So ,on top of the dust particle that stuck under the glass on the navigation bar, Few days a go I noticed a small red mark on my nexus 7's screen , when I was looking for light bleeds . its visible only on black backgrounds and as higher the backlight levels the more visible it is , I am sure it wasn't there before , and i didn't drop it or hit it with anything . is anyone experienced this on his device?
I am really thinking about RMA again (first time they didn't see any deadpixels/dust so i don't sure they will this time).
Btw , did anyone notice that there is little flex to the device ?
Where is this flex you speak of? Mine has no flex anywhere but I may not be looking in the same spot.

You guys are crazy.
Buy a budget device and look for premium, Apple-ish perfection...
A budget device has always little flaws and no 100% QC. Get over it.
*shaking head*
It doesn't matter if you pay 200$ or 2000$, you should get a working devices , with no problems .
Yeah, it would be possible - but no Android user would buy these devices, because they would either be expensive (like Apple devices) or have lame specs.
So the manufacturers make compromises in order to get marketable specs for low price.

Hello, guys, I heard that there were a lot of technical problems with desire:
build quality and pinkish display. Do you have problems with back cover?
Or any other problems? Maybe scratched screen? Please tell us something about your experiance I just had already 2 phones, which back cover (I mean the thing that covers battery, not sure how it is called in english) just dropped out easily... don't want to repeat such hell with HTC Desire...
p.s. sorry for my english
I have just sold my HTC hd2 to get this and all I can say is **** winmo, I love tech, I'm an it engineer by trade and can say without a doubt this phone is the best XD. well done HTC, their are a few minor flaws but in my opinion no deal breakers.
I would highly recommend this phone .
Sent from my HTC Desire using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
I have no troubles with backcover, the screen isn't scratched (but I treated it very gently, with pouch and everything). The pinkish aura is clearly visible when the screen is dimmed after not using phone for a some time, but in normal use it's barely there. I'd never know about this if I hadn't read this forum. I have no complains about Desire, it's great
would you advise to buy a case for desire?
or it's ok just in a pocket of jeans?
and what about this photo? http://robbiekhan.co.uk/root/photos/stuff-room/htc_desire_Red-Desire.jpg
would it be reasonable to look for the device that look like this desire on the left, than on the right?
so I can just go to the shop, lower the light brightness and check if it is like on the right or on the left?
i have mine in a nexus gel case with a screen protector in my jeans every day, no problems.
i put it in a pouch with the gel case and screen protector when its being slung about in a bag.
i would even bother checking the pink screen thing, unless you plan on having it on minimum brightness all the time. move the slider about the width of the slider bar and you wont be able to see it. (mine isnt as bad as that pic though, maybe 2 slider bar widths if you have one like that, lol)
Build quality is fine. What do people do with this phone anyway: use it as a bat?
Pinkish is something that appears with certain grey screens. For the rest, white remains white. It's not that much of an issue.
More relevant issues are:
*no divx support (but H.264 will do fine)
*various issues with contacts/synchronisation (see the relevant topics)
*Android Bluetooh stack is still in infancy
Conclusion: what technical issues?
Mine One X got a little scratch on screen, so I can't return it. I probably have a Sharp panel, since my screen has a pronounced yellowish tone, that I can't get out of my mind.
I know it's probably a stupid idea, since my screen - besides the warm tone - has nothing wrong with it, but if I went to a HTC repair center and asked for a screen replacement (an Acer screen), how much do you think it would cost me?
Given you would need to replace screen + glass (it's stuck together) you're probably looking at $200+. Not worth it IMO just to get rid of the yellowing.
M.
Doubt they'll even have much in terms of spares at the moment. Somebody else tried to get their One X fixed and they were told that pretty much everything is devoted to manufacturing still.
Hello , so I bought today a new Nexus 7 32GB Wifi Only , after i played with it a bit i decided to check for dead pixels , and have found one , its located on the navigation bar , so when in portrait you can't see it , but in landscape you do notice it right next to the edge of the screen .
Now i am not sure what to do , even if I am able to get a replacement unit nobody can guaranty that it will be perfect , for all I know I can get a device with a dead pixel in the middle of the screen and not on the side where its less noticeable ..
Does any one have a word of advice? I have read about a lot of people replacing nexus's one by one and still can't get a "perfect' device.
BTW, its even manufactured in September , so its not some old defective butch i guess .

