[Q] Battery Percentage Indicator? - G2 and Desire Z Themes and Apps

Is there something I can flash through CW that will give me a percentage instead of a bar for my battery indicator in my notification bar? I'm currently using SenseGinger v3.0 (2.3/Sense) by Team Villain. Any help would be appreciated.

http://uot.dakra.lt/ Make sure to read how-to (it's really short and simple).
EDIT: NWM, i made one for you Just make a Nandroid backup before flashing (just in case)

Dude you are frigin phenomenal. Did I mention that I love the irish? Cheers

sorry but didnt work for me, got a boot loop after flashing, I think its cuz I flashed it over gingerVillan 1.5 and not CM. but I thought GV 1.5 is like 70% CM?

That's weird

You can use it ONLY with SenseGinger v3.0 ROM. For other ROMs you'll have to visit the website i mentioned above and make one for your self

its not working, UOT wont let me submit it only with the battery mod.

Kitchen working just fine and bellow is a proof of my words:
Flashable .zip for GingerVillan 1.5 only (make sure to do Nandroid Backup before flashing)

Can you explain how you did that?

C'mon guys, it's pretty well explained in their website - http://uot.dakra.lt/how_to/

If you go to the kitchen website, you basicallly choose the options you want and then you click submit after you've put in everything that you want i.e. battery indicator, scroll glow, and etc. Then you have to wait while the kitchen puts it together and then it'll give you the zip file which you just flash through clock work and you're done. I believe there is also a how to section on the kitchen website. This thing is brilliant. It made senseginger 3.0 the best rom. Now if someone would come out with a kernel that would work for this rom so that I can over clock this bad boy that would be great.

So I made the battery mod, but I can't submit it to the kitchen.
Can someone help me?

Have you uploaded SystemUi.apk and Framework-res.apk files? If not, do so, then select mod/mod's you like and only then click on "submit".

I'm a total noob in this stuff, where can I find those files?

While I am not rooted, I use Zbox from the market. It has a number of utilities in one package with menu bar indicators and battery % is one of them.

[THEME] For any ROM. Yup, any single ROM.

So if your like me and like to change the theme's of your phone this is literally the website to do it!
uot.dakra.lt/kitchen <---- Copy/Paste that in your address bar.
It's a theme kitchen and it works on any phone, any ROM, and any version of Android (2.2 , 2.3)
-----------
FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY. I'm not at fault here, they even have a Youtube video on how to do it.
Sorry guys, let me lay things straight before confusion and cyber authority kick in, I DID NOT CREATE THIS KITCHEN. I give ALL credit to the person who put their life into it, please donate to them.
I just saw this on the internet and wanted to share with the XDA family!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay guys, some of you are having trouble with the kitchen, I'll just break down the instructions:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Whatever ROM your CURRENTLY using, open it and find the Framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk
{Remember, it'll only work with your current ROM, flashing it to another ROM will send you in a never ending boot, because I've done that, anyways, if you change ROMS, you need to re-cook the whole theme with your new current ROM's APK's}
2. Choose your selections, generate previews and what not
Froyo ROMS do not support transparent ANYTHING so do not select it. If your on a Gingerbread ROM then your good and you can check 'enable transparency in status bar' in the Status Bar section
3. Upload your APK's in correct order in the 'File Upload' category
4. As soon as step 3 has been performed, go to 'Summary' and hit 'Submit to Kitchen' If a category is red simply go back and generate the preview
5. If you get an error log in the 'Pickup' page, I don't know what happens so sadly you have to go re-cook your ROM again.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guys this should work like a charm with little to no trouble, I'm young and did this with a breeze.
Happy Theme-ing everybody!
Screen shots please =]

Great find and thanks for sharing it in the G2 community, best way to theme a rom with your own personal preferences.
I gave this a try, seems easy & straightforward to use. However, do you have to make a donation in order to submit your created theme to that kitchen?

