[Q]Can't access Recovery Mode! LT15i - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
i can't enter my recovery mode, when i power on the phone i pressed the volume rocker down, but it doesnt work!! can someone tell me whats wrong? i have a custom rom flashed called super jellybeam and when i power up my phone it says FUSION instead of Sony Ericsson.
Please help me
Thanks in advance
Stefan

U can change kernel

Fusion is a custom kernel and should have a recovery. If you can't access it then use a different kernel.
僕のLT18iから送られてきた

but the thing is, i was already in the recovery... are there any other button combinations known which i could try before changing the kernel?= im a bit of a noob and everytime i do sth like flashing and rooting

No, only one button takes you to the recovery.
How did you flash the kernel? Describe with details.

down-volume rocker
restart the phone and still pressing the down-volume rocker

I'm having the same problem. I have previously (6months +) flashed the stock Android 4.0 with the rootable kernel. I recently chose the factory reset option within the settings and it bootloops between Sony and xperia screens however no combination works to go to recovery, fastboot etc. I see that normally the led changes colour but it doesn't flash at all. I cannot force fastboot through adb as the phone bootloops before drivers load. I have tried powering off pressing the down volume, also l separately pressing the up volume, also the menu and finally the back button. I've also tried combinations of each too. Any ideas?

Sorry for the slow reply. Yep, tried that and no difference. I'm sure the led lit up at some point under gingerbread, but there doesn't appear to be any change with ics. That's when I thought you had to press the combination. Here, I've tried spamming all buttons and tried holding all buttons. Nothing seems to work. The phone just doesn't seem to boot enough for the flash tool to recognise it, so no hope though that method either.
Any ideas (to the many geniuses on here) ?

Optical Trackball not working in recovery and stuck in the HTC boot logo

I don't know what to do because my device is currently not booting. The device is stuck at the HTC logo for a very long time (both when booting normaly or going in to revovery). The device finaly is finished booting in like 10 min. , but when it is finnished booting the touch on the screen doesn't work, it keeps a black background and it says no service. In revovery on the otherhand the optical trackball doesn't work anymore, the hardware button does tho because the first option "Reboot system now" does work.
What should I Do???

Have you tried using the volume up / down buttons for moving around the menus and power button for select in recovery?

The volume up/down buttons dont work in recovery
Now its just stuck in a bootloop .
And there is no way of wiping the device, because the trackball isn't working.
hep would be greatly appreciated
The first thing I would try is to remove the SD card and see if your phone boots.
If that doesn't work. Have you tried putting fake flash on your SD and booting into recovery on that to test your trackpad?
Why has it started playing up in the first place? Did you have a bad flash? A wee bit of the history of your device might help to find out what's going on.

the trackball isn't working in the fakeflash. The whole problem didn't happen after a bad flash, but it just went in a bootloop when i tried to put it on this morning. I was running Defrost 1.4
You don't need trackball in the fakeflash. You navigate there using volume up and down. It should work. Try .
How about resetting it by doing the following.
Switch it off, or remove battery > Hold volume down and power button > wait a few seconds > use volume to go to clear storage > power button to select. This doesn't involve going into recovery so your buttons might work there.
Can't you get into the bootloader mode with vol. down + power and wipe it there?
Edit: Few secs too late heh

You need the trackpad to select the option after choosing it with volume up/down.

No, it says clear...... and then it just restarts the bootloop
The fake-flash worked!!!!!!!
I deleted everthing there but now, when I boot up the device it boot up straight into fastboot
You could try now using an ruu to flash. Or try getting into recovery and see if you can use the buttons now.
I'll try a ruu, but the recovery still wont work

Now the official RUU is doing a bootloop...

[Q] Alternate ways to get into recovery after a bad flash?

My Desire is gonna be 4 years old soon, so naturally a few bits & pieces aren't as good as new. My main problem is the volume down button: It's just dead. It doesn't do anything, no matter how hard / where I press. It used to be that it didn't register anything just after the 3rd-4th try, but now it does nothing at all.
I like installing roms, but now I'm afraid, what if I encounter a bad flash? If I get a bootloop, I just can't get into recovery via the volume down + power combo. And that would mean that my phone is dead. Bricked.
Is there any way to change this combination to, for example trackpad + power button, or something like this? Or is there any way to get into recovery when I encounter a bootloop / bad flash that doesn't require pressing the volume down button?

