Hi all,
I'm looking for a 4.2.2 ROM (or 4.3) for dayly use, but I'm really confused about which I should choose among the ones provided in the forum.
To me these seem all great ROMs, but even if I know here on XDA we don't speak about "best" ROM, I'll be very glad if someone could suggest me what is the more stable for daily use.
I use my Desire for work and have really little time to flash every ROM to try it.
Many Thanks in advance

Well, none of them is "stable" if we take the true meaning of the word. But some of them are more stable than others. From experience, I found the following ROMs to last the longest without reboots (for me, it was max 3 days)

I used all of those ROMs for a couple of weeks, more or less...depends on how I liked them. Thing is I never had any random reboots with any of them. I did however have reboots with some of them when rotating the phone while loading up the camera.
And camera is probably the biggest issue with custom JB roms. If you use camera often, maybe you shouldn't switch, or at least get different camera app from Play Store.

Hello guys, i use this MIUI XJ rom, but seems it has a lot of crashes in applications & launcher it's very beautiful but it's pain in the ass that crashes me a lot of times i was wondering for some answer of Xperts that used or tested ROMS for HTC Desire!
Thanks in advance!

thanks for your professional answer, about posting once daily i always RTFM before i post and you can use the "SEARCH" also and u will find millions of posts about the ROMS or stuff like that
take care
The point being that I could tell you several ROM's I've used and even my current favourite but it's all subjective. What works for me may not work for you and similarly may not work for others. Read some of these daily posted queries and try to get some ideas for yourself and try them out. There is no one-size cap fits all on this matter as we all use our phones in different ways and have different needs.
The alternative is that we may aswell just make a list of every available ROM there is and then you can pick from that. Bear in mind however that most people on finding a good ROM with no issues won't return to post about it so the ROM that's least recommended may actually be the best one.
There is no 'best' ROM, there is only a best ROM that works for you and your needs. Sorry.
I have been using insertcoin ya its really nice haven't have to turn off my phone for a month!

Hi folks,
I've posted this request in another forum and was suggested MildWild 5.0 and then I went and installed Sandvold beta 18. It seemed fine and after a few hours of tweaking, had it set up exactly how I wanted it. Sent a text to someone, put the phone down and about 15 minutes later pick it up again and see it appeared to have formatted itself and was back on the very start screen when I first booted it to the phone with the "Tips" and everything! Also, the home button now doesn't do anything at all.
It looks cool and everything and has nice features, but I simply can't have a phone with such unpredictable behavior. Also installed it at the same time to my friends desire and he's having issues with it too.
I went to have a look at Mildwild 5.0 and the thread seems to have posters complaining of other problems too.
Is there any 4.0 ROM that is absolutely stable and simply just "works" with everything, gps, radio, no restarts or any unpredictable behavior.
I need the phone for business use so I'm not too pushed about having the absolute latest build, ICS is fine for example, I don't want JB if it's unstable. I just need a rom that works!
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
buy new phone with ics
on desire nikez rom is good, evriting except camera
Thanks for the reply I'd prefer no to buy a new phone, most of them are the larger screens nowadays and a desire is about as big as I want to have for work reasons (I do furniture removals so anything bigger would get in the way).
So it's really going to be about finding a proper ROM. Thanks for the suggestion of nikez, but I'd prefer to go with something where everything just works, no camera issues even, if possible.
Is CM9 available for the desire?

I just installed MildWild, it says it's Android version 2.3.7 in the "about phone". Is that gingerbread or froyo or honeycomb or ICS?
Mildwild 4.3, bugless and with the feature to decide where to put each app (internal or ext). If you want more space and no problem about app dimension I really suggest CM 7.2.0.1 stable themes xperia

Thank you! So you'd suggest Mildwild 4.3 over 5.0? What about CM7.2.0.1? Which do you think of the 3 would be best? Maybe I'll try Mildwild 5.0 and see if it works
Now I am on CM7.2.0.1 from nloooo. It is a rom out of the box, ready to install many apps and with a fast launcher. It also has cyanogenmod theme support.
So I suggest you to try this.
Try Elk's CM10 release. It's working pretty good for me. Data doesn't always turn on when I check the box, but I haven't flashed the latest version yet either.