Will this work with stock rom.
@cubanito151 If you follow the instructions carefully it will.
It works on all roms.
Anyone else having issues with the mods sticking? I only did the battery icon mod and it worked at first but now its gone and back to the stock look.
This is pretty lame that its not sticking and reverts back to the old battery icon.

Is there any way to add battery percentage on top? Like this ..http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1304375
That is no problem, just received my GN adn I will soon work on it. If ICS is not completely different, it`s fairly easy.
Sounds good. The only thing i'm missing (maybe also Extended Power Menu).
Don't understand why Google does not integrate Battery Percentage as standard.

Perka, thanks so much for doing this. It's really useful.
Could someone help me make sense of how to install this? If I'm running the stock ROM, I gather I need the files in "Stock_SystemUI_framework-res_GN_Deodex_ICS.ITL41F-CWM," but then what do I _do_ with the files here? (I see apks I could install, but then there are other files too...)
Also, Perka, you mention a link in your sig to a new version with larger icons, but I can't figure out what link in your signature it would be -- I'm guessing it should be at the "Perka´s File Stash" link, but there doesn't seem to be a link there. (And the other lines in your signature don't seem relevant.)
Thanks!

[MOD] CRT Animation for Captivate Glide I927

Big thanks to
kennethpenn - for this wonderful Enable CRT Animation in Gingerbread guide
CarpeNoctem - for (OsiMood's) update-binary and install-script reference material
Brut.all - for apktool
blast0id - for easyFLASHABLEzipBUILDER
and of course everyone who put in the work to build the foundations on which all of this is built and everyone else I'm forgetting
Without further ado, here is the
CRT Animation for Captivate Glide I927
Here is the install zip for CWM - automatic install
i927-CRT-mod.zip
Here is the framework-res.apk - manual install, use a root file manager to copy to /system/framework/
framework-res.zip
Warning: This is made for the ATT stock rom. It may work on the Rogers rom as well. It may not work on a custom rom, if possible you should find the framework-res.apk specific to your rom, ask the rom creator to make one, or make your own using the guide and resources listed above. To be safe, always make a backup using CWM before installing ANY mod. It only takes a few minutes and can save you hours in the long run.
Disclaimer: Use at your own risk I'm not responsible if you brick your phone, yadda yadda. I have only tested this on an ATT 2.3.6 stock rom with ardatdat kernel. So far it seems to work great and looks awesome. There is a weird effect that if the screen is off and I push the power in for just the perfect number of milliseconds, the screen starts to turn on and then turns itself off again. But I have difficulty trying to get this to happen on purpose so I doubt it will prove much of an issue. It's probably just a quirk of having the CRT animation enabled. Anyway, all of that said,
Enjoy!
UPDATE:
Here are the uninstall files for the ATT 2.3.6 stock rom. All warning and disclaimers above also apply to these so always make a CWM backup first.
Here is the uninstall zip for CWM (reinstalls stock file) - automatic uninstall
i927-CRT-mod-removal.zip
Here is the stock framework-res.apk - manual install, use a root file manager to copy to /system/framework/

Ah well that kind of explains it. I was looking for a thread specific to CRT animation. I did suspect that some of the custom roms would already have it enabled but I wanted to give the stock run a good run for the money before trying any custom roms. Also, having the info in the middle of a custom rom thread doesn't make it very accessible. This thread was geared more towards people with stock roms who wanted an easy, confirmed way of enabling the animation.
Also, I have all signatures turned off in this forum because so many of them were large and intrusive that they were really hurting the readability (imo) of the site.

FYI, this particular mod was not taken from his rom. It was created from the framework-res.apk in my own stock ATT rom and altered using the guide and resources mentioned in the first thread. So while he gets credit for doing it first, none of his work was used in the creation of this mod. (Edit: That I know of. Apologies if I'm mistaken. I'm not trying to rip off anyone's work or belittle anyone's contributions.)

