How to change APN? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3

So im at my APN settings but everything is gray out I've heard people say change APN protocol to IPv6 to IPv4 since i have horrible LTE Speeds my s4 was great and so was the 5s now the note 3 has real bad LTE (also wifi...) so how can I change it?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2476893

I've tried all apn settings, v4, v6 & epc, they all produce the same speeds & latency for me on sgn2 & 3, I like to keep it on v4 because I come across some pages that are not v6 compatible yet. So I hope that helps, at least for the southern cali folks.

LTE APN?

What is the stock APN for LTE on the Note 2? I flashed a custom rom but im used the Telus option so I can use Network Selection.
I know I can google it but When I google LTE apn I get the pta apn which is not what came on the phone.
If LTE works with the 'phone" APN then what is the pta apn for?
Only APN I have. Works fine on LTE.
Name: ATT Phone
APN: Phone
MMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
MMS proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
MMS port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
APN type: default,mms,supl
APN protocol: IPv4
Everything else blank.

Are you referring to forcing EDGE or HSPA+ only? ATT modems do not allow this. I am very interesting in getting this to work on att?
Can I ask which rom you flashed and which modem? Now that you got the LTE APN how is performance?

No Im not refering forcing to GSM/WCDMA. I was referring as I did not have the LTE phone apn.
And I dont have an issue switching between GSM-Edge/WCDMA-HSPA+ at all on my phone....
And I dont know how LTE is yet, Not in an LTE area just near them in 2 directions.
I flashed my note 2 with CleanRom. I like it. Seems fast enough and I like the features. The thing that bugs me is that my network status icon always shows as either 4g or H+. Never LTE and I wonder if I'm actually on an LTE network, or just the enhanced 3g. I get about 6 mbps down and 1 up according to speedtest. Not bad, but I've seen people in my area getting 15 down and 8 or 9 up. Granted I'm on AT&T and they were on t-mobile. But my impression was that t-mobile wasn't going to be LTE until sometime in 2013.
I've set my APN to the settings in this thread. It's possible that I just won't see the LTE icon.
Any thoughts?
Do you have the N7100? If so I dont think that supports LTE.

Clean Rom uses an international base which means the icons are different. AT&T LTE = 4G, you can also verify which network you are connected to by going to Settings > About Device >Status > Mobile Network Type. If you are connected to LTE, it will show you LTE:14.

Depends. Mine Shows 4G for HSPA+ and LTE for LTE

Rogers i317m Band 7 support? Slow LTE?

Hey guys, got a bit of a complicated question.
So I remember when I got my Galaxy Note 2 back in September I was getting LTE speeds well over 40 Mbps up/down. I've been using custom roms since day one and never really had any issues with LTE speeds (Though I do recall I would sometimes install a new ROM and my speeds would drop down to ~15 Mbps up/down, and I would just flash back to the original Rogers ROM and then flash whatever new ROM and I'd get my 40 Mbps back, but this wasn't always necessary).
Anyway, it's been several months now and I've noticed I can't get those high speeds anymore; I'm back down to 15 Mbps. I checked my LTE band preferences using the dialercode *#2263# and I noticed the only usable band I have now is Band 4 (1700 MHz). I can switch to Band 17 (700 MHz) but Rogers doesn't support that. What's really weird is that I can't select Band 7 (2600 MHz) which I've read is Roger's faster LTE network (I am theorizing this is what gave me the 40+ Mbps connection).
If I remember correctly, the I317m supports 700/1700/2600/others, so I don't think this should be happening. I should still be able to select Band 7. I can tap that Band 7 option as much as I can but it does not change anything on the phone, whereas selecting Band 4 or Band 17 will switch the bands.
I don't suppose this has anything to do with my modem as it's occurred on both I317MVLALJ2 and I317MVLBMA3 modems. I'm using CleanROM 4.9 but I don't think this should be an issue. I've also had the same issue on other TW roms as well as CM based ROMs like Paranoid, Vanilla RootBox, and others.
Does anyone have any insight on this issue? It's really bugging me that I can't select Band 7. Maybe it was disabled by Rogers on their side but it shouldn't have blocked it on my phone. Let me know if you guys have had any similar problems or if your data speeds have also slowed down since you first got the phone.
APN setting ???
Perhaps it has changed from the carrier...
For example...I can choose ATT phone...and be limited to sub-LTE speeds....regardless of network switch settings..
But when choosing our ATT pta setting...LTE jumpes to max network speed...
These APN entries are separate from any onboard network switch.....and are largely ignored by a modem that contains the proper RIL's...
Just a thought here....as I'm on a different carrier......g