If it doesn't have light bleed or any other issues, my advice is don't replace it.
My 1st Nexus 7 2013 32GB had 1 dead pixel near the side. After advice from this forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2387900) I replaced it, again and again. I'm on my 5th unit now, and two months wasted, I have still not seen a perfect unit. Infact my current unit has a dead pixel and major light bleed (none of the other units had light bleed). Now, the store won't accept my returns and I'm stuck with it. I WISH I kept the 1st nexus, had 2 extra months enjoying it, instead of repeated re-visits to the store, waiting for more stock, and discovering it's worse than before.
I think the vast majority of people who have said their unit is perfect are simply unable to notice a dead pixel (they are tiny). I've been through 5 and they all suffered from dead pixels. Unlucky or not, 5 out of 5 with bad pixels is terrible statistics. My guess is 1 out of 10 is perfect.
Its really sucks ... The pixels are so small but yet in landscape you do notice it on backgrounds like white and light gray ... When portrait the navigation bar covers it so its not that bad I guess ...
The delivery guy should come tomorrow afternoon so maybe I will call in the morning to cancel , and just stay with my current device ..

Up to you, many people are saying their unit is perfect, so maybe I just have terrible luck. I tell ya, you won't be happy if you get one that suffers from light bleed.
I'd return this again if I could, but Future Shop has basically told me to jump in a lake after I returned so many units for dead pixels.
The sad thing that this are latest batches , new stock that came to the store just yesterday .. I would get if there was poor q/c on the first units , but things like that should be fixed within weeks , poor q/c after 4 months of production is a complete joke ...
To be honest this is my first Asus product , when I buy computer parts I always go for Gigabyte and others , Asus products are always overpriced , which is funny as their q/c is so bad .
@Overon
I felt that the black dot was on top of the screen and not part of the screen, so i turned on the flashlight on my phone ,looked at the display when off and its a dark particle between the display and glass , now i think i will just keep it and live with this dust under the glass .
I am sure its better then having a real hardware problem.. annoying yes, but as you can relate - could be much worse.
Well, I got my Nexus 7 back .. the said they didn't found anything with it , so the only factory restored it and send me back ..when I turned it on I saw that they didn't restore it at all, interesting thing i notice a minor light bleed on the top and bottom of the screen , which i don't remember being there before...
Today i noticed a red small red spot on a black background ... so ASUS what's next with your quality ?
I have had my p2 for about 3 weeks and was quite happy until now.
just out of nowhere i noticed on the bottom right corner of my front display panel that there is a crack.
i investigated around the corners and found that everything else is basically like new, no bump, dent scratch whatsoever, i am also protecting the phone quite much and haven't had any sort of "accident"
there's at least one user in another forum who reports his phone has gotten a cracked display because of sunlight / heat issues, while the weather gets better it hasn't been exposed to any extraordinary direct sunlight, so i am really bothered if this is caused by manfacture / quality issues and i am looking to resolve it with amazon where i got it.
other than that it's fully functional and i am super annoyed to go though the process of getting things worked out / fixed / replaced / returned....
german forum with another guy who has even servere cracked screen due to as he claim temperature differences
https://www.computerbase.de/forum/showthread.php?t=1670399
anyone knows something?
well this is a bit worrying ill try to keep mine out of the direct sun thanks.
I had a nightmare last night that I picked my phone up and the whole screen was completely shattered!
p2 is already on it's way for customer service from amazon, will see what they will do.
I wonder how widespread this problem is. I just ordered a P2 myself & this has me a bit worried. I am dealing with touchscreen issues on my current phone, a Sony Xperia Z3 Compact. The upper part of the touchscreen doesn't work at all and the back/home buttons only work if I put the phone in glove mode and press several times. I didn't want to spend a bunch of money on a new phone and the battery life impressed me on the P2. .
Haven't had any issues with my device since purchasing it a month ago.. Would never put any device in direct sunlight no matter which device. Especially if a device has glass on one or both sides. Saw a bend test and this device is really really tough to damage. Plus this device does not heat up since its 10nm Snapdragon Chipset makes it so. If this phone is defective.. then should the P1 and any phone that has all glass or the 2.5 glass shape form. So any one with that problem should contact the proper place where they purchased the device or the Lenovo manufacturer. Only suggestion is to purchase the 'shockproof case' to prevent any stress on the phones surface.
Had an Xperia Z ways back and the power button stopped working.. but it was due to water damage.. even though it is mostly waterproof.. Xperia phones are tough phones too.. and it has glass on both sides.
Worrying indeed, let us know what support says.
I must say the screen on mine has the occasional sensitiviy issue in the bottom part. Not sure if it's due to the "removable" navigation buttons or to the "hardness" of the glass, but it was definitely not like that on my Moto G4.
Also it seems some earlier P2 models had a bottom part that was "sloping" ?

