Hey so I used rumrunner and got all the goodies and installed the beanstalk CM based ROM which I'm loving so far. The problem is I wanted to flash a new splash screen so I connected the One to my PC and it won't recognize like it did on the stock ROM. I tried on my laptop as well with the same problem (phone will charge but no USB mass storage or ADB). I went into developer options and made sure that USB debugging was ticked with no avail. I also did the basic stuff like reboot my pc and used a different cable. ADB is definitely installed on my desktop because rumrunner worked with no problems so I'm not sure if it's this specific ROM or something that I need to work out in the settings or recovery (which I'm not very used to coming from the OG razr with an sd). I looked everywhere in the HTC forums and couldn't find a topic about this for the One. Also I tried to post this issue in the beanstalk ROM thread but it wouldn't let me post because I have too few total posts. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

That was actually my problem. UNchecked debugging and now it mounts perfect
Wow that actually worked! Well for usb storage at least. Only thing is it didn't show up as adb in device manager. I'll check it out when I get back from class to be sure.
I created a thread a few days ago about this...might be the same thing or at least related.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2474349
It has to do with how the sd card is formatted - check my last post in that thread.
OK so I finally got a chance to try ADB and I figured it out. For some reason when USB debugging was ticked on the initial ROM boot and connect to computer, it didn't get recognized at all. I did what bdelcamp said and unticked USB debugging and it mounted as a storage device but ADB still wasn't showing up so I went to the USB mount setting and unticked the mount as storage option and then went back into developer settings and reticked USB debugging and ADB was finally recognized. Weird. Anyway I flashed a new splash screen with no problems. Thanks guys!!

For some odd reason, I lost adb functionality (i.e. any adb command issued receives "error: device not found"). I looked in Device Manager and noticed that MyHTC was gone! I looked at my phone and USB debugging was enabled and in charge only. I could put it in USB Drive mode and the PC would recognize it as a USB Mass Storage Device so that I could exchange and view files but no adb.
I searched and searched on this issue for hours and installed over a half a dozen "androidusb.inf" driver files several times over. Every install generated the Code 10 error where Device Manager was lacking some information from the driver file and could not start the device. I reinstalled HTC Sync and gave that a try...nothing. Downloaded USBDeview and uninstalled all HTC drivers including the HTC Android USB Device and tried again to no avail. WTF?! What else am I supposed to do?
Well, in a "what the hell, let's give it a try" kind of moment, I decided to toggle the USB debugging off and then back on (and yes, it was checked and on the whole time). WORKS!!! WHAT THE CRAP?!! MyHTC is back in Device Manager and everything is back to normal. I'm glad but irritated!
I share this story in hopes that if someone else stumbles on this problem, they will not have to go through the same headache as I did. Just thought this was odd considering how many times I have plugged and unplugged and never had any problems with adb.
Toggle USB Debugging....so simple. *rolleyes*
Same Issue
I've got the same issue on my EVO 4G. Just installed the latest CM7 and now it tell me device not recognized. If I manually install the drivers it gives me the same code 10. I can't bring up the phone as a storage device and toggling the debugging is not working. Any ideas?

You installed the hboot drivers correctly?
Boot into recovery, with usb debugging enabled, connect to pc, it should install the drivers.
Still the same
Even when I reboot into recovery it still gives me "USB Device not recognized." I previously had MikFroyo on my phone with no problems. I'm at a loss.

You most likely have a bad cable, do you have another one you can try?
Possibility
Not at the moment but that may explain it. Still seems weird for it to just go out right as I change to CM7, but still a possibility. I am going to run and grab my other cable. Thanks for the advice.
No Luck
The new USB cable didn't fix the problem. Also, in device manager, even with the driver installed its labeled as "unknown device."
If I boot into hboot the computer recognizes it.
**update: After rebooting from the hboot, my phone is recognized by the computer however, a disk drive is not coming up in "my computer." I have USB storage turned on but Im not getting anything.**
Any help would be much appreciated!
Sad Day
Apparently the Micro USB port on the bottom of my phone is going bad... I talked with some other people who've had the same problem. HTC knows that the ports aren't very sturdy as well. Well... sad day for me.
Also if you're getting the notice from windows saying that you your device will run faster in a 2.0 usb port and you know the port is 2.0 ... chances are your port is going bad as well.
*****UPDATE*****
Flashed to MikFroyo and none of the above stated problems. I would venture that it was CM7 but apparently everyone else is able to use it so who knows.
I recently updated my kindle with the AOSP 4.2.2 rom found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2041694
it works perfectly and smooth, but the device no longer shows up as mass storage when plugged into my pc. I looked through all the settings and enabled the developers menu, but I still do not see an option to turn on mass storage. USB debugging is activated when its plugged in but there is no option to turn storage on. Does anyone else have the same rom/problem. I am unable to post in the developers section so Im hoping I can get more info here. I would hate to have to install a different rom.

Hmm......I know from personal experience (happened yesterday) that the USB cord might be at fault but that's one of many possibilities. I experienced the same problem, switched cords and it connected after I used a different cord.
Have you tried to connect in TWRP?
BTW.....what operating system is your PC running?

I did not try a different cable. I put my old rom (AOKP 4.1) back on and USB storage worked again, but disappeared once I put the 4.2.2 rom back. It always worked flawlessly with the old rom. The computer I tried this on is running Linux Mint 14.

If you looked for this feature in Developer options, then I would say 99% you were looking at the wrong place.
Get into Storage -> Menu and turn on the UMS from there.
i have the same problem, update my kindle to 4.2.2 aosp and when conect to pc (w7) no recognize, dont appeairs, and a not find a option in configuration

Sorry to sound lazy but if it's not too much trouble, why not just stay with a ROM that connects?

I looked in all the standard menus before enabling the developers options. Seeing now, that Im not the only one, Im assuming it might not be enabled in the rom.
I just had to flash my kindle back to stock so I can exchange it, but ill take another look at it when I get my new one.

This didn't work when I tried it, but I did find the answer. Under setting> Storage, I had to pull up the additional menu in the top right corner and enable mass storage. In previous ROM's I used it was in plain sight under the storage menu. Thanks for the reply.
im not sure if ive been looking in the wrong places but i cant find an answer to my problem. so i rooted my nexus 7 about a week ago and installed twrp. everything was working fine until i accidentally pressed wipe data instead of factory reset. i deleted EVERYTHING on my tablet including my operating system, the only thing left was twrp :crying: today my otg usb cable came in and i installed that unofficial cyanogenmod build and now it wont connect to my pc. i have usb debugging on and everything. i go to device manager (on my pc) and it is listed as "Nexus 7" but when i try to install the usb drivers it says that they dont work for it. how can i get the usb drivers to work again?
Note: its not my pc cause my rooted s3 works just fine with my pc.
sorry for being a noob! and thanks for the help!
I actually have the same issue where my Windows won't let me navigate my N7 as a portable device. Tried a whackload of drivers and the like to no avail. To transfer files I just end up using ES Explorer. Funny enough, ADB in recovery works just fine.
If it is the same as PA and PAC, try Settings > Storage > Press Menu > USB > Check MTP

Were you on stock before you wiped? Trying going back to stock and see if you can get MTP working, then start introducing the parts until you figure out what broke.
The USB IDs for the MTP device change more often than you'd expect causing recognition problems.
For example, on stock, with USB debugging enabled, it advertises one USB ID and also sends out a MTP-compatible flag. When USB debugging is disabled, a different USB ID is sent, minus the MTP-compatible flag.
I helped someone on a different ROM force the MTP device drivers to associate, but then the drivers couldn't initialize the device. This might indicate there is a problem on the ROM side.

If your ADB works in recovery then you must have installed some other adb device driver, other than Google's, at some point.
If you want I can try helping you get things recognized on this thread

this
Hey guys. I been here for like 4 hours just dabbling with everything. And cannot seem to find any solution to this...
I have uninstall all drivers and restarted like ten times now doing the same process over and over, cleaning up each file carefully of the nexus or any android device.
My problem is when i plug in my nexus 7 2nd gen, it seems to not even detect squat.
I have usb debug enabled
my MTP is on
( if i switch to PTP i can access the folder)
Ive done fresh start on everything i even look through device and try changing the option to MTP and STILL DOES not work
I don't even see my nexus 7 in my HDD external or anything, nothing pops up but an ADB success driver, and when i changed it to MTP a MTP success driver with STILL no luck....
I just bought it today and it worked fine earlier, now when i root it and stuff it seems to be glitchy with my MTP
I even factory reset everything i couldn't access my ADB
any help would be appreciated
Someone said that manually updating the adb usb driver in devices should show you a choice, choose mtp. It should then sort itself out properly.

On your Nexus, open "settings", click on "Storage", click on options(3 vertical dots on the top right corner), click on "USB PC Connection", now check MTP option.
Try connecting to your PC (or Mac) now. I didn't have to do that on a stock build, but for some reason I had to do it on a couple of custom roms. Hope it helps ya out...
Try enabling USB debugging. I know it sounds odd but its helped me with my devices.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4
do this only if you can see PTP on PC
On PC check device manger, on Android if there is ADB driver - uninstall it
On N7 set to MTP, debug off and reboot with N7 USB cable connected to PC
It should re-install the ABD drivers on PC before N7 fully boots up
You will be back in action.

Actually for me, it's the opposite. If usb debugging is on I can't access the device to view files. Try disabling it?
yea thanks though everyone I got it to work. I had my old nexus and new drivers mixing up my ports for some reason not being able to access it at all
hello fellow users need some help
everytime i connect my Gpad through USB it fails to install MTP and so i cant "see" my tablet on Windows Explorer
my tablet is rooted if that helps in anyway
Thanks
Was curious if you ever found a fix for this. My tablet will not show up on the pc to copy files back and forth need a fix

yes, tried that. tried different USB cables, installing/reinstalling usb drivers. I copy shows and things to my tablet to watch and It used to work, but it hasnt in some time and it kinda sucks having to power off tablet and pull sd card out to copy to it. Just getting frustrated with it. I even reset the device and updated it to android 5
Running through options, sounds like the computer. Can you hook up your phone?
Yea, phone shows up ok and just for the hell of it plugged tablet into laptop and it came up fine so i guess i have to figure out what is wrong with my desktop
