Are you flashing gapps?
I should have elaborated. My SMS messages all fail to send.

Are you referring to all text messages or just MMS (picture messaging)?
All text messages.

It works for a few minutes freshly after flashing then it just won't send messages anymore.

Figured it out on my own with logcat. Voice+ was causing the issue. As soon as I disabled it, everything worked. Hope this helps anyone else in my predicament.

On my ol' HTC TP2, the text messages showed the time when they were sent and when they were received. Any android app that does a similar job?

i use handcent and you can longpress the message you sent and click on message details. it shows the date and time...not sure about the received times
Stock does.
GoSMS does as well. I like it because it also has a built in backup/restore function so when I see a new ROM in the Dev section and the flash-aholic in me makes me download and try it I have an easy way to put back the SMS messages which are otherwise lost in the flashing process...
Thanks for replying. I am using GoSMS and I can find out when a message was sent. This should an option you can turn on to display permanently. Stock doesn't seem to do it, unless I am not seeing an option somewhere.

I am having problems with go SMS and hand cent and crunch SMS getting able to send Mms. The stock app works fine but all the aftermarket ones can't send messages. I am on nexus4 on att. Any suggestions?

Its an Android 4.2 issue, couldn't get Handcent or Chomp to work on my GNex either. Interesting thing I found is if I use Handcent to start a text to a group I have set up then delete Handcent and finish the MMS with the stock app I get an error like "You are not authorized for this service" this is on Straight Talk At&t. If I add each person individually with the stock app the MMS goes through.

Hey I got this to work today. Turns out you have to type your MMS APN settings manually into the SMS app, as I guess they no longer can access the settings themselves.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Not sure exactly what youa re referring to in the app? Can you post a screenshot? Are you creating a seperate APN for SMS/MMS?
Thanks in advance.

So there are numerous posts and questions on how to get sprint visual voicemail working with miui or aosp roms.
For the life of me I can't get it to work no matter what method I use.
Can someone please help who has successfully got it working on there rom please reply with the exact steps you used.
Would really like to figure out the proper method on this.

Once you have it installed, click the mic icon up top on the right, record whatever(background noise is fine) then click send and send it to [email protected] this will provision the voicemail so that it works. You will receive annoying texts from 9016 everytime you get a new voicemail but using the spam block settings in you messaging app will hide/block them
I like to break stuff!
I have tried that numerous times. All I get is a bunch of 9016 messages but no voicemail ever comes through.

That's weird. Have you tried making a backup in titanium backup of it working on a tw rom and then restoring the app and data on miui?

That's gonna be my next option.

Anyone else have any other method you used and have VVM successfully working?

Unfortunately it doesn't work properly on every rom, because if 9016 texts get blocked to the phone completely, then vvm never receives the message, vvm has to receive these messages in order to function. The rom I'm running has a blacklist option that allows me to block 9016 from messaging app only, keeping 9016 coming through to phone, which vvm then picks up perfectly. Their are apps to do this, but some block it totally, which is not what you want.

Was wondering if there was a fix or way to enable the sending and receiving of animated gifs in texts for the Note II. I can download and view them in my gallery just fine but when I go to send and/or receive them I just get a still picture. I can send and receive them just fine on my EvoLTE but not on my Note. Is it something manufacturer specific to HTC phones or something that just needs to be enabled?
Thats weird I get them all the time and the move..... I send them too and they work!!!!!

What ROM are you using? I'm on NoWizAOSP and its not working for me. I'm thinking it has something to do with the stock Android MMS app that the ROM uses as opposed to Samsung's. I would try and push the Samsung app back but it doesn't support emoji.

So you think it's the MMS app? I tried Handcent and it still didn't work. I'm thinking it's the stock Android MMS.apk that is doing it.
Stock Gallery app will show animated gifs. You may need to save them first.

Yeah the gallery is fine. Its when I send or receive them in a text that the problem starts. I and the person who gets it only receives a still picture. Now I can send the same animated gif from my EvoLTE and the person gets it animated and when they send it back so do I. But when sent to and from my Note II, even to and from my LTE it doesn't work.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Xparent Skyblue Tapatalk 2
I also encounter the same problem and the only solution I found was to save the gif as a video and then attaching it while in goSms cause stock mms app doesn't allow large files attached. They'll receive it as a vid but at least thats something

Got my one the day after release day from Verizon. I've been noticing a couple little bugs going on with the messaging app and want to see if anyone else is having the issues. Friend of mine has the phone to and he seems to be issue free.
The first issue is when hanging up a call, I often get a " unfortunately messages has stopped". No idea what's causing it but it's happening Pretty frequently.
The second one is hard to explain but I'll do my best. A few times while messaging multiple people individually, it some how puts the full message that I just sent right back into the text field. Almost like I never sent it but I did. Ends up saving the message as a draft so I have to erase it. I haven't figured out the exact steps to make this happen but if I do, I'll post it here.
Anyone else having these weird issues?

Not sure if this will help you, but I had imported my old messages into the new phone during setup using the HTC app (I forget what it's called). Messaging was messed up when I started using the new phone. I deleted all messages and cleared the messaging app cache. All perfect since then.
