Has anyone heard what is up for the Nexus 5 over at dbrand? I'm sure they have a product in development. I own several skins from them and they are top quality for sure.

N5 skins are on the way. Considering the N4 skins thread had 512,000 views and over 4400 responses, we should all be in for a LOTR journey on this thread.
There are a few elements that go into making a skin, I'll outline them below and give an ETA. Many tasks are done concurrently, we have many Robots.
1. Measure the device, draw the vector, cut the skin, apply the skin, measure the offset, repeat around 1,000x to achieve a flawless fit.
2. Cut a few hundred skins for the pre-orders and contemplate a few thousand more for the upcoming month.
3. Shoot and edit a how to apply tutorial video. Very high production values.
4. Shoot 14 skin styles in 5 angles on 2 devices (plus post-editing: colour correction, dust removal). You do the math.
5. Create renderings for 14 skin styles, 4 pieces (front/back/left_frame/right_frame), 2 devices, with/without nexus cutouts. More math?
6. About 80 computing hours of .jpeg/.png and compression on all the assets created.
7. Code all that sh*t on the site.
8. Hit hard on the marketing campaigns we planned out weeks ago.
ETA is (realistically) Monday morning for the pre-order. We'll ship everything but the screen protectors on Wednesday. Screen protectors will arrive shortly after.
Pricing is still TBD, but we are confirming the following coverage: Back piece with our signature "nexus" cutouts. Front piece (full picture-frame style). Frame pieces with intimidatingly-precise cutouts. Anti-glare screen protectors, fitted so that they insert into the front skin screen cutout like a puzzle piece.
I'll pop by with exclusive pre-release content once the creatorBots have worked a bit of their alchemy. So far all I can tell you is that installation is going to be a breeze. The soft-touch coating is prime for skins, and the extreme protrusion of the camera gives a reference point that is foolproof.

creatorBots are right on track with the N5. It's looking fantastic. Application could not possibly be simpler. The "nexus" lettering is sexy as hell. Working out the corners on the back piece next, then it's off to the frame/front. Attached is a prototype photo.

Just saw on Facebook that they aren't gonna do the cutout now. Makes me sad and I'm not sure why cause they did it great on the new n7

This is just a prototype material we use when making the template skins. Takes a LOT of material to create the templates and we don't like to waste stuff that can be sold.

My HTC died. Random phone death and it mad me sick. Gonna send it into HTC but it's completely non responsive and my computer doesn't even see it at all. I've had this Optimus G for awhile.

Thought i'd start a post for anybody who has these skins for their gs2. I ordered the flame skin and its excellent quality...here's some pictures...

well, i have a rubber surround for mine...but i installed a screen protector and then applied the skin to it.

Them flames dont look too bad.
Are these skins really thin then, like the screen protectors?
Are they stuck on with glue, will the glue/sticky stuff remain on the phone once skin is removed?
Good concept though (skin with matching/flowing wallpaper)
Ive had a look on the site and now i know nobody else has one of these, its cos 90% the designs are all too cartoony or for younger people, except for the flames one pretty much.
I wouldnt like to pull out a phone covered in cartoons infront of colleagues.
Something simple like the D&G stripes down the back and front (on the left side)would look good imo but obv that would cost alot more.
the skinz are very thin and are sticky on the back...not glue tho...piss easy to install...you get a part for the centre button and for the surrounding camera tho i lost that bit lol...i agree that the others are abit cartoony but, well, you said it yaself, the flames skinz is the most suitable...it does make the phone stand oit tho..i've had numerous people ask me about the skin...

I was researching because I have seen people skin black iPhone's (bleh) and such to be white and I thought it looked awesome. I found a site that has a very huge reputation and customer feedback that now supports the Galaxy Nexus! I already ordered my white skin! These are awesome because they do not add any bulk and look legit!
Will post pictures of just a few examples, they have 8 pages of skins though! 9.99 for the skin, not bad at all just an FYI for anyone that also wanted to do this,

Looks good but a no no for me if notification led is covered. Mind you The white skin would look brilliant with white theme.
you can just use a hole puncher to make the led notification.
if you want it all white, soon there will be white nexus shells available and mercury (korea company that makes cases and protectors for mobile phones)makes the multi colour screen protectors for many phones including the nexus are already available.

Not very good at making holes could ruin it. Shells will probably make significantly bulkier which I don't want.
I will probably wait for feedback on skin.

this one is my friends (i made the design online on their site and he applied on his phone for now) he said it was easy , and skinit is better since you can do your own design.
I much prefer using gelaskins myself since they only seem to be the ones that cover the full back of the nexus while other sites just cover the battery door and a strip underneath it. Plus like many other sites you can make custom skins for yourself with custom designs.
Plus they are a local business. Gotta support the local economy

I mean the actual frame/shell, not a protective case that goes on top.
Check out the new creation. I know a lot of people have storm trooper epics (white+black)
but this is a combination of a black screen, the silver band from a white housing, and a black back. Looks sick!!! (the back piece is the white housing. so if you take the battery door off, its actually white.

Hey, my E4GT has a couple dings on the body right next to the glass. Judging from the OP's pictures, it looks feasible to replace that part with new? My question, to anyone who may know is: Would it be worth fixing the phone before I sell it? I'm guessing, as it stands now, the phone's in "fair" condition (as Swappa.com would classify) and probably get easy $200. Now if I replaced the body the phone would be worth an EASY $250...Is this a worthwhile thing to do?

Also very interested in what this looks/feels once someone has their hands on it. I'm leaning on this or a Cruzerlite TPU.
I have the Nexus 4 version and I like it a lot. I particularly like the protruding buttons that are easy to press, this is by far my favorite thing about this bumper. The grip is very comfortable due to the textured TPU material in the bottom. It doesn't secure the phone very tightly due to the plastic frames being flexible, but it is somewhat snuggly, I dropped the phone twice and it stayed in. I wouldn't trust a drop higher than 6ft+ though.
Like the oem Nexus 4 bumper, it have a weak spot under the USB port that can break in two, but mine is still fine, I think it would only happen if you constantly remove the phone many times in a day, which I don't do. I don't know how it's going to be with the Nexus 5, but with the Nexus 4 it doesn't interfere or lift the screen protector on the edges.
I use it with the XtremeGuard skin (or tempered glass), together making a very affordable but good looking combination, closest to naked but with reasonable protection. For $10 it's a very good purchase.

you have no idea how old those cases were or what happened to them. Doesn't mean the product is poor the user could have dropped it etc

Speck always over charges for their cases. They cater to the rich stupid iPhone people. And I agree the case colors they choose suck. I wanted a plain black one.
I do like the white and blue one but not for 35 bucks

This case is great for side and corner impacts, but the small lip hinders its face flat resistance.
My friend has this case on his sgs3, and I saw his phone drop onto our tile office floor and crack the screen, while in the case!
The floor did have a slightly raised edge, due to it being tile, but nothing a good case shouldn't have protected against.

^ sorry if my post seemed discouraging. I can only speak for the experiences I've seen with this case in an s3, which is 2 years old.
If the lip is a decent height, things should be fine if it falls facewards. Back and sides should be fine because of the thick plastic/rubber the case is made from. Let us k know how it fists!
