I am planning on buying an M8 while I am on vacation in China. After checking though some online shops, I discovered that they sell M8t, M8w, M8sw and a M8st. What are the differences between these models and will they impact my expierience if I bring my phone back to Europe.

I am sure it will affect usability as China uses TD-SCDMA.
(TD-SCDMA is an air interface found in UMTS mobile telecommunications networks in China as an alternative to W-CDMA).
Which means chinese device will work only in China and/or in TD-SCDMA network.

I just bought the HTC One M8t today in China and i will be using it in Denmark when i get back home. I just looked at the antenna where it should work on the danish LTE 1800 and 2600. At least they assured me in the shop (Sunning).
@#1 - So i hope i will work, how sure are you that it wont work in Europe? Shouldnt it just be the LTE that is covered?

I don't think the shop was correct. The Chinese TD-SCDMA network uses 2,300–2,400 MHz, while the European W-CDMA countries using 2100 MHz...

if you read better on that site you could find this info : Mobile phone standard: Mobile 4G (TD-LTE)
that TD makes it China specific.
so if you need a "paperweight" or just media player get it...
Hello HTC One M8 users out there could you help me identify if this is Genuine or Clone HTC One M8? I don't want to end up getting Clone especially when I am dealing with the Chinese sellers!
Seller sells all M8 versions including Chinese/HK/European/USA
European version 32GB price is 290 USD which is bit hard to believe
I am uploading some pictures which users have posted after receiving the item.
Also, I would like to know what is European version is called? Such as M8T is for China mobile! There are many models out there like M8S/Y/W etc

All the pics look genuine.. Bootloader looks good. Prices are insane if you're from India, confirm whether they'll work with 2300Mhz LTE, that's what's coming here mostly

Yes, It does look genuine but Chinese peoples have released realistic looking clone M8. When we ask whether it's genuine or not they tell it's genuine even if it is high imitation. Yes, Prices are insane. Only European/USA/HK model prices are somewhere b/w 300-325 USD
Chinese model of M8 is priced at 480-500 USD which is TD LTE and it does support 2300Mhz AFAIK but I don't mind FDD LTE European model which supports 1800Mhz cause of International ROM support.
I have researched about LTE band frequency in India Reliance is gonna lunch LTE on both frequency 1800Mhz FDD LTE and 2300Mhz TDD LTE Airtel as we know already has 2300Mhz TDD LTE but they have started 1800Mhz FDD LTE as well as and Videocon has already acquired 1800Mhz FDD LTE spectrum in six circles. Vodafone and Idea will also lunch 4G on 1800Mhz FDD LTE next year. 1800Mhz frequency is more preferred than 2300Mhz cause of towers and less handsets are available in the market which supports 2300Mhz TDD LTE :fingers-crossed:

All European/unlocked models are 16gig Btw. Only us models are 32gig. Also, you can tell from pictures of the bootloader and the serial numbers that these are indeed genuine handsets. Also, I'm pretty sure even the China ones have international rom support, just no dual sim or eye. Hoping for 1800Mhz, currently using reliance in Mumbai, but their 3G service in a car or train is just horrible.

Uh-oh! But, Seller mentions that he has both 16 GB & 32GB European models. I haven't talked with him yet. Let me talk to him. It is strange that 16GB European model price is 30 USD higher than the 32GB.
Yeah, There's a Chinese forum for Smartphones just like we have XDA but it's all in the Chinese language and even if I flash those ROM one disadvantage would be Chinese language everywhere
How much speed you getting on Reliance 3G network? I think Reliance is as costlier as Vodafone/Airtel/Idea when it comes to 3G Data. I have never used Reliance so dunno about their network range. I have heard Vodafone. They have some good coverage.

