I think 4 inch would have been good last year by now is seems to small, I owned most high end smartphones, I think the one x has the best screen yet, and the Samsung s3 feels really good in the hand, the One S is better looking then the iPhone 5 IMO, but what I prefer now for my second phone is probably the new nokia windows phone it looks really good (including the OS), the only good thing about the iOS in general are the apps IMO, I never have a problem on my ipad or iPhone playing gta and I do sometimes on my GS3, I also miss tweetbot on my gs3 but I prefer jelly bean at the moment I can't wait till we get the official from Samsung

Samsungs got it in the bag with sgs3 and note 2 ....keeping the excitement alive with new innovation instead of flipping the old one around like Apple is doing. Seriously i was expecting much more from Apple they certinally have enough money to try new stuff so why arent they? i guess they are done, they are being blinded by the few ignorant sheep that call them "god" of phones. What about smart people who know their was something better from the G1 days,Apple cant compete i guess.

I would attribute the difference in software performance to the fact that companies put most of their resources into iOS development first then android. So you get a much more refined software on ios then you would on android.
It's honestly a flop. The back of the device is cute but besides that.. 4 Inch 4s. Same exact design and everything. I knew it was going to be bad but not this bad lol. I'm not even a legit Apple hater because i wanted the first Iphone (don't you lie and say you didn't want it when it first came out). Pretty funny though to be honest since i've been saying the 5 would be this ever since the rumors began like last year. :highfive: The ONLY thing i can honestly say apple wins over android is Apps. Been saying it for years even though i'm an android fan it's just the honest truth. The apps are better and always comes out first on IOS.
All-in-all a pretty standard upgrade across the board in typical apple fashion.
FINALLY the screen is at least somewhat larger. Fit and finish as always looks to be top notch. The single dynamic antenna is cool. I'm sure the new A6 processor will benchmark impressively. The camera looks to be even better and will likely be the best on a smart phone for the time being.
Some disappointments would be the lack of NFC technology (which Apple holds a lot of patents on, I would expect it to be integrated in two years on the new hardware model or next years refresh at the earliest), and the fact that battery life appears to be the same as the 4S (no improvement), new connector is kinda a bummer (although it was definitely time to upgrade)
Overall its a pretty substantial spec/hardware bump all around, and since people still buy them in droves I don't think Apple had much reason to do much of anything else.
A lot of the improvements are also part of iOS 6, the biggest of which appears to be seamless facebook integration from nearly anywhere.

Very true, which is why it was such a sigh of relief when all the GSIII's in the U.S. have identical specs.
In addition to a more refined software experience, the huge iPhone user base using essentially the same phone ensures that when a breakthrough app is conceived it will inevitably be made for iOS first and foremost in nearly all cases

To be honest I bough the GN because of the large screen... my old iPhone was just too small for my hands. Now with the iPhone 5's bigger screen I guess I'll have to see how much the extra screen real estate makes a difference, I doubt much as far as typing goes though due to the same width!
Because it means l'm not easily fooled by bull**** products.

I traded my Epic Touch for this phone. Mainly for the pure Google greatness that is the Nexus Project. I got sick of having a phone that I had to mod out of the box to be mildly satisfied with. Having a phone that starts with AOSP is a wonderful thing. As for the iPhone. I will never knowingly buy an apple product. I try to stay as informed as I can and by doing that I just cannot buy a product from a company I truly hate. After having this phone for a few weeks I can say this. As long as Samsung makes the nexus. I will never buy a non nexus phone again.

The worse battery life...
The iphone 5 has a stupid aspect ratio on the screen. They also kept the width the same while increasing the length LOL? Viewing pictures on it must be odd..I can care less about the A6 processor and the new camera.

Gotta say after playing with one first hand...im SUPER dissapointed with the camera. Im an android faithful through and through, but I compared the pictures side by side with an iphone 4s and wow what a difference. you can zoom in so much farther and the pictures are so much clearer on the 4s. I was freaked out by this because they touted the 13MP camera, and it just doesnt deliver. It honestly looks more akin to my galaxy nexus camera quality wise. Just thought I would weigh in on my experience.
this along with the locked bootloader unfortunately might push me away from this phone.

So I sold my S3 (which I really regret) in anticipation for the N4. I couldn't get one on launch and theyve been sold out in the UK play store ever since.
I'm kind of glad I didn't get one now. I was always concerned about teething issues and 16gb bothered me.
Today I decided to get a GN off eBay as a stop gap. Besides the camera, it is a wonderful device. I like the build and I love the pure black front. I'm also a sucker for amoled screens. I've used my brothers one fairly extensively and with 4.2 it seems like a really "complete" device.
My plan is to keep the GN for around 6 months. At that point I'm hoping Google are going to do an N7 and release a 32gb model. Only at that point will I pick an N4 up.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting it, and for the first time since my S1, having a device which I can run 100% working AOSP rooms on.