Sorry that would be too much of a bug for me with data, which I rely heavily on for synching everything for business. Thanks for the suggestion. CM10, I guess that's Jellybean or ICS? Probably too unstable for desire?

2.x is Gingerbread
3.x is Honeycomb
4.0 is ICS
4.1 is Jelly Bean
I suggest to stick with 1 of the GB ROM's.
Is there any stability advantages of the nloooo version over the regular 7.2, or is it just it has the experia theme? Hard to understand all the different options. And what about the spazedog, that's ICS, right?
I think I should probably stick with the gingerbread, which MildWild is running, so I think I'll give MildWild a chance as I heard good things about it and hope it doesn't cause me pain!
ICS and stable/reliable don't mix together.
So I'd politely ask for drool party to stop. Op stated his requirements and 4.0 doesn't fit in if you walked on your eyebrows.

Thanks for the bluntness erklat, I guess I can forget about 4.0 and just concentrate on gingerbread. Hopefully I don't run into any bugs with mildwild, fingers crossed!
Later today I'll be trading my Galaxy Nexus for a One X. Of course the first thing I'll be doing is to dev unlock and get flashing.
I don't like Sense so ideally I'd like to use a CM10 based ROM or at least a de-sensed ROM. I would like something relatively stable. I've had a quick look at what's on offer here in the forums but unfortunately don't have time to read through all the replies to figure out just how stable the ROMs may be.
It would be extremely helpful if someone could recommend a ROM based on this information and maybe give me a brief outline of any bugs. Any information at all is helpful - it's a bit overwhelming coming to a new device as I'm sure many of you have experienced before.
Many thanks in advance.

I think best camera is in Tbaldens JB/CM10 ROM( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1786696 )...
But its still poor compared to the Sense camera...And if you used Onexed camera mod it is day and night difference, sadly but true.:/
I tryed al rooms and I can say renovate room 5.2.0 is the best, has the most feature included (camera mode, sound mode etc.) Also a excellent battery life combined with the faux kernal , after 2 hours and a half on standby ( checked 3-4 times the clock ) I still had 100% battery .and you can install without sense if you want .

I purchased one v last summer and my experience with the phone has been mostly frustration and grief. The original Sense ROM is sluggish and buggy, so I got rid of it as soon as I had rooted the phone. In fact I found it slower than my old Nexus One coupled with MIUI. It is shocking that two years old phone overperforms a relatively recent although budget handset .Anyhow, since rooting I've tried a bunch of different roms, but none of them are satisfactory. Sluggishness, showstopper bugs or ugly user interface. At this point I got tired of trying out different ROMs and reconfiguring the phone from scratch. I just want something that would work well enough.
I like MIUI a lot, but all the recent builds have been plagued by various bugs. As if each new build fixes some of the problems, while introducing a handful of new bugs. I am sure it will become better at some point, but I would like to have something decent now.
So my question goes, what ROM/Kernel combo do you find the most usable? Something that would just work and would not need to reinstall/tweak every week or so.
Cheers!

Believe me I try all and kernel Kiss thx to maxwen with myONEv RC0.5 FX ROM thx to ckpv5 running smooth and fast with no battery drain!!!
If you wanna have smooth camera or video recording features, stable, no-bugs & still can run faster, you can go for myONEv RC5.0 FX from ckpv5. But if you don't really need camera & video recording for your daily activity, then you can go for CM10 from Lloir.
And last but not least, you can also flash latest Titanium-KISS kernel from maxwen. :good:

for better gaming experience, i guess it's almost the same because it depends on your GPU.
Because of the controversy and arguments they inevitably generate, "best ROM" threads are prohibited on XDA. Thread closed.
I know that best roms threads are prohibited, however im just seeing which rom people have found to be the most stable. I keep getting random reboots in almost every JB rom ive used. Infact the most stable ive used is xsense.

Hope it helps...
I've been running Beyond's Evervolv-Quanto-3.2.0IONp1-primoc for the past 3.5 weeks, and have yet to have it reboot on me. It uses ION for memory management, so you won't be able to use the camera, but in my opinion it's well worth the tradeoff. Bluetooth handsfree calling also does not work, but I've yet to find a CDMA JellyBean ROM that it works on. Bluetooth media streaming works fine.
Right now I'm using extremesense stock and it's pretty stable so far. :silly:
