If you can get your MSL, try to enable the LTE Bands 26 and 41 in the ##DATA# dialer code and see if you are able to connect to the Band 26 and 41 LTE.

Just got the MSL and enabled both. Its rebooting. What if anything should I notice?
Okay so when i enabled them both I noticed no difference, HOWEVER there are two other values in there for priority of each band. I set them all from 1 to 0. Now LTE is staying connected even tho it goes from 1 to 0 bars. Even with zero bars im getting 3 megs down and 1 up compared to 3g .5 megs and .1 up. So appearently this seems to be a way to force LTE on as I still havnt switched over to 3g

0o0o00o....I have so many questions. Ok which market do you live in? Like which city? I want to see if you have any LTE 2600 (B41) in your area and if you do I would like to see if you can connect to a LTE 2600 tower. I am trying to confirm if LTE 2600 (B41) is truly working when you manually enable it through MSL. Also can you change your Band Priority to have B41 set to "1" to have it enabled and set B25 to "0" so it is set to lower priority.
The concern is that since as you know when you activated it with Sprint, the B26 and B41 LTE bands were disabled by default. Normally folks don't know how to enable this and the question is WHY!!!

outside of the Atlanta Ga market. The weird thing is that when everything was set to 1 I never could connect to lte. When i set them all to 0 with all bands enabled I get a slight LTE signal. So maybe its like 0 high priority and 1 normal? And yes those bands were disabled by default

According to this thread http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/4886-lg-g2-users-thread/page-2, a "0" is meant for low priority and a "1" is for high priority.
Hmmm outside of Atlanta, GA isn't specific enough. It might be hard to verify this. There is LTE 2600 available in certain parts of Atlanta, GA blasting out the signal right now but I think I need more details like the community and nearby major cross street in town.

Well so far my tests have proven otherwise. Right now I just have 2600 enabled and the other disabled, With 0 value set I stays on LTE with 1 set it trys LTE but then lets go. Ill tell you Im in the worst market for lte in my area. 10 minutes in either direction and i get LTE, but where I live theres VERY little.

Well having B26 and B41 enabled doesn't mean your LTE will perform any better if the only LTE you have around you is B25. The reason to enable is that the hope is that if you are in an area where B41 LTE is available, the G2 should try to connect to that tower if it is within range. Its ok though, I am probably blowing your mind already with the stuff I am asking you to do so you can forget it. Thanks for the information though.
Btw, just curious did you get your phone already because you are an employee of Sprint or did you preorder early on Oct 11th? I preordered my LG G2 but I have not yet heard any confirmation of shipment.

I wasn't sure how tech saavy you were. Most people would have their minds blown by now. I guess you are not the average employee. HAHA ...i just wish I could get my LG G2 , get the MSL and enable the B26 and B41 LTE bands and go to my local towers that i know for sure is blasting out LTE 2600 and verify that I am getting and able to use the LTE 2600 signal.
There is an Android app called SignalCheck Pro (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.blueline.signalcheck&hl=en) that can show which frequencies you are connected to.
And then you would have to verify that you are truly connected to the B41 LTE band using the ##DEBUG# dialer code under LTE Engineering.

Ahh i see. Well good to hear from you. Yeah that SignalCheck app is cool. I definitely recommend you getting the Pro version for $2. The app was actually developed by a member at the S4GRU.com forums and it has been very useful in finding LTE especially with the Network Vision project going around Sprint by giving you audio and message alerts when LTE and 1x800 is nearby.
There are a lot of smart people over at S4GRU.com that know a lot about Network Vision and about smartphones in general. I learned all my information from that website alone. It is because of that site, I am able to find out which areas across the US that have B41 LTE that is broadcasting live at this moment.

hey HaiKaiDo. I have been reading in other forums that the Sprint LG G2 may be suffering from B25 LTE connectivity issues? Can you confirm if you are having LTE connectivity issues thus far?

GSM on DINC2 will not work without "2G only checked"

Hello everyone,
I have been stuck with this problem for days now with no more thoughts on how to fix it:
I have an unlocked, rooted DINC2 that I am trying to use with T-Mobile prepaid. I am currently running {10-25-2012}{Rom}{ICS} Official Global CM9 from Psycho R' Us. I can send/receive phone calls fine, however unless "2G only" is checked in the settings (EDGE), I can't get data working at all and it just shows all the bars grey. I believe my APN settings are correct... if anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this please let me know .
Thanks!

This phone doesn't support all gsm bands, so I doubt it will hit HSPA+. I don't know for sure, but you'd have to research what bands the phone supports vs. what bands T-mobile uses.

That's what I thought when I let a buddy use his Dinc2 to pay down some cash he owed me (his sociopath 20-something kid snaked two $100-bills outta my wallet...sigh)...but I seem to remember reading a thread that it won't work.
I honestly haven't spent much time on this after my initial searches since my main use is as a GPS logger, mp3 and audible player though I am prolly going to grab a ST or or GSM card to reduce device clutter...so while I haven't anything useful to contrib here I will follow and post any relevent links I stumble across tonight (working midnight shift so not a ton to do other than not fall asleep.

Has anybody tried to disable bands before, same issue here, no ounce of lte unless i update PRL/profile which only last a few mins.
All I can say is be patient. I had the same issue for a couple of months where I had to cycle airplane mode (or update PRL) to get LTE then promptly lose it. Disabling bands 41 and 26 helped. But after those two months, LTE works great most of the time without doing any of this.
Sprint is likely working on towers in your area.

Sprint has been "working on towers" in my area for over a year. Every time I go into the Sprint stores to ask when LTE will be here its always the same answer: 'Well they are actually working on upgrading the towers right now, so if you are experiencing issues with data connectivity or slow speeds thats probably why. They expect to have LTE fully up and running in 1-2 months'. And as of today, still no LTE. And 3G speeds that are so slow it wont even register on a speed test.
http://newsroom.sprint.com/news-releases/sprint-celebrates-americas-newest-network-with-a-satisfaction-guarantee-offering-wireless-users-a-30-day-riskfree-trial.htm
Click on the link and read the section about 8T8R radios. So basically before Sprint brings LTE to all of its customers they started introducing Spark in select areas. Then also before completing their LTE rollout they will be upgrading the Spark towers. Even after LTE is installed it consistently tests the slowest of all 4 major carriers. And as more people buy phones that are LTE/Spark compatible, it will only get worse.
So yes it is good to be patient. But Sprint's upgrades and improvements are very slow coming so don't hold your breath.
I like it
Lets me know how network is going
Freaking hate Spark. Glad to find this thread... I disabled the two bands and it's MUCH snappier now... Is there any reason I will need to re-enable these bands?
You'll want to reenable those bands unless you want a device that only works on 1/3 of the spectrum that Sprint has in the market. I can see disabling those bands during the upgrade process if you are having difficulty but with a finished product, I can't think of a single reason why you would ever want to disable those bands.

Yeah it's serious, your phone may have a different behavior than the LS980 due to the service provider unique tweak to stock android on your phone. Once the LS980 hidden menus are unlocked using the SPC code, the bands toggle no problem. Maybe that could be your issue, if it's not, that's why I suggested to find a thread related to your phone. Good luck!

LG G4 VS986 on T-Mobile LTE problem

Issue:
Phone will not stay locked on LTE in Global or LTE/UMTS/GSM mode. When in Global or LTE/UMTS/GSM mode and LTE does connect, it's momentarily and when trying to run a speed test or open a webpage, it quickly disconnects and connects to HSDPA. If switched to LTE/CDMA signal locks in great and data speeds are great however voice services are not available. Any thoughts or advice is welcomed. Thanks ahead of time!
Facts:
Phone: VS986
Android Version: 5.1
Build: LMY47D
Soft Version: VS98611A
APN: T-Mobile Fast apn (fast.t-mobile.com)
Strong LTE area
*#*#4636#*#* Not available on LG G4
Radio Swither Not available on LG G4
Rooted
Xposed installed
Gravity Box installed (no change when using smart radio features)
G3 Tweakbox installed but module will not register with Xposed Framework (I know it was along shot)
What band LTE are you connecting to? I found that here on band 2, I will connect at first, but then it switches back to edge. Seems fine in a band 4 LTE area though.

I haven't found LTE Discovery to report the band correctly, at least in my case. It would say I'm on band 4 on my Moto X, but when using a band 4 only device I would only get Edge, but when I go in a confirmed band 4 area it works fine. From what I've found, most 2G > LTE sites were converted to band 2 LTE. Although since you get HSPA the chances of it actually being on band 4 are higher.
I'm fairly certain this is a Band 4 area. The latest T-Mobile maps are pretty good about pointing out Band 2 areas. I've since sold the phone and acquired a iPhone 6 Plus which I'm looking to sell to replace it with an international G4 or T-Mobile G4. I was pretty impressed with that phone. If I had to rank my favorites, it's number 2. Nexus 5 is still king of the hill for me. There wasn't a better phone out when it was release for a better price.
did you ever figure this out? samething is happening to me
Unfortunately I didn't. I sold it and bought one for T-Mobile...... Which I just sold about 3 hours ago.
So I tested it out again, and in a band 2 area when I boot up my phone with a T-Mobile SIM, I get LTE for several seconds then it cuts back over to 2G.
Now that there is a new software update for the G4, I wonder if this is anymore reliable. Anyone who took the OTA update in the past few days, can you let us know if it's any better?
Sent from my VS986 using Tapatalk
Been there, done that...wanted to switch over to T-Mobile, but unfortunately, the VS986 only works with two of their three LTE bands, as you know, and it seems everywhere I went, they were using the one the phone doesn't receive (I'm in southern California, for what it's worth, but tested it on a freeway run up the I-5 to the central part of the state - only got 4G-LTE in a few places). Wound up going back to Verizon
I'm getting the exact same results in Burlington, VT (T-Mobile band 2 market). I first have to manually select T-Mobile (defaults to roaming on AT&T HSPA+) then LTE works for less than a minute (LTE Discovery says band 4) and then I lose signal when I get signal again, I only have edge. It does this constantly and is really annoying.
Aww, bummer. I was thinking about switching to T-Mobile, but looks like that is not a viable option? So no one has been able to successfully use the phone on T-Mobile, even after enabling bands 2 and 4 only?
This whole plethora of LTE bands, where each provider does its own crap is such a mess, is just serves to lock in customers, since switching phones is expensive. Government should mandate that all phones can work on all US LTE bands, the technology exists.
I am on the same boat. Everything works on my VS986 on t-mobile network. but I cannot get the LTE to work properly. LTE discovery shows band 4 (not sure if correct though)

My VRZ LG G4 shows that it has Band 2, 4, 5, and 13. I tried enabling 2 & 4 only, 4 only, 2 only, 2&4&13 only but with no success.
What is interesting is I am coming from VRZ LG G3 and LTE was just fine and never had an issue.
I looked at the VRZ LG G3 LTE bands and I see Band 3,4, and 13 enabled. It did not even have band 2.

I think since someone reported before that this used to work the G3, it sounds like a bug to me. I guess we can hope and pray that this will work in future releases, but there is no guarantee of course. Not sure what complaining to Verizon will do, since they are probably not very interested in you using T-Mobile. Of course, you can always wrap the complaint into something like you are using the phone in a different country on vacation and it doesn't work. Maybe a complaint to the FTC could work too, since it sounds like Verizon is required to have their phones unlocked for use on other networks based on some settlement.

I am tempted to try the guide in here to add more LTE bands:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/guide-enabling-lte-bands-t3137818
While some testers said the LTE bands are limited by hardware others reported some success modifying the software. Any thoughts?

does anyone know of a way to pick an LTE band?

i have sprint. in my office LTE band 26 (800MHz) is horrible. whereas LTE band 25 (1900Mhz) and 3G (EHRPD) are decent enough. is there an app or something else i can do to choose LTE band 25 and 3G over band 26? my phone (or PRL) is set up to prefer band 25 over 26 and 26 over 3g and i dont get band 25 almost anywhere in the building so my phone end up mostly on band 26. tasker and automate seem to be no help, and the dialer codes from sprint that could do somethng similar dont work on phones that dont have sprint bloatware. any help would be apreciated

It's pretty self explanatory once your in there. Go to LTE and I just turned off the bad band. The band priority section doesn't seem to do anything though

Yeah it's the cell towers that decide the band priority.
Oddly, this code doesn't work on my Pixel XL running on Fi. I had planned to run it to tell mine to not use Band 4.

The dialer codes are carrier specific, so this will only work if you are connected to Sprint either directly or through an mvno.

So do you leave it off or only when you're at a spot with bad performance? If you remove low band you'd be missing LTE in many areas.

3282 used to work on my mainline T-Mobile phones, but doesn't when Fi is attached to T-Mobile.
However, based on your comment I hard-switched to Sprint with *#*#34777#*#* and 3282 worked. Strange.

Neither works on Verizxon.
Is there an available entry code similar to these for Verizon Pixels?
Is there anything that works for T-Mobile users? Band 12 sucks for me here and band 4 works much faster and have yet to find a way to put the phone on band 4 like I could with my s7.

I don't have a problem with Band 12 but this would be awesome for T-Mobile; I'd like to know.
If any verizon users would like to poke around in there:

I have found that works and you can pick the technology between LTE UMTS and so forth, but that sadly won't let me pick which band of each to use.
Same issue

I have been having horrible dropped calls / data with the Pixel XL on Verizon (my second device just got here, still doing it). I've seen people in the pixel community forums that had some success disabling band 41 using that same menu*#*#3282#*#* and I get no menu opening. Do you need to be unlocked and / or rooted to get that menu?

Samsung S10+ Signal Fix Sprint (If Needed)

1.)Remove third party potential threating apps just to be sure.
2.)Always make sure the phones up to date on the latest firmware.
3.)The next step is to go to the dialer ##72786# that forces the phone to reactivate.
4.)Next step go back to the dialer and dial ##3282#
4.2)Go to edit
4.3)Then type 000000
4.4)Then go to LTE
4.5)Then go to band 41 that is enabled and uncheck to disable.
4.6)Then go to band 25 that is enabled and uncheck to disable.
4.7)Then go to band 41PCII that is enabled and uncheck to disable.
5.)Reboot the phone don't expect full LTE service yet there are still some more steps...
6.)Go to settings find VOLTE and enable. Search VOLTE in the search bar to enable it.Swipe right on the button to turn it on. New icon will pop up at the top of the phone if done correctly.
7.)Then go back to the dialer and type ##3282#
7.2)Go to edit
7.3)Then type 000000 again
7.4)Then LTE again
7.5)Then go to band priority
7.6 & 7.7)Set both bands 41 and 25 to the bottom of the list by typing the number 17 on band 25 and 18 on band 41 and that pushes them down the list. Make sure band 26 is set to 1 on the priority list.
7.8)Then turn off your phone and turn it back on.
FYI band 26 doesn't work with the "Kick Start" plan. And band 25 only works if 41 isn't rolled out in your area (Not widespread anyway).

Odd, cant ever load anything on band 26. 25 only works through my "magic box" because it re-broadcasts on 41.

I can tell you, from experience, I have a Galaxy S10 plus that had issues with the signal. I had to disable bands to get it to just work. I bought a Sprint variant phone but moved to T-Mobile and it followed. I eventually had to send it in for repair and it was a hardware issue. There were a lot of phones with this issue.
If you have to do all of this to get it to work, it's a defective phone. You pay $1000+ for a phone you shouldn't have to do a temporary fix, it should just work properly. If I have issues like I did before, I'm just sending it back.

Yes this was my experience as well. Sending it back for a repair was the only acceptable fix in my opinion. It doesn't matter what order you put the bands in as the phone will eventually get on one of them and just stay there with little to no data. In many areas Band 26 is no better than slow 3g

So far my customers that live out in the rural areas like the country are no longer having battery drainage issues and roaming issues to where they can't connect. I work for Sprint Corporate and so far this troubleshoot guide has helped a lot of people. Thanks

Ahh you work for Sprint.... Your post makes a ton more sense now. "Here, do this with your broken phone on our network so it works like it is 2006 again". I am sorry to be a d#$k but this is the exact reason I just left Sprint after 20 years; this is not a FIX, it is a band aid.

Hey man I've been in the wireless industry for 8 years and have worked for all the providers at this point hell even Comcast. All I'm trying to do is do some good by giving "a solution" to the people until things gets fixed on Sprints side. I'll be honest there some areas in the US that Sprint has more coverage than others and all I'm trying to do is help people. I truly am sorry for how you feel towards Sprint as even some areas don't have the privilege to have the signal and frequencies that you have. I appreciate if you can understand to where I'm coming from as all I'm trying to do is help people. Put aside the emotional factor please don't take something and flip it to a negative. Just scroll and move on my man. I hope you have a great day.
I am not on sprint, but thank you for helping those in need. This is a bandaid fix, but knowledge is power and alot of people may not send in their phone for repair for various reasons. Sharing is caring you also have a great day random internet stranger.
Thank you.

Fair point. Sorry about my crankiness.
Will this help with everyone that has a Sprint S10+? Seems like sometimes I do have signal issues but not sure if it will definitely help. Didn't know if it would reset my phone or affect other things if I do these steps.
Just tried this will see how it goes, I'm in rural NE on sprint.
This sounds just like the signal issues from launch... If your having to jump through hoops like this just to get a modicum of signal, then your phone is bad. Get it replaced.
I don't know if this fixes the problem but as far as I know, If you're having your sprint s10 dropping the signal or getting roaming, it's a hardware problem and you should just go to a corporate store and get it replaced, (only if you got it from a corporate in the first place).
Source: I work for your sprint insurance company.
Edit: grammar.
I just got October ota update on my s10+ unlocked that I bought from Samsung and use on sprint. I've been disabling band 41 and 25 since I bought it. I just revisited the "fixes" and found a setting I've never looked at before and it seems to have fixed mine. I followed the ##3282# then Edit then msl then More at the bottom then HDR/1X setting. Mine had nothing selected by default. I set to LTE+CDMA+EVDO which triggered a restart. Now Lte+ and connections are switching and working properly. I dont have any bands disabled now and it appears to work the way it should have been all along. Hopefully this can help other people!
