Sounds fair?

http://mashable.com/2012/09/30/smartphone-camera-shootout/
Sounds very bias. Mashable probably got paid lol.
My friends with iPhone 5 were jealous of my camera. I'm not saying that our phone is better. I think iPhones cameras are nice, but never got to make a side by side comparison personally. But from my iPhone 5 friends reaction to my camera, i doubt that their camera is that much more superior as this article is pointing out

I think theirs is better but the ios6 prolly holding the camera back as well.
Gizmodo, a predominantly Apple-friendly site says the S3 has a superior camera to the iPhone 5.

Mm it doesn't matter at the end as long as you happy with the pictures it produce guys, just to be fair the iPhone 5 does takes r pictures in the dark and I'm happy with the s3 tho, im more excited for the new lumina for my secondary line

Cant focus on note 2 screen?

Hi all, just purchased a note 2, and i am havibg difficulty with the screen, i find it blurry and hard to look at, compared to the note 1 which is crystal clear to me, so it cant be my eyes, soon as i switch back to the note 2 uts just blurry again.
Pictures are fine, but the menus are a tad blurred, and writing is terrible.
My device or all note 2's ?

Sounds like your Note has a fault, screen is definitely crisp and beautiful to look at as well as read from.

Its just I read online that txt is not as clear on the note 2s screen, I really need to compare it to sombody elses rather than send it back straight away.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Ok I just changed the font and its a tad better, but its no where near as crisp as a note one. Bigger and more colourfull yes, but not as good for txt and reading.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Initially I had the same impression that my isn't as crisper like my S2, but on the duller side. I've attached a full size landscape screenshot, do you think it looks dull or non crispy?

I'm thinking of buying a Note II but...

Hello guys i'm planing to buy a Note II this week. I've heard that the display of Note II is almost awful. So I Google'd it a little and found some comparisons between One X, S3 and some others and yes Note II was the worst (the source: http://gizmodo.com/5960289/htc-droid-dna-vs-iphone-5-and-everyone-else-whos-got-the-best-display) I know next years phones will come with 1080p and high ppi but Note II is great too. I've a Galaxy S and i'm pretty bored of it.. so should i wait for something like Galaxy S4 to come out or should i buy a Note II right away? Thanks..
when s4 is released, note3 will be around the corner............so no matter what you wait for, something more superlative will be announced.........
right now, note2 is the best phone out there..you want it or not is your choice
I don't care. I'm going for it no matter what. You in or not?

Yeah the note 2 screen is awful... If you always view it through a microscope.

The article is stupid.
Note 2 has the same resolution as OneX, so if you rescale the dpi (or the font size inside the browser), the sharpness will be no difference compared to OneX, and texts are bigger. With smaller texts, a little bit paying off in sharpness and you have more words in a page, and still pretty readable.
OK, DNA is perfect, but "worst" here is like comparing an core i7 computer to a core i5 computer running Super Mario Bros.

Really!! Side by side with my iphone 4 on the same web page at normal veiwing distance and the text looks practically as sharp as each other. The only difference is the colour tones. Oh, and the fact that I dont have to squint to see everything on my note 2 screen
How about going into a shop and looking for yourself. The note 2 screen is far from awful.
Edited to add iphone 4 comparison..

Thank you guys some of you were very kind some of not so much anyways i've decided to get Note II. I compared Note II with Galaxy S3 and the screen of Note II was much better and brighter than Galaxy S3. Thanks to all.
awful?
try dropping by Samsung stores and carrier outlets so you can try the units. from where I am, they have 1080p movie clips which you can try, and be amazed by its awfulness..
as for S4, it could take another quarter or two until Samsung releases it given the still very successful run of their S3 now sporting 2GB Ram and LTE. which would be spec'd out by the Note III... next thing you know, it's this time of the year 2013!
Buy the Note II and start enjoying it NOW. :good:
Back on topic, I have had the note 1 previously and currently own the one x and the note 2. Yes one x screen is superior but I also absolutely love the note 2 screen. It's extremely good.
Anyone saying otherwise is talking out of their "behind".
P. S I also had the s3 (albeit for a week) , and the note 2 screen blows it out of the water.