Back+power button gets you in fastboot. Then select Bootloader, and then recovery.
Or you can use back + power to get into fastboot, then use "fastboot boot recovery.img" to boot directly into the recovery.
Or
adb reboot recovery
From your PC via USB cable, you can type that even when currently in bootloop ( no need to pull battery)
Thank you, I'm a little more optimistic about flashing now

[Q] Can't enter download mode

Hey guys.A while back I wanted to install adfree so I rooted my e975.Sometime in August I updated the android to 4.4.2 and I think the phone got unrooted. But SuperSU was still installed and I wanted it removed. So I tried a factory reset (settings->backup&reset->factory reset data) but SuperSU was still there afterwards.
Then I thought I should flash the kdz.So I tried to get my phone into download mode (volume buttons pressed and then connect to pc) but the screen shows nothing.I also tried going into recovery (volume down+power button) but that doesn't appear to work either.
Does anyone have any idea what's wrong with my phone?Everything else is working fine so maybe I'm doing something wrong.
Sorry if something doesn't make sense, English isn't my first language.
No one has any ideas?
I think this may be a hardware problem so I should find a way to hide the fact that the phone got rooted in case I need to sent it back.Is there any way to remove SuperSU without flashing the kdz?

Thanks for helping me brijen95.I just tried what you said and volume down+power key doesn't seem to work. The screen just stays black so I can't do a hard reset.Vol+ and connect to pc doesn't work either. The phone just starts charging after a few seconds.I also just reinstalled the drivers but it didn't change anything.
I had a hard time getting into download mode recently as well. What ended up working for me was holding the volume keys for about 10 seconds, then while still holding the buttons, plugging the usb cable into the phone.
No that didn't work either .
Is there any way to remove SuperSU?Keep in mind that my phone is not rooted anymore.
Edit: Well I just found out that the phone is entering download mode but not showing anything on the screen.I managed to flash the kdz with no issues.

[Q] Can't boot to recovery

I have a F400K G3 (Korean Olleh). It's rooted and bumped. I flashed the bumped TWRP image via Flashify and rebooted recovery via Flashify. It works. But when I try boot to recovery from a complete shutdown. It just boots into safe mode. I did exactly what was stated in the Bump thread (Power+V. Down, when logo appears, release then press again quickly) and also tried substituting V. Down button with V. Up, but it still wont boot to recovery. It just keeps going into safe mode. The video provided in the thread was using an AT&T model so maybe it differs from every variant. I want to know if I'm doing something wrong or the instructions are wrong.
Thank you.
You tried without releasing? Just keep holding buttons

I have tried it as well without releasing. Does the same thing. And it never shows the reset screen. It just goes directly to the boot animation. Rebooting from Flashify also doesn't show the reset screen but it does get to TWRP. But I need to boot it from complete shutdown because I'm gonna test a Flashable zip ROM without root so rebooting using Flashify would be impossible.
Bump.
Seriously. Anyone?
I am subscribing because I have the exact same problem. I have tried every key combination I could find for the G2 and G3 but no luck...
This is exactly the kind of problems you get when using stuff like Flashify. The holding of the buttons etc you mentioned should work. Are you sure you aren't connected using a micro usb?

No, I am not connected to USB. If I reflash the recovery using ADB will it work? But I do have some worries because I'm using KitKat bootloader on a Lollipop Stock-based ROM (here) and I think I may get some errors.
It's not very important right now because I have root now and can reboot to recovery using Flashify.
I think all korean models cant enter recovery via hardware keys, mine is F400L and have the same problem.
Untouched LG G3
I have a completely untouched LG G3 uk version only official software no root etc and mine won't go into hard reset mode. I have tried 3 or 4 times it always goes into safe mode
same issue
f400k.
able to boot into recovery by softwares
but unable with hard keys.
last night was installing bliss pop. but stuck on boot animation. now wont go to recovery watsoever.

