You Nexus One owners must be feeling the Google love with all of these OTA updates headed your way lately. After the official upgrade to Android 2.2 was released for all Nexus One owners the other day, Google’s not ready to let that upload button rest. According to several of our excited readers, another OTA update is being pushed out today.

Are there any estimates as to when 4.3 will be released?

Anyone have any ideas/rumors as to when AOSP v4.3 will be released?

My guess is the middle or end of July and key lime pie by October since that's when the Moto X might be released and Google wants to have Motorola flagship phone on the newest version of android.Im thinking they wont release a new nexus device this year and the Moto X will be there nexus for this year with stock android and a few good customizations such as their 3 ring clock widget, quick setting, smart actions etc. from Razr HD line of phones.

We all thought they wouldn't release a nexus device last year, but then they hit the nexus 4 to the market. I really don't know any more. They have become less predictable. Which I really don't mind. I kind of enjoy the guessing game. I think I can surely say key lime pie (4.3 possibly) will be released this year.

yea i totally agree with you but it would be no point of a nexus device this year since they already got the nexus 4,Galaxy s4 google edition, htc one google edition and the sony xperia z google edition maybe... since that's still a rumor.
4.3 isn't KLP.

This.
Also, I believe 4.3 will drop sometime this fall, around Oct. or Nov., because that's when the next Nexus is rumored to be released.
And apparently, it is likely going to be made by LG again and not Motorola as suggested above.
I'm just waiting to be able to run an AOSP ROM with Bluetooth AVRCP. So I guess as soon as they release the source ...
thanks for all the feedback.
I wonder what new features Google could possibly pack into 4.3? I think 4.3 will be a minor update, then KLP will hit us hard!!
Google need to slow it down so everyone can catch up to the latest Android operating system. To many updates and os versions make it hard for developers. One or two updates is good enough google keep going and going.

Why didn't the single-SIM get updated to 4.2.2

I've been reading this forum lately and I noticed that C2004/5 users got updated to 4.2.2 but I am still at 4.1.2. I suppose it is compatible with my C1905 and if so why didn't Sony push the update? Also is it worth flashing it or should I wait for CM portç

Perhaps because Sony will be releasing 4.3 so they just stopped working on 4.2.2?

While KitKat will be released in a month or two?
From what I've read yes the M will get kitkat but wont be till mid/late 2014
Sent from my C2005 using xda premium
Kitkat is miles away as far as our phone is concerned and there's been no official announcement as of yet.. The one you are referring to in Q1 in 2014 is an android 4.3 update for Xperia M.. I doubt if Sony will release an official 4.2.2 for single sim.. There were talks afloat that it'll directly upgrade to 4.3
Sent from my C2005 using xda app-developers app
If you have a Nexus, sure, you get any new Android versions the day it is released itself. But on the other hand, if you have devices from Samsung or other Original Equipment Manufacturers, then they will first have to skin that particular Android version before they release it for your device.
Skinning is often a tedious job, and making things creative in the new Android version will take some time. This is why we are getting 4.3 Jelly Bean in the first quarter of the coming year for M.
Since KitKat has done away with fragmentation, it has the potential to even run on older devices (devices released after mid to late 2012). The Xperia M is sure to get a KitKat update, but that will be a long time in coming. It's pretty obvious that we will get CyanogenMod or its derivatives or AOSP and its derivatives long before the official one.
Ok thanks guys. Wish I could give you a thanks but the app won't let me

I don't think that they are gonna update the Xperia S anymore. It's a shame as it's a good device, I hope they don't do the same and abandon my Z1 after 18 months like they did with this device. Hopefully tho they might update this but it's very unlikely

Abandon? You expecting lifetime of updates? They didn't abandon Xperia S. The current firmware is fine.

Why must there be? There are unofficial versions, just use those. Are you expecting Sony to keep every single phone they ever released up to date? There must be hundreds by now (okay that was a hyperbole, 48 according to Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony_Xperia), noone can keep up with that. If you must blame anyone or anything for the short while that phones are getting updates, blame Android because it's so hard to install on hardware (compared to more classic PC OS's like Windows and Ubuntu/Pick-Your-Favorite-Linux-Distro). Not even the Galaxy Nexus got an update to Android 4.4, and if there was one Nexus that was most like our Fuji-phones it was that one. So if our generation's Nexus isn't even getting any updates anymore, how do you expect a non-Nexus device to get that update.
Seriously, I don't like this either, so ever since KitKat I haven't run a stock ROM. Now you've learned that if stock updates are important to you, you should get a Nexus or a Google Play Edition device. Sony has been known not to be very good in providing long term updates ever since the Xperia X10 (their very first Android phone). And if you can't afford to get a new phone every 2 years (because that's how long it'll be relevant), you should stop being so sensitive about updates and be happy with what you have.

Best not buy a HTC, support isn't great there either. The One X(L) isn't going beyond Android 4.2. If this is important to you, there's only q Nexus, a Google Play Edition phone or maybe a Motorola Moto X but we still have to see how long Motorola is going to support phones now they're part of Google.
And indeed we wouldn't be much without Rayman or bilchen. But it's like this for the vast majority of Android devices.

I tried several KK-based roms for xperia S, but all gave me random reboots
had some on 4.3, but with 4.4 I have too many to be stable as dayly driver.
i guess they all use the same kernel (open semc), that could explain why the all have it?
but... why do some people claim to have no reboots, and others have em 'all the time'?
i'm now on nature rom (4.1) and no problems at all, it's a great rom, but i really like 4.4 as well.
will there be a stable kernel/version soon?

First of all, the XS it's not just another phone sony launched, its a flagship device that only got two major updates (one actually cause ics should have been out of the box) so I at least expected 4.2 or 4. 3, even Galaxy s2 got them
second, the galaxy nexus didn't get 4.4 because of Texas instruments (supposedly) and as long as other oems continue to update it means it's possible and we have every right to complain about it

You're absolutely correct that Galaxy Nexus lack of KitKat is due to Texas Instruments. Similar, Xperia S ain't getting 4.2 and above due to Qualcomm, not Sony.

[Q] When will we see 4.4.4?

So I believe the latest official stock ROM/firmware for any of the Galaxy Tab PROs is still 4.4.2. Correct me if I'm wrong.
When will we see 4.4.4 or 4.4.3? I always thought Samsung was relatively speedy with their updates, but I read that even the LG G Pad 8.3 is about to get 4.4.4 or something. Where's our firmware update!!

Uh, I think it'll be a while before we see Android L. (Android 5.0)
Also, it's a VERY major update. Samsung will take at least 6-8 months to figure out how to customize TouchWiz/MagazineUX for Android 5.0
In the meanwhile, we still need further support for our KitKat GTP's.
There's lots of outstanding bugs/issues that they can fix to improve our experience NOW, not in 8 months time.
In 8 months time I might not be using this tablet anymore, lol.
Everything what you stated are all true, but I rarely see any tablets that go through all updates. Most I see are major android updates + manufacturers' stability updates.
It would be nice to see our tablet software is up to date but with Samsung releasing 3 or so tablets per month, most likely their focus is on running their overlay more stable rather androids minor updates.
I wish we live on a perfect world but what's fun in that haha..
