[Q]Galaxy Nexus Burn-In - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

So my Nexus has burn in. Nothing new there on an AMOLED based screen. However, the other four Nexus I've seen that are more than a month old have the same issues as mine.
My question is simply this: how many of you who have a Nexus have burn in? Please include age of Nexus and when you first noticed burn in, if possible, as I'm looking to put together an objective look at time between purchase and initial occurrence.
If you are using color mods, please mention that as well.
Thanks.

I'm like...mega OCD about screen-burn.
I don't even enable my nav bar %95 of the time.
It's only open when I'm going to need the back button repeatedly as I change settings or something.
So annoying having to do that to keep your screen looking decent =[
I also use the full-screen browser option to minimize status bar burn (as I'm primarily in my browser during use).
No burn yet though!
Phone is a few months old now.
And the only color mod that will hurt your screen is the color multipliers...
Which I leave at default.

I got no burn in at all - I've had the screen since launch but the internals are new-ish. (washed my first one on accident so bought a new one, swapped my original screen in since it was much better quality ) Stock everything except rooted and leaked 4.0.4 ROM. I don't leave my screen on unattended though.

I have major burn in, even from my keyboard being up.
Really sucks and makes me sad.
May try a burn in reversal app on the market, if it works i'll make a fullscreen version for us nexus users

If the burn-in is that bad, wouldn't you be able to have the phone replaced under warranty?

Is it really that bad? :O
I bought my Gnex three days ago and I use the phone quite a lot, so that'll probably happen soon.

My nexus is now on its 2nd day and I noticed on low brightness if I make the whole screen white I can see faint burn in from the status bar and navigation bar.
Can this be reversed or should I consider returning it for replacement?

Ick.
No way.
Roll around in a white screen for 3 minutes at a higher brightness.
It'll go away.

Would a stuck pixel rgb alternating screen help if I were to run it overnight while charging?

If and when my screen "burns-in", it would still be good for daily use, right? Is it something that would bother me much? I have this phone on a two-year contract and would hate having it fail me halfway.

Well it would be but it would definitely hurt the experience some.

The blobs that everyone donated for was clearly a possible hardware issue which means that nobody would be able to fix it without mods made by hand. At best all he could do was look into it. Its not his fault people paid for a new phone just to look into it.
The whole situation is analogous to if Samsung released a new phone where a quarter of them had bad search buttons. It could be a software issue but likely a hardware problem with QA. Instead of exchanging the phone people then proceeded to setup a bounty to buy a new phone to get this fixed. Its looked into and it turns out its just a bad solder connecting the search button. This would of been likely in the first place and people should of just exchanged their phone rather than setting up a bounty for something which has a fair likelihood of being a hardware issue.
You have a hardware issue then exchange your phone.
If the blobs bother you exchange your phone. If the blobs only bother you when you have to follow a page of instructions on how to see it, really. If you need to follow a multi step guide to see it then its not that big of a deal. If it is then exchange your phone.
Just curious...
Anyone play the game Osmos....that will really show off your lines and blobs if you play it in a low light enviornment or at night.

SAMOLED burn-in - anyone else had warranty issues?

I've sent my Galaxy Nexus off for screen replacement twice now - both times, the Samsung UK repair centre in Norwich has said there is no fault found.
It's really not that hard to miss - I have a large area of different colours where the navigation bar lives compared to the rest of the screen. It makes landscape video watching quote annoying.
Has anyone else had problems getting out replaced? Mine was just 11 months old when I first sent it off, back in March. This time around, it was marked as repaired and awaiting delivery on the 10th April - I called today to find out what's happening with it, only to be told it was still on the premises.
Not really the service standards I'd hoped for - the handset was over £500 when I got it.

burn in is normal. this has been beaten into the ground already.
use the search.
I know it happens, though I'd hoped using the pentile display would've eliminated the problems they had with the Galaxy S and S2. My question was has anyone else had issues getting the display swapped when under a year old?
I think at this age, it's a premature failure. Am I mistaken?
Thanks,

No, far from it. Screen is always set to automatic brightness, with 30 second time-out. It's never been left on overnight, used as a sat-nav, or streamed vast amounts of TV or anything like that.
This is why I'm so annoyed - I don't mistreat it. And a phone of this calibre should remain defect-free for longer than 11 months, surely...

This. It happens. I never leave my screen on for more than 2 minutes, unless I'm watching a video, which then the status bar and navbar are hidden.
So it just happens, unfortunately.

Screen smearing issue!

