Hi,
Is XDA under some sort of denial of service attack?
It's been down multiple times during the last two weeks. And this reports long, 1400 ms response times multiple outages and slow hours in the last two weeks:
http://www.isitdownrightnow.com/xda-developers.com.html
while normal is around 140 ms..
Also submissions to the posts are timing out in the browser and the XDA app is crashing on clicking on different posts and submissions are funny too.
This has all the makings of a concerted attack on the XDA servers. Is some competitor/"security" organisation trying to restrict the flow of conversation on the forums?
Ya strange issues going on here. Have posted a.message on this link

Lets see what can be done...

I have found up to 21 sites tracking us here on xda developers, Google is okay but 21 is way too much.
Why so many trackers here?
I am using the sheepish extension for Google chrome browser which shows all trackers on a website....
No idea

Yeah I noticed that the other day when using fiddler. Some of the ads try to use cross site scripting too...very naughty
It might be a way to catch naughty naughty boys and girls, or it could just be a way for this site to make its $ money $, in conclusion I have also noticed it. :-(

Anyone lately getting spam text messages? I've been getting some that tell me to go online or reply to subscribe. Without me doing anything, I immediately get another confirming my subscription. This is driving me nuts. I think it might be an app but I have not installed/bought anything new in a couple of days. The only coincidence is that it started when I flashed ginger snap. I'm not saying that it is causing it but i'm out of ideas.
Anyone else experiencing this?

its definitely coming from a app. more than likely a free music downloader or something like that. they are paying for that free stuff somehow...lol
I never trust free stuff. The last apps I installed were toki Tori and tiny tower. But I installed those last week. I just started getting these spam messages yesterday.

It could also be that whoever had your # before you did signed up with jamster or something. That happened to me.

I was on my desktop pc about 130 am or so..
Yep got the same message last night, I ran a scan last night after logging off, nothing found though.
Hmmmm. I wonder if they added an upgrade to the servers or if it had bad advertising on the site

More than likely just a bad ad, this happens to me occasionally from time to time on other forums as well and that's always been the case.
Happened to me as well.. Something going on within this xda site off internet browsers..chrome kicked me out saying malware alert..from site....
I had to go into settings and advance settings..and click off enable malware phishing setting ..which ibdint want to leave off.. What's going on with xda now?
Me too. I got so pissed I deleted Google chrome .I was in the middle of several things. And all is well now. I'm not going to fool with chrome anymore any way its too heavy to me .

not sure either but taking off Chrome worked for me also. Maybe it was a type of conflict with the site...
This is my first post so be easy with me please. I have been running CM11 snapshots on my T-Mobile galaxy sIII for a long while and so far so good. However as of last three months or so I have had some serious issues with sms. I'm not sure if it is a carrier/network issue or perhaps a cm issues maybe it's not even on my side but when I get text messages from one particular contact, who uses an iPhone, every couple of messages end with the world "null." Usually it's a long message and I only receive the first half and then it ends with "null." I have tried numerous different sms apps like hangouts and sliding cm messaging, but I typically prefer the stock sms app. I'm not sure what to do to fix it and I haven't found anybody else with this issue. It's really frustrating to have to ask this contact to resend messages multiple times just to get the jist of what they're saying. I hope there's a solution. I have flashed new snapshot of CM and I just recently updated the modem. Everything else works perfectly just this sms issue is bugging me.
PS. I've tried a clean install and the problem is still present. I had posted a screen shot over in the cm forums but because I am a noob to Xda I can't post external links yet.
Thanks for any help!*

Do they have alternative sms apps for the iphone? Ask your friend to try a few and see if that helps.
No alternative sms apps that I know of. My friend just uses the stock iPhone sms app.

I'm pretty sure its an Apple problem, and they refuse to address it because they know many will blame Android and hopefully switch to their iPhone. You should be able to find some articles on it with a google search.
I mean I'm sure that's a possibility. Whatever it is I hope it gets resolved soon. I've tried searching under multiple terms and I've only come across similar incidents like mine with blackberries from few years ago. So I haven't seen anything with an iPhone causing this kind of sms issue. Also thanks for all of your input.

