Display replacement.. Any bootloader protection?? - HTC One X

Hi there guys,
I've just completed a complete display replacement for an HTC One X of a friend of mine. Disassembled the phone perfectly, the phone was powered on. Replaced the new display, connected the digitizer, powered on, voilĂ  the screen worked perfectly while disassembled. Before putting the whole phone back into the white housing, I powered off the phone.
Reassembled the white casing, the phone was just like new, not even a scratch on it! (took me 2 hours!!). Now the problem: when I turned it back on at the HTC logo, it disappeared, the display wouldn't turn on anymore. Phone connected to the wifi, downloaded a couple of emails, even received a phone call, but the display was turning on!!! LED was operating fine, audio and usb as well, and also the wifi/3g antennas.
Disassembled the phone again, connected the old (broken glass) screen, and it doesn't turn on as well, not even with the old one!
What you could have happened?? The new display is original HTC, I wonder if the bootloader has some sort of protection: before turning it off then on everything was working fine!
Any ideas???
Thanks

no bootloader protection maybe you broke the cable between the mainboard and display!

Can't be: that cable is hard connected to the display, so every display has its own one. Even the broken display, when taking apart the phone, worked fine, and I didn't even touch its cable after that.. It's weird that even the old display doesn't work anymore!

Any Solution yet?
Have the same Problem here with a One X. Before the Replacement ( took 2 hours carefully worked.. ), the Touchscreen didn't react on Touch at the Middle of the Screen, now I have Coloured Strips on the Right Side of the Screen from Top to Bottom until the half of the Screen.
On the left Side it is Black but to the Middle more Grey, then a Line from Top to Bottom in Yellow and then the Coloured Stripes.
Sorry for my bad English, i'm long out of School and feel sad about the lost of this Beautiful Phones. :crying:

Screen died?

Last night I was out and during the night I pulled my desire z out of my pocket to find that the screen was dead, the soft touch buttons were still lit up and working but no display. I pulled the battery and tried to reboot and no luck, you can hear it booting and even unlock/receive calls and txts etc once it has booted up just the screen stays blank the whole time so have to do everything on feel.
Essentially does this just mean my screen has a hardware fault? is it worth trying to fix? I assume the only option would be to purchase a replacement screen and dissemble and reassemble it?
(warranty is not worth it as I live in New Zealand and would have to send my phone back to the UK where I bought it from, also I have dropped it quite a few times so probably voided anyway...)
Thanks in advance for any input
Does it never display anything? So not even a flash during boot or something?
Because then it is probably a hardware problem.
Since the soft touch buttons do still work I think there might be a little crack or something in the flat cable that connects the bottom half with the top.
Maybe you could check whether you can see if the cable is broken or not?
The best thing to do then is to look for a replacement and try to fix it yourself or bring it to a shop where they can do it for you.
No it never displays anything, completely dead the whole time. The touch input is still working though as I answered a phone call this morning on it by making the usual gesture just without being able to see anything. Doesnt seem to be anything wrong with the cable itself as far as I can see. Yea might have to get someone to have a look at it.
My phone is acting the same. I dropped my phone in the pond before, but pulled battery out on time and had it in rice for a day. My phone was still working for about two weeks after that incident. I dropped it and had one little crack at the top of the screen and about a week after that it died when I had a water balloon fight with the phone in my pocket. D;
Do any of you know if the replacement lcd screen/digitizer for the Desire Z would work for the G2?
I had the same thing happening to my G2 screen, only it was intermittently working for a little while, then just completely died and wouldn't work. It was doing this crazy flickering thing then the back light wouldn't go on at all. If I held the phone at a certain angle in the sun, I could see that the pixels were indeed working on the display, but there was no backlight to make them normally visible.
So I purchased a replacement screen from ebay and carefully followed the directions on a youtube video for a G2 take apart. Its not a hard task to take apart and get down to the screen itself. It was rather easy. After putting it back together the screen still didn't work! Sounds work, i can also receive calls etc. But the screen still doesn't work!
Is there any way that this could be a software issue?
Oh and PS, I believe the LCD replacement would work for both the desire Z and the G2. They are identical phones after all right? I'd say its a safe bet. The screen I bought was only 35 bucks. Didn't think that was a bad deal.
Another dead screen or something else?
Few days ago my phone fell of the couch onto a rug - no big deal, so far it has survived much worse, but when I picked it up, the colors were all messed up - overly green and red. Tried restarting - no luck. Everything worked fine, except the colors, but then the screen turned of completely. I could hear notifications, phonecalls, but the screen was dead. After some tapping on the screen, it turned on again - with ****ed up colors. Then started flickering and was gone again. Few more times I could turn it on by tapping before it was dead for good.
Figured, after all these drops it survived, maybe the screen connector is a bit loose. I mean, I could sometime get a contact when tapping it, so I dissasambled it completely, secured all the connection, put it all back tougether and fired up - same thing: dead screen, phone working.
Has anyone had such problem before? Is it screen that is dead, or connector or... I have no clue... I would like try to fix it on my own, with some replacement parts I could get on ebay - but, what gave?

