[Q] Donwgrading back to Sense 4+ - HTC One X

After experiencing sever battery drain and WiFi issues I need to go back to 4.1.1 and Sense 4+.
My phone is rooted but still on stock ROM (4.18.401.2 but with CWM recovery and SuperSU).
I know it was discussed here in the past but I have yet to find a definitive answer:
What's my best option for downgrading?
I haven't found a nandroid for my CID (HTC_102) - Can I flash an older official RUU over my stock ROM?
If so, do I need to return to stock recovery \ flash a different Hboot (I'm on Hboot 1.72) before flashing the RUU???
I don't care about losing Root - Just want my phone in working order again.
Thanks
Enahu

You can't downgrade an S-ON hox at least not with a ruu, what you can do in order to run sense 4 is to install a custom (stock like) rom that is based on the minimal software number 3.18.401.......any lower will not work because the touchpanel drivers are updated and touch won't work

^^ i also ask myself ..... why repeating me ?

Actually, I did manage to downgrade following this guide, the problem was that after booting the touchscreen didn't work, only the physical buttons. CID_032, HBoot 1.72.

So actually you didn't downgrade because it didn't work. That's why i said that downgrading doesn't work, including a minimal software number he should use (touch panel driver update issue)

Thanks for all the responses.
So, to get things straight, my best op is either flashing a 3.18.401.xx custom ROM or, if I can find one, restore a nandroid backup of 3.18.401.xx?

Yes 3.18, 3.19 or 3.20 they all work. Stock or custom

Installing 3.18, 3.19 or 3.20 (stock) is working on HBoot 1.72? If so, isn't it like a downgrade? I'm asking because I'm interested in downgrading too.

Yes that is downgrading but you can only do that with certain software numbers ! Like a 3.14 rom won't work because you cant get in the phone bcause touchscreen doesn't work.
Software from 3.17 and up have updated touch drivers so all of those will work.

That might have been the problem, since I've used 3.14 or earlier. Isn't 3.17 and up encrypted by HTC?

What do you mean ? You can restore nandroid backups with those version numbers i mentioned or flash a custom rom with those numbers !

Hboot version

I got my One X when they first came out, rooted it straight away and have been very happy. I'm running a JB AOKP ROM.
I've noticed a lot of talk about hboot versions, 1.23/1.28. My hboot is still 0.43. Am I missing anything? Does updating the hboot actually matter?
Thanks for any information

I have almost the same question : I would like to install the "Android Revolution HD 11.1" ROM and spent few days parsing the various post in the corresponding section of the forum.
The installation procedure states that to go to JB we need to have HBOOT v1.23. In addition it is indicated that :
{Do the following only if you have hboot version 0.43.
Download this ROM. You need to flash this RUU after you relock but before you flash firmware. Your hboot version will say 1.12}

Now my question :
My HOX indicates HBOOT v1.12 without any upgrade, do I need to upgrade it or not ?
Thanks in advance for your help

If you have 1.12, there is no need to upgrade to 1.12 before upgrading to 1.28.
To upgrade to 1.28, keep following the instructions.

Also, make sure you really do want to upgrade to 1.28 because without S-OFF you can't go back to an hboot with a lower version number.

I have been able to define my HBOOT version and my CID but this info...
Is there any thread summarizing hot to get all details about the HOX ?
Thanks again.
At the top of the bootloader it says either S-OFF or S-ON
why ?

So the hboot version only affects sense roms?
ifsow what does hboot represend ?
because i dont get why would it be good for sense roms but not for non sense roms on the same device.
they have to update or fix some things in those different version right ?
at the start of last year a fix whas published for the bad battery life.
The fix whas supposed to add 10 to 20 % to battery life.
just now i saw a post from somebody asking how to do this fix and they told him it whas fixed in version 1.28 / 1.29
it whas not clear to me if they where refering to hboot version but i think they did.
i'm pretty confused about this, could you help me clarrify a bit ?

I can no more install custom ROMs!

Hi Guys!
I had CM10 on my One X. Something like 1 month ago I updated my ROM through OTA updates, after that I had some casual reboots, but not so annoying...
2 days ago, I updated once again and after that, my phone was very very very instable!! Everytimes I tryed to open an app, it rebooted; so I wasn't able to do a backup through Titanium Backup, neither.
So i decided to try with the Australia MIUI one, and it didn't start...
I tryed Renovated, same end.
I tryed the stock one...it works...
I tryed Orio7...no success...what can i try?? (ofc i flashed the right boot.img each time before install rom...also i tryed to flash it after as well...)
Thanks
Try insert coin or ice cold jelly ( AOKP based) and flash the correct boot.img!