I want max speeds, how do you access the pta setting?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda app-developers app
Thanks for the insight guys. I should have mentioned that I did try other APNs. I know that Rogers has another APN rogers-core-appl1.apn, which I tried earlier. Unfortunately, I was only able to get 3G/H+ with that APN.
PTA is the LTE APN that is defaulted in the stock UCAMA4 or UCAMC3 builds using those respective modems..
It is also found in CM 10.1 under APN settings. ..
Note...you must be using the stock modems listed above. ..even if you have already selected the proper APN..
Users on networks other than ATT, using this device. ..will not see the higher speeds as they are indigenous to the ATT network. ..g

Phone stays on HSPA when LTE is available

So I own a D851, currently on T-Mobile with good LTE speeds in my area but quite often the phone switches to HSPA and doesn't utilize LTE coverage when I need it. I end up having to either switch data off/on or accessing the radio settings menu and setting it to LTE ONLY. I understand the slower network coverage saves battery but to just stay there I don't get when I'm getting download speeds of 9mb on HSPA and 30mb on LTE in the exact same spot. The thing that sucks about setting the radio to LTE ONLY is that I can't browse while on a call. Anyone know a workaround?

I had the same issue with ATT, unlocked phone. Made sure the APN was correct, tried may other APN settings, and finally called Consumer Cellular. They advised I did, indeed, have the correct APN (my first version). They did some type of reset on their end, and viola.
On my OnePlus it was the similar. APN was correct, same APN as the G3, but until I called CC, and their reset, phone would not show LTE at all, only H and H+
apn settings?

What are the apn settings that are working for you? I've tried several times to address this issue with CC but lte STILL isnt working on either of our 2 devices. Had no problems when used with an att account.
I am still having this same problem on my LG G3 (vs985) on Cricket Wireless

[Q] IPv4 not working in AOSP roms

Im wondering why in aosp, why the apn setting using ipv4 T-Mobile US LTE......kills my data connection but T-Mobile US LTE IPv6 works.
Anything i can do on my end?
Kernel, rom related?
I'm not sure why this works (especially seeing both names resolve to the same two IP addresses) but I've found I can always get the IPv4 APN to work if I go in and edit the APN to fast.tmobile.com from fast.t-mobile.com.
Tethering still gives me problems when IPv6 is available so I am glad changing the APN destination works, even if I still can't explain it.
Weird....that did work. I'm actually getting faster download speeds under ipv4 compared to ipv6 lol
Here's another question, why can't I send or receive MMS on AOSP while on Wifi??

[Q] SGH-i317 - Can't get signals for H2O tried Samsung Hung APN Settings

Hi Guys,
I have an unlocked phone got sim from H2O but i am getting barely any signals. I tried samsunghung APN setting and it didn't do the trick. My brother has a samsung galaxy S4 and he doesn't have any issues. Any recommendations or help is appreciated. Thanks.
Did you try changing the network settings?
No i didn't mess around with network settings, i wasn't knowledgeable enough. I just tried to set the APN and it didn't help much with acquiring a better signal.
APNs are used for data network connections. APNs will not affect cell signal. Try wcdma only in the network settings.
Are you running a stock ROM?
It won't let me pick a different network..says default settings. It doesn't give me any options. Yes it's stock ROM.
I'm really stumped because it looks like H2O Wireless uses the same frequencies as AT&T.
The s4 is also being used on H2O? I know that when I am at my friend's place, my provider uses only HSPA and the signal is fine. His provider is similar to AT&T and uses gsm/hspa and his signal is crap.
