I tried GPRS , HSDPA whatever,
it just show the attached screen.
any idea?
I get the same on 3-UK. Reception is fine as well. Think my network may block it as they want you to use their own version of MSN (not compatible with the TyTN). Works fine on wifi though.
S.K.
I am using 3-HK, I tried once success to be connected.
but after that, never connect success anymore.
EDITed: Wifi is the same result :-(
The same happens in Yoigo (Spain)
I have the same problem, my 3G provider (Yoigo) has a proxy and use an MTU value = 472 (that is not the 1500 by default). I'm trying to change this value because people says Live works fine changing it.
Try to change MTU (diferents values for your ISP) if you know an utility that do this easily please share it.
Thanks
I have no idea about which registry is MTU appear.
Is there any tools or name that I can search?
Thanks
is this location ?
HKLM\Comm\Cellular Line\Parms\tcpip
if yes, still cannot connect......
Can anyone post the
HKLM\Services\Windows Live\Platform\Passport
Policy key value?
it seems this have problem
Thanks
So when you activate a new phone you have to do all the *228 stuff to register it on verizons network. Since the phone gets programmed OTA you have to be using a Verizon network. Thats where my first problem happened. Since I'm in Alaska and there are no Verizon towers (just partners) everywhere is roaming and you cannot do the OTA update/activation.
I got the phone programmed by changing the NAM settings by "calling" ##778 but only voice and sms work right now.
Now the only problem is that I don't know exactly what I need to change to get the data communications working. I know in order to use data communication on a partner network (while in roaming) you have to first use some kind of data transfer on a verizon network. I can only guess that is so the phone gets programmed properly.
If anyone would care to share their knowledge or share their Modem Settings and M.IP profile information hopefully I can get this thing working 100% again; and by not using verizon's "only" method (as the customer service says)
Call back VZW and tell them that you need to do a manual program - I used to work there and they should walk you through all of the steps/entry over the phone.

I appreciate the insight espmetalhead, however when I called vzw and asked them about manually programming it they said the only thing they can manually program is voice/sms. To program the phone for data you HAVE to be in a verizon network no matter what. I don't really understand why. I have another phone (blackberry 8330) that has working data communication here in alaska. WHy can't you just take whatever settings the blackberry has for data and use it on the incredible? lol. man, its so frustrating. I really don't want to ship my phone to my parents and walk them through programming the incredible for me haha.
espmetalhead: hopefully in your experience you've came across a way to manually program a phone for data communication...
There is a way to do it from what I remember, you just have to get to a data tech this is high enough in the chain so they can do a walk through. A csr over the phone should be able to route you to the right person. I know I did some Windows Mobile device manual programs that fired up data.

Unfortunately, you have to be in the Vz network to program for data. They use an authentication key that can only be transmitted OTA through their own network for data services. It's a CDMA thing, so there's really no way around it.
so why isn't it possible to just read the key to me over the phone or something?
Idk, it just doesn't seem right. It seems like that has to be a way to do it manually...
Maybe I'm just in denial because I really don't want to send it back to the lower 48
Manually Programming for Data
Does anyone know how to program the Incredible to get data? For some reason after updating to 2.3.4 it just quick making calls and getting onto mobile networks. I solved the making calls issue by manually programming it through ##778. But now I'm without data, so does anyone have any ideas on how to get this accomplished? Any help would be great! Thanks!

As a matter of interest :
1) Should I be disconnected from the net when I do this ?
2) Should I be taking the GSM-Card out of the phone when doing this
3) If I do a hard-reset now, and being asked x-cancel 0-hard-reset, what would be the result ?
4) Are there any other reasons for the device not being recognized, or not for soo long ?
PS. I am using the internet through a router/firewall and I am not using the XP-firewall.

So I've read all of the claims that the EVO simply won't work if you're in an AWS market. Fine, no problem. Somehow i've managed to get it to work for me though! Well, talk and text on the android plan anyway. I still can't seem to get data working though :/ I was wondering if anyone could help me with this.
I started out with myn-WarmTwoPointTwo--RLS-4-Cricket-Zmod played around with settings for about 4 days and finally managed to get talk and text working. However, my "4G" radio would only take me to a webpage that asks me to sign up for clear internet service when I opened the web browser(Hmm i wonder what would happen if i signed in with my clear account, I'll try that in a moment).
Someone mentioned I go for JimminyV's cricket ROM. So i gave that a try and there didn't seem to be any difference at all, but i couldn't get a mobile network connection, so i'm thinking this ROM won't do the trick for me, I went back to twoPointTwo.
I've taken bits from all kinds of tutorials, including JImminyV's ROM post:

The Zmods:

Hmm after messing around with JimminyV's ROM, I can't seem to connect to clear's sign in prompt anymore :/
Other Common problems:
I keep getting error code 65, which with a little googling, means that there's an authentication issue, somewhere :/
[EDIT] I forgot to mention that ##778# and *228 don't work, and if i use *22804, I'll usually connect to Verizon Wireless' configuration menu [/EDIT]
I've tried to be as thorough as i could be. Please let me know if you have any questions for me and if you can help, THANKS!!!
I guess I can post this over at CDMAgurus too, but just wanted you to know, that i was able to log into clear with my account lol(i'd better check if i've been charged, or the lol will be on me.
Hey here, yes here, this is why:....
HEY HERE, YES HERE, THIS IS WHY:....
The reason as to why you only get talk/text on cricket with a dual band phone on a tri-band area/AWS is the following:
Your plan has a national access/roaming (talk/text), meaning that everywhere you go, you will be able to get AT LEAST talk and text. On the regular cricket network, you get EVERYTHING.
Your phone is actually connected to sprints tower because sprint is the roaming partner with cricket. the agreement DOES NOT allows data usage, only talk/text ( i will assume because talk/text does not takes as much bandwidth as data does)
So, to sum-up:
ANY DUAL-BAND PHONE on a AWS market will be on a "Roaming Partner Network"
This is because you are using SPRINTS network (or any other romaing partner network), and the agreement only lets you use talk/text.
HOWEVER, if you take your phone where cricket offers a native DUAL BAND (800/1900) frequency, you will have data working.
Numerous people are sadly mistaken when it comes they're understanding of the Cricket EVO's functionality in triband areas. They have been lead to believe that it's impossible to get it to work or to get all of its features working, but this is about as far from the truth as it gets. People are quick to rely on information which they haven't actually tested themselves. They're like the folks in Columbus's day who didn't believe that the earth is round, but here are the facts...I live in Chicago, which is a triband area, and have been using a fully flashed Cricket EVO for quite some time now with out a single problem whatsoever. Everyone one of my features work perfectly fine, and my network is NOT roaming. Looks like Cricket EVOs work in triband areas afterall!
yeah you're not the first person to say that, but no one's been able to prove it. or show how to do it.

Last i checked(for weeks) It couldn't be done on cricket. I've had voice but had to use clear for data.
so yyeah i've searched all EVO forums for Cricket and Triband and there's no thread that posts a solution, there are only 3 threads as a matter of fact.
So which thread were you talking about?
bumping this one, willing to donate to a dev of your choice if someone can help me get this EVO working in st. louis. i understand the AWS issues, but i think as a lot have said, that its possible in AWS markets. im willing to try anything. internet works great here with full 3g, just no getting cricket programming when *228, and *22804 does nothing but sit and then hand up. 611 says your account can not be validated.
So i was wondering do i need the dsa server url to the carrier im using for the internet to fully work on my phone? I have just about all the settings in my data profile and advanced profile set to revol except the dsa server url, which i havent been able to find anywhere online and the rtsp proxy port, http pd proxy port, rtsp proxy address and http pd proxy address. Are these settings necessary to change the get the internet fully working on my Evo?
Also i was wondering is my internet almost working bcuz i got my MMS to work but i still cant use the web browser or market... i have a little 3g sign at the top of my screen when i turn mobile network on
I used QPST TO change most of the settings and after the phone rebooted the first time it showed the 3g sign which it didnt show before but yet i still cant access the internet
Does anyone know? I've been trying to find out myself but all i keep getting back to is the same questions which were never answered.

Lol I love responding to ancient questions. Sadly I do not have a direct/technical answer, but I can tell you that if I flash and my phone is refusing to "activate" I do a reset to "DSA" using service codes and it then allows me to activate and use 3g.
Good Morning.
(Really) Hoping I can get some help here and this doesn't wind up another dead-end thread that people look at once and pass on...
I am attempting to attach this phone to a lab setup using my own WiMAX base station.. The rub is my Radius is configured to do TTLS authentication. The default WiMAX setting in the phone is TLS and it does not appear to be edit-able even after entering the MSL.
Is there a hidden menu where I can change the device to allow TTLS vs. TLS.. Or alternatively, where can I overwrite the default x.509 cert with my own x.509 client cert so I can perform TLS authentication against my own AAA?
My other option is using the Motorola Photon Q, but again I'm running into the same issue on that phone, Locked to TLS with no option to edit...
Thanks,
-Adam

Anyone? Anyone at all?
To get to the Menu you want go to the Dial pad, and type ##3282# . It will ask you EDIT, or View. You want EDIT. It will then prompt you for your MSL. It's a six digit Password. Enter the Password. Then choose WIMAX. The settings to Enable, or Disable TTLS / TLS are there. If you do not have your MSL, you can download MSL Reader from the Play Store.
