APN settings? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Has anyone changed their default apn settings and gotten better results, if so, could you kindly post them.
I know this has been beaten to death, but I'm getting awful upload speeds and I have to think someone out there found a good apn tweak for the tmous (preferably in nyc!) settings.
FYI, even on my note 2, i never got great LTE speeds, and always unchecked the LTE setting because i got better speeds on just 4g. The exact same is happening with my note 3, which is pretty frustrating. Tmo said im not being throttled, andf i have unlimited everything so i cant figure otu what the issue is.
any input would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
Jason

Change your APN Protocol into ipv4 ONLY. That will do the trick.

Just create a new APN from the main menu and replicate all of the settings except for the APN protocol field. Then just simply select the new APN the menu.
I'm trying APN protocol: IPv4 now. I doubt it'll make much of a difference where I live, but it's worth a shot.

Sure. Had to be multiple screenshots due to the scrolling though.
It's exactly the same as the factory APN, minus the name and APN protocol fields.
No noticeable change yet though. I have terrible signal in my office to begin with. Will have a better idea if it helps later on.

So I changed mine to IPv4 i use to get around 0.86 mb/s changing it to IPv4 i get 2.00mb/s on LTE... on 4G i get around 15... i had a s4 and a 5s that went faster on LTE...

I use the old apn, the epc.tmobile.com and get better speeds on it.

MMS not sending or downloading

every since i got my GN it has had trouble sending or receiving MMS, doesnt matter if i'm on 3g or wifi
i have tried clearing the cache and force closing, this works about 20% of the time
anyone know of a fix for this?
From what I've experienced and know, you can't only send/receive MMS through 2g/3g, NOT wifi. MMS is a carrier based service, which is why it won't work on wifi. Some roms have the ability to download on Wi-Fi though, don't know of any here, but quite a few on the G2x.
Anyways, how long do you give it to send/receive till you decide that its a "failure"? It would also help to disable "auto retrieve" in the Messaging app.

This issue is most likely related to the apn settings provided by your carrier. I had this issue too, and found out on two separate carriers that I needed data on one, even though it said I didn't. On the other carrier, I just had the APN settings wrong, and that my current carrier allows MMS through 3g data without charging for it.

+1. This.
You need to verify your MMS APN settings with your carrier.

On your phone.

If you want to stay just on 4g and eliminate the phone going edge completely, you can dial *#*#4636#*#* or download an app called "phone info", select Device Information", then halfway down there's a dropdown (currently on GSM auto). Select WCDMA only.
There's also a new radio if you don't already have it that is supposed to be better at holding on to 4g longer

i thought i was the only one. talked to tmobile and got a replacement. it still does it on occasion. One thing i did was to change the APN of the phone to a known T-Mobile alternate. it seems to have fixed the issue. if you change your APN to these settings, no more drops, and no more high ping issues.

Disable lte and force HSDPA on aosp

Hello i am enduring the hurricane and I lost power, peco statement says it could be out for days. I really need to disable lte so I can get data without killing my battery. I already burned a good amount of my battery searching on how to do this but couldn't find anything yet
I'm on aosp so dialing *#2263*# does nothing.
When I try selecting my old HSDPA APN (att) it won't connect to anything. And I when I switch my network mode in data settings it just won't let me select wcdma.
Seriously I need a miracle. I don't have much juice left.. if I don't make it.... send help
Jk I'm not flooded or anything lol i just need internet.
Dial *#*#4636#*#* and choose wcdma preferred.
This doesn't work for me. It just pops right back to lte. I'm on tasks aokp.

Settings>Wireless 7 Networks (More...)>MobileNetworks>Network Type> Choose the one without HSPA one without LTE. Should say something like GSM/HSPA. If this doesn't work then you will need to try something else...
Under those settings I have lte/gsm/wcdma and gsm/wcdma.
I can't switch off the lte one. It just goes back. There is another setting "use 2g networks only" and this also does not work. I am using tasks latest aokp ROM and toonz latest kernel. Maybe i should try another radio?
Using uclh9 radio.