Back to OP, as you can see I've had the Note II, the SIII and the One X. The Note II has a goodish screen but very washed out in viewing angles. The best screen I have had is the One X as it has the true HD screen.

I love One X. My friend have one and i've had it for 1 week i must say it was the best screen i've seen on a phone. It's very powerful too but 1gb of ram is just not enough for a heavy ui such as Sense.

Note 2 display is the best in terms of overall quality. HTC is the best in sharpness.
Now, at >10cm, both are the same in sharpness, unless you look at it through a microscope. Now, in terms of color representation, the Note 2 has the crown.
So, TLDR? Same sharpness if at >10cm from the phone, and better color reproduction in the Note 2.

Mine gets washed out, pink tinge on a white background and a blue tint but i wouldnt say thats a flaw as thats a AMOLED think like you said. I had the N7105 EE LTE version. maybe a faulty model? but i had 3 of them and all had this problem
The note screen is good, but you can see the pixels from normal viewing whereas the one x or s3 they're hardly noticeable. But its still a good phone

Front camera blurry

I noticed the s4 front camera isn't as sharp as the s3 or note 2. Anyone else with the other phones that can compare.

Mind sound silly but there is a small protective piece of plastic over the lense that, after 3 weeks, I finally found/removed it.
Sent from my SM-N900T using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I would have to agree, I think you need to see if the plastic protector is still on the lens. I removed mine about 3 days after I got the phone. I was taking pics that looked exactly like yours do, and finally found the clear plastic protector and removed it.
Cannot locate a plastic protector on my lense. The galaxy s4 did have one though.

I'm with you, the camera on this phone sucks ass. I don't know if it's software, hardware or combination of the both. Takes too long to focus, whether image stabilization is on or not, trying to take pictures of your kids? Forget it with this camera, images come out too blurry. I like the smooth motion option on the video camera though.....

Yeah, I saw a thread not too long ago that it's a manufacturing defect, but I rooted with one of the first ways to available, so, tripped knox
I think its the case causing the ghosting and light bleeding. I can see reflection's around lenses bezel and plastic case.

The phone isn't so great at taking night shots with flash IMO. A bit too soft and not as sharp and clear as my s4. The only solution I found was to use another camera app for these type of shots. I settled on Camera Awesome on the play store. Pictures come out the same and sometimes better than my s4 with night shots with flash.

I just tried the Camera Awesome and all it did was say I needed to insert an sdcard before using the camera ??
No other apps have this memory issue
Just took a picture in daylight a cloudy day and check out what the duck looks like! Unreal, total over exposure on the white. Was set on auto with no flash.

Aside from plastic on lense, a couple other things to keep in mind/check:
Camera Mode (Auto, Night Mode, etc)
Focus point (ie. when you tap on screen to focus the picture are you focusing on the actual light or the subject that you want to capture)
Cleaned lense (sometimes a dirty or scratched lense will produce noise images)
Case, which you mentioned (have you tried taking same or similar pics not behind windsheild and without the case in question)
Last, but not least, the camera comes defaulted at 9 MP (vs 13MP advertised). Have you tried setting camera to 13MP and seeing if the quality differs?
Those are all things I would check/keep in mind. My indoor performance hasn't been stellar but I know it depends on scenario. Also, using flash at night will always negatively impact your photo quality.
I would take it in for an exchange. Dont mention anything about if you tripped knox or anything. Just show them the images. I for one bought this phone for the camera and love the pics. They blow my wifes iPhone out of the water and when compared to my bosses LG G2, I still think the Note 3's is better. Sounds like you got some hardware issues.
I was focusing on the duck when I took the image. Will try with case off. I cannot locate any lenses protector on lense. It was clean. Thanks for the tips
