Facebook Home is now live in the Google Play Store.
Let's see what people think about this concept.

Just got the update here. Though I thought it was being release on the 13th. Haven't played with it much so can't really say much.

The update is separate from the actual launcher replacement:

Not for me
I downloaded Facebook Home from Google Play. Took about 5 minutes to play with it.
I bought my Note II as smartphone not a "Facebook phone". It take over way too much.
I think its ugly as hell

Its sucks as much as I thought it would.
I don't like it.
The only thing that is actually good is the chat heads and the way it can be your text app. multi tasking with texting. Like texting with your girl while you use another app to find a place for dinner without having to back out of either.
Fortunately you dont have to have FB home for this functionality and only need to install FB messenger and update the fb app...
Ya I'm right there with you guys, Facebook Home is not simple and is pretty dang ugly, I think Facebook wasted their time on this when they could just make the android app much for stable

Ok so I tried this out with an open mind. I installed before I went to work today and played with it for about 2 minutes and headed to the sweat shop. 3 hours later I am on my lunch break and pull out my phone to find my battery at 68 percent. It was at 100 when I left the house and I haven't touched it since I got here. Uninstalled. That battery drain is a killer for me.

Facebook home with the device check patched out http://www.modaco.com/topic/361924-facebook-home-download/
ENJOY!!
Anything dealing with Spacebook is downright idiotic. Nothing but trash airing out their dirty laundry, kids being tough guys behind their screens, gold diggers bragging, iphone clowns taking pictures of their food, and Jerry springer guests telling the world about their business. It's great not having Facebook.
Sent from my little Note2
Can't bring myself to download it. It HAS to be a battery hog downloading all of those updates so often. Seems like something that Facebook fans would love but techies hate
Sent from my NOTEworthy smartphone
I hardly use Facebook anymore nowadays, and it seems like my friends are using it a lot less too. Maybe will download it just to check it out.
I've been running it since launch and i havent noticed much excessive battery loss. But im thinking of getting rid of home and just leaving the chat heads primarily because it isn't a seat to operate as I thought it would be.

I'm completely addicted to my phone, like most people on XDA, I mean I m on it 24/7 as soon as I wake up, and no for phone call or text (it actually bothers me) Idk what to do, flashing roms, kernels, checking for updates, does anyone feel the same, that's one the reason I had an iPhone I was limited to what could I do on it, was going more to the gym and what not, I know I can limit myself but is hard, anyone else wants to admit they are too? Anything that you have done to get away with it? And has it work?
I get emails and there not even important, going back 4 years ago is when started, getting the evo a few years back made it worse, I could actually watch hd youtube on it and stop using the computer less and less, where I work I'm the GM and I could check my phone whenever I want and that's bad, I mean looking at might stats I could spent up to 6 hours with my screen on, now it feel like a job to check my phone then anything else, you see xda members asking for the next update or when cyanogen is releasing his work on XDA, is crazy to admitted but truth at the same time, even think of unrooting my phone sometimes and I can't just give it up, anyways guys I just want to see how many people feel the same way, thank you for reading
Thanks for the responses xda members

I am completely addicted as well...my girl hates my phone!! I am constantly doing something with it. Always on here...hoping for new updates from the devs here...new kernels, themes, whatever. I love my phone...this is also the first one I have rooted...which has made my phone obsession even more intense.

Yeah my wife hates my phone too, before she though I was texting another girl or something, now she knows about rooting and all the time I'm on recovery mode she ask me"what are you doing to your phone again", really trying to stop tho

I'm on mine all day too. I have music playing on it though and browsing. I hate flashing phones now though as the hd2 burned me out.
Hello my name is JayVee and I am also addicted to my phone. I have not gotten rid of that just new feeling you get with a gadget. There's no slowing down with this one. I listen to music, browse the Web, watch YouTube vids, and play games on this thing all day. I even refresh my twitter feeds 1000x per day on here. I use it more than my 2 computers. The first thing I do when I wake up is say good morning to my phone to wake it up and it feels so sweet when it listens. Makes me smile. My friends now call me antisocial because I'm on my phone more than I talk to them when we hang out. Idc tho.

Funny. Not because the addiction but because after they showed it was Windows phone, people seemed to not care as much..
So my name is Joseph and I am also an addict lol. Thanks for your honesty. I started with an HD2. I didn't even know about rooting or flashing and thought Winmo 6.5 was great lol. Then my buddy Wilfred turned me to the XDA site and it's been full on every since. My wife and I have always had the same phone HD2 and now Galaxy SII. When I wasn't fooling around with mine I was trying to doctor up her phone. I can't tell you how many times I have been up all night trying to fix something I broke on her HD2. oops lol. She would get so mad because I would accidentally erase all her apps and have to start over. ( During my noob phase ) But the only thing to do is sometimes just TURN IT OFF! I can hardly do it but sometimes thats the only way. I will leave it upstairs while we hang out downstairs so she does't get mad. I just got a great deal on the SSGSII and now I wish I had've waited on the SIII. lol. Oh well. :silly:
ADDICTED! you bet, I do my HTC-Hd2, mytouch4g, SamNote i717, and this one. Checking for anything to do on any of them, lucky for me the wife is all into it with, also a manager, so I am on them all day also...it's a DRUG...hehe

I been searching for.some time now for any educational apps for my 18 months son with little luck.
Most apps are geared towards older children, not to mention not too many have child lock on them to prevent children from hitting capacitive buttons.Seem like all good children's apps or on ipad/iPhone and I won't to avoid this option if I can help it.
Anyone know of any good apps?
Here are few apps that I have so far that are usefull and not too complicated for children that are 1-3 years old.
1 Toddle Animal Numbers (Probably the best one,its educational and its free)
2 Undersea Adventure for Toddler (Not really educational but a fun and simple game, and its free)
3 Kids Doodle Paint (Best thing about this is that it has child's lock built in,so you can go to sleep while they draw and not have to worry about them turning it off, this one is free too)
And that's about it,yeah I know that's a damn shame.Rest that I tried is to complex.
The sprout app is a good app i use

Apps by intellijoy.
Also, there are lots of interactive books by people like "Oceanhouse media" (the book reads and the child interacts with the page.)
This is a good thread, I have an app called "kid mode" that has a lot of stuff in it, my 18 mo old daughter likes it.

They are toddlers...
They can take your iPad, S3 or whatever you have before you blink. So its better find them with the phone in theirs hands than see your gadgets on the toilet or trash can because they got bored.
Thats why also I have a Otter Defender.

If I had kids I would. Getting them a grasp of new things at an early age is important and most useful for the future. Smartphones are only materialistic items so I wouldn't care really unless they're looking at things they aren't supposed too.

When my daughter was 18 months old she liked learning animal sounds, She particularly liked the cat on this one Toddler Animal Sounds by Bluphant Games, They also do a paid for version which has a child lock built in it.
Now she's 3 however it's Peppa Pig all the way!
How many people think they are too addicted to their phones? Everywhere I go, Im always on my phone, not just talking to someone. I mean using the phone for anything. Im using the phone while walking, driving, shopping, watching a movie at a theatre, eating, standing in line, waiting at the airport, gym, etc. People have told me to get off the phone so I need C.A. classes which stands for Cellphone Anonymous. Thats how bad my addiction is. Lol. Im always checking xda, androidcentral, weather, phonescoop. I know how to use a wireless PS3 CONTROLLER to play all of the emulator games such as nes, snes, genesis, gameboy, turbo grafx 16, n64, neo geo, and soon gba games. Lets hear from others.....
Imagine I get the Galaxy Note 2, it will be even worse. I couldnt be without my phone for more than 10 min. Think about it unlimited 4g fast internet with tmobile wherever I go.
The only place I try super hard not to be on my phone is at church on Sunday morning.

Try some activities which you intentionally have to leave your phone at home, like playing soccer, basketball, etc.

Have you ever tried it long enough to become familiar with it? I'm definitely not asking you that to attack you over your opinion or anything (because you're definitely entitled to your own opinion), I was just wondering because I effin love Next Launcher. I don't just like it because it looks really cool though (it's just an awesome bonus lol) because I could care less about showing off my phone, I actually like it because of all the added functionality it provides on top of giving you the ability to fine tune everything the way you like, and call me crazy but I honestly think it's even worth it for the original price.
