Most stable, reliable 4.0+ Desire ROM for everyday business use. - Desire General

Hi folks,
I've posted this request in another forum and was suggested MildWild 5.0 and then I went and installed Sandvold beta 18. It seemed fine and after a few hours of tweaking, had it set up exactly how I wanted it. Sent a text to someone, put the phone down and about 15 minutes later pick it up again and see it appeared to have formatted itself and was back on the very start screen when I first booted it to the phone with the "Tips" and everything! Also, the home button now doesn't do anything at all.
It looks cool and everything and has nice features, but I simply can't have a phone with such unpredictable behavior. Also installed it at the same time to my friends desire and he's having issues with it too.
I went to have a look at Mildwild 5.0 and the thread seems to have posters complaining of other problems too.
Is there any 4.0 ROM that is absolutely stable and simply just "works" with everything, gps, radio, no restarts or any unpredictable behavior.
I need the phone for business use so I'm not too pushed about having the absolute latest build, ICS is fine for example, I don't want JB if it's unstable. I just need a rom that works!
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

buy new phone with ics
on desire nikez rom is good, evriting except camera

Thanks for the reply I'd prefer no to buy a new phone, most of them are the larger screens nowadays and a desire is about as big as I want to have for work reasons (I do furniture removals so anything bigger would get in the way).
So it's really going to be about finding a proper ROM. Thanks for the suggestion of nikez, but I'd prefer to go with something where everything just works, no camera issues even, if possible.
Is CM9 available for the desire?

Thanks, I had a look at the spazedog thread and it seems to be JB now and seems to have a lot of things not working and a few warnings so I don't think that will suit either

Damn, that's a pity. So it's looking like there's virtually no stable roms out there at all? I still have to try Mildwild but from reading the forum it appears to have problems too

I just installed MildWild, it says it's Android version 2.3.7 in the "about phone". Is that gingerbread or froyo or honeycomb or ICS?

Mildwild 4.3, bugless and with the feature to decide where to put each app (internal or ext). If you want more space and no problem about app dimension I really suggest CM 7.2.0.1 stable themes xperia

Thank you! So you'd suggest Mildwild 4.3 over 5.0? What about CM7.2.0.1? Which do you think of the 3 would be best? Maybe I'll try Mildwild 5.0 and see if it works

Now I am on CM7.2.0.1 from nloooo. It is a rom out of the box, ready to install many apps and with a fast launcher. It also has cyanogenmod theme support.
So I suggest you to try this.

Try Elk's CM10 release. It's working pretty good for me. Data doesn't always turn on when I check the box, but I haven't flashed the latest version yet either.

Sorry that would be too much of a bug for me with data, which I rely heavily on for synching everything for business. Thanks for the suggestion. CM10, I guess that's Jellybean or ICS? Probably too unstable for desire?

2.x is Gingerbread
3.x is Honeycomb
4.0 is ICS
4.1 is Jelly Bean
I suggest to stick with 1 of the GB ROM's.

Is there any stability advantages of the nloooo version over the regular 7.2, or is it just it has the experia theme? Hard to understand all the different options. And what about the spazedog, that's ICS, right?
I think I should probably stick with the gingerbread, which MildWild is running, so I think I'll give MildWild a chance as I heard good things about it and hope it doesn't cause me pain!

ICS and stable/reliable don't mix together.
So I'd politely ask for drool party to stop. Op stated his requirements and 4.0 doesn't fit in if you walked on your eyebrows.

Thanks for the bluntness erklat, I guess I can forget about 4.0 and just concentrate on gingerbread. Hopefully I don't run into any bugs with mildwild, fingers crossed!

[Q] Help: Suggest best sense-less One X ROM?

Most of the roms seem to have retained Sense 4. And the Sense roms seem to be updated more frequently.
I like the new Sense but want to try something different. I'm coming from Android Revolution which I like very much.
Want a ROM with lots of improvements to optimize performance, smoothness and speed, based on the latest ICS version, with bone-stock APKs and no bloatware.
Suggestions? What are my best couple options even....?
I'd recommend LeDrOiD and Android Revolution HD, both are updated frequently. But since HTC have not released any new software lately, there isn't much for the developers to do.
Both ROM can have Sense removed, LeDrOiD is easier in this regard.
It seems kernel is currently the hot development area.
Edit, posted irreverent info.
Thanks! I was asking about ROMS not Launchers though.
Ideally I would like a sense-less ROM that came with the stock ICS launcher (even over Apex or Nova).

try JDROID rom then or check the rom thread and see if they give the sense-less option in aroma installer..most roms now do that anyway. or just use rom-cleaner no-sense version and it does the business for you anyway

Fair enough, and I don't disagree much. In Trips defense, he seems to have a rather large following singing his praises.
I only installed it for testing out GPS. I've gone back to ARHD with my own tweaks to trimming Sense.