Reboot to the bootloader by holding volume down and the power button. It will say which hboot you have on there. Also, like enigmaticxeal said, make sure you flash the correct boot.img each time you flash a different rom.
yes,cm10 is based on jb,but doesn't need jb hboot
restart your phone and hold power+vol down for seconds and you will enter fastboot, there you can find your hboot version
I updated to stock jb Rom via ota as well and can no longet install any cm Rom. Flashed the correct boot and even tried with the modded boot for jb hboot and even tried repacking the modded one with the stock cm boot. Nothing I do is getting cm on there I'm on hboot 1.36.

so I think i have 0.43 possible???
that is why you cant install JB sense roms.
JB sense roms needs hboot 1.31 or higher.
You need to update your hboot depending upon your cid.. Then you will be able to flash any sense roms you want.
Do a lil search regarding the hboot and cid, You will get the idea.
yep yep...That sounds like I didn't search, but the truth is that I watched for my CID and phone said "HTC_405"...I though that means I got 1.39, but most probably that was a list of devices COMPATIBLE FOR UPGRADE TO 1.39...
sorry guys I think I can go ahead alone keep this 3ad open if I ll fall in a mistake

Try using this tool. It will do everything for you http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1924003

Your cid has nothing to do with the hboot, main software and hboots are related. Cid is more a region code .....
For example if your phone is on ics 4.04 2.17 based software your hboot should be 1.12
and the the 4.0.3 software corresponds with hboots 0.95 and/or 0.96
Hope this clears it up.
Basically you can not determine on which hboot the phone is with the cid number

Do a nandroid backup from recovery, then:
fastboot oem lock
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip recovery.zip
That should be enough, combined with a search, for you to figure it out.

[Q] It is possible to downgrade touchpanel TP of HTC One X?

Hi,
Do you think it is possible to downgrade TP?
I need verry bad to downgrade to 4.0.3 and becouse of the update to 3.18 I can't use that backup.
Or if you think if it posible to make some changes on 4.0.3 to work with the new TP?
I am not an expert on HTC file system and changes, but I can't find any solution.
Thanks in advance for any of your answers.
Did you try to restore the nandroid backup from 4.0.3 ? And the screen does not work ? I can't see the big picture here......
You can't run a lower ruu to downgrade the hboot version. We need s-off for that.
Can you be more specific ?

I did revert the nandroid backup and after that my touch didn't work. Not even to unlock the screen.
I found an tp.img file from an older ruu but I don't know if it will work to revert and how can it be done.
So I am searching for a solution to access that backup and didn't matter the version of HBOOT for me.
I know we don't have s-off

[Q] S-Off cm 11

Hello there,
I'm a flash junkie and recently updated my phone to CM11, coming from CM10.
In this process my phone went from S-Off to S-on. Is this always the case? And how can I fix it? Because I don't want to fastboot every time I flash a nightly. Thanks in advance!

It is imposible flashing ROM to make the device from S-OFF to S-ON. The rom don't have to do nothing with the HBOOT and can't change the security flag on ONE X international.

If he can, I will personally flash as many roms as needed to investigate this unexpected S-ON behaviour.

Sarcasm-ON, hilarious! LOL. How is it possible that on cm10 i could flash roms via cmupdater without flashing the boot.img? Now on cm11 my phone will not start up without the boot.img....
And did someone follow RumRummer tutorial for S-Off? Successfully?
Thanks in advance!
Because cm 11 is kitkat and cm 10 is not. Not all updates require a new boot.img.
If you go to a "new" rom you need to flash the boot.img. if a rom gets an update and it's purely a small software update it may not require a boot.img update.
Cm11 is completely different from cm10.
And rumrunner does not work.

True, if you want to flash custom 4.1 ROM, and if your hboot is not updated to 1.7x
If you want to return to stock, go visit nandroid collection thread. There is a solution for you.

Nope because a ruu can't downgrade s-on devices. Only a nandroid backup can be used. And even those have to fit all the right criteria otherwise the touchscreen won't work
