i am new to this, going to buy the Note 10.1 2014, from outside my country (maybe from usa , or europe)
#1 will the firmware update be aproblem ! as i realize that it is released by the country names
ie, will i be free to use the one of my country (if there was any for egypt) or do i have to use the one from purchase country
i use english as my main language on devices.
#2 will there be a problem for 3G version if bought from abroad ! (my country supports similar 3g to europe and older model of 10.1 3g works fine here)

Quick Replies :
1, No, you can still flash any stock rom for any country.
2. As long as the Note will not be locked to a specific carrier you will be able to use the 3G in your country..

I have a T-Mobile Version of HTC Touch Pro 2.
Can somebody please confirm if this mobile will work with 3G Asian Bands ??
or
In simple words, can i use the 3G Feature available in countries like India or Singapore with the T-Mobiles version of HTC Touch Pro 2 ???
Please advise !!!!
PS : And forgive me if this question is a repeat from earlier threads. I read few threads. But i didnt see a definite answer for this.
AFAIK T-Mobile TP2 uses UMTS 1700/2100.
According to http://www.gsmworld.com/roaming/gsminfo/cou_in.shtml there is no 3G network in India yet.
And for Singapore http://www.gsmworld.com/roaming/gsminfo/cou_sg.shtml 3G is available on 2100.
3G in India
Yes - We do have 3G services in India. Iam not even looking at the link that you gave.
Iam quiet sure, BSNL India is offering various 3G services from Corporate Services to DATA transfer services.
I may be wrong, But to my knowledge, we do have 3G servies here for over 12 months...
I agree... I can't see India not having 3G. Sounds like the GSM alliance needs to update their site.

Well, their site also says that T-Mobile doesn't have 3G.
Wikipedia Data
Data from Wikipedia -

This is my understanding...
T0 my knowledge,
Universal 3G Standard is UMTS2100. Tmobile Touch Pro 2 supports that anyway.
Not just for US, But also for most of the other countries UMTS2100 is a standard 3G path.
IT SHOULD WORK FINE ACROSS THE WORLD. UK VODAPHONE provide 3G access via UMTS2100. I havent read the details for BSNL 3G service in India, becos i didnt find the details anywhere ! But one of my friend who bought a same Tmobile's Android version phone works fine with BSNL's 3G. Iam quiet sure BSNL uses the same thingy....
And to quote another example, 3 Top mobile operators in Singapore (ASIA) --- * Mobile One, * StarHub and * Singapore Telecom Mobile Pvt. Ltd., offer 3G at UMTS 2100.
As a matter of fact, with respect to design - Tmobile offering of Touch Pro 2 is more reliable and more sturdy than the original version of TP2. It is just the fanciness that takes lead for the original version which are more prone to scratches.
I may be wrong.... Please let me know if you have more details and correct me if iam wrong................

Thank you so much for your answer on this.

I've been looking around but can't seem to find an answer to my question;
I bought an international version of the note II (the GT-N7100 sold in HK) a couple of months ago. I have been using it with China Unicom so far and everything was fine. However, i recently decided to change to China Telecom as their internet plans are cheaper and their network is more reliable.
The person who sold me the phone assured me that all networks would work with this unlocked/sim free version.
Turns out the phone is unable to discover the China Telecom network. Is it not able to recognize and use CDMA2000?
Finding China Unicom and CMCC networks works fine but China Telecom doesn't show up at all.
If i pop my China Telecom sim inside, it simply does not recognize the network and nothing works (no phone, sms or internet).
The card I have allows phone calls and internet.
I can understand how computers work but I'm a total noob when it comes to mobile phones (this one being my first smartphone).
I'm aware that all 3 phone companies function differently (GSM/Wcdma/Cdma2000) but had the impression that the note 2 could handle all of them.
Is this particular version of the note II unable to recognize and use China Telecom or is it a configuration problem?
I've tried playing with different settings but nothing's helped so far. I don't understand how frequencies and bands work nor what China Telecom uses exactly. My phone is not rooted.
Any help is greatly appreciated! It's hard to get proper information when you're a noob and even more when in China T.T

That's because your Note II is WCDMA/GSM model. China Telecom is using CDMA/CDMA2000. You can use your phone for normal GSM on both China Unicom and China Mobile but if you are looking at 3G network it only works with China Unicom.

