I think V4 of anirudhks (AKA stock with G2 apps) is hands down, the best stock-based ROM for battery.
Ok, well, there aren't many stock-based ROMs period, but still.
This is my battery life from today with no charging, and about 2hrs Youtube (HD video).

Do you use custom kernels or only the ROM?
Sent from my LG-E988
Does the V4 work 100% with the E-980? I see that it's based on a 988 ROM, so I'm curious is there's some negatives to that.
Are there options to set transparency for status bar, etc. such as an Xposed module for the LG OG Pro?
When u flash a custom ROM if it has a kernel embedded in it to run the ROM then it is flashed automatically. All u have to do is follow the instructions carefully from the thread of the ROM u want to flash.

There are tranperency options and if u go through V4 thread then u ll find that some have tried the ROM on E980. All u have to do is flash ur baseband after flashing ROM. See through the V4 tread and read the opinions of people with E980.

I have the zerolemon 9300 mah battery for my lg optimus g pro e980 so I really don't need to worry about that. You and anyone else looking for much better battery life should look at it because it's only about $45 right now. But if you decide to stay with the stock battery, then I think that CarbonROM is the best aosp based rom and the Lg G2 rom (V4 is the newest version) have the best battery life from what I've used

I have the e980 variant of the lg optimus g pro and i've used V4. It works well without any bugs that I've come across, however, I only got hspa+ most in 4g areas. It could've just been a problem with what I did but I just had to tell you. If you try it out, let me know if you get 4G. Otherwise, i havent come across any problems. Oh and yes you can have a transparent status bar.
I'm on vanir latest nightly. The battery life is excellent but there is a small issue, phone idle uses up battery when device is in deep sleep. About 10% was lost in 6 hours with phone untouched(completely in idle state)
Can anyone post battery stats in cm10.2 M1 snapshot?

Latest Harmony Build of BeanStalk. Pretty good battery but it does seem to drain a little too quickly with the screen on. Maybe it is my imagination. I'm always looking for ways to improve upon it, any ideas?
This was a test I did with Vanir using only the performance governor since I only really did a little video watching on YouTube and mainly played KF2 via fpse (PSX emulator). I have to say that I'm rather impressed. I could easily go a full day with the phone running constantly at 1.7GHz if I didn't play emulators which are really CPU intensive and kick on all cores.

Figured I'd start this thread since I didn't see one. So far his has been running perfectly for me using stock kernel and whatnot. I do have one issue though. It seems as if speaker volume has decreased with this release. Anyone else experiencing this?

Had it flashed for a few hours now (haven't changed from the kernel it flashes with).
I don't notice any difference however I rarely even use the external speakers. I usually have it plugged into my car via aux cable for music. So I might be unable to make a good comparison of it since I rarely use it.
However these are the notable changes I've noticed:
- Less battery drain (literally same settings/apps used rom toolbox pro to backup/restore them, haven't added or removed anything)
- Camera opens every time now (previously crashed on CM9RC2 and prior versions)
- Faster power-off
- Faster ADB connection (this might just be my computer)
I'm not sure what's on the full changelog as I rarely look, but this one seems much more stable over CM9RC2 (obviously, since so many new changes were committed).
All-in-all, I have to say I'm happy with this version until we get our first stable release candidate of CM10. There's almost nothing to complain about.
Good good. I'm having an awesome experience with it including battery life. Indont listen to music through my speakers much either lol I mean ringtone and notification loudness. Definitely notice a difference in loudness with it.

Also I agree with you about the JB smoothness it isn't a placebo effect. But I can explain it. For some reason JB isn't as smooth as its supposed to be on this phone. If you grab a galaxy nexus with JB on it you'll know what I mean. I flash my home girls gnex with JB updates and I question why its smoother on that device. Maybe its because the gnex CPU and GPU are better than the t989. Not sure but its noticeably smoother. JB has got a ways to go on this phone.

Thanks for the tip. Going to try those settings out now. And I know what you mean. I'm sure our phone has the horsepower under it to make it as smooth as possible, but I guess our drivers aren't as optimized as they should be. Almost bought a GNex during their sale but ended up getting PC parts instead. Our phone will catch up one of these days. But I guess we have fragmentation and manufacturer bloat to blame for that.

As I noted in the main dev thread, it's not included, but instead can be downloaded from the Play Store. I can confirm it launches and doesn't force close, which they said it would if you're not on CM9.1, which is required to support it.
Wow, its like stable releases on a monthly basis, gotta love CM team.
Flashing this **** now
upgrading from CM9.0 to CM9.1 didn't work, keeps getting on "finalizing start up" after the upgrade and it stays there forever like 3 hours
tried all kind of things
end up having to simple do a full wipe, and flash CM9.1 clean, and restoring all the backups
now everything is fine, testing BLN to see if it hangs like on 9.0

I had serious battery problems on all CM9 and 10s (including nightlies) for our phone but 9.1 stable is running great on its first full day with TDJ's 6.2 CM9 kernel using badass governor:
Sorry, don't know how to make a thumb.
Only about 10 minutes of screen-on time--stuck in meetings most of the day--but still very impressive. Loving CM9 now that it isn't killing my battery.

