malware - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

I came to the forum last night to look around. .. And Google Chrome kicked me out screaming about malware....
This is the first time it happened last night. ...
Any one else ever get this?
I was on my desktop pc about 130 am or so..

Yep got the same message last night, I ran a scan last night after logging off, nothing found though.

Hmmmm. I wonder if they added an upgrade to the servers or if it had bad advertising on the site

More than likely just a bad ad, this happens to me occasionally from time to time on other forums as well and that's always been the case.

Happened to me as well.. Something going on within this xda site off internet browsers..chrome kicked me out saying malware alert..from site....
I had to go into settings and advance settings..and click off enable malware phishing setting ..which ibdint want to leave off.. What's going on with xda now?

Me too. I got so pissed I deleted Google chrome .I was in the middle of several things. And all is well now. I'm not going to fool with chrome anymore any way its too heavy to me .

What browser could you possibly be comparing it to? Opera mini, for gods sake. Lol! Chrome is by far the lightest and fastest

Ok this is not a di€k swinging contest. ..my question is. ... Why did the site spew a malware warning?

not sure either but taking off Chrome worked for me also. Maybe it was a type of conflict with the site...

[Q] Looking for a Virus protection program for rooted phones?

kinda odd to ask. but is there a virus protection apk that can be used with rooted phones that wont freak out and say "hey dumbass your rooted everything is a damn virus"
I use Lookout just fine and it never says anything is malicious. What is it that your phone thinks is a virus? Being rooted does not make a virus protection program think you're infected. You're just turning the protection of not being able to modify your phone off for personal use.
well ive tried a couple. but i did avg. that found like 300. even after a fresh install.
Why would one need a virus program on a phone? Lol are you downloading porn torrents from your phone. Those virus apps are a joke. Can you explain to me why I would need one? I'm not being a smart ass I really want to know why. Seriously.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
Mobile lookout is one that, to my surprise, actually works. It blocks the rage exploit which is what those malware apps were reported to use. It also blocks attempts to root since the same thing is used for that.

It may not be foolproof then, but I've had a few people in the past couple of weeks tell me it prevented rage from working.

Getting spam messages

Anyone lately getting spam text messages? I've been getting some that tell me to go online or reply to subscribe. Without me doing anything, I immediately get another confirming my subscription. This is driving me nuts. I think it might be an app but I have not installed/bought anything new in a couple of days. The only coincidence is that it started when I flashed ginger snap. I'm not saying that it is causing it but i'm out of ideas.
Anyone else experiencing this?

its definitely coming from a app. more than likely a free music downloader or something like that. they are paying for that free stuff somehow...lol
I never trust free stuff. The last apps I installed were toki Tori and tiny tower. But I installed those last week. I just started getting these spam messages yesterday.

Addicted to my phone

I'm completely addicted to my phone, like most people on XDA, I mean I m on it 24/7 as soon as I wake up, and no for phone call or text (it actually bothers me) Idk what to do, flashing roms, kernels, checking for updates, does anyone feel the same, that's one the reason I had an iPhone I was limited to what could I do on it, was going more to the gym and what not, I know I can limit myself but is hard, anyone else wants to admit they are too? Anything that you have done to get away with it? And has it work?
I get emails and there not even important, going back 4 years ago is when started, getting the evo a few years back made it worse, I could actually watch hd youtube on it and stop using the computer less and less, where I work I'm the GM and I could check my phone whenever I want and that's bad, I mean looking at might stats I could spent up to 6 hours with my screen on, now it feel like a job to check my phone then anything else, you see xda members asking for the next update or when cyanogen is releasing his work on XDA, is crazy to admitted but truth at the same time, even think of unrooting my phone sometimes and I can't just give it up, anyways guys I just want to see how many people feel the same way, thank you for reading
Thanks for the responses xda members

I am completely addicted as well...my girl hates my phone!! I am constantly doing something with it. Always on here...hoping for new updates from the devs here...new kernels, themes, whatever. I love my phone...this is also the first one I have rooted...which has made my phone obsession even more intense.

Yeah my wife hates my phone too, before she though I was texting another girl or something, now she knows about rooting and all the time I'm on recovery mode she ask me"what are you doing to your phone again", really trying to stop tho

I'm on mine all day too. I have music playing on it though and browsing. I hate flashing phones now though as the hd2 burned me out.
Hello my name is JayVee and I am also addicted to my phone. I have not gotten rid of that just new feeling you get with a gadget. There's no slowing down with this one. I listen to music, browse the Web, watch YouTube vids, and play games on this thing all day. I even refresh my twitter feeds 1000x per day on here. I use it more than my 2 computers. The first thing I do when I wake up is say good morning to my phone to wake it up and it feels so sweet when it listens. Makes me smile. My friends now call me antisocial because I'm on my phone more than I talk to them when we hang out. Idc tho.

Funny. Not because the addiction but because after they showed it was Windows phone, people seemed to not care as much..
So my name is Joseph and I am also an addict lol. Thanks for your honesty. I started with an HD2. I didn't even know about rooting or flashing and thought Winmo 6.5 was great lol. Then my buddy Wilfred turned me to the XDA site and it's been full on every since. My wife and I have always had the same phone HD2 and now Galaxy SII. When I wasn't fooling around with mine I was trying to doctor up her phone. I can't tell you how many times I have been up all night trying to fix something I broke on her HD2. oops lol. She would get so mad because I would accidentally erase all her apps and have to start over. ( During my noob phase ) But the only thing to do is sometimes just TURN IT OFF! I can hardly do it but sometimes thats the only way. I will leave it upstairs while we hang out downstairs so she does't get mad. I just got a great deal on the SSGSII and now I wish I had've waited on the SIII. lol. Oh well. :silly:
ADDICTED! you bet, I do my HTC-Hd2, mytouch4g, SamNote i717, and this one. Checking for anything to do on any of them, lucky for me the wife is all into it with, also a manager, so I am on them all day also...it's a DRUG...hehe

Info from Lookout Mobile Security...:
Dear Sirshank,
I'm sorry for the confusion. Our latest set of malware detection signatures went out to our users today. Unfortunately it misidentifies the app "Fandango" as the malware. If you've received this warning please ignore it - we are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
Thanks for using Lookout!
Kingston,

So I guess it was indeed a false positive... Good thing I decided to ignore and not delete the app..!

I'm with you.. Android really has nothing to worry, nor really does windows unless you're one of those types of people that always goes on random sites and installs everything.. Truthfully if you have to worry about anything its going to be spyware.. Everything else is so slow and dumb founded to get that anyone with half a brain about PCs shouldn't get a virus.. Of course I do have one installed on my PC.. BC of my wife lol..
Exactly. As far as I'm concerned when it comes to android the only thing you really need to worry about is installing warez.

Not for me

Its sucks as much as I thought it would.
I don't like it.
The only thing that is actually good is the chat heads and the way it can be your text app. multi tasking with texting. Like texting with your girl while you use another app to find a place for dinner without having to back out of either.
Fortunately you dont have to have FB home for this functionality and only need to install FB messenger and update the fb app...
Ya I'm right there with you guys, Facebook Home is not simple and is pretty dang ugly, I think Facebook wasted their time on this when they could just make the android app much for stable

Ok so I tried this out with an open mind. I installed before I went to work today and played with it for about 2 minutes and headed to the sweat shop. 3 hours later I am on my lunch break and pull out my phone to find my battery at 68 percent. It was at 100 when I left the house and I haven't touched it since I got here. Uninstalled. That battery drain is a killer for me.

Anything dealing with Spacebook is downright idiotic. It's great not having Facebook.

I've been running it since launch and i havent noticed much excessive battery loss. But im thinking of getting rid of home and just leaving the chat heads primarily because it isn't a seat to operate as I thought it would be.
