[Q] What is the best rom for HTC DESIRE? - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys, i use this MIUI XJ rom, but seems it has a lot of crashes in applications & launcher it's very beautiful but it's pain in the ass that crashes me a lot of times i was wondering for some answer of Xperts that used or tested ROMS for HTC Desire!
Thanks in advance!

thanks for your professional answer, about posting once daily i always RTFM before i post and you can use the "SEARCH" also and u will find millions of posts about the ROMS or stuff like that
take care

The point being that I could tell you several ROM's I've used and even my current favourite but it's all subjective. What works for me may not work for you and similarly may not work for others. Read some of these daily posted queries and try to get some ideas for yourself and try them out. There is no one-size cap fits all on this matter as we all use our phones in different ways and have different needs.
The alternative is that we may aswell just make a list of every available ROM there is and then you can pick from that. Bear in mind however that most people on finding a good ROM with no issues won't return to post about it so the ROM that's least recommended may actually be the best one.
There is no 'best' ROM, there is only a best ROM that works for you and your needs. Sorry.

I have been using insertcoin ya its really nice haven't have to turn off my phone for a month!

Good roms and kernels

Hi, I am currently a vibrant owner but I am getting sick of the GPS issues and the lack of support mainly a full source of 2.2 that runs good aside from just fast. Tmobile is sending me a G2 and I will have some time to see how I like it, I was looking for some input as far as roms and kernels go for if I decide to keep it.
I had a mytouch 3g before all this and loved the cyanogen and noticed there was a cyan rom for this and I would love to get some input on how it is, good or best or what have you. If you know of any better as far as functionality and speed go please toss me some idea so I can begin researching it.
There is a CyanogenMOD 6.1 (Android 2.2.1) ROM for the G2, They are actively working on CM7 (Android 2.3) and I would expect it to come out in the next month or so.
I'm still on the stock ROM because I'm waiting for CM7.
Expect the G2 to be similar to the G1 in terms of the amount and variety of roms. There appears to be quite a bit of support for this device.

Cyanogenmod and visionary have been the ones I've used and both are excellent. Cyanogenmod has been written about in how great it is, and visionary is a great sense rom if you care for that stuff.

Check out miui rom in android development! I'm currently using it! Its awesome. I went from stock to CM 6 then Virtious then MIUI. And I think for me Miui is the best rom, it incorporates so many things...and the new release is even more awesome.

Stock 2.3 with Sense 3.0 question

Hi guys, I'm really sorry to post this but I can't seem to find an answer on here already... And its probably a stupid question too.
Does anyone have a way of just updating to sense 3.0 without installing an entirely new ROM or is it deeply woven into it?
I used to install WM roms back in the day but I'm only just getting to grips with Android... Although I have to say its already put a massive smile on my face.
If installing a new 2.3 Rom with sense 3.0 is the only way forward could anyone recommend some good ones?, which have people found to be the most stable and with the least bugs?, I'm really looking for the closest thing to the Desire HD stock Rom that I can find.
Thanks guys.

I'm thinking about creating a stock only rooted + busy box and with speed tweaks ROM so devs dont have to root it all the time, will be up in next few days.

Come on dude, just search the forum. If you want the whole Sense 3.0 experience you must flash a new rom.
Or else you can flash some Sense 3.0 components from here.
PS. Wrong section. You should post in Q&A.

Sorry I thought I had posted it in the Q&A section, my bad.
Thanks for posting the link to Sense extras but I might have to go down the full ROM route, as for the ROM choices, I just thought I'd try and use the experience of some more knowledgeable users as to the closest ROM to the stock as I was UNABLE to find any definitive answers.
Thanks anyway.

Personally I found i00's sense 3 Rom to be more stable with less fc's.
You're posting a question in the development forum [bad practice btw]; do you expect us not to recommend you flash a full rom?
Most sense roms are now including parts of Sense 3.0 in their build.

yeah, Q&A would have been better
I use LeeDroid 3.0.3 as a base, it has an add-on what contains weather, lockscreen and message app, and you can use MDJ's camera add-on, and than you'll have most of the new stuff and a faaast, stable ROM

Am I to understand it then that many of the current ROM's with Sense 3.0 aren't full ports?, if that is right what things are likely to be missing?, I'm basically after the closest experience to the new HTC Sensation.

i00's 5.3 and RCMix3D Kingdom port are full ports, but not fully stable
try one of these and than what I suggested, and you'll see what the differences are

Best ROM you say?
I don't know if I'm the only one on topic, but anyways.
My favourite ROM for HTC Desire is MIUI, works great, great UI, nice battery life and everything is very intuitive.
Oh and something I love: Settings are divided in 3 tabs making everything so much easier to browse and modify.
Wow a new question ! :O
Such thing never been asked before

[Q] MildWildCM7 vs ICS (stability) | BCM ICS vs Sandvolds ICS?

Hey there,
I've been using MILDWILD CM7 (3.9 right now) for several months and i am very happy with its smoothness and stability. Nevertheless I'm interested in trying out one of the "true" ICS roms. Is there anyone who has experiences regarding smothness and stability. Are Sandvold's and dk_zero_cool ICS roms as good as MW (despite the camera errors)?
Furthermore I'd like to ask whats the difference between those real ICS roms?
Does sandvolds rom also deliver additional settings as the cm9 options in BCM ICS?
what about stability and smoothness?
Reading the last 5 to 10 pages of those rom thread would give you an idea.

The answers to your questions are already out there. Honestly, I'd rather be productive doing something else that will benefit me than to give you a full rundown of things that you can go figure out yourself anyway. I don't care if you find my answer useless but given the fact that this thread hasn't been productive in getting any other answers speaks for itself.
So yeah go ahead and call me a fool.

[Q] Looking for a simple, low resource ROM. Can't decide.

Hi,
today I got the idea of changing my current ROM to one that is 100% stable, runs very smooth and has a good battery life/low resource use.
I was thinking of a modified Froyo rom like Starburst. ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=916417 )
I'm not interested in any extra functionality besides phone-music player. I just need it to do those two things perfectly and to never choke, freeze. (for example my current ROM has frequent freezes of the music app during playback).
What do you think?
Thanks for your time
CyanogenMod7 or MildWild Oxygen, both small, smooth, stable, u wont have any problems. Ul find them both in Desire Android Development. If some1 recommends JB/ICS then just ignore them haha

I think I found CM7 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957344) and I know MildWild and I am using it now. I would like to change it. Overall it's smooth but the music player glitches are getting to me, since I use that several times a day.
CM7 seems incomplete by the looks of some comments. I would like something final.
That being said, thank you for suggesting those two.
You wont find anything more complete than CM7, lol.
Where did you found those "comments" ?
Redux. I think v 2 was the best. Development has long since stopped but it was the most stripped down, battery friendly when I had my desire.

MokeeOS was really fast and stable for me and gace good battery life. The developer has stopped updates but the current ROM works as good as can be.

Before i was using that, I was using MIUI-XJ which is nice but not that lightweight.
Currently I am trying out Jelly Bean but wi-fi doesn't work for me so I'll probably return to MokeeOS