Cool story
I think you'll really like it. I've had mine for about 3 weeks - got it for a steal on eBay right after the Nexus 4 was announced. When I got it, it looked completely unused.
Anyway, even the camera doesn't bother me. It's as good as any other cell phone camera I've ever used though I suppose it's not the best out there (HTC or Nokia most likely have those). Still what I use my phone camera for is stuff that winds up downsized on Facebook anyway. If I want to take nice photos, that's what my Canon EOS T3 is for.
Yea it is not a bad decision. The camera really does not bother me at all because it actually takes great pictures. Overall it is the software mix with the mp that produce great shots so the 5mp only sounds bad but quality is pretty good imo. The development is amazing as well with all the new 4.2.1 Roms coming out
Also depends on how much you got the gnex for thou?

I think I've made a good decision for the meantime. I played with stock 4.2 on the gnex and I absolutely loved it. Android has come so far from eclair, which is what I started on.
And I don't care what anyone says about amoled, the pure black with saturated neon blue on the gnex is sexy as hell.
Only thing is gaming, but for anything serious I much prefer to use the N7. I'm sure the gnex will cut it for temple run etc!

I totally agree. I hear a lot of people *****ing about the displays on this phone, but I have to disagree, especially after a minor color tweak. Punchy colors (but not too punchy), super dark blacks, 320ppi (pentile be damned it still looks great)..I find myself just staring at my home screen sometimes which features a city scape at night recolored with a rainbow like effect, it just really shows all the strengths of this screen.
Certain shades of gray are the weakness, but I rarely encounter them, and the rest of the time it just looks great, so I really don't care.

sell gnex then buy iphone = 1 less fanboi on xda??
I sat a couple of days ago with a N4 in my cart, with a ship date of 1-2 weeks...but something just didn't seem right to me. It was $350 I didn't really have to blow, but I really needed to get something going because my company is kicking everyone off their Verizon corporate plan at the end of the month.
I've been a Galaxy S I (Fascinate) user for the past 2 years, and I wanted to stay with a Galaxy family. I have been researching using a GSM GNex for T-Mobile Prepaid. So, I bailed on the N4, with the hopes that I could find a good deal on a GNex (I knew I could get a "like new" one from Amazon for $300).
Then my Fascinate died. My Galaxy S1 that I've babied and taken such good care of it's whole life....now in a endless bootloop with no USB access whatsoever to flash anything new to it. Oh well, I was going to have to send it back to corporate next week anyway. Still, I haven't been without a mobile for more than a day in a long time.
Somehow luck was on my side. The very next day, a local man posted his "like new in box" GSM Gnex for $200, and I pounced. Met him during his 2nd shift workbreak and bought it immediately. Got it home and shoved my T-Mobile SIM in there, and completed the activation and number port online. Took them about 8 hours (overnight) to port my number from the corporate plan.
I'm thrilled with my decision. I love the look, feel and quality of the GNex..and the step up in speed and smoothness from my Fascinate (that was running CM10 nightlies) is immense! I'll probably end up using this for a year or two and pick up one of the next generation Nexus phones (maybe a Google/Motorola Nexus?), skipping the LG N4.

Really? You think I haven't used a retina iphone? I have, quite a bit. Yeah, it's good, but bleh color and bleh black level, and come on, minuscule in size. Way worth the tradeoff of pentile thanks, especially at these resolutions. I would agree with the old 480x800 pentiles, but 320 ppi is damn small, and the downsides to pentile are hard to see at best. So, in the real world the Nexus screen imo looks much better.
Especially while looking at pictures or watching movies. The GNex is amazing compared to iphone 4's 'it's sharp but meeh'.

I personally still think the HTC One is superior to the G2. When comparing One to the S4, well the One hands down since the S4 is locked down right now.
i debated the same thing about a month ago. I am very happy with the ONE. I went with the one mostly because I was afraid about the lack of cases available for the verizon one. The VZW back is different than other G2s. I held both in store and the superior build qualtiy of the one put me over the edge.
development is much better on the G2 at the moment though.
Im happy with my decision.
I have played with a few of the other flagship phones like the S4 and the G2, and hands down the One takes the prize. In my opinion, that is.

I had the S4, and the G2, and still prefer the HTC One. Maybe its the look of the UI itself, but I thought the S4 and G2 were almost the same. both very cheap cartoony looking. I was also not a fan of the back buttons at all.
There are so many USEFUL suprises on the HTC One that I have used more in a week, then the unneeded special stuff on the S4 that I had for over 2 months. I am VERY happy that I got the HTC one and sold the S4. And I wasnt even rooted on the One or S4.

I was really iffy about the camera as well since i owned the s4 at the same time. HOWEVER, granted the s4 has a much higher megapixel the One camera has a far more accurate color replicatiion. The only downside to the One cam is cropping and zooming on a photo. If you are okay with a image that comes out in excellent quality when printed at its natural size(close to 8x12 i think) then you will be good to go.

I am about to send my one in to have the camera replaced. The purple haze and the camera is constantly focusing but other than that the one has been flawless.

How long have you had yours? Is there a certain batch that had the bad camera? I've also read that some users have fixed it with another rom, or the 4.3 update. It all seems messy and no clear answer in sight.
