Hi, I flashed PA on my Nexus 7 2013, and great so far. However, since doing so, every time I get a notification, the screen will always turn on and display the lockscreen. It's not specific to one app, son it must be at a system level. Gone through all the settings but haven't found and options to change that. Am I being blind?
If anyone can help, it would be much appreciated.

Are you using a custom kernel? As far as I know, there is no such option/functionality in PA.
The Messaging app (which shouldn't be present on a tablet) has this as an app option, but there is no such system wide option.

Seems like I'm running stock kernel. Ran through Trickster mod just to check there wasn't a setting I'd accidentally enabled. Nothing there, this is quite mysterious.

Juggernaut, the ROM has it as a setting. As far as I know that's the only ROM you can do that with.
in the STOCK Tmo ROM it's listed as
Stay awake
Screen will never sleep while charging
on/off feature
in Settings > Applications > Development
i know... the most non related area to put that feature in
they should have put it in Display or something obvious

That's where it is in most other phones/ROMs, but it is NOT in the stock tmo ROM. Unfortunately.

my bad i guess that's from the Juggernaut ROM then
yeah, i'm so used to seeing it there in CM and stock AOS ROMs
Can a Dev confirm if the stock ROM has the capability for this option, by adding a line in like build.prop or something?

I hate to bump, but is there seriously no ROM chef here that knows how to enable this on stock roms?

Try the app "StayAwake". The app lets you toggle to stay awake while plugged into a AC/USB.
Just be careful... AMOLED will burn in.

This option is enabled in our rom Juggernaut which is based on the stock TMO rom. So the answer is obviously yes to all of the above lol.
on my phone at least, this option is reset every time i reboot. it did it with the android tweak app before and after i rooted and it has done that with the juggernaut rom with every release they have put out.
Couldn't find anything in the Nexus forum about this.
Since this afternoon i'm getting a red flashing rectangle around the border of the screen when opening or closing apps. Doesnt mather wich app or in what rotate state. It's very irregular to get a pattern or pin down a problem. I have checked al settings to see if there is anything i might have set up by accident....
Also rebooting etc. doesn't help.
Please help anybody !!
Sounds like one of the developer options; show screen updates or show all anr's perhaps

Nope, i have looked at the developer settings, all options unchecked, nothing set there. (except the usb debug standard option, and no, turning that off doesn't help either)
Possibly hardware problem?
Got the phone about 4 days now and haven't had any problems. So far this is a great phone . I haven't had any problems with hardware

This is a setting in engineering builds of ICS. If you have the first version of eagles blood running, it does this. It is a simple change to the build.prop to fix it, though I am not sure what the fix is exactly

Is such a fix possible on original non rooted stock rom ?
And then to have the actual fix would be nice.
Mine was doing this until I flashed 4.02. Only randomly started when I was on 4.01.

Try checking then unchecking the developer settings mentioned. I'm not covinced it will change anything, but it won't do any harm to try...
i think this is what "strict mode" in the developer settings does, try checking then unckecking that one...

I have these weird screen artifacts (shown in the attached image).
I did not have these problems when I was on stock, and they happened when I flashed both cyanogenmod 10 and AOKP (wiping data, and doing a factory reset for both).
Is there a fix for this?

I have aokp and also have this issue at random times. I just assumed it was normal. I guess not.