I'm sure all unlocked phones are 16gig models.
And what I was saying is that I'm 90% sure you you can flash normal roms on a Chinese phone, from xda. ViperOne for example, works on the m8_tl
I've never used any other provider except Reliance. In fact, my entire family uses reliance. Their customer service is pretty good in Mumbai, and coverage is excellent almost everywhere. Earlier, I've got upto 15 Mb/s but since the past few months, it doesn't go above 5Mb/s. But speeds are okay, what I hate is that data stops transmitting sometimes (even with full network) in the middle of loading a Web page or a video, and anything that requires continuous data transfer (I use a CCTV application, and can't see more than 5 seconds of a live stream) will just lose data for like 30 seconds, sometimes longer, and then come back. So it's good enough for light browsing, and chatting etc, but is just okay otherwise. This all is while moving about in a car or train.. If i'm at home (where, again I get full coverage), it's much, much better. Also, I think it's the cheapest for data. I have been getting(prepaid) 2 gb of data for 177, with free unlimited whatsapp, fb, and Twitter for the past two months (1gb+1gb free)
Postpaid is 123 for 1gig and 246 for 2 etc
Reliance Jio 4g supposedly is gonna be very good, so fingers crossed

Not what I'm talking about. HTC sells an international variant for european countries and the rest of the world, which are 16gig models only. Only m8s for the American market are 32gigs. When I said unlocked, I meant the ones htc officially sells outside the US. (HTC__001, HTC__Y13 etc) Also, we're talking carrier unlocked, not bootloader unlocked. Also, the phone with the bootloader screen is a Hong Kong variant (see the software number) which is again a 16 gig model.

AFAIK European Models are called International models which is default Unlocked models unlike USA carrier specific models which are locked by network whether 16GB model Or 32GB Model. HongKong/Taiwan/Macau also sells 16GB/32GB Unlocked models but that variant is different than European Variant. HK Variant is called HTC One M8Y and I dunno what they calls European model.

I didn't know that HTC sells 16GB unlocked model for European countries & rest of the world. I thought HTC is selling both 16GB & 32GB by default Unlocked European models. But, Then my seller mentions that he is having both 16GB/32GB European model. Now question is if you're telling HTC sells only 16GB European model then how come he is having 32GB European Model? P.s It is no doubt that seller sells Genuine items. Luckily seller understands little bit of English so yesterday I talked to him and he said Both European variant & HK Variant are almost universal and I could flash European Variant ROM on HK variant. I dunno what's the difference b/w HK & European variant might be LTE band difference other than that everything would be the same.

Yep, the only difference should be in LTE bands. Again, I'm 90% sure you can cross flash roms, and since he says you can, you probably can. Also, I've never seen an European 32gb model.. I'm pretty sure he would be selling the US unlocked model, (both international and us have the code m8n) but only difference will be in bands.. If the 32gb supports 1800mhz (ask him, I don't know) then get that!
PS, link to the seller please?

Telus Canada. Still not a US model. Not unlocked, as I stated earlier. 401.9 firmware.
But I do understand your point about he must have unlocked now. I was smoking when I replied last. lol
EDIT: And definitely international model. Go ahead and ask @Sneakyghost if you would like to.
Or you could read the headline and first paragraph in this article where it mentions the M8_UL model, which is what I own.

Hey! Definitely lots of confusion.. Did you buy it from the telus store? Was it carrier locked? The os version number sure makes it look like the European one, but is it officially sold in Europe? Or anywhere outside North America? I'm speaking about the official EMEA model..
Also, my m8 is an M8_UL, but is still not the international one, it is an Indian model, with MID 0P6B650. So the code may be the same, but the underlying phone is definitely different, as mine supports TD-LTE too. As long as the phone @maheshpatel chooses has 1800mhz support, he'll be fine. Also, might be helpful to ask @Sneakyghost, he's a knowledgeable guy!
We never got the 32GB version in the UK, only the 16GB model. That's not to say it doesn't exist, mind

Hi there,
Looking at Google Pixels page one can see that there is two versions of the product: NA and RoW.
Question is: is there any chance of buying a RoW version in US? Has anyone ever managed to buy the past Nexus International Versions in US before?
Thanks all and regards
Took me a few seconds to figure out what RoW means. I'd like to know this too.
In regards to the N6p I tried to buy an Intl version from the US but it wasn't available.
Had to be bought from Intl market like EU or the Middle East..

Is there any difference in the UAE? Both versions support LTE Band 3 and UMTS Band 1. Should work fine in the UAE.
I'm using US 6P which also supports LTE B3 and have not had any issues at all.

