I recently purchased an HTC One from VZW, achieved S-Off and root and am running BoneStock v1.1. I decided to try BlinkFeed, but when I go to the Services & Apps page to add my Facebook & Twitter accounts, they don't show up. I've got both apps installed on my phone with the accounts added to those apps, but all I get for App choices are Calendar, Gallery & TV and I don't get any Services choices. Is this something anyone else has encountered, a problem with the ROM or just me being an idiot? Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I'd like to fully try BlinkFeed out and see if it's something worth using. Thanks!

Did you reboot after turning on blinkfeed? Also you should post this in the rom thread you will get more help from the DEV there.
But try rebooting if you haven't.
Since he removed it from the launcher there may be some quirks.
Did you make sure Twitter for sense and facebook for sense were also installed?

Does anyone use this app? I've installed it out of curiosity and found TONS of apps that start after boot. Will pruning down this list speed up my phone at all?
I've disabled some of the apps I never use such as Mail, FM Radio, Facebook for HTC Sense, Flickr, etc. Can I go further and disable apps I DO usem but stop them starting on their own?
Some of the ones I'm thinking of are Peep, FaBook Chat, HTC Widget Downloader.
And what's Open Sense Plugin Manager?
Can I disable Bug Report? Is Rosie Utility needed since I run ADW Launcher?
Updater? DRM Protected Content Storage? Media Storage? HTC Message Uploader?
Finally, am I wasting my time with all this?!!
Why not just test it out? Try removing a few apps from start up and then reboot the phone.

Because I'm lazy and stupid, and wondered if someone else had done the hard work already, lol!
it wont stop apps starting, just stop them at boot, apps can start themseleves at any time so you will prob see all the apps running after a few mins anyway
Most apps in that list are not infact apps but widgets for apps.
I dissable everything (after boot) that I know I won't be using the widgets for.
I also dissable in "sms recieved" - Messaging, this is because I don't use stock messaging, I use handcent.
Just read all the headings, go down and dissable things you think you will never use in those situations.
If things don't play nice then you can always untick them again.
flashed oxygen rom last night and although its fast there is a distinct lack of features compared to 2.2 sense stock
no google maps or navigation, no youtube and a load of other things
what gives?
They're removed as you can download them yourself from the Market so don't need to be included in the ROM. Simple really
It is meant to be clean, all the stuff you mention you can download from the market. If you can't download it form the market it's probably a sense feature.
And opening a new thread for this makes no sense
can google navigation be downloaded off the market?
with the voice instructions when using gps
It's part of Google Maps, as you can see here:

hmmm i might reflash oxygen this weekend then
only played with it for an hour last night
does anyone know how to do the app cube on oxygen
seen it on youtube when the app drawer was open the user could spin a 3d cube with the apps on each face
how do you do that on oxygen?
Pretty sure it's a different launcher, Oxygen uses Zeam. If you've got a video I'll check it out
ADW Launcher has a 3D cube interface and LauncherPro can enable a 3d effect app drawer as well.

are both those options free? or a paid app on market?
ADW comes in free and paid for versions, with more functions in the paid one
Flashed oxygen too. Syched contacts from gmail, facebook and skype, but they are not linked and I can't find how to link them???

Same problem I have with the rom. its super fast but my contacts are used a lot ( it is a phone right) and not having my contacts sync properly is kind of a deal breaker for me.... That and the whole video thing with the gingerbread series of builds...

I know about that feature but what I'm talking about is the contacts not syncing properly at all with either twitter or, mostly, facebook contacts.

I found that, but it's pain to join hundreds contacts knowing that I had done it before and it should link most of them automatically.
Does all 2.3 roms have this problem?
Contact sync (I assume Facebook pic sync, birthday calendars, events, etc) are part of the stock sense.
You can replace all of them using apps from the market (free and paid ones...depending on what you want)
E.g:
For facebook pic sync you can use SyncMyPic
For birthdays Ebobirthday
Just google how to include the birthday calendar in your google calendar (pretty cool feature of google calendar that I didnt know was there until I played with this)
As a launcher...I use launcherPro (IMHO, the best one on the market after trying pretty much everything out there). Using the paid version to get a pretty cool (better than the sense one) People widget. It also have a "FriendStream" like widget if that is what you want.
Pretty sure Oxygen will be changing the default laucher as Zeam seems to be not longer maintained (which is a shame...it was pretty good)
PS: sorry, I cant post URL until XDA allows me to
The "Cubed" launcher can be found in the app store if you search "Steven Lin"
As an FYI that is the GingerBread [2.3] launcher. its pretty cool

It'll do them automatically if you have the same name saved on your phone as it appears on Facebook. If not, you'll have to manually join them. No way of getting around it
Ive looked all over the net and xda for what this means and what's causing this, but its one of those ask 10 people, get 10 different answer type things. It seems that every sense rom i flash, i end up getting "process com.htc.bgp" has stopped working or something to that effect, then it force closes. Not sure what this is and any help would be nice. Thanks for taking the time to at least read this.

lol...guess that would explain most of it. I do remove a decent amount of apps, guess i shouldnt. Thanks for the speedy response too, Joel.
not sure if this already posted, but wondered if i froze certain apps via titanium backup, would it cause that message to appear also?

yea freezing them is sort of like removing them because HTC no longer reads them as apps
the following i have found to be safe to remove
stocks app and widget
flicker app
twitter app and widget
peep app and widget
facebook app and widget
friendstream app and widgets
I have not recieved that message on the following roms
kingdom all versions
uber shift
redemption rom 2.4
nils business gingersense all
uber kingdom all
my guess on what you cant freeze or remove are:
Mail app
messaging app (i know it sucks compaired to market ones but if you remove it issues arise)
clock app+widget
calander app+widget
htc likes
htc hub
dialer (duh no dialer cant make calls)
sense can be removed but not with titanium backup
people.apk (address book dialer will use this)
So I have a list of applications safe to remove or move:
3G Mobile Hotspot
Amazon MP3
App Sharing
Apps (VCast.apk)
Backup Assistant
Bookmark Widget
Calculator + Widget
Calendar + Widget
Car Panel
City ID
Clock Widget
Flickr
FMRadio + Widget
Footprints + Widget
Friendstream + Widget (If you sync Facebook, Flickr, or Twitter accounts with your phone and remove this, you will get a persistent sync symbol)
Messages Widget
Music + Widget
My Verizon Mobile
News + Widget
PDF Viewer
Peep
Photo Widget
Quickoffice
RSS Reader
Skype
Slacker
Stocks + Widget
Teeter
VCast
Voice Dialer
Visual VM
VZ Navigator
VZW Skype
Weather + Widget
Feel free to tell me of any I missed, or of any corrections, and I will update accordingly. I've made the list with Titanium Backup Users in mind. How you choose to remove or move them is up to you, and this is mainly just to be used as a resource. I will post any side affects from removing certain apps as I learn of them as well.

Backup assistant should be safe to remove, as well as the clock widget.
Pretty much any app that isn't the phone or contacts apk should be safe, too, I think.
(actual apps. Don't delete stuff like CertInstaller.apk or whatever. But if it shows up in your app drawer, it's generally okay to get rid of.)
The only thing I'm not sure about is the visual voicemail. It may act funny with the messages app, since there's a slider for it.
Cdrom.iso really shouldnt be removed. It can cause issues with adb and mounting usb storage. You can dissable the annoying vzw installer by dialing ##program# and hitting call. Enter six zeros for the password. Then go to feature settings and tap on cd rom and dissable it. Hit the menu button and select comit changes. Your phone will reboot and the vzw installer nag wont be there the next time you connect to your pc.

Weird. I removed the cdrom file and I can use adb with no problems. I guess it is one of those works for some and not for others issues.

I always remove ALL of the voice stuff, plus the sound recorder as well. One question I have wondered though is would I be able to remove friendstream before signing into Facebook and avoid the constant sync? Or is there some way around it?

Delete from system/app with root explorer or uninstall/freeze with titanium backup.

Does it matter if I delete them vs. move the APKs to another location? Would I ever need them again for anything?
Well they'll still be taking up space if you move them to another location on the phone, but they wont run or be in your app drawer. If you want to have them just in case, you could always move them to the SD card, then your computer? I can't think of any reason that you'd need them though, even if you wanted them at a later time, you could find them on the market or with a quick googling.
I just back them up and then uninstall them.
I've added Apps (VCast.apk) to the list.
Sent from my Incredible using Tapatalk
You might want to add HtcLoggers.apk to the list, in light of the recently discovered security hole.
DInc with CyanogenMod 6.1 & Invisiblek #28 kernel.
Possible to free a ROM of everything Google? I have read a few articles but nothing really specific. I see Google as intrusive personally.
Edit: To clarify what I mean. Stop all the data mining, tracking, etc. That's pretty much it. I know its a Google is,and as such only so much could be removed but at least it would limit the intrusiveness. Not looking to go stealth, anonymous or some paranoid tin hat sh*t lol. Maybe a safe indy app store or even just side load, no syncing to any of googles crap whatsoever, no anything that allows Google to get my info. I figure my carrier is good enough in that area as far as tracking important data such as location for 911,etc.
If you delete your Google account from your phone, most apps will most likely act up, but that is one way to do it. I haven't tested, but since you brought it up i think I'm gonna give it a go right now
Lol moist..Sounds like a winner to me.
Was thinking of going all apkmania.com lol joke people...maybe juice it up with some yahoo love lol. Never mind..I guess Google just owns me at this point.
Seems like my android phone loves Google
Lol
Apps downloaded from the Google market just don't have good behavior with out being able to synch. I.e. xda premium that i use for staying up to date. Doesn't.
actually i took your advice and deleted my google account, play store, google services framework, google one time userinit,..EVERYTHING. rom still running great. im using yahoo mail with no geolocation services and using custom weather location in rom with all location except what you got to have on turned off and i actually have 162 mb free ram versus 129 before and can see a difference in battery life and speed of rom. all the bookmark sync, contacts sync..all of that garbage deleted from rom. i did it because in my own personal opinion its none of googles business who my contacts are, what my calendar appointments are, what websites i like to go to or anything else for that matter...sell me the damn phone..stay out of my life...thats the deal lol
I'm gonna do a fresh flash with slim ROM and test

this one has been an issue for me as well. i keep tons of appointments and none of the crap ive found really provide the two things i need in a good calendar. 1. a customizable full month widget 2. full featured agenda
google calendar is crap and doesnt even have a month widget, android pro widgets has a great month widget but its all heavily dependent on google calendar to work at all unless you are just using a month widget without any other use in it. and its bloated with crap widgets like facebook,etc..and i cant find a decent replacement any where on play store. think i will try f-droid.
