Hi, I want to go back to stock but would like to retain S-Off and root, what are the best options now days? Every rom I've looked at in the last few months are so customized.. Thanks guys
"Best" is in the eye of the beholder. Users are expected to do research and read the development threads to determine which Roms fit their needs.

Seriously, "S-Off"? Are you mistaking this with an HTC phone? If you look in the development section, there are several stock rooted ROMS over there. The key word here is "stock" AND rooted.

I have a rooted HTC desire, running on froyo 2.2, with custom rom, I used Unrevoked 3, I also unlocked my phone. I thought after doing all this I would get all of the Orange bloatwear off, this is very frustrating can any one help, or am I being a trifle dense?
You need a custom ROM based on either stock Sense or AOSP, there are plenty about so go take a look in the Development forum
Your poll makes no sense, btw

Hello folx..
Im using Desire HD for a while and wanted to ask you:
What is the diffrence between stock rom and custom roms ? What do i get if i put custom rom on my desire hd ? I have to root it i know that. But is it worth to put custom rom?
Thanks alot in advance for responses..
as i can see in your signature, why have you modde your HD2? the same reason to not be controlled by anyone to what you do with something that you own, to be free of bloatware that the companys want sell you. that is why i keep mine as plain as possible.

Yes, i modded my HD2, because it has Wm stock on it, and i wanted android.. But i still cant see right bemefits of custom android roms for DHD.. Maybe im not reading much...
Briefly - Most custom ROMs are better optimized for speed, smoothness, battery life, user customization, extra settings etc. Not only that but most bugs are fixed before HTC would ever get round to it.
Do it, you wont look back
But , if i root my phone, i loose warranty ? Is there any chance i could "unroot" my phone ( revert to process of rooting, so i can keep my warranty for any case..) ?
If it's anything like the Hero (which I'm sure it is), then flashing an official HTC RUU ROM will remove root.
Best to check in the DHD development section though, there's a FAQ there
EDIT: As always, it's best to do as much of your own research and reading as you can before trying anything new, but here's a link to a thread about removing root etc: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9985360#post9985360
hello, i have htc desire and i want to upgrade my android from 2.2 to 2.3, i downloaded from htc website the update but i don't succesed, if any could to help me it will be great...thenk for the help
You don't want to upgrade. You would be MUCH better off rooting, S-OFF and flashing a custom ROM.
Yup. agree going with rooting than the GB rom
Say it's for developer use anyway
Custom ROMs much better suited for normal use.
There's plenty to choose from
Desire has the index that list all the ROMs available
Check the Development page
but i want to,Because of the security breaches that to version 2.2 have n 2.3 don't so if you know please tell me i have to know...

2.3.3 has his fair share of security issues too, so if it is the only reason, don't bother upgrading.

Unless you're an FBI agent holding top secret **** on your phone you don't need to be so paranoid. If you lose your phone or it gets stolen the most likely ending for it is being wiped and sold, petty criminals don't have time to try to decrypt your personal data and try to find (the very limited) information about you that can be available on your phone, unless you quite literally keep everything about you on it.
newbie here to all this..
last week I finally rooted my DHD to turn s-on to s-off and after days of reading post after post I finally got it done, anyway whilst doing this it has now downgraded my phone software to an older version. 2.3.3 sense 2.1
can someone point me in the right direction to where I can download the stock updated rom for this phone or is there a custom rom that's even better than the stock one that I could use.? ive been looking in the Android Development section but there's way too many to go through & I don't want anything to fancy just stock HTC looking will do just great.. plus I don't want to run the risk of bricking the phone as im very new to this sort of thing so can do without trying different roms out as I was happy with the HTC look of the phone... and is it easy to upgrade as its taken me near on a week of reading to find the b*lls to root it.. LOL
thanks for any help..

Best thing if you want Stock ROM is Android Revolution HD, BEST stock based ROM (Sense 3.0, 2.3.5 Gingerbread)
Although you might like to experiment with other Android versions, like AOSP (exactly as Google intended it), AOKP (slightly modified), CyanogenMod (Different thing altogether) or even MIUI (if you like the iPhone's simplicity)
Hello! This is my first post on this site, and I will probably stay here for longer. Maybe this has been asked a load of times or it's in the wrong section, but if so, I'm sorry about that. I've got a few questions.
1. Is it worth trashing the warranty? I heard that you can flash the stock ROM so nobody will know you fiddled with the tablet, but I'm not sure about that.
2. How exactly can I root? There are guides around the Internet, but I thought asking here is the best solution.
3. Where to get the stock ROM?
Thanks for answering my questions.

Hi
So many people have rooted their tablets trashing the warranty, so it is a personal choice. But actually rooting has many advantages like multiwindow function, using Titanium backup, debloating many useless applications, etc..
Regarding how to root your device here is a detailed guide for p-601 (3G+wifi version):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2671102
Regarding how to get a stock rom for your tablet, the best site is sammobile
www.sammobile.com
search inside it for the model of your tablet: p-600, p-601, or p-605 then choose the best rom for your tablet.
Also you can find custom pre-rooted rom here:
