Hello everyone around, today I exchanged devices, got my 2nd Nexus and joined the GNex community Hope I can be of any help to you later, but now I need some help:
Both GNex and Nexus 4 have indicator LEDs that can handle "breathe" actions. However, GNex doesn't come with native battery charging indication while Nexus 4 does (Samsung, why?). What I want is that the LED "breathes" when on low battery, charging or full, and (optional but much needed) these LED behaviors should persist even when the screen is unlocked, just like what I got on a standard Nexus 4. I've searched around the web and:
1) Light Flow is said to work, but won't even light up my LED in test mode.
2) Light Manager does its job when screen is first locked, but the LED will turn off once I unlock the screen. Furthermore, if I unlock the screen, pull down the notification drawer and then unlock, the LED won't light up even though I'm still plugged in
3) A third app (I forgot its name) is said to work well, but is reported to fail since 4.3.
Now I'm outta ideas... I am an active flasher and GNex is a secondary device so it has to be on the latest CM - I can't downgrade to 4.2.x just for this LED. I'll definitely appreciate it if you have any app to suggest that can realize what I described above (I can stand having no LEDs when screen on, but it has to work perfectly when screen off).
Thanks for reading this and have a nice day.

Can I have it with a third party app instead of a ROM? Not trying to sound stubborn, but I don't flash anything other than official CM and AOSPA.

Thanks for the heads-up! I gave another go at Light Flow and after careful settings, it sure works better than Galaxy Nexus LED. More customization and the ability to make LED stay on rather than "breathing".
However, I've searched around in the app but didn't find the place where I can set the LEDs to light even when screen is on - could you kindly point out what option and where it is? I'm on the latest version of the app.

Uh, bump this issue? Google told me that the LED couldn't be on because of a restriction in the OS, but then how is it done?

It is a restriction because they made it so, that's how.

...But why @mrgnex claim it so? And from what I heard, this is an OS-level restriction instead of a hardware one, but on a Nexus 4, the charging lights persist when screen on, indicating that this restriction isn't hardcoded into the OS... I'm confused :what:

The API is there, vanilla Android doesn't have the options to do it. Think, how could lightflow work if the support wasn't there?

So my Nexus has burn in. Nothing new there on an AMOLED based screen. However, the other four Nexus I've seen that are more than a month old have the same issues as mine.
My question is simply this: how many of you who have a Nexus have burn in? Please include age of Nexus and when you first noticed burn in, if possible, as I'm looking to put together an objective look at time between purchase and initial occurrence.
If you are using color mods, please mention that as well.
Thanks.

I'm like...mega OCD about screen-burn.
I don't even enable my nav bar %95 of the time.
It's only open when I'm going to need the back button repeatedly as I change settings or something.
So annoying having to do that to keep your screen looking decent =[
I also use the full-screen browser option to minimize status bar burn (as I'm primarily in my browser during use).
No burn yet though!
Phone is a few months old now.
And the only color mod that will hurt your screen is the color multipliers...
Which I leave at default.

I got no burn in at all - I've had the screen since launch but the internals are new-ish. (washed my first one on accident so bought a new one, swapped my original screen in since it was much better quality ) Stock everything except rooted and leaked 4.0.4 ROM. I don't leave my screen on unattended though.
I have major burn in, even from my keyboard being up.
Really sucks and makes me sad.
May try a burn in reversal app on the market, if it works i'll make a fullscreen version for us nexus users
If the burn-in is that bad, wouldn't you be able to have the phone replaced under warranty?
Is it really that bad? :O
I bought my Gnex three days ago and I use the phone quite a lot, so that'll probably happen soon.

Roll around in a white screen for 3 minutes at a higher brightness.

Resetted, battery removed and all troubleshooting) had to completely factory data resetted. I'm with the guy over me... Just flash a different ROM, see if it helps... Just bought my galaxy nexus off of somebody on craigslist, and I absolutely love it coming from an htc amaze 4g. This phone is lightning quick and extremely responsive. I can see grain because of the pentile, and also have the purple issue when brightness is low as well as incredibly low speaker. I'm kinda worried about the limited 16Gb internal memory. Other than that, I prefer this phone over my friends S3!! I love this phone!!!!! My first Samsung! Nice to meet you all! Any suggestions and apps u guys would recommend? I

Only 1 hour?? Most people here get 3 to 4 hours screen on time, some I've seen even 5. You should go ahead and root it and install a custom kernel so you can adjust the color settings to fix that purple tint issue

You should be able to get longer than that with the screen on. Are you switching everything on at the same time? e.g. GPS, wireless, LTE (perhaps?), or perhaps having emails sync every minute... Even if it's heavy gaming you're doing you should get longer than that.

Lol no guys. If anything I would probably get 90 minutes maximum screen on time on my HTC amaze. the battery life on that phone was the worst I've seen in my life. Auto sync off, brightness at 10% , mobile data off, and just some texting.
Also I was thinking of flashing a either kernel, but the phone is perfect the way it is lol. What are other benefits from custom kernel?

You can change the color profile with a custom kernel to get rid of the purple tint. You can also undervolt and underclock for better battery life. You can overclock too, but the CPU is more than enough @stock for most tasks
First thing I'd check out is Jubakuba's sticky in the Q&A forum, all about unlocking boot loader, rooting, flashing ROMs, etc. Big timesaver is just flash bigxie's 4.1.1 ROM which is rooted, with busybox, gapps, and deodexed. Trinity kernel will let you adjust color, boost volume, and overclock (or underclock to save battery). People also like Franco's kernel. Another good flashable mod is Thyrus's Nav bar w/menu button, which also gives you expanded power-off menu with reboot and recovery options. (Does require deodexed ROM so won't work on stock). And you might want to try a replacement launcher like Nova or Apex.
Or you might just want to enjoy the stock Jellybean experience for a while before modding. Have fun.
Thanks for the responses guys!! I read around and I see I have to use Odin? I'm more of a fast boot command prompt type of guy lol . I'm scared to mess up nexus :/ is performance better with custom kernels? Oh boy I'm going to have do tons of reading!!! Lol.

Okay so the title is misleading but please continue reading.
I have a sprint galaxy nexus and love it. The one thing is that when I have the brightness on half full or full I run into an issue. If I open an app like play store and for the quick second it loads on a gray screen I can see outlines of my home screen. When I ran kernels it was more visible but on stock I can still see the 4.2 clock widget outline. Its like a ghost image or bleed image.
Is this normal? Does anyone have any information of what this could be and solutions?
I tried searching but I don't know the correct term so its difficult.
Thanks.

Your screen has a burnt in image. Its fairly common with phones with OLED displays so don't worry.
this thread may help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1394358
even though it says that image retention is "not OK" i would say that if the retention doesnt last for more than 5 seconds you should be ok, i sometimes get a bit of it too but it goes away fast

This. Image ghosting is just part of the SAMOLED display.
such gost image is mostly because of software issue but as u said u have tried custom rom as well as stock rom even though the problem is der...
so mostly its a hardware issue to be more specific, the ghost image is formed when ur processor is overheated..
have u tried overclocking ur processor ? dat might be the main reason..
if your phone is under warrenty den solution for that is flash the official stock firmware and go to service centre.
or else u r out of warrenty den just ignore it...but be sure not to overclock it ..

I flashed Franco kernel over rasbean and left it untouched and the colors were more vivid but the burnt image was much more visible. But on stock its just the clock because its bright white and the faded image is less than 1 second.
I bought the phone off eBay. I got the original box with serial but idk if I can claim warranty.
I haven't over clocked the device because the 1.2 g dual core is blazing fast when coming from a 1 g single core.
Any other inputs? Im just confused if this is normal, hardware, software.

That seems normal as long as its not showing when above like 30% brightness.
Sometimes vertical lines show up to some degree (banding) some of the custom ROMs including CyanogenMod have a feature that reduces the issue.
I myself have an issue with horizontal lines burned into the screen at any brightness. I think it was from turning the color values up to the max even though I didn't keep it high for that long. I've considered sending it into Samsung service center to get the screen replaced, except doesn't the repair process take weeks?

I had the issue with the Beautiful Widgets weather clock widget. I found no other solution but to turn the widget off until the problem is fixed.
Was it working for you before 4.2? I find that the GPS for this phone is just plain brutal (or maybe mine is just defective). It usually takes a few min to lock on then when it does and I start driving, it starts jumping all over the map.

It's probably not Android itself but one of the background apps/widgets that causes the issue due to incompatibility with 4.2. In my case it was Beautiful Widgets.
it is Samsungs thing.. Pretty sure! i've had 4 Samsung phones and all of them have this bug.
Droid Charge at the end of it's life 6 month Just Forgot out about GPS
S2 also also had Problems
S2 Skyrocket gave up on locking after ICS release
Galaxy Nexus stopped locking GPS after 4.2
First 3 phones started to have problems after recent updates. As well as Nexus// But i'm pretty sure carriers phones could have been messed up by Carrier software or Samsungs itself buy i'm not sure why Nexus is having this issue.