To my understanding of supported LTE, UMTS, and GSM frequencies both Pixel Variants will work in UAE but Carrier Aggregation will probably not work. Not sure if the operators in the UAE support CA (yet) but if/ when they do this will probably something that wouldn't work on the NA variant. The only combination supported by the device for UAE bands is B7+B7, which may or may not work.
Whether this is a deal breaker or not is up to you to decide.
Won't work. There are two different version. One that supports international LTE bands and one that supports the bands in the USA. Just like the Nexus 6, 5x and 6P. If you buy the Pixel in the USA you'd only be able to use 3g speeds in Europe, band 7 (1800mhz) being the only exception.
In short, should you buy the pixel phone in the USA you won't have 4G in Europe and other countries that use the same bands.

I found out the warranty over here is handled by the retailers and is not international (covered by Google/Huawei).

I am also looking at this and cannot understand the CA limitations on the US device. Unless I am mistaken the Snapdragon X12 modem supports all combinations of supported frequencies. Yet the phones have different combinations for some reason. I do not know if Google is limiting this via software. Any thoughts?

How comes? Both NA & RoW Pixel's tech specs show bands 3 and 20 (beside the band 7 & others) which are the most common bands used in Europe for LTE, so I can't see why the NA model won't have 4G in Europe... Can you please explain?
Lots of overlap
There appears to be quite significant overlap, with the NA version supporting all or almost all LTE bands in most European countries and in many non-European countries as well (including all LTE bands in UAE):
NA version: frequencycheck.com/compatibility/GPQkJ/google-pixel-xl-phone-nexus-m1-td-lte-na-128gb-htc-marlin/countries
RoW version: frequencycheck.com/compatibility/vWPw8/google-pixel-xl-phone-nexus-m1-global-td-lte-128gb-htc-marlin/countries
---------- Post added at 07:15 ---------- Previous post was at 06:52 ----------
Hmm... just noticed that a few European countries that FrequencyCheck lists the NA version as having only partial LTE coverage for are because the site considers the NA version not to support band 8. But, according to Google's own spec page (madeby.google.com/phone/specs/ > Telephony), both the NA and RoW versions support B8. No idea if FrequencyCheck is a generally reliable source of info, as I just discovered the site a few minutes ago. I hope Google's listing for their own phone is correct, but the fact that B8 isn't included anywhere in the LTE 2xCA and 3xCA breakdowns for the NA version as it is for the RoW version makes me wonder...

How comes? Both NA & RoW Pixel's tech specs show bands 3 and 20 (beside the band 7 & others) which are the most common bands used in Europe for LTE, so I can't see why the NA model won't have 4G in Europe... Can you please explain?

Yes, the main European LTE bands are 3, 7 and 20, so it doesn't matter which version you have as both support all these bands. scandalousk is wrong.
Partially, it'll support 4G. But it won't support LTE-Advanced (4g+)

It'll support LTE, but won't support LTE Carrier Aggregation. LTE-Advanced is more than just Carrier Aggregation.
NA (North America) Pixel's tech specs show it supports plenty of frequencies, including LTE bands 1, 3, 7, 20 which are the most common ones for LTE in EU (Europe). Despite of that, I found here opinions of this device not working in EU for LTE (unfortunately without explanation or references). So I am confused. Does anyone know more / have experience?
Because not all European carriers have all frequences working in all areas, so it may have issues with some carriers.

Well... thank you for the reply... but... isn't it obvious, that phones will not work in areas with no coverage? I ques I just understand you wrong...

I have the similar question as well: we have same situation in China, some carrier has some bands and the others have the rest. I just ordered one days ago and will test it myself...

I think you won't have any problems as long as you get the RoW (rest of the world) version. I want a phone I can use in North America and in Europe as well...
http://willmyphonework.net not sure if this will help because it doesn't really differentiate NA version from ROW, but I just put in Denmark and it said the Pixel XL would work with most carriers in Denmark.

I've got the one from US Play Store, I suppose it is US version.
It seems work with most carriers in China.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks
Use the above to see if (or which) carriers in your most visited destinations use the bands that the US Pixel supports.

Thank you. I found out I need LTE frequencies 1, 3, 7, 20. NA Pixel lists all of them in tech specs. It means it will work? Is it really so easy to find out?

There are only 3 different pixel builds. Verizon, Europe and rest of world. You would have purchased rest of world from USA google play.