[Q] Stable EverythingWorking ROM for daily use.

Hi there,
Since last December, I'm using last version of Oxygen, but during this time I have an issue with camera. Every time I'm started the camera an error "SDcard is unmounted" occurs. I had to unmount, mount again my sdcard and really fast switch to camera application, sometimes two or free times in order to take a photo.
Now I'm trying to find stable ROM for daily use, but I see that developers gone from desire device, only few ICS ROMS, and as I red there isn't enough stable ROM for daily use.
What do you recommend? It could be JB, ICS, GB, the first goal it have to be stable without any major issues and without Sense.
Is way to have a stable rom? I don't want to come back to stock.
Im using EUROSKANK CM 7 rom, no problems, all is working. For me this is best stable rom.

Thanks everyone for answers,
I'll reading about ROMs mentioned in your answers, for now Nick's Phone looks the best.
About my issue, I reinstalled Oxygen in January, with _total_ wipe: STOCK -> ROOT -> S-OFF -> Oxygen. Now I'll try to check my SDcard (it is 4Gb ADATA class 6, and is old like a phone) I will try to dd if=/dev/zero on this card, maybe this is card issue not rom.

I heard about it too. Only issue I found was that the development on it was stopped and so was apprehensive of the support.
Also the OP of the ROM says few users are facing freezing issues while an incoming call. I had this issue earlier too on the RSK teams ROM.
Anyway will give it a shot over the weekend.

I've had good experiences with Runny Rom too. I've used Runnymede AIO for a long time and also had those freezing issues you mention, but it's not only caused by the ROM itself directly. Most likely it's caused by the SD card. I've used 2 different 16GB class 6 cards (Samsung and Sandisk) and they both caused problems. I'm using a class 4 32gb sandisk now I didn't have any single freeze yet.
But, like said before, those sense 3.5 ROMs are quite heavy, probably the most heavy for your SD card. For stable and lagfree sense I wouldn't advise them. It might work, but can also cause a lot of problems.

Link to CCM 7.2 V 1.5 please

I was looking to flash over to CCM 7.2 v1.5, but I can't find any links for it. I searched around a bit and I'm not sure if I'm just being dumb or if it's listed under a different version name. Thanks, I will try flashing this tomorrow morning. Are you using the stock kernel? Also, I've read (and experienced) some of the CM versions having issues with the keyboard where random keys just will not be registered and you have to reopen the keyboard or reboot....is there any this happening?
Regardless I'll be trying it tomorrow, thanks.

Yes, stock kernel. You can use the .8 if you please. I plan on doing the same, I just haven't gotten around to flashing it because I get lazy.
I have no keyboard lag at all. Everything is as snappy as ever. I do miss the ICS features, but just having everything working and running at a blazing speed makes up for the missing things.
I'm sticking with this or another Gingerbread based rom until we get official ICS because I miss having a fully functioning phone.

I've been using UKB V for a few days now and love it. My only problem with it is that I find it annoying to end up on lockscreen when I select something from the notification bar, and that screen unlockers are glitchy in general. I've read that's an ICS issue though, so I'm not blaming the rom. Just mentioning it because it's the only thing I'm disliking about the rom. Trying to decide if it bothers me enough to go back to GB...

True, true, you're right: it's pre-alpha. And I was talking about Nikez JB P10.
As a 'normal user' of P10 I am very satisfied with this ROM and I do have some experience with other ROM's (not only Sandvold). Only a few things (thing?) does not work. Also, the forum-thread of Nikez JB P10 reads (almost) same opinions - if you filter the problems with installing 3d party scripts.
Even remarks as 'worht beta' can be read.
My suggestion is user-to-user (SeeZaar), from my point-of-view as a Desire-JB P10 user.

for stability and speed i would heartily recommend redux2-31.08-test which is a stripped gingerbread rom which i used exclusively for over a year. it has a wicked pull-down notification bar full of custom shortcuts. very stable despite the test title.
if you're looking for an ICS flavour i'd agree with earlier recommendations for spaze dog. i found it a bit more complicated to install successfully but once up & running it's been faultless.
hope that helps.

[Q] Looking for a simple, low resource ROM. Can't decide.

Hi,
today I got the idea of changing my current ROM to one that is 100% stable, runs very smooth and has a good battery life/low resource use.
I was thinking of a modified Froyo rom like Starburst. ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=916417 )
I'm not interested in any extra functionality besides phone-music player. I just need it to do those two things perfectly and to never choke, freeze. (for example my current ROM has frequent freezes of the music app during playback).
What do you think?
Thanks for your time

I think I found CM7 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957344) and I know MildWild and I am using it now. I would like to change it. Overall it's smooth but the music player glitches are getting to me, since I use that several times a day.

That being said, thank you for suggesting those two.