Bump. Does anybody know how I can disable LTE? Tried both methods in this post and i can't disable it.
To do this you also have to set the phone and mms APN. I rememebr a few times on my Note getting it to switch and stay after switching APNs to phone then choosing wCDMA otherwise it just goes back to LTE. PTA will lock you to LTE. Also it may lock to LTE in the radio load.

To change the APN you go to settings > under network click "more" > click Mobile Networks > Access Point Names
But you need to know the APN Settings. Idk what they are for no LTE.
And I have same issue, select wap.cingular and I get no data

Hey guys, if you would like the correct HSPA+ APN to switch to on AT&T, please see my signature and use the APN in the OP of my thread.

FIXED! - No LTE

Hey guys. I'm kinda stuck here. I am getting no LTE service on my phone at all. Of course those idiots at straight talk keep saying im provisioned for it but nope, not getting it. I tried everything I can think of from factory resetting to apn settings and nothing. When I go into my network it bounces between HSAP and HSPAP but no LTE. I live in an LTE service area and was getting LTE up to about a week ago but then suddenly it was gone. Any ideas as to what I can do?
Can ask what are your APN settings?
Sent from my LG-E988 using Tapatalk
The ones ST gave me.
Name - Straight Talk
APN - tfdata
MMSC - http://mms-tf.net
MMS proxy - mms3.tracfone.com
MMS port - 80
I don't understand what's goin on. It just doesn't work anymore for some reason. And ST troubleshooting is non existent. All they tell you is to put in those apn settings and it should work. Well it isn't dumbasses!....lol
Also port :80 . I have straight talk too. Your apn looks right
My wife has the Optimus g and her LTE is working just fine. WITH the same APN settings! The last thing I remember doing was going through the hidden service menu but I didn't change anything in there. There is nothing you can change in there to make your LTE stop working. I know with some phones you can but not with the OGP.

Ok guys. I got the issue resolved. I used this method here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2351041
The only issue I had was for some reason I couldn't manually edit the build.prop. I had to install JRummies Rom Toolbox Lite and that did the trick. It's so nice to have my LTE back!
Thanks for the link. Always liked to manually set to 2g or 4g when lte was weak. One reason I always installed custom roms and didn't stick to stock.

Personally I don't worry too much about it. Being on stock with this phone gets great battery life. So no need to turn off the LTE to conserve battery.

[Q] Help with APN settings

I want to start off by saying sorry for posting with a new account, I know that is frowned upon on forums, but I need help with a phone that isn't even mine and I've been trying to figure this out for a week now. I've searched everywhere and I figured it's time to ask the experts. Here's the story.
So my girlfriend got a Samsung Galaxy S3 (previously on T-mobile, model number T999) used and got a Straight Talk plan. I put in an APN for Straight Talk and everything was hunky dory. She didn't like the battery life so I rooted the phone and put cyanogen mod 11 on it (which is really friggin cool, so happy I did that) but it didn't save the APN settings. This is where I'm a dumbass. I didn't write down the settings and I didn't back up the phone (she doesn't have anything on the phone worth restoring, or so I thought, those precious APN settings were there) so now I'm trying to find the new APN settings. Everyone has a different set that worked for them, I can't get any of them to work. I know that the MCC is 310, but I don't know if the MNC is 410, or 260 (I believe it is 260 because that is a T-mobile MNC) if you don't have the proper numbers then it won't even save the APN settings. I have yet to get any settings to actually save which is very frustrating. Any suggestions?
I thought Straight Talk was an AT&T mvno.

I believe it is both. They use towers from Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile. I think that whatever your phone was on originally is the set of towers that it uses. I've seen APN settings with 410 and 260. IIRC 260 was the MNC that worked before.
There are posts all over xda that have apn settings. Best I can say is to search them out and try them.
It could be a cm issue though. They updated their radio files to work with kk modems and its caused lots of problems for people who have older ones.
