[Q] Strange calendar behaviour and syncing problem
Hey guys,
I have this very very strange issue for a few weeks right now and im getting extremly frustrated. PLEASE help.
let me explain.
few weeks ago when i left country for holidays and used my Note there i got this message every day "google.calendar.com had stopped unexpectedly". I didnt really care since i was on holidays and didnt use the phone for anything just a camera.
After i came back this message disappeared.
but here comes the real problem:
Every single day out of nothing my calendar is completly empty. all my events disappear, i cant add any event because when i press the plus button everything is empty. In settings under google sync when i press sync now, message appear that that google calendar wont sync and it says it will sync later.
When i restart the phone everything is just fine all my events are back calendar sync is working (even when i pres sync now in settings). couple of hours and again everything disappears.
Im getting very upset about restarting the phone twice a day (o use that calendar a lot).
What i tried after searching on the internet.
- I unchecked Samsung My Calendar and everything. Only my google calendar is chceked in S Planer settings. and also in Settings i turned off calendar syncing under Samsung.
- I have cleared the calendar cachce in aplications and cache of everything that i thought might somehow conect to calendar
- I have deleted all past events i dont need anymore
Im runing stock ROM and i dont have root or anything else and the phone was working for almost a year without problems.
Please help me this is insane...
And im hoping for another solution then factory reset...

I have suffered a double whammy on my desire, after a running froyo for a week last saturday I suddenly had a low memory storage warning and subsequently my gmail, contacts and calander sync stopped. After transferring all the apps I could to the SD card and removing trivial apps I got up to 16meg phone memory and sync began to work again. Yesterday phone memory reduced again and sync stopped, deleted more apps sync started to work but looking at my gmail on the laptop to confirm emails were up to date my browser version declared my account had been put into lockdown due to unusual activity WTF
Today memory back down to 11meg, sync stopped again, deleted a few more apps (ones I wanted) then updated facebook for android and suddenly 100meg of memory appeared . Calendar and contacts sync fine, gmail started to sync and looked to be up to date, however refresh bar in Gmail Widget continues to show loading conversations and sync symbol is flashing. Decided to have a look from the laptop again sure enough emails were up to date, came out of the inbox on my laptop to look at the calandar to check that and no problem. Tried to go back into my inbox on the laptop and up popped the good old Account Lockdown due to unusual activity please come back in 24hours
Now I am realy peed off I was just about to clean up my inbox as there are quite a lot of old emails in there but cannot access the account on line.
Does any one have any ideas cos I do not know where to go next.
I only have my one gmail account [email protected] (migrated from @googlemail.com had to wipe and reset my phone for that one a couple of months ago thanks google)
check your sent items and see if some spam bot is sending out kak from your gmail account. Either way change your gmail password just to be on the safe side.
Got back into Gmail account after the lockdown and deleted 580 emails got down to 10. On my desire the loading conversations still shows constantly when looking at my inbox even though there are no more conversations other than those showing, the sync icon was not showing on the notification bar.
All seemed well for a week then this morning noticed my phone was running hot in my pocket, looked at it and the sync icon was on in the notification bar. Looked at the sync menu and lo and behold Gmail was continually refreshing, this managed to kill my battery after a couple of hours. Checked on my work computer and Gmail account seemed fine, put phone in car dock on way home and sync icon came up again on gmail. Got home and checked on laptop and Gmail account is locked down again.
Any ideas peeps.
Stock EVO, 2.2...
I just noticed this issue about three days ago...my Exchange calendar is constantly syncing, and I do mean constantly.
If you go to Settings - Accounts & Syc - Exchange ActiveSync, you can see the last sync for each item. My calendar constantly reads the same time as system time, and the Sync icon in my notification area is constantly flashing on and off.
I have noticed that my battery is draining VERY fast. I had to put it on a charger twice yesterday (I got the 15% battery warning) with normal use, when I can typically go a full day of use without any issue.
I can deselect Calendar syncing, but of course that's only a temporary fix.
Has anyone else run into this? Anyone heard of a solution? A google search did not yield any results.
FIXED!!!
Well I fixed my own problem...though I cannot determine the cause of the issue (I even tried uninstalling some apps I had DL over the past few days), the fix was simple, though it took a while to figure out.
I tried to merely remove/re-add my Exchange sync, but I kept getting 'client/server conversion errors', and my calendar would refuse to sync (though email and contacts did). Furthermore, in Outlook, I would get lots of duplicate entries (interestingly, they were recurring events and all-day events).
This was the solution:
1. Delete Exchange account from EVO (contacts, calendar, email)
2. Since I noticed that my calendar app still had some entries in it, even after deleting the Exchange account, it was evident that there was some data still on my phone that was possibly causing the syncing error. So, I went to Settings - Applications - Manage Applications, and selected the All tab. Scroll down to the 'Calendar' app entries, and you have to clear/delete any cache/storage data in each.
3. Re-synced with Exchange successfully.
I searched around different forums, and it seems many have had a similar issue and have waited in vain for Sprint or HTC to publish a solution.
This one worked for me. Hope it helps others.
yes!!!! Thank you so much. After trying everything and almost a week of my battery going dead with a couple of hours on my EVO your solution worked! I would recommend that anyone try this solution before going any further!
Hello everyone,
I've tried to get a help on polish android forums but without a single reply. That's why I'm asking you for help guys. My problem is really really strange and I found nothing about such issue in whole Internet.
