[MOD] Remove Location Icon ( UPDATE: 12/17/2013) - Verizon HTC One (M7)

Since there was not one posted i decided to post a Remove Location Icon flashable zip file for those who just decide to stay stock de-bloated.
The update script is by andybones, and i modified the apk.
This will work with stock, and deodex, roms as long as you have no other modifications are made in the systemUI.apk
I also included the stock file as well.
Flash in recovery and wipe the dalvik-cache, reboot, SUCCESS !
There are Three files. The Remove_Location.zip will work for both odex and deodex roms.
For odex roms it deletes the odex file and replaced it with a deodex version. It will work just fine don't stress out about it....
The other two are stock deodex and stock odex. If you want to go back make sure you use the right one!
UPDATE(12/17/2013): I added the 2.10.605.1 update mod..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48592241&postcount=31
UPDATE(11/21/2013): I added the .15 update mod as the systemUI.apk is not the same for that update .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47683138&postcount=28
UPDATE(10/16/2013): I Fixed the code so as the Beats icon is not " floating in space " as someone so put it.
Please read here before flashing http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46812076&postcount=24
Enjoy

He's talking about that annoying GPS symbol that Verizon decides to add next to the signal bars.

so this doens't actually remove the icon. it just makes it a clear icon. now my Beats logo is floating in space. I'm gonna undo this

I corrected this problem, and the code is now fixed !

Is it still a blank icon that just now AFTER the Beats icon, or is it really space freed up for other notifications?

I don't have that behavior myself on my device after flashing as seen in the posted screenshot. Anyone else ?
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using xda app-developers app
Edit:
Note that even though the modification to the systemUI.apk smali code should set the icon to a with of zero, the actual location of those icons are in the same file
Those were technically removed on my first attempt, which yielded the blank space between the beats icon and 4G symbol or whatever else. That b/c I didn't take into account the smali code in systemUI.apk
Now on my device theI just applied the systemUI.apk modification which just set the width of the ' clear ' location icon to zero which made the space disappear. I have tested this several times by replacing the original systemUI.apk and systemUI.odex files and then re-flashing the modified one and it functions as shown in the OP screenshot.
I also compared the MD5 checksum with the one I flashed vs the one I downloaded from here in case i accidentally messed up and they are identical.

I was going to say, that those status bar mods are not stock
The SystemUI.apk holds some of the icons for the statusbar, and the systemUI.apk hold the codes that control the blank space between the 4G icon and the beats icon that is where the blank space was.
Those are the files that were modified by me, the first being accidental leaving the space between the beats icon and the 4G symbol, and the later resolved the space

Either way, I had the space previously with your first mod and flashed the updated zip and the space is gone. Thanks for the fix!

Cool, no problem, I am glad it is resolved .

I like the clcok and battery mods there. I wish there was an easy way to do that while keeping the stock ROM. there's no custom ROMs for this phone yet that I've fallen in love with. Bone Stock was good for a While, but even that one I found myself going back to true stock ROM and just debloating it myself.

I would have to agree with you here.
Now IF Verizon would get the message about bloatware maybe some of us might not need to root!

May I also request a WiFi notification removal mod ? Thanks !

[Q] Battery Percentage Indicator?

Is there something I can flash through CW that will give me a percentage instead of a bar for my battery indicator in my notification bar? I'm currently using SenseGinger v3.0 (2.3/Sense) by Team Villain. Any help would be appreciated.

Kitchen working just fine and bellow is a proof of my words:
Flashable .zip for GingerVillan 1.5 only (make sure to do Nandroid Backup before flashing)
Can you explain how you did that?
C'mon guys, it's pretty well explained in their website - http://uot.dakra.lt/how_to/
If you go to the kitchen website, you basicallly choose the options you want and then you click submit after you've put in everything that you want i.e. battery indicator, scroll glow, and etc. Then you have to wait while the kitchen puts it together and then it'll give you the zip file which you just flash through clock work and you're done. I believe there is also a how to section on the kitchen website. This thing is brilliant. It made senseginger 3.0 the best rom. Now if someone would come out with a kernel that would work for this rom so that I can over clock this bad boy that would be great.

So I made the battery mod, but I can't submit it to the kitchen.
Can someone help me?
Have you uploaded SystemUi.apk and Framework-res.apk files? If not, do so, then select mod/mod's you like and only then click on "submit".
I'm a total noob in this stuff, where can I find those files?
While I am not rooted, I use Zbox from the market. It has a number of utilities in one package with menu bar indicators and battery % is one of them.

[APP] 'ODEX ME': Odexing deodexed roms for a BOOST IN PERFORMANCE

Hello Galaxy Nexus Xda Users!
Informations:
Here is a simple apk to odex automatically, easily and securely deodexed roms.
This apk has been coded by the famous Paul Obrien from Modaco Roms and Forums.
This guy is just a genious.
The original apk has been done for Galaxy S II but it works on Galaxy Nexus (tested working). --> Original thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1215271
Paul is even using it in his own Galaxy Nexus 4.0.4 Custom Rom here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1487056
But I tested the apk on other 4.0.3 deodexed roms that you can find in the development section of the Galaxy Nexus and it is working perfectly (Aokp odexed rom is wonderful...)
Odexing a deodexed rom is giving you a boost in smoothness (you can see it in the launcher or in scrolling through system apps), performance and battery.
It gives you the flexibility to have a custom rom with modified system, framework and design AND all the tweaks that come with a custom rom in addition to the performance of an odexed stock rom.
To use it:
1) make sure you have a custom rooted rom / kernel with init.d support (scripts must be able to run at boot: it is a folder in /system/etc). It is very important or it won't run pre-boot scripts... Thanks to open1your1eyes0 who remarked it.
You can try this useful application to add init.d support to your ROM / kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1933849
2) make sure that you don't have transparent status bar before odexing or you will loose your bar after odexing... (for AOKP users for example). Thanks to frantic912 who noticed it.
3) simply put the apk in /system/app folder with a file browser like "Root Explorer" (the folder must be in RW mode to copy the file)
4) do a nandroid backup in cwm and / or titanium backup of all your apps (even the system ones like Gmail)
5) then go to the launcher
6) tap "Odex me"
7) follow the instructions
It will:
1) reboot your phone
2) odex all the system staying on a black screen or on the Google screen a bit longer than normally (but it's normal)
3) put a ".odex" file with each app in /system/app
4) reboot again
5) go back to home
--> You will then see your boost in smoothness!
For people who are not convinced: check that: http://android.stackexchange.com/qu...e-difference-between-odexed-and-deodexed-roms
To see if it worked:
- Go to /system/app folder and see if there is a ".odex extension" for each system apk.
I attached the apk to this thread for ease of use.
Please write here your tests, opinions, questions, and thank Paul (and me for giving you this info ) for this wonderful and simple apk.
P.S. Please read reports from other users in the thread before trying the apk as some users seem to loose their status bar if they set transparency effects or some of them are having "force closes" if the rom they are using is too much themed...
P.S.2. Pay attention please, as androidphone2012 intelligently noticed, this apk can only odex *.apk files. The system framework is not odexed by it. To odex the framework too, please use the following script instead. It odexes *.apk files and Framework *.jar files too.
--> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2278586
If you already ran the apk to odex apk files, do not flash that zip: re-flash your ROM, GApps and MODs you're using and then flash the zip.
For your information, I tested the CM10.1 zip from the thread on my AOKP latest nightly build version and it worked flawlessly.
Looks cool. Nothing is attached to your post though.
Can I use it on other devices? (Galaxy si900)
I don't think this works. It rebooted and when I booted back and checked, there were no .odex files in the /system/app folder. Has anyone else got it working?
FYI, tested on 4.0.4 stock deodexed ROM.

So apparently I spoke to soon...
The app ran this time but after the reboot and odex process, my SystemUI wouldn't load and I ended up with no notification bar up top or any soft-keys at all. Also it was back to stock wallpaper. Not sure what happened, it looked like everything went through fine but I guess my SystemUI is borked.
Recovering from backup now...
I am not sure what caused this issue. I did have modded soft-keys and battery icon however, but I don't see why this would matter if a lot of the custom ROMs have modded soft-keys anyway. I would like to point out this was on stocked deodexed 4.0.4 ROM. If this works for anyone else, I would surely like to know. MAKE SURE you backup before trying.
Thank you Flolep
It works great for me, but I don't know why Gmail disappeared. But it's still in /system/app, so I tried to install and I get this : Application not installed

It's a system app so you can't "install" it. It has to be flashed into the ROM. I have a feeling this app is not exactly the most reliable in working with all the apks.

Well. I didn't have any problem with it... Gmail was still there and my framework and system ui didn't have any problem after reboot...
I tried with modaco 4.0.4 rom that is near stock 4.0.4 deodexed rom and I tried with heavily customized aokp latest aokp build 25 rom, configured for my needs, battery percent, toggles, navigation controls in blue, etc, etc, and all worked seamlessly...
I add to first thread to do a nandroid backup before launching the process.