Flashed dman crt but i think my system was corrupted, stucked on bootloop. Done recovery now i´ll try dman.
Sorry about that, this is made specifically for the stock rom. If you have custom rom, you should get the framework-res.apk specific to that rom, as the rom creator may have made other changes as well. I'll edit the first post to make it more clear that this is for the stock rom.
Restored Osimood and flashed crt.zip... no luck.
All the install zip does is copy that one file to your system directory. I think it's absolutely impossible to hard brick from that. Don't you have a CWM backup you can restore?

[MOD] Remove Location Icon ( UPDATE: 12/17/2013)

Since there was not one posted i decided to post a Remove Location Icon flashable zip file for those who just decide to stay stock de-bloated.
The update script is by andybones, and i modified the apk.
This will work with stock, and deodex, roms as long as you have no other modifications are made in the systemUI.apk
I also included the stock file as well.
Flash in recovery and wipe the dalvik-cache, reboot, SUCCESS !
There are Three files. The Remove_Location.zip will work for both odex and deodex roms.
For odex roms it deletes the odex file and replaced it with a deodex version. It will work just fine don't stress out about it....
The other two are stock deodex and stock odex. If you want to go back make sure you use the right one!

I corrected this problem, and the code is now fixed !
Is it still a blank icon that just now AFTER the Beats icon, or is it really space freed up for other notifications?
I don't have that behavior myself on my device after flashing as seen in the posted screenshot. Anyone else ?
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using xda app-developers app
Edit:
Note that even though the modification to the systemUI.apk smali code should set the icon to a with of zero, the actual location of those icons are in the same file
Those were technically removed on my first attempt, which yielded the blank space between the beats icon and 4G symbol or whatever else. That b/c I didn't take into account the smali code in systemUI.apk
Now on my device theI just applied the systemUI.apk modification which just set the width of the ' clear ' location icon to zero which made the space disappear. I have tested this several times by replacing the original systemUI.apk and systemUI.odex files and then re-flashing the modified one and it functions as shown in the OP screenshot.
I also compared the MD5 checksum with the one I flashed vs the one I downloaded from here in case i accidentally messed up and they are identical.

I was going to say, that those status bar mods are not stock
The SystemUI.apk holds some of the icons for the statusbar, and the systemUI.apk hold the codes that control the blank space between the 4G icon and the beats icon that is where the blank space was.
Those are the files that were modified by me, the first being accidental leaving the space between the beats icon and the 4G symbol, and the later resolved the space
Either way, I had the space previously with your first mod and flashed the updated zip and the space is gone. Thanks for the fix!

I was going to attempt the transparent app drawer, but i cant seem to get the apk to re-compile using apk tool, it throws all kinds of weird errors, I know what to change to transparent app drawer, but just that stupid apk tool is not working correctly for me.
But I am glad you like.

Thank you very much! I've been looking for something like this ever since I unlocked my phone lolol. However, I think it looks a bit choppy whenever you try to open the app drawer or go into blinkfeed :/ maybe try to make their backgrounds transparent as well? (or is that a bit too overambitious?)

Here is what I found in regards to that. ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2243705 )
Some of the code does not match 100% like in my smali files, and made an educated guess on one line, but i was finally able to properly decompile and edit, and re-compile , but i got the dreaded sense stopped working lol... if it was not for xml edits i would not have to fool with apk tool , but xmls are in binary and damn near impossible to read as is.
I will tinker a bit later , after the last 1.5 hours now and hours earlier today am done thinking about it.

You got to add the code to it if you want to change things like app drawer transparencies, etc... Look a post up or so, that's a pain i cant get it....
All that was done was change transparencies of png files, that's it. I didn't mess with anything else but two files.
Mine runs smooth...

Will you can technically do both, i have replaced system apks, but you get a sense crash error i will say 100% of the time for this one, just re-boot after replacing and it should be good provided you have root of course. Its prob easier to boot to a custom recovery if you have one and flash it.
Your choice. NANDROID first if you replace the apk directly
Another dumb question which file do I flash