Yeah. Is there anyway around it? Like changing the font doesn't help. The obvious fix is stock restores and different roms but that didn't help. Already for me warranty is out off the again since I swapped my housing to a different color. It's gotta be just a bug right in the way Android handles font rendering?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
im guessing no one has found a fix to this?
I have this problem as well, with an AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3. I was running stock for a while and recently wiped and installed CM 10.1 stable; it didn't help this problem. I've tried different fonts, font sizes, all that. It's definitely not consistent. I even noticed this recently while using the stock CM clock app: there were two 2's on the screen that had a small artifact near the top of the number. The clock ticket over to 23, and the artifact disappeared from the remaining 2.
I think this is the correct place to start this thread.
I thought this would be a good place to discuss CM11 without hijacking someone else's thread.
I'm not a Dev and I don't think this is the appropriate place to provide feedback for CM. Just some place we can post our findings and share experiences.
Having said that:
My setup is
TWRP 2.6.3
CM11 12/26 nightly
PA day zero gapps
ART runtime
APEX pro.
-After every flash, in system/bin I change mpdecision to mpdecision.bak. Has almost completely eliminated BSOD. Thank You to @ATTACK for this tip. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48875062#post48875062
-All animations set to .5x
-Force GPU for 2D Dev options is checked.
-Disable HW overlays is NOT checked and on the 12/26 nightly, transitions are very smooth. (I've read in several places that checking that would actually slow things down, but generally my experience has been the opposite).
Google Now voice actions are off, but Google Now is enabled.
As of the last nightly, no problems.
Camera works again!
I don't use any graphics/intensive apps or games so I couldn't tell you how 4.4 or ART interacts with those.
Froze Chrome and I'm using Firefox. Haven't used it that much yet to tell much of a difference.
Generally been averaging 12+ hours with about 20% left. Some nightlies are more thirsty than others.
No WIFI or data issues.
Currently I can't think of any problems.
What's everyone else's experience?
Running 12-20 nightly with HW overlays disabled.
Some transitions are smooth, while others are pretty bad.
I can get about 16 hours with ~20% left, using WiFi 90% if the time.
I get around 1-2 bars of 3G/LTE, while I can get around 3-4 bars in the same area with other Verizon devices.

M2 feels significantly snappier than 1-03 nightly. Animations are without frame drops and some apps (notably YouTube) open in 1-2 seconds instead 3-4.

Yup,
Also went back to Dalvik from ART and other than home screen transitions (Apex) I haven't noticed a difference. That is too say Dakvik doesn't feel any slower than ART ot ART wasn't really that much faster.
Tap status bar to sleep doesn't work even though its enabled. It worked in an earlier build.
Update:
After a day or so, Dalvik seems to lag a little. ART stays pretty fluid and smooth. At least for me.

How's everybody's MMS working? I've been using this on my XT901 with my ROM converter, but seem to have lost MMS on the recent nightlies. When I was doing "testing" with builds from late 2013 I was sure I had it working. Any idea what might have changed?
2G/3G Quick Setting
Hi all, as of 01/07/2014 is the 2G/3G (network mode) present and working in your Quick Settings? I'm missing this tile and that's a deal breaker for me: I was forced to roll back to 10.2 Milestone 1...
Thanks!

So far, this is still the smoothest most stable rom I've used recently. There are lots of other roms with more and cooler features, but I keep coming back to CM11.
A bugs I've found though and through doing some Google searches, they're not unique to CM11 or the XT907, but I haven't found any solutions.
--In Profiles, when I set Vibration for Gmail or Email to No, it still vibrates when I receive an email. If I turn off vibrations within the Gmail or Email apps, I can't force it on through Profiles.
-- Since around the 1/9/14 nightly, when I try to change an alarm in clock it tells me that Unfortunately Clock has stopped. It's intermittent, but I can't tell what triggers it, or prevents it.
I can use the cLock widget on my home screen, but it won't show up on my lock screen. Toggling it on and off doesn't seem to help.
Other than those, smooth sailing.
I have an issue with my T-Mobile S2.
I just recently installed Dirty Unicorns ROM (4.3.1) on my S2.
When I first booted up I realized how much I hate the Backlights.
I have already searched for quite some time now with no luck.
I have also gone through every part of my settings hoping for an option and coming empty handed.
I have already tried screen filter and no good.
So if you can help me out and find a way to disable these eye-bleeding lights, that would be amazing!
Thanks in advance!

It's probably the kernel. I had something like that happen on HellKat 4.4 with the stock kernel.
I installed Cl3kener's UBER kernel and it was fixed.
Try flashing a 4.3 UBER kernel.

Because I had DU on my s3 and I wanted it on my s2 also.
<nvm>
I had DU on my s2 for a couple of months. there is definitely a setting to turn off the hardware key lights. forget where though. had to quit using DU because the status bar kept disappearing. Switched to slimkat and buttery smooth; just wish it had a working camcorder.
