did. I just want to know what is a easy way to root my EVO and get the free wireless tether after the OTC upgrade. Is there a root job like unreoked that just always you to root your phone just for tethering, or should I totally root my phone, and if so, how easy is it to do it.
there is something called simple root, its an app that will basically root your phone for you. Check it out in the dev section. Never tried it before so I can't comment on it.

Im having issue rooting my phone, for more that I try I'm not able to get root access
So I've been browsin the web, trying to decide if I should should root or not. There are many threads about it, but some contradict the other, and some don't seem like the correct answer, so I just wanted to get some clarification on the questions I had. I have the T-mobile G3
1) Does rooting remove the ability to get OTA updates? Or can you still update, but it'll remove root?
2) If I root my G3 and delete the T-mobile apps, will I not be able to un-root back to stock? Is that what freezing the apps is for?
3) How difficult is it to get back to stock?
4) If I un-root the phone, is it possible to root again?
5) Right now, is stump root the best/ easiest way to root the G3 (tmobile) ?
Thanks for the help

What is Rooting on Android and Why We Want to Root?
Most Android users are annoyed by these system default applications, which are not really being used but can not be deleted because, if so, the Android operating system will not run smoothly and may cause an interruption. Rooting is a process that allows users to access the main software code of the device's operating system and allows you to modify or change something based on what you want, and how you want the phone application to work for you. Safe to say that this is Android corresponding to Apple jailbreak. After rooted, you can no freely install apps that you think will enhance your mobile experience. After all, that is what we all wanted, to get the most of what we have.

None of these one click apps apks exes work to root g5. Due to locked bootloader.