Thank you for clarifying that!
I'll try to find an alternative then as I'm not interested in staying with China Unicom for now.
Help much appreciated!
Fragmented networks in China
Sadly China Telecom in incompatible with anything and its market too small for variations to be made specifically for it.
Unicom's coverage is spotty at best.
And China Mobile is on it's own version of 3G/4G. At least the SIM cards work... so I'm using them for my Note II, though looking forward to when those new chipsets that support TD-LTE and regular LTE are in production. Maybe with my Note 4?
Hello,
I bought an european version of the Oneplus 3 in june, it works perfectly fine in France. But in next January, i go to Canada for work and live, and my european version seems doesn' work on network frequency used in Quebec(CAD), so my question is : is it possible to turn my OnePlus 3 in a North America Model (with mod) ? or i need to sell mine et re-buy a brand new phone ?
Thanks in advance
or just add some Band for LTE ?
I have done some research on this topic (used Google ). There are snapdragon based phones for which people could load a different software for the modem which used the bands they needed.
Just as the title says.. is it possible? Will it work with the network carriers over here?
IDC about taxes and stuff I just want to know about compatibility with the network carriers.
Sorry for my English
where in Asia?
each carrier usually uses different frequencies as allowed by local laws.
in the spec page of the OnePlus3 you can see the frequencies supported by the US version.
if you specify where you are from we can help localize the carrier support for your region.
Helpful service
Google search willmyphonework
Edit: Since Im a new member I cannot post the direct link
I used this site to make sure my op3 was compatible with the carriers in my country. Just select your phone and model (I believe A3000 is the american model) and the country and it will give you a list of compatible carriers and the bands each carrier uses.
Mostly 4G won't work. Band 3 (1800MHz) is common in Asia. Try Aliexpress. They have A3000 model for the same price (Free shipping), which has Band 3 network. I'm in Sri Lanka. I was about to buy OP3 phone from USA but skipped it because I found out the network incompatibility.

I'm from Israel.
I just checked on willmyphonework and you guys were right, it's compatible only with 2G and 3G bands, and about 0% compatibility with 4G bands.
Ofc it's a deal breaker for me so I won't buy it in my trip to the US soon.
Do you know if maybe I can find the EU model for sale in the US?
If not, do you have any recommendations on where to buy it? Here in Israel it's about 1000 INS (about 250$) MORE than the US price...

I bought mine directly from the manufacturer. There was no option at the time to select the model but they seemed to select the model for me anyway based on the ship to address, so I got the European model. I would check the different models available on that site and find the one that works in Israel
Aliexpress is a good site. Just check seller's and shop's rating. There are plenty of OP3 for sale in Aliexpress for the original price. A3000 model would support your 4G connection. (Better check yourself )
Hi,
I would really appreciate if someone could help me with my LG G8.
I bought it off ebay , the phone is on T-Mobile version running Android 10 with the software version G820TM20i .
Since the phone was not available to buy in UK, i've ordered it from US .
I am using it with a EE sim card which is supposed to have the best network coverage in UK , but still the signal bar only shows 1 or 2 lines from 5 ( 5 being max strength ) .
When using the SIM card with another phone ( S10+ ) originally bought from UK I am not having any signal issues.
My question is : Could this be a problem with the stock ROM being a US version ?
I am thinking of flashing another ROM probably one from Europe or even UK, but unfortunatelly I don't know which one is the best.
Could anyone advise me ?
Thanks.
I have the same issues. Mine is a factory unlocked G820QM (US version).
Not working well in Singapore.
On the network with the best coverage just 2 bars and just UMTS.
With another network 3 bars and LTE but ... no mobile data.
Not easy getting these US phones to work overseas ...
It should be easy, i used to flash my lg g6 and lg g4 with ROMs in order to fix this kind of issues, with the help of the DEVs from here.
It's so sad that this forum is no longer that active like it used to be .
The G6 and G7 was also sold in Europe, SEA and so on. So flashing to other locations would be possible.
The G8 was only sold in the US, Korea and Canada. Still possible to flash to be able to work in the UK?
