Best ROM you say?
I don't know if I'm the only one on topic, but anyways.
My favourite ROM for HTC Desire is MIUI, works great, great UI, nice battery life and everything is very intuitive.
Oh and something I love: Settings are divided in 3 tabs making everything so much easier to browse and modify.
Wow a new question ! :O
Such thing never been asked before
Lol!!!

CyanogenMod for me. Rock solid, loads of nice little tweaks and runs like a dream on my Desire.
Damn XDA getting hung...duplicate posts
I can always look forward to the Q/A for a laugh
The only one missing is Terepin..
OP: Simple answer: There's no best rom.
And this is why you were laughed at: http://www.google.co.in/search?hl=en&q=+site:forum.xda-developers.com+xda+best+desire+rom

For me it's best
Mine favorite was rock-stable, supersonic, unlimited memory, Starburst ROM (Froyo based) but recently I went for bells&whistles and reflashed Runnymede AIO...

thanks for your professional answer, about posting once daily i always RTFM before i post and you can use the "SEARCH" also and u will find millions of posts about the ROMS or stuff like that
take care
The point being that I could tell you several ROM's I've used and even my current favourite but it's all subjective. What works for me may not work for you and similarly may not work for others. Read some of these daily posted queries and try to get some ideas for yourself and try them out. There is no one-size cap fits all on this matter as we all use our phones in different ways and have different needs.
The alternative is that we may aswell just make a list of every available ROM there is and then you can pick from that. Bear in mind however that most people on finding a good ROM with no issues won't return to post about it so the ROM that's least recommended may actually be the best one.
There is no 'best' ROM, there is only a best ROM that works for you and your needs. Sorry.
I have been using insertcoin ya its really nice haven't have to turn off my phone for a month!

Hey there,
I've been using MILDWILD CM7 (3.9 right now) for several months and i am very happy with its smoothness and stability. Nevertheless I'm interested in trying out one of the "true" ICS roms. Is there anyone who has experiences regarding smothness and stability. Are Sandvold's and dk_zero_cool ICS roms as good as MW (despite the camera errors)?
Furthermore I'd like to ask whats the difference between those real ICS roms?
Does sandvolds rom also deliver additional settings as the cm9 options in BCM ICS?
what about stability and smoothness?
Reading the last 5 to 10 pages of those rom thread would give you an idea.

The answers to your questions are already out there. Honestly, I'd rather be productive doing something else that will benefit me than to give you a full rundown of things that you can go figure out yourself anyway. I don't care if you find my answer useless but given the fact that this thread hasn't been productive in getting any other answers speaks for itself.
So yeah go ahead and call me a fool.

Hello all, lets discuss your feelings, emotions, confusions:what:, predictions, fears, jubilation etc etc about the upcoming release of ics sense 4 for desire HERE, in THIS thread, and leave the dev threads for logcats, tweak scripts and bug fixes..... desire has a few devs left, try to keep them here.....
Regards
Fellow desire user.

Great idea ....
I never really got into Sense, as I quickly rooted my phone and went with a CM type of ROM - and now using BCM9 3.3.1
However, my wife like Sense on her Desire ... so I am keen to see v4, as this seems to have been stripped back a bit from the bloated GB version.
I originally chipped in towards Shaky's Desire so that he can get on with Dev'ing for it.
Hopefully it comes soon.

Deal. If this means this is the last of useless Sense 4/ics thread, fine by me.
But you violate the deal, I guess we normal who don't want our phones be partially stable have the right to pull the big guns out? Or keep them that way.

Your choice, everyones got the right of having opinion... I personally love miui and sense roms although they have always been a little laggy for me later on [gb ics both].... cm7, oxygen etc have been super fast, but they lack the special elegance, beauty, whatever you call it....sense n miui, they LOOK good.... sense has the elegance, miui too.....cm7 has millions feature tweaks themes, but always keeps missing something.. oxygen is too barebones, and I hate the stock apps on it, almost always replaced with apps from store....

