[Q] How to get bricked kindle fire recognized on computer? - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As of now, I'm trying to unbrick my kindle fire 1st generation, but my computer isn't recognizing it as ADB, only as Android, is there anyway to get it recognized as ADB so I can install twrp and flash a rom?

Try updating the driver in driver settings. That was the problem with my PC once. I just updated and ADB was recognized

Nope, but thank you anyway, the problem is that my kindle fire has no os and it's just stuck at the stock boot up screen without any recovery...

You need a Fastboot cable/adapter/etc.
You can make one yourself by soldering 4th contact/the one with the missing spot to the 1st contact (red wire/power wire).
And then you can use whatever to recover.
AND make sure you use Kindle Fire FIRST GENERATION SOFTWARE. OTHERWISE YOU WILL BRICK AGAIN, AND THEN, COMES JTAG.

[Q] KFU Root "failed" --> Now how to unroot the device? (read)

I wanted to root my kindle fire so i followed the instructions in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399889
(Kindle Fire utilities)
The procedure worked perfectly but...several apps tells me that the device is not rooted and the file system is read only.
I downloaded OTA rootkeper and that's what I see:

}
The device is rooted but I don't have any permission?
So I wanted to root because I wanted the Google Play marketplace and the tool has failed because I see every google app but the marketplace (yes I'm using a custom launcher).
Now I want to UNroot, just turn to the out-of-the-box defaults and be able to view my amazon prime videos.
I used the adb method to unroot the device from the windows command prompt but it says that I can't make any changes, again, because I have no permission (read only).
Can you please help me to get rid of this?
Thanks
The only way to 'unroot' that I know of is reflashing the stock software from amazon... get TWRP on it and try that.

From the way you explain, I'm sure that your KF is rooted but Superuser is not is *not* install. So just install it.
adb install Superuser.apk
To unroot, remove Superuser, remove /system/xbin/su, and rename /system/bin/check_rooted.bak to check_rooted

USB issues and other fun.

Today I flashed twa priv's 0319 release. Later I tried to transfer files to my computer. With the new adb prompt on the kindle I selected connect always. I just reinstalled drivers through kfu 9.8+. With just regular USB storage mounting/transfer, I want able to access SD content, but I had two adb composites in device manager. When I selected mtp I only saw about 5 different folders: .android, documents, images and a couple others. Is this a ROM problem or a computer problem?

That's normal for MTP
Another thing is RAM. I found only a few prices but a bunch of ram was being eaten up. Here are some pics

Try this. I have used it for months now and never needed the USB cable.

[Q] Demo mode Kindle Fire, trying to restore to original

Hi,
I recently acquired a Kindle Fire that was previously used as a Demo unit in a store, I'd like to get it out of Demo mode but having tried since Sunday (and following several threads on here with similar problems) with no success I thought I'd see if I can get any help.
This is my first Kindle, so I'm new to that, but I've owned several Android devices in the past, so I'd consider myself fairly familiar with ADB, Fastboot, etc.
Since I can't get into the settings on the Demo unit I haven't been able to enable USB Debugging, to cut a long story short after playing around all day Sunday trying to get KFU to communicate with the device I gave up and ordered a Factory USB Cable to get it into Fastboot mode.
That arrived This morning and the Kindle is now in Fastboot mode, but I'm not sure what to do next, the PC (Windows 8 64bit, but I've also tried on Vista 32bit) sees the device as: Otter2-Prod-04 with a yellow exclamation mark icon and KFU still doesn't seem to be able to communicate with the device.
I'm running out of ideas, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jason
Never mind, I got KFU to recognise the device finally but I think it's bricked it, it's just black now with no light on the power button or anything.
I don't suppose there's any way to fix that?

I got plugged the factory cable in and the screen diaplayed "fastboot kindle fire" as expected . However, when I used this tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1951254 the newest one (KFHD_SRT_v1.3.5- 7.3.0 (seperate option for restoring factory recovery) )
the tool only displayed waiting for the devices , also I chose the first and third option, same thing happed help me guys.
I'm guessing your fastboot drivers aren't installed, look for a device with an yellow triangle in the device manager probably called tate , might say jem or otter2, and tell it to update drivers and point it to where you would have downloaded and extracted the drivers in my signature.

Oh thank you for replying. I got everything fixed. However, I want to flash CM11 on it. I have TWRP 2.6.3.1 and the ROM in the internal storage. I followed the instruction: install newest custom recovery, factory reset and flash the rom. TWRP fail at the flashing rom part. it said something about blaze tablet and otter2 I don't know. Can you help me.
You tried to flash a kf2 ROM on a kindle fire HD 7", they aren't compatible. You need to download the correct ROM in the 7" HD development section.

Stuck on KindleFire orange logo.. can go to fastboot mode

Hi, I am reading whole day forum, but cannot find the solution, please help me guys.
My story:
I was made succesfull root, than i putted TWRP recovery, made a backup, and full wipe, than i realize, that i forgot to load CM11 rom... So i restarted device, enter TWRP, and make a restore of backup...
After that, there was no KindleFire blue logo...
After reboot, the device just show static orange kindlefire logo...and that is all.
Only thing I can do - is to enter * using CMD line * to the fastboot mode.
Now i am trying to restore kindle using KFFirstaide - but i get errors because of that there is no files to download from dropbox...

also tried SRT ( I am confused, which is the best/last version of this software ?) , and it looks like it works, something was loaded, but after that, still have static logo, nothing more..
Is there any hope ?
HELP
ok, finally
i manage to push system, recovery and reboot via KFHD System.img Recovery Tool
I run the device with 8.4.1, and i manage to check , that device is still rooted ( via rootchecker ).
After that, i try to again push the twrp into the kindle, doing as it was last time, by the fire flash, but after that - i had no TWRP, and again - I stuck on the kindle fire logo...
What is wrong ?
I'm guessing you forgot to check something off in fireflash like apply stack override.