I think I destroyed my HTC One X

Hey guys,
I think I destroyed my HTC One X. I just bought it a month ago from Ebay, and it worked flawless. At some point the display just turn off. I restarted the phone, heard the sound when it starts and even the softkeys worked. But the Display was still off. After after a few restarts the display turned on for a minute, just to freeze after that and turned off again. The phone was still on though.
However I've read a bit around and found out that it could be a cpu heat problem, which could be true because my phone was way too warm sometimes. So I removed the display and put a tiny little bit thermal compound on the cpu. Somehow I managed to rip off the connection cable to the display ... also I managed to rip off the little black cable near the soft keys. The soft keys still work though.
When I start the phone the starting sound comes, the softkeys blink when I restart the phone, you hear the volume buttons etc. So it seems the phone is fully working. Just the display or touchscreen is damaged.

So, what can I do?
Do you think I could just send it to this site http://www.directfix.com/product/REP-0063.html and let them repair it? Or did I destroyed my phone too much already?
Thanks in advance.
Well, the top cable is ripped off,you can't do anything at this point. The bottom one just seems out of slot as far as i can tell from the pics.
Basicaly you can send it to the repair shop, but i don't think that you can only change the cables, don't really know what to say...Could cost you some to repair it.
I don't want to only change the cables. I want to use this full repair service:
"HTC One X Complete Screen Replacement Service (Includes LCD & Digitizer)".
So they change the cables and put on a new LCD & Digitizer as far I understand.
But do you guys think they will put back the other cable back in slot too?
Please just answer, do you guys think they can repair it if they put on a new screen & digitalizer?
I don't see why not,you can also contact them and explain them the situation. Those cables are quite easy to put back with the proper tools so you don't have to worry about it.

[Q] LCD not working after screen replacement

I dropped and cracked my glass last week. Yesterday I had a guy replace the glass, and it worked fine afterwards for several hours. This morning when I woke up I find that the display won't turn on, though the touch buttons light up fine, and the glass is separated a little from the LCD. Actually, sometimes if I power off the phone for a few minutes then turn it back on, it the display will flash "SAMSUNG" for a second before going off as it boots.
So did the guy damage my LCD? Is it possible that it just has a loose connection or something?

Sounds like loose connection. I would go back to that guy and get him to fix it/take a look at it.

LCD screen keeps disconnecting.

I dropped my phone the other night onto a wooden floor, and the entire phone was still intact. But now the screen will sometimes just not turn on, but the bottom row of lights still turns on and I can unlock the phone and reset it. Sometimes the screen will work after resetting but then later glitch up. I have removed it from the case but couldn't get the LCD cable without feeling like it would break the phone. But there seems to be nothing wrong with the connection pins that I can view from the side.
Everywhere that I've rang to get repairs for it straight up says that it is a screen replacement, but I know that the LCD and digitizer still works and that the phone does turn on.
What's the best way to repair it?

[Q] Faulty screen or connector?

Crashed my bike last week and after this the screen on my note 2 wouldn't turn on, the buttons lit up and it received texts and FB messages.
Gave it to a repair shop the same day, in shop I saw him check the display flex cable and it was normal. He tried it with multiple screens and it wouldn't power on.
Got it back and at home, using the MHL cable I can work the phone through my TV, the touch still works as does the SPen.
The screen doesn't have any visible crack so I assume it's still fine.
When I crashed the phone was compressed on it's left side (pretty sure, could be right side). I found a post here suggesting the screen connector could have come off the motherboard, what do you guys think?
Video showing most of this.