This is what I was referring to, but it seems its not exactly the same as your problem.

Still, ask your friend to turn off iMessage in their Settings and see if that helps.
I remember reading that entry about the iMessage bug. I owned an iPhone about four years ago, it was the 3g. It was before iMessage was created too. I don't think that's the problem but still I wouldn't rule it out. I'll make sure that my friend has iMessage turned off.

If you use it on anything it can cause problems. So if you have a mac or tablet and are using it there, make syre to sign out or disable it there as well.
Thanks for all the help. I lucked out and got an invite for the oneplus one. So I'm using that now and so far no problems at all. If I very get any invites to give away I'll check back with you to see if you want one. Thanks again.

The Damn bug is back again!! I finally found something about it on the T-Mobile forums. Apparently it's not an isolated problems. A lot of people have the same issue that I am having with a similar setup. So what it's boiling down to is that it is a t-mobile issue with how they handle sms over 160 characters. I'm not sure if this can be fixed by changing some values in the apn settings but I'm gonna see what I can find out.

I would not believe this, I've been using T-Mobile for many, many years and have never had this problem when sending or receiving long messages. I think its either their carrier or device
Well yeah I've been with Tmo for at least the past ten years. I've never had any bug like this. I'm gonna go ahead and day that's it's not a device problem. I've now experienced the issue with multiple devices. Also in different forum entries people have cited receiving the bug from multiple carriers with various iPhone and android devices. Furthermore it can't be a coincidence that the null bug popped up around the same time for many users. Sorry if I sound rude, I really don't mean to. I really appreciate the input and help.

No offense taken.. Usually when I receive texts from friends using other carriers that are long they are split and I receive them separately but no null at the end.. It still sounds carrier related to me tbh, no way so many phones would just start messing up sending or receiving long messages.. It's either one or the other.. Of course this is just my opinion.. After you have made sure you have correct APN, returned to stock firmware, made sure you are using stock SMS app to confirm same issue, there's really not much left to troubleshoot besides calling T-Mobile to reset your account, or for them to admit they are having issues
Yeah same here, usually when I receive long text messages they're split. I think you're right, it's carrier related. I've chatted with T-Mobile reps twice now and they basically blamed AT&T and took no responsibility. I've always used the stock sms app to avoid any issues and I verified that I apn I'm using is correct. So I guess all I can do is wait and hope it works itself out. Also what do you mean by reset my account?
Sent from my 1+One using XDA Premium
Actually, if it were your device or T-Mobile, it would be happening with more than just one of your contacts. I still believe the issue is on their end, not yours.

The AVG app said it was vulnerable if mms was set to auto-retrieve

The Lookout app says mine is vulnerable, but from what I understand, most Androids are, so the app really told me nothing.
But at the last item on the list, it says to download Lookout, leading me to believe that the app is nothing more than a downloaded advertisement.
Lookout is probably the most reputable mobile antivirus out there. I'd be astounded if they pulled a stunt like that.

I don't think they're that reputable when most people disable the pre-installed version when they get their phone.
Most people don't disable anything. Hardcore phone jockeys like here on XDA do, but that's because we disable EVERYTHING that's pre-installed and unessential in the usually vain hopes of boosting performance. And if they weren't reputable, I doubt Samsung would deliberately partner them with KNOX.

That's funny because I don't know anyone, here in the real world, that keeps it. And a vast majority of them don't even know what XDA is.
And just because they are teaming up with Sammy doesn't mean anything other than they are paying more than the others were offering.

I emailed the zimperium to ask about the discrepancy. I know some people are reporting passing their test. My friends nexus 5 passed today after update. Why are some still failing? Hopefully we hear more over the next few days.

I bet they would respond to twitter posts regarding this discrepancy. Wonder if anyone here wants to hit them up. I would but don't have an account or know much about it other than companies usually don't ignore social network postings.

LOL I dropped my Twitter after it was hacked by some Muslims. They were posting stuff in my name to it. So I deleted it and never went back. Over never had my Facebook hacked, they attempted to hack my Google account but failed. I decided since it took less than three months to hack Twitter, their security must be $#!+. Oh well. Barely used it anyhow.
