stock calendar and mail apps - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Tmobile samsung galaxy S III, Model: SGH-T999L, Build Number: JZO54K. T999LUVAMB7
rooted, still with stock rom.
When trying to delete some bloat ware, the stock calendar and mail app got deleted as well. I tried install them back, but failed.
Here are steps I did:
unzip stock ROM and get below files from /system/app:
SecCalendar_NAmerica.apk
SecCalendar_NAmerica.odex
SecExchange.apk
SecExchange.odex
SecEmail.apk
SecEmail.odex
using es explorer to set /system to RW, copy the above files to /system/app, change permission to rw-r--r-- for all of them
set /system back to RO
reboot
the calendar and mail app didn't come back, not in the app drawer.
tried to go to /system/app and click related apk to install, it shows: "application not installed".
could anyone point me what is missing? thanks.

Already rebooted couple times.not sure if there is compatibility issues?

As long as you pulled them from the same Rom/build version it should be fine. You could always reflash your Rom or firmware and start again.

As the good Doctor said, Reflash your Rom. Since its the same rom, I don't think you will loose any data. The bloat might come back.
I think you possibly deleted other related Apks sich as GMS or Google Core. Or may be those apks you tried are from different version. If you want to De-bloat, try one of the guides like this one.

Flashing the same will restore everything to the roms original state and won't wipe anything.
Not sure if it's the same as Perseus' link, but Aerowinder has a debloater in his signature a few post a back.

I *think* the problem might be I am not using the correct apk...
I used root66 way odin flashed MB7system.tar.md5 to root the phone, didn't flash any other ROMs.
When I tried to get those 6 apk, I was not able to get those from MB7system.tar.md5(unzip it to .ext4 file and don't know what to do with it).
So I got those files from T999L_UVAMB7_PureStockRooted.zip. Could this be the problem?
DocHoliday77, how can I get those 6 files from MB7system.tar.md5? I'd try this first before I reflash it again.
regarding reflash, in my case, do I just odin MB7system.tar.md5 again? and my own app/data will stay?
thanks

If you are on Linux you can Untar that file. If on Windows you should be able to open the tar with Winzip. Either way Re-Flashing Tar should not delete your data.

With the firmware it's not quite so simple as extracting it. (Youd need to install the kitchen and use it to extract everything from the .img.ext4 file. This has already been done though and is what the pure stock Rom was built from)
If you pull it from the pure stock Rom, make sure you are also getting the corresponding .odex files.
If you already are, then you need to flash either CWM or TWRP recovery and wipe dalvik cache and cache.
Or you can factory reset
Or you can reflash the firmware on top of what you have now. No wipe required.
All of these things should be relatively easy to do. If you've already got the root66 firmware, then easiest would be to just reflash it.
Putting the correct files back in /system/app should work, but if not, that's probably your best option.

Flash stock ROM, use Titanium Backup to backup all System apps and restore them in your custom ROM. Titanium Backup is your answer.
well,i've use TB..
but i dunno what the name of aplication to be restored
I might be wrong but I think you can't backup odexed system apps with TB. It just never restores. o-o
Wait uploading.

You Are Correct Silvane, Only way to reinstall app is to push it via adb, or flash it, or include it in the zip file of the custom rom you will be using
Pushing them to system with root explorer apps work though.

How to Re-Install Stock System Apps

I accidentally erased my stock calendar (running Stock FD26 ROM). When I try to re-install the calendar apk (TW and not the Stock ICS calendar that can be found on CM9/AOKP), it will not work.
Many people on xda and other forums have said to copy the apk via root explorer to system/app, check all permissions then reboot.
I copied and pasted the apk to system/app, checked all permissions, and reboot. Nothing happens. This also happened with the voice recording app. Can anyone give me some advice?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
I am sure someone can help you but personally to be quick about it shouldnt Odining over a stock build replace all the system apps? Certainly would undo other things you have done. Sfhub one click odin the same version use the no data one.
So i disabled it when I was on FC24. I used sfhubs no data wipe to get FD26. I guess I could try again.

Whenever you flash the FD26 OneClick, it will reinstall all the apps that came with FD26. If you flash the NoData, it'll keep your existing data partition.
Therefore, if you flash the NoData version, the calendar apk should be put back in place.