Anyone know - informed guess or not - weather, with the inclusion of Sense framework this will mean 720p video recording will be possible/ported with this rom? If so, perfect!
what???
@bingley
no one KNOWS that....
you get what you get.... i doubt whether devs will put that much effort into stuff like 720p recording, or 2way call-rec**8 watever that is, etc etc....... Even if they make a fully functional port will be more then enough for most of us..... i doubt usb tether will be not there and vid cam might give trouble just like ics stock.. otherwise the same functions wud be possible....
I don't know about the general opinion, but for me 2 way call record is a dealbreaker.

Yes, I'm aware of that. I provided the reason for me not even considering ics, not to mention tons of bugs and lag.
There recently were some Chinese Desires released with specs similar to our desire what proved our desire can run ICS Sense 4 romantic smoothly. Sense 4 nice. Would like to try it on my phone.

Once I tried ICS is hard to go back... unless I'm putting stability above everything else, which I am.
But I'm patiently waiting till ICS sees stability and smoothness, then I might reconsider it
And I believe it can be such a smooth experience and fast, not much diference from GB roms, after all, desire has a pretty good specs.
I think I heard people say Sense 4 is less mem hungry than sense 3.6 anyway
Hi,
today I got the idea of changing my current ROM to one that is 100% stable, runs very smooth and has a good battery life/low resource use.
I was thinking of a modified Froyo rom like Starburst. ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=916417 )
I'm not interested in any extra functionality besides phone-music player. I just need it to do those two things perfectly and to never choke, freeze. (for example my current ROM has frequent freezes of the music app during playback).
What do you think?
Thanks for your time
CyanogenMod7 or MildWild Oxygen, both small, smooth, stable, u wont have any problems. Ul find them both in Desire Android Development. If some1 recommends JB/ICS then just ignore them haha

I think I found CM7 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957344) and I know MildWild and I am using it now. I would like to change it. Overall it's smooth but the music player glitches are getting to me, since I use that several times a day.
CM7 seems incomplete by the looks of some comments. I would like something final.
That being said, thank you for suggesting those two.
You wont find anything more complete than CM7, lol.
Where did you found those "comments" ?
Redux. I think v 2 was the best. Development has long since stopped but it was the most stripped down, battery friendly when I had my desire.

MokeeOS was really fast and stable for me and gace good battery life. The developer has stopped updates but the current ROM works as good as can be.
Thread:

Before i was using that, I was using MIUI-XJ which is nice but not that lightweight.
Currently I am trying out Jelly Bean but wi-fi doesn't work for me so I'll probably return to MokeeOS

The only possible result from the many open-ended "which is the best" threads like this is that several people name several ROMs that they personally enjoy. "Best" means different things to different people; for example, I personally don't use the camera much, but for some people a flawlessly working camera is a must-have. You might as well just try them out for yourself.

Yep, just like any other ROM. Download; Nandroid backup; app backup if you want (Titanium Backup or something similar); wipe /system, /data, and /cache; flash ROM.
for stock gingerbread "Android Revolution HD" smooth, fast, great battery life, zero bugs...
for ICS: "Sabsa Prime", "Trick Droid", "Blackout", "Sabsa Bliss".
Sense 3.6: I liked Pachas rom very much and used it for a long time. Even tough the touch response has some issues I was pretty amazed by its speed and smoothness. In general I'm quite fond of Sense 3.6 because it's a nice combination of the advantages its predecessor and successor hold.
Sense 4.0: After I've decided to get some Sense 4 into my everyday use, I must say that (attention, laaaame pun incoming) Trickdroid really does the trick for me. The rom's main functionalities work quite well (I started testing Trickdroid with v3, so no judgement on prior versions) and the tweak package is adequate to customize the small things in one's own taste. The only issue I've still got is that I don't how to access the newly integrated Fallout Tweaks (I checked and installed them in the aroma installer) to get seven instead of five homescreens.
For me, the both Sabsa (prime and bliss) are the best. Sabsa Bliss for sense 3.6 roms and Sabsa Prime for sense 4 roms.