sunlight yea,... i am also not doing that, but for example when i were to use my other phone ( which was about to be replaced with p2 ) in situations like car gps navigation it's facing heavy usage AND is explosed to direct sunlight ( at least the back-side it is ) which makes my phone (honor 7 right now) pretty hot ... and this is just a very normal use case scenario... since the p2 is already received by amazon i cannot try out to see if there is any heat issues like that...

i haven't gotten any email from amazon however in my p2 order it says the device has been received and it'll take 2-3 days until they charge back money. i assume that will happen and i will report back. but there hasn't been any communication on their side.

Yeah sunlight heat is not a devices friend and it can damage for sure if the requirement is met since heat expands. You should be fine, returns take a bit and the return transaction.
doesn't give a p2 back unfortunatly ... well to be honest i had the option to select replacement. but well. this is the very first device i had an display issue so that's that.
on the other hand i was reaaaallly reallly disappointed to see the ultra battery mode switch not being usuable as it disabled accessable app settings (tasker greenify etc pp) and those 14 days unlock being a pain... and no active development for a device "this new" .... being a phone for 230 € new on that deal it was a real bombshell
never say never that's it for the p2 for now, receiving a xiaomi note 4 very soon and will see how that performs

Understandable, am still on Stock Nougat for now. Good luck with the Xiaomi.
I'm just curious but was the phone charging when the crack became apparent?
Just want to check with other user on whether your unit have a bleeding at bottom chin and side bezel. It's visible with grey background colour. Bottom chin will bright more with white colour. The bleeding/bright light at bottom does not appear at lowest or highest brightness. I'm quite reluctant to return it as there is not much complain on this and whether this is actually normal.
On my 2+ yr old Samsung S9... the cables and maybe (hope not, but...) the USB-C plug are getting loose. If it's plugged in to connect or to charge, I often have to move it around and wedge it against something to keep the connection cable. After doing that more over the last 10 months or so, a roundish "glow" developed on my screen - half fuzzy circle around the USB-C jack/plugin. It doesn't always show, maybe because of color - it's always a light greenish.
I don't believe your phone's screen's behavior is normal, and if it is, you should keep taking it back until you get one that's not normal and actually works right. It's not working properly, and if you got it recently... personally, I'd take it back. Despite the hassle.
(some stores MUCH worse than others - paid over $320 cash up front for a 3 year warranty at Worst Buy.. they said if it breaks, if I even Lose it, anything, bring it in, and get a new one) couple months later it wasn't charging and acting bad enough to be unusable. Brought it in... Sorry, you don't have $100 in the account you bought it with, so we can't help you! Geek Squad? Moron Squad? Bold faced lying salesmen.. rediculous. Best buy scam, got $300+ out of me for Nothing!

Yes there is about 3mm of bleed from the bottom of the phone (I believe it's normal). Are you able to send a picture with the grey background in a dark room?
Do you have the 10t or 10t pro?