[MOD]Exchange Secuirty Removal (Stock Email Apk) JB & ICS

I've come across several posts/apks/scripts/tweaks to remove the stock email exchange security so I decided to share what I built and used. The email apk that is included in this flashable zip was not created by me (not sure who the developer is so I apologize). This is a simple and quick flashable zip file. I have tested it on my Galaxy S III running both Stock TW JB and AOKP JB (Tasks ROM).
This flash "should" work on both ICS and JB. I've tested this on JB but I've used it previously on ICS. If you have any issues using it on ICS please let me know and I'll update this thread.
Install Insturctions:
STEP 0: Make a nandroid backup or backup your pHere however you see fit.
1. Download the zip File for STOCK TW HERE or AOKP HERE
2. Flash the zip using clockwork recovery
3. WIPE CACHE PARTITION & DALVIK CACHE
4. Reboot Phone and re-setup your exchange account
The apk's in these zip files are technically the same 2 files but named differently to account for whatever rom you're using.
**As always, Flash at your own risk, I am not responsible if anything happens to your phone, but I will feel bad :crying:
SInce this flashable zip replaces your stock email app with a modified apk I'll upload all the stock apk's so you can always revert back easily. If you're not sure what your stock email apk's are just navigate to your system/app folder and find the names of your email.apk and exchange.apk.
AOKP Original Email APK's - Email.apk & Exchange2.apk
Stock TW Email APK's - SecEmail.apk and SecExchange.apk
Other APK Possibility - Email.apk and Exchange.apk
On a side note, I'll be starting an APK Repository shortly just as I did for the Galaxy S II. That thread helped a lot of members on XDA so I'll bring that to the GS3 users as well.
Reserved for future use...
Thanks
Hmm seems like not that many people experienced this problem. But i need to install the email and exchange apk because the costume TouchWiz Jelly Bean rom that i was trying does not contain the email apk file originally (its kinda silly for not contain it by default...) so i need to use the apk files from my old AOKP rom. When i was setting up my exchange email, that security thingy kept popping out, sooooo annoying!!!!! Then i kept looking for a solution to solve it, and here comes the zip file. Flash it immediately, and problem solved!!!!!
Really thank you for this!!!

Make a backup with titanium backup of both your email and exchange apps. After you back them up, delete them both. Flash either of the email updates, wipe cache and dalvik cache and reboot. You should be fine using either. Worst case scenario, you delete the email APKs you flashed and restore your original ones.

I followed the steps, everything installed correctly I assume because my email app was back after I deleted it. However, exchange still asked me to accept the security steps. Is it supposed to still ask you (and just not allow it to actually make remote changes)?

I was able to delete the 2 apks from \system\app. Where are the 2 odex files? What are they named?
BTW - I'm getting the "Unfortunately, Email has stopped" and "Unfortunately, Exchange service has stopped" messages after removing said 2 files and re-flashing this zip. I'm running Devil's Reject ROM.
New Info: I just looked it up and apparently the odex files are in /data/dalvik-cache. Unfortunately, my /data/dalvik-cache is empty. Hmmmm. I must be doing something wrong. Or perhaps these apks won't run on Devil's Reject v3. Any suggestions?

Your phone has to be rooted and you need to have any root explorer installed.
1. I'd suggest to back up SystemUI.apk and SystemUI.odex from the folder /system/app and to think about a recovery plan if something goes wrong.
2. Copy my SystemUI.apk into the folder /system and change its permissions to rw-r--r-- (644).
3. Delete SystemUI.odex from /system/app and move SystemUI.apk file from the folder /system to the folder /system/app with a replacement of the existing file.
4. After a successful replacement you will probably get some errors, all you need is to restart the device.
PS if you don't know or understand anything from the above firstly read about it then act or otherwise you can damage your smartphone.
I'm not responsible if anything goes wrong.
That all makes sense, only thing I don't know how to do is change permissions for the apk. How do I do that?
EDIT: using both es explorer or androzip i'm unable to move the file to the system folder. I have no idea how to get it there. Should I try a different file explorer?

To change the permissions you need to go to the file properties. After that just cut-paste it into the app folder. Es file explorer always works for me . However it had a strange behaviour when I tried to use 'copy to' or 'move to', so just cut-paste.
Finally got this going thanks to your patience! I had to leave the permissions to rwe and only copy/paste would work for some reason. Had to reset my wallpaper and turn data back on after reboot.
Otherwise all good, thanks!

You already have it, it's inside the Wicked rom zip file you downloaded and flashed.
Open the Wicked rom zip file which you flashed and open the SYSTEM folder.
(if you don't have the zip file just re-download the wicked v9.1 rom)
Inside that folder there is a folder called APP, open that folder and scroll down until you see
"SecPhone.apk" copy/extract that file to you desktop and then push or copy it to your phones
internal/external sdcard or if you PUSH the file, push it to /system/app .
You will need a root capable file manager like root explorer to do the above.
Be sure to reboot the phone after you are finished doing the above.
Once that's done you will have the same phone (contacts/dialer screens) as you had when you
first flashed the rom.
Just in case you have an issue with it or its not working right be
sure to use the fix permissions options in cwm or twrp recovery.
The reason the blacked out phone did not work for you and caused all the issues
you are having with it is because its not compatible with the phone and or the rom.
Good luck!

You might need to do a full wipe and flash ROM again if pushing SecContacts doesn't solved it.