But I definitely will try after back from my vacation, wouldn't risk to brick my device on a trip ;p
I finally found the problem...
I forgot that the custom ROM I'm using needs a sort of modded Gapps pack to be install via CWM.
I think here is the issue.
Worked fine for me. GSM GN on AOKP B25. Just make a backup in cwm before you do it. Worst case scenario: it boot loops, you pop the battery, boot into recovery and restore.

I tried the mod from here: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/29153-mod-411-jelly-bean-soft-key-mods-with-menu-and-search-stockbb/. It worked for me on stock 4.1.1, not sure if it would work for the ROM you're running.
It doesn't mod the battery and adds just the menu key, but it also doesn't put the four nav keys in the order you want.

[MOD] [STOCK] [ODEXED] Enable QuickSettings Statusbar for 2.17 Stock

THIS MOD IS FOR STOCK ODEXED ROMS ONLY WITH 2.17 BASE
This is a small modification I did to my SystemUI.odex in order to enable the quicksettings tab in the notification area of the status bar.
This mod only enables the settings already made by HTC into the ROM. It only unlocks this functionality, nothing more.
I did this for myself, and I thought I could share to all users with stock rom but rooted.
What this MOD do:
Unlocks QuickSettings tab in notifications area
Shows the settings already built by HTC
What this MOD doesn't do:
It is not an Extended Quicksettings MOD
It doesn't provide any additional setting not made by HTC
It can't enable/disable items or change the order of them
It doesn't come with an additional app to customize the items
REQUIREMENTS:
Rooted stock 2.17 rom
Bootloader unlocked
Custom Recovery
INSTALLATION:
Enter into recovery mode and flash the provided zip.
If you don't have recovery or unlocked bootloader, you can't flash this MOD. If requested, I could provide instructions to manually copy the files needed.

I don't want to make a tutorial here. If I do, I'll have to support many issues with tools and enviroments.
But, if you are used to edit smali files, its not really difficult.
(Im not at my PC now, and I cant remember well the names)
I edited StatusBarFlags.smali and enabled HTC_QUICKSETTINGS flag.
I edited QuickSettings.smali and enabled all the options in onFinished method (I left disabled volume because it wasn't very usefull)
Then I odexed the classes.dex with dexopt-wrapper. You could see more info here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9369187&postcount=4

Well saw this in some other thread. That when you have no notification. And you open the bar, the EQS will be shown automaticaly
For example. And man, dont worry, its just a suggestion.
This is not the default behavior of the status bar on stock rom.
I prefer to leave it default here. Otherwise, I should move the thread to the "developement" section Also, I would have to research how to do that modification. Maybe I will some day, it could be usefull

If you have other version, you only neeed to restore your SytemUI.apk back on your rom. To do that just open the zip I did and replace the SystemUI.apk with yours.
If you have 2.17.401.1, please provide logcat message.
I went ahead and installed a custom ROM. I was running latets OTA Orange Poland.

I was going to attempt the transparent app drawer, but i cant seem to get the apk to re-compile using apk tool, it throws all kinds of weird errors, I know what to change to transparent app drawer, but just that stupid apk tool is not working correctly for me.
But I am glad you like.

Thank you very much! I've been looking for something like this ever since I unlocked my phone lolol. However, I think it looks a bit choppy whenever you try to open the app drawer or go into blinkfeed :/ maybe try to make their backgrounds transparent as well? (or is that a bit too overambitious?)

Here is what I found in regards to that. ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2243705 )
Some of the code does not match 100% like in my smali files, and made an educated guess on one line, but i was finally able to properly decompile and edit, and re-compile , but i got the dreaded sense stopped working lol... if it was not for xml edits i would not have to fool with apk tool , but xmls are in binary and damn near impossible to read as is.
I will tinker a bit later , after the last 1.5 hours now and hours earlier today am done thinking about it.

You got to add the code to it if you want to change things like app drawer transparencies, etc... Look a post up or so, that's a pain i cant get it....
All that was done was change transparencies of png files, that's it. I didn't mess with anything else but two files.
Mine runs smooth...
Dumb question do I need to flash this was a custom recovery or just unzip and flash apk please help

Will you can technically do both, i have replaced system apks, but you get a sense crash error i will say 100% of the time for this one, just re-boot after replacing and it should be good provided you have root of course. Its prob easier to boot to a custom recovery if you have one and flash it.
Your choice. NANDROID first if you replace the apk directly
Another dumb question which file do I flash