I have an issue with contacts synchronized with Exchange 2003 Server using Corporate Sync. After setting up account and initial synchronization everything works just perfect... until first reboot. After any reboot my contacts synchronized with Exchange starts to disappear. However mail and calc still synced well. Contacts don't disappear all at once but in "blocks" about 20 contacts every 30 seconds. It takes about 5-10 minutes till contact book is vanished. After all contacts disappear phone connects to Exchange server and starts to sync contacts again. Then it also takes 5-10 minutes till all contacts will shown (sync) depending on connection speed to server.
Initially I thought that after phone restart there's some issue with sync to exchange and that's why contacts are vanished and downloaded (synced) from exchange again. However when I disabled APN, WiFi and any other form of internet communication in phone and then restarted it, the scenario was excacly the same with one exception. Contacts got lost but not synced again since there was no internet communication. After that and due to nature of how contacts disappear (one-by-one, not all at once) I thought that maybe some indexing process is puring my phone book after device boot-up and I think I was not in mistake. Using some software (like Titanium backup) I've frozen com.motorola.blur.main and restarted the phone. After reboot contacts still started to vanish but in the middle of process I've de-frozen com.motorola.blur.main process and contacts STOPED to dissapear. From 624 contacts 507 was still remaing and not deleting themselves anymore. However those already deleted was not synced again at all. After that I re-created my account and all issue start over.
Sometimes after puring my phone book it can't sync again somehow and I have to even delete/add account again or disable contacts sync with exchange and enable it again.
Finally I've done hard reset of defy and start-over. The very first thing I've done after HR was to add Google and Exchange account and check if problem still persists on fresh system without any added software. Of course it still persists
For reference - Google account don't have this "issue" - only exchange have.
And now maybe the most important thing. This issue most probably happened after I upgraded my Defy from 2.1 to 2.2.2 throught official MSU (Motorola Software Upgrade). I can't be 100% sure that both things had their place in exact same time but for 80% they was. Maximum difference in time between upgrade and contacts issue is less than two weeks.
Finally it maybe some huge bug in Corporate Sync function in Froyo - OR Motorola has a huge bug in their BLUR software. Anyway it's very strange that no one reported that before. My phone is running stock firmware so it's no different like any other bought in Orange.
Hope anyone can give me any advice or help with it,
Regards
Exchange contacts every reboot of phone
Hi
did you solve this problem? I have the same issue every time I switch my phone off. Much to my demise when I went abroad without roaming data. I switch my phone on in the arrival hall and boom no contact in my exchange. Had no contact until I got back home. Disaster!
Unfortunatelly I did NOT. However I have a workaround for that. You can find on market app called TouchDown. It costs about $20 but does its job. Just disable synchronizing contacts by build-in exchange synchronization mechanism and let it do by TouchDown. The issue with TouchDown is that you have to edit/create/delete contacts from TouchDown application rather than from build-in contacts manager, otherwise it won't be synced to exchange.
Help: VZW Galaxy Nexus Contacts and Gmail "Sync is currently experiencing problems"
My new nexus will not sync contacts or gmail. I get the error "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly." I have tried clearing the cache on both apps and restarting the phone, but the error reoccurs. It has synced some contacts (58 of 141). But the error remains, and the rest of the contacts do not appear, even after choosing to display "all contacts".
Can anyone help?

I'm seeing the same thing, though it's only affecting my synched bookmarks. If you go into settings > Accounts & Sync, it'll have an exclamation by the problem child/children. Uncheck whatevers not working and your contacts should finish in theory. I was able to get all my contacts.
Last time I restarted after a cache wipe, contacts gave the error, but gmail synced for a long time before giving the error. This time, contacts again errored right away, but gmail is still syncing. I'm hoping it will finish this time, and then I'll work on getting the contacts to sync.
I've checked the syncing on my other android devices and there are no problems there, so I don't think it's a problem with the servers.
I actually had the same problem when I wiped my touchpad last night. unchecked and rechecked and it started working again.
Well I hope it's temporary, but I'd really like to get it fixed. Does anyone know how long it usually takes to sync gmail? It's been going for over 30 minutes now.
Bump for a fast board, I still need help with this. I just formatted the cache in recovery and the problem came back immediately.
Edit: I deleted my google account and readded it and it seems to be working, sorry for the bump. I hope this helps someone else.
Unfortunately mine is still broken and I've tried everything. Adding it back in doesn't help. I'm using "[email protected] and my email will not synch even though others do. I have other gmail accounts that are synching just fine. What's up Google??? Man this is frustrating; the email account I actually need most is not working.
I just got my wife a Nexus, and I have been getting the sync error, along with a pop-up saying "unfortunately contacts have stopped working". Gmail is working fine, it's just contacts. This started happening after unlocking, rooting, and installing Codename ROM. I'm running Codename on my Nexus without problems. I unrooted, and relocked hers, and it seemed to be fine. Went back to unlocked, rooted, and Codename, and the problem came back. I'm going to try the previous versions of Codename, and Nova Launcher to see if it makes a difference, but if anyone has any more info about this, I'd like to hear about it.
Thanks
Hey guys, hope all your day is all great!
I have a bit of an issue with google calendar. I log into my Google account as per normal on Lollipop and everything syncs fine, except my calendar. I can get back into the account settings and i look through everything that i can sync, and calendar just doesn't show up. I have had this problem on a couple Lollipop ROMS, and i fixed it last time, but i can't for the life of me remember how. I've been trying to figure out this for a few days now, and I'm stumped even after all my research. I could be missing something so simple. But I have done the basics, remove the account, put it in again, put in two accounts, (seconds account wont work with calendar either) . The works.
Any help would be awesome.
Thanks,
Brad
bump anyone?