I have searched t-mobile galaxy s4 quiet extensively, and didn't see anything addressing this issue, my apologies if I blindly skipped a thread talking about this. I wanted to know how many people are dealing with this screen smearing problem on their t-mobile galaxy s4, if there are only few I'm going to consider getting a replacement. Thank you.
there is no such topic on the t-mo version, but there is a 42 page thread about this on the int'l version, link below fyr. also, i have that problem along with some lags here and there as well, but not too bad that makes me wanna exchange for a new unit though. the camera shutter lag is what bothers me though.

yes mine does it too, its probably a issue in all the s4
I had noticed this in the first couple of days of using my S4 but now it seems to be gone. Had it for 6 days.
You can fix this issue by installing an app called screen adjuster, then setting the contrast to -7. This will eliminate true black (pixels will be illuminated as they were on the GS3), but will fix the smearing issue until Samsung pushes a fix (which may do the same thing).
Every s4 I have looked at has the smearing issue. I returned mine today and didn't bother to get another. I figure, hey if I'm going to shell out hundreds of dollars to a multi billion dollar corporation, then I want that product to work 100%
Smearing happens with any grey on black image. Try this. Google images "grey on black" then open them in gallery and zoom in. Move the image around and sometimes the screen even goes crazy and puts out white and black lines!! Yeah smearing can be "mostly" fixed via an app to turn down contrast. But why should we have to??? :banghead:

Downloading "screen adjuster" and setting the contrast to -30 fixes it but why do we have to do that with our brand new phones.
There is a new kernel that apparently fixes the smearing on the International S4, you can find that info here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2252445&page=60 I'm wondering if there will be a fix for this TM version. I can live with that "purple haze" but sometimes is hard to see text while scrolling on dark backgrounds.

[Q] Burn in.

Obviously burn in sucks but in this use it seems to be what I need. Recently I decided to use expanded desktop and notice my status bar plus navbar are burnt in.. But out of the strange the burn in has in fact made the screen show true white or whatever you want to call the horrible screen for the nexus too.
Basically is it possible to burn in the entire screen? I was thinking about pushing a black screen on full brightness for about a day. I've got use to the nexus screen but still it would be nice to have a working color screen.
Has anyone else tried this? Have you noticed this? Did it take long for the burn in? Does it repair itself?

Screen problem on our gnex

Screen burn. Typical on Super AMOLEDs.
Sent from Google Nexus 4 @ CM11
Yet another reason to use extended desktop mode ALL THE TIME.
W/an PIE control.
Eg:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jun.ace.piecontrolpro
Try this, hit button Repair, but for about 30 seconds max (there is a risk of invert burn), then check burn again. In case repeat process.
It helped little for me.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bengigi.screen.diagnostic&hl=cs
Are you sure that he needs only 30 seconds to repair the display?
People says that you have to leave it on for about 8-9 hours..
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
I left it for 2 minutes and I had burned icons, insted of bluish bar.
You can repeat this process, but I do not recommend leave it 8 hours.
I am not sure about the time, try it yourself, but watch out, you can make it even worse.
Maybe using expanded desktop for plenty of weeks would make better job.
Nah, been using expanded desktop for months now and it's not going away. I think the blue burns out faster than the other colors on this screen and that's why it looks bluish compared to the rest of the screen - the blue on the rest of the screen has dimmed over time while the edges have a stronger blue since it's not been used as much. I'm definitely going to avoid AMOLED in the future.
About AMOLED you are right, but every "better" screen than simple TFT is avoidable. ISP on my N7 after year and half is getting yellowish tint around edges... On my old Optimus One was display same after 2 years of usage.
Both devices are still under warranty, so I request for screen replacement, but what about future? I dont want to pay for new display every year...
I think that the pixels on amoled displays starts burning beacuse the pixel on the navbar and statusbar are permanently black..so they aren't used and they don't start damaging..the color that the amoled starts to show by far is yellow...so if we leave screen during night showing a yellow image, the screen comes back to the original colors??
P.s.: sorry for my bad english

In Malaysia, I could. Had to convince Samsung that my screen is bad. I basically showed them a couple of pictures (one of them being Browser's error page) and my phone was full with horizontal gray lines. Then the customer service counter asked me to send those pictures to her phone and she saw it was perfect on her phone. Then she allowed my phone to have a screen replacement.
I had screen replacements twice for my phone. And it took a few days to a week to have the screen replaced but that depends on your luck and country I guess.

If 100% transparent it definitely will reduce the probability of burn-in in these areas.