It is not EU and the rest of world. It is US and the rest of world. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pixel_(smartphone)
And it seems to me like the US version will work with majority of European carriers, even with EU LTE networks (since supporting bands # 3, 7 & 20).
Please correct me if I am wrong.
Hi, I'm from South America, so, my only option to get this device is to buy one from china sellers. But I'm confused because every page like willmydevicework (I don't trust this so much), gsmarena and devicespecifications.com show different information on LTE Band Support.
For example, in willmydevicework, none of the variants (p2a42 and p2c72) supports B4 AWS LTE (1700/2100) (The band that i need in my carrier)
On the other side, in gsmarena and devicespecifications, all the variants, no matter if is p2a42 or p2c72 and 32 o 64gb storage, supports that band.
From sellers, the Aliexpress store "Eternal Team" show full band support on p2c72 model: FDD Band 1/3/4/5/7/8/20/28
Other seller, Fantacy, says that his p2c72 supports only LTE FDD B1/B3/B7.
And finally, tinydeal and Aliexpress "Lenovo authorized store", shows that his 64gb model supports FDD-LTE B1, B3, B4, B7, B8.
So, which should I trust? I'm interested only if the phone supports B4, asking for advice if someone of south america or other america's countries have the device and working on his 4G LTE carrier with B4 AWS.
Thanks in advance.

Am having the same issues like you, I want to buy from Nigeria ?? but a feed up with the inconclusive description on Aliexpress. Am looking to get the model that has LTE band 28 but non of the descriptions contain band 28 now.
Please can anyone who is already using this phone confirm the LTE bands?
Are there different hardwares/modems for p2?
Please I need urgent reply

From my experience. You can't trust any of the chinese stores with listing proper frequency's.
They even list the wrong frequency's to catch you into buying the device in question.
I highly recommend following site to check for frequency support:
Look at supported cellular networks!
P2a42 = http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=device&id=11116&c=lenovo_vibe_p2_p2a42_dual_sim_td-lte_32gb
P2c72 32GB = http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=device&id=10515&c=lenovo_vibe_p2_p2c72_dual_sim_td-lte_32gb
P2c72 64GB = http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=device&id=10930&c=lenovo_vibe_p2_p2c72_dual_sim_td-lte_64gb

Thanks for clarifying me mate, Aliexpress guys are selling the P2c72 with 4G/64G but here is the issue as I also attached, they are flashing the ROM for P2a42 in it because of play store, multi language and to sell globally but the problem is,
If you they flash P2c42 ROM on P2c72, will all the LTE band work?
Is there any hardware difference between P2c72 and P2a42?
Or is it just a modem difference, same hardware?

No the LTE bands will stay the same. Its hardware limited.
What they do is. Use the available information here from XDA how to flash the P2a42 Firmware on the P2c72.
Usually they just flash the system.img and the boot stack. You will have P2a42 Userinterface in multilingual just like an P2a42 but will still have the same LTE bands like the P2c72.
The reason behind it.
The P2c72 is sold in their homecountry (usually china) for way cheaper than the P2a42 in the western market
and they sell the modified P2c72 for a higher prices on the international market, which is still cheaper tham the P2a42 price.
By tricking the customer into listing all LTE frequency and confusing them to have "P2a42" feature. They fall for the trap.
Always trust the listing at pdadb.net
Thanks mate, the seller told me no after I put forth the question to him without any explanation but I guess this answers it.
Really need a good mid range with LTE Band 28 that ships to Nigeria.
My target was Redmi note 3 special edition but All Aliexpress stores shipping to Nigeria is out of stock. Sadly enough, they still ship to Spain.

You can use pdadb to filter for phones by bands and other features. I use that to start my research. Stick with Snapdragon based devices if you want community freedom.
Avoid Oppo phones at all costs. They don't release kernel sources and removed fastboot and any way of unlocking the bootloader.
Preferably stick with a brand that:
1. Snapdragon based phones
2. Releases kernel Sources
3. Allows for Bootloader unlocking
4. Has a community on XDA
Such as Xiaomi, Motorola, Lenovo, etc just to name a few. In not any particular order.

So, you have LTE band 4 with your carrier and your using it on your Chinese p2c72?