I used to have this exact same issue. I love G2 Apps ROM, and think that stock ROMs are fantastic sleepers but under extreme usage they seem to fall short for me. I have flashed almost every ROM for our phone and have found that cm-11-20131130-UNOFFICIAL-e980.zip has given me the best battery life I have ever experienced. I have been getting 6 hours of screen on time (facebook, games, youtube, maps, calls, sms, browsing) over a 24 hour period. I have since flashed BS Harmony and it is looking to be very good also. If you don't believe me then try the exact CM file I listed. It is seriously the best under load and deep sleeping.

I love Paranoid Android. In PA3.99 RC2 (Android 4.3.1), there are a lot of feature and customization. In PA4.0-BETA (Android 4.4.2), there are a few extra feature but nothing relevant at the moment. Devs are working in recode features, but they say that want to reduce kanging. You can try CyanogenMod or AOKP (the last has a lot of customization) por any derive from that. You have to try them and then decide what you prefer.

I am currently on the CM-Remix rom 1/11 release and have been on it for a few days, so far I like a lot of the customization features. I would suggest reading what other users have experienced in the thread and determine which one you want to try. This has been the only 4.4 rom that I have used for more than a few hours. I am weird about customization so I tend to find one with lots of features and stick with it for a while. (trying to curb my flashing addiction.)

CM-Remix has a lot of cool features, probably would be my favorite but I can't get the wakelocks figured out even after reflashing etc. For me, slimkat is a second in features but most better in terms of wakelocks (for me). Translates into almost double the bat life for me

I'm running stock 4.3 with Franco kernel r392 (for bigmem as r394 doesn't have it) and its the smoothest combo you'll ever have.
I usually get 3 - 3 1/2 hours of SOT.
as for nightlys, I agree, they do suck and I hope the PA team gets a stable/milestone with HALO and all of that good stuff soon... like REAL soon.

They all are. Only Paranoid Android 4 is still in beta but that should be stable too. There is no best ROM or most stable one. It depends on your preference and phone (every Galaxy Nexus responds diffrently to certain settings/roms/kernels) so please stop these threads..

I understand very well that such questions may annoy people, but my question is actually more specific. I'm not looking for the best rom with the most features. I just want to upgrade to 4.4. But I'm afraid to do so, as I use my alarm a lot (to wake up for exams in time). If the phone randomly reboots and the alarm is gone for some reason that would be very silly. So I'm looking for a phone that has the smallest chance of such situation (alrm gone) happening.
So CM11 nightly has the smallest chance of that happening?
Thanks in advance.

From my own experience, CM11 doesn't have the smallest *chance* of that happening - because that NEVER happened to me at all. GNex is my part-time alarm clock and it always wakes me up at the right time. But yeah, because we install different apps and use different settings, YMMV

Re Best 4.4.2 Rom for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus
ParanoidAndroid 4 (BETA 3) is working fine on my Maguro. Because there are not so much options right now (because it's in beta), I'm using it with the Xposed module Gravitybox (KK). You could wait for the official PA 4 when it's out of beta, or give it a try: paranoidandroid.co.

Nice thread ... but don't just post pics, it's better if we tell something about our usage so we can compare, because we don't use phone on the same way. Something what is good for me isn't for you and reverse
which rom and kernel? brightness? wifi/2g/3g? apps? ...etc..
Underclocked with a minimum of 162mhz and max of 1.2ghz.

Nice thread, keep it alive.
Solid ruby kernel lastest (Not the last 0.1) WIfi on all the time, i never turn it off, only when there is no wifi.
Now its max 1ghz 4 cores on, and gpu down to 320, its very good in performances, try it yourself, and it has a great battery life.
ROM is v10a stock from Argentina.
Using instagram, facebook, twitter, whatsapp,
Dont use never gps, data, or any other function ( Auto sync) etc. in this graph.

Well, nothing special. on the notification bar. turn everything off except for the Eco mode. display brightness on 50 during day and naturally less at night (in-bed-browsing).
and you may not believe this one.
There is a battery thread already. Why new one?

I dont think its great. You should get at least 3 hours of sot in a 24h window. Something must have given you wakelocks. If you had a lot of phone call time would explain short sot, but your second highest battery drainer was phone idle.

You need to try them out for yourself and see which fits best for you... There are no best roms on xda
2SHAYNEZ
What he said. Try them all. All phones/people are different. Bountyman's ROM runs great for Shayne, yet I had terrible battery life with it. Also this needs to be deleted or moved to general.
Also....I need more beer.
Also......was john12345678911 taken?!

Don't try them all, go AOSP or Stock! They are basically the same on all g3 ROMs. Still a work in progress!
If I remember correctly we aren't supposed to discuss which ROM is the *best* ROM. Maybe a rephrase like which is your favorite or what do you suggest?
Shayne is right though, ROMs are 100% personal preference. Bountyman's G3 ROM worked awesome for me, but the battery life was abysmal. It's all about your own experience.