Turn off the phone completely. Press and hold Power and Volume Down. When the LG logo appears, release. After a split second, press volume down and volume up. White screen asking you to reset will appear. Press Yes two times using Volume buttons.
UP!!!
Any remedies? I justed from stock to cm12 LG g3 F400L..
Cant go to recovery mode. Cant flash anything..
Same prob,always going to safemode.f400k rooted,cloudy2.5
i've Lg g3 F4ooL and using Resrruction remic 5.5.5
I stuck in a Bootloop and my device is also not booting into Recovery or safe Mode.
Lg flash Tool is also not Connecting to my device in Downloadmode.
I think There is NO solution At ALl
Has anyone solved this issue?
to get in recovery on F460s, worked on mine, Press Vol-up + Power, as the logo appears release the keys and press Vol-up + Vol-down, you will boot into recovery.
I have the same issue, cant go into recovery using hard buttons on F400K. Any one able to succeed in this?
Same issue on LG G3 F460S, no combination of power + volume buttons + releasing them and pressing again when LG logo appears works. The device go straight into booting system and gets stuck. Is there any other method - maybe short-circuit some pins on the motherboard, to boot into recovery or do a system reset? Please...
OK, turns out that the combination is different for Korean models of G3, as misbah711 wrote, volume UP + power, when logo appears, release and press both volume UP + volume DOWN. If that does not work, try again, but release only the POWER button and press immediately volume DOWN (while volume UP was held all the time). Also, I first tried it without the back cover, as I have to remove battery to turn it off, did not work. Then with the cover it did, not sure if it's an important detail or not.
However it's not the end of the story for me. An image with Korean text appears, and nothing. No combination of power and volume buttons pressing does anything. I'm attaching the image. Also tried a web service to do Korean OCR and then used Google Translate - does not make any sense. Could anyone advise how to proceed and do a factory reset on this device? It won't boot into the system (gets stuck), no adb or any other communication with it.
Edit:
Turns out that when the Korean text appears and I connect USB cable to my PC, adb works correctly. Typed:
adb reboot recovery
The phone rebooted into recovery and now I'm doing a factory reset on it. Looks like all will be fine.
i have d851 on stock kitkat. I flashed TWRP and Philz but no way i can get into recovery mode. it always goes to fastboot mode no matter how I reboot into recovery. Now i am looking for stock recovery image. or a way to fix the twrp/philz. ROM boots just fine.

Recovery-mode only, is there any hope?

[SOLVED] Download mode can't be removed, I had to try all dat long but I finally could boot into it.
Hi,
So... I had a working Samsung Galaxy S9 (SM-G960F/DS) running Lineage OS yesterday. I noticed something wrong related to the mobile network in my country (FR) and decided to flash the correct stock firmware matching the country code XEF before doing a full LOS reinstall.
Fast-forward 20hrs of download, I perform the flash operation this morning using heimdall(1) and reboot.
Now, the phone bootloops. I can't get into download mode as usual, and the only thing that is available is the stock recovery mode that allows:
apply update from adb
apply update from sdcard
wipe data
wipe cache
mount /system
view logs
run graphics test
I have a working all-countries firmware archive that contains the one that was working previously (minus the mobile network problem). But since I don't have download-mode anymore I can't install it. I tried adb sideload (which is available via the "apply update from adb" option), wipe data/cache to no avail.
Is that hard-brick? Did you ever experience a similar situation? I think there's no way out of this but any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks again!
You should be able to get into Download Mode (Vol Down & Bixby & Power)
Keep trying, try keeping hold of the button combo until after the phone reboots twice hopefully the second time into download mode
Download mode has nothing to do with firmware or recovery that has been flashed, and if you can enter recovery mode, it doesn't sound like a hardware problem either
And use a Windows machine & ODIN 3.13.1 to flash stock
Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work, i tried many tiimes and I usually can do that very easily. It seems flashing the corrupted images wiped it out.

Impossible as it is not part of the firmware, nor can be touched by firmware, it is part of the hardware (Think BIOS vs OS)
You can even 100% wipe all internal storage clean so there is no OS at all and download mode will still work fine
Keep trying
Okay I guess it's possible that the download mode is still there but I can't reach it.
I've been trying hundreds of times every combination I can think of (including Home + Vol Down + Power that used to work).
Any alternative way to trigger the download mode ?
How are you trying Home? There is no physical home button
The button combo is Vol Down & Bixby & Power from a powered off state
Keep a hold of all 3 until it hits the Warning screen, then hit Vol Up to enter Download mode
No other way to access it that I know of, USB Jig hasn't worked since a few models back
Have you tried factory resetting from inside recovery? Unless you used CSC during the stock firmware flash, that could be a reason for the bootloop

Maybe the issue is with the Volume Down button, does it work inside of recovery for navigating the menu ?
What happens when you try entering Download mode? It just tries to boot as if you didn't press anything?
Only other thing is to hold Volume Down & Bixby, then connect the USB cable to power it on (instead of using the power button)

The volume down button works perfectly in the recovery menu.
When I try entering download mode normally while device is powered down, the phone never turns on.
When I try to hold the buttons during the interval of the boot loop, it goes to recovery (yes, even with volume down, not volume up).
The other technique you mentioned also went to recovery.

BINGO! I kept trying. Did this all day literally hundreds of times.
And it just worked.
I didn't change the way I do it, I think there was some nasty timing going on with the boot loop.
Anyways... lesson learnt: download mode is indeed hardcoded. What a day!
Thanks for being so helpful!
