[ROM] MrNerd's Stock ZVC - Sprint LG Optimus G

Due to my Charger port being unable to connect to computers I'm going to have to upload to Google Drive then download it to my phone then flash it. So I'll be flashing this as soon as it's done uploading and links will be posted as soon as all the errors are fixed.Plain Jane Rom
Nothing added
Nothing removed
ZVC
This rom DOES updates radios and patches all the needed files.
I only made it for people that like plain stock roms like myself.
I DID NOT REMOVE OR ADD ANYTHING ITS MORE OF A BASE ROM

Yes you flash this in cwm or twrp just like any other rom nothing special about this at all its just the newest ZVC update
It's a stock zvc rom and why do you need a screen shot of a stock ROM?

Didn't work for me, I'm still ZVB and now can't boot into recovery.
Tried installing goomanager and using to install recovery, and that doesn't work either

Update question, jelly bean

I currently on ics stock phone but rooted so I can delete bloat. I am currently downloading jelly bean from samsungs website. http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SGH-T999 . I don't want to brick my phone or anything and I am not sure about how to go about this. What is the best way to go about this? Can I just simply open odin and load jelly bean in there and install? How should I go about this? Thanks in advance.
Also when I get jelly bean on will my cwm files work or do I need to wait for a new version to come out?
Flash the stock rooted version:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1991255
Otherwise you'll need to flash back to stock. Then update
You can't update with a custom recovery like cwm.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
I think thats already what I got. I don't have any custom roms or anything. Just stock with root for my current setup. 4.0.4. Can I just upgrade straight to jelly bean then without wiping my data?
In your second post you mention your cwm files. Do you have a custom recovery?
How did you root might be a better question?
Just rooted you can update, but will probably lose root
If you have clockwork (cwm) or twrp recovery the update won't flash
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
The way I rooted was using the method zedomax posted. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1735561
I did find an article that I think is the answer im looking for. Right now I got odin putting the stock out of the box software back on.
How did you get Odin to do that? I have CWM installed and everytime I reboot the phone (Home, Vol Up, Power) CWM comes up but Odin doesn't recognized the phone as being connected. It will only recognize my phone when it's booted normally into Android.
All I did was follow the steps in the 2nd link I posted. It worked and I just did an update through the settings menu.

It should, though I would recommend a different way.
You can get the root66 firmware from the FW thread linked in my sig. Its just the stock fw, but prerooted.
Flash it via odin and youre done!
If you dont want to mess with the fw you can use the method you posted, but id get up to date files first.
I havent watched it in some time but I think you can get most of what you need from the fw thread, post 2. If you need help finding something else just let us know.

Just use these. Your phone will upgrade to it anyway. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2536636
But I think for your purpose, use LGNPST with the zvc bin. You'll find the link to the bin in the root guide.

Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear enough. The stock rooted ZVC is what I'm already running (flashed from CWM with an unlocked bootloader). There's a bug where you try to charge when the phone is completely turned off, the screen turns on draining battery and preventing you from charging at full speed. I understand this could be fixed by a) flashing an AOSP-based ROM or b) if you want to use stock rooted, stick with the original bootloader/recovery. So, I'm trying to figure out if I can just flash boot.img and recovery.img on top of the stock rooted ZVC, and get the charging to work properly.
I found what I thought I needed in shelnutt's files-- he has the Sprint backup img's. But when I dd'd them over, my phone won't boot now. So I will probably have to LGNPST the whole zvc bin and start over. Oh well.

You can root your phone, but you can't flash ANY ROM unless you unlock the booloader/recovery.
If restoring FreeGee unlock didn't work for you then you need to use LGNPST to get stock recovery back. It should also fix your charging issue.

Flashed the whole ZVC bin with LGNPST, rerooted and got what I wanted. I didn't lose data or have to start from scratch like I was afraid of, and it's easy enough to unlock with freegee if I ever want to flash roms again in the future. Thanks for your help/encouragement.

Root issues (moved from Virgin rom as requested) Help

I am trying to upgrade my Virgin ROM to the 9.12 build but get a fail upon trying to flash it. The background.... I'm using TWRP recovery and have tried the chainfire root method. Here are the results:
As you can see you can see some conflicting information... all shots were taken in sequence. I'm thinking the fail in twrp is coming from the system not having root but the info is telling me otherwise....

Do you have the latest SuperSU version?
I'm a little lost at what you are saying.
You flashed a rom, and it said fail, and you think it has to do with Root?
If you have TWRP installed it doesn't matter if you are rooted or not. It's going to over right the system partition regardless if you have root or not.
So it's either a bad download or bad transfer for it to fail.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk 4
I do have the latest SU version by chain fire. And maybe I'm doing something wrong the because I am running the virgin gpe ROM now and that flashed in twrp with no issues. Now when I go to install (after wiping) and select the 9.12 update that I downloaded it hangs on trying to open the zip and fails... I haven't changed any twrp settings but in the write options of twrp what boxes should be checked because system is not by default... Thanks for the replies!

If all else fails, just start from scratch, get stock UVUAMDL tar, flash it with Odin, make sure to do a factory wipe after you flash it, sometimes bootloops occur if you don't. You don't even have to go past the first screen where you pick the language. Just shut it down from there and boot into download mode and root with Chainfire with Odin, then shut down and boot up again into download mode again and flash custom recovery tar of ur choice with Odin. Then download whatever custom rom zip and install it via custom recovery.

heyyy saw your reply in my thread.
just as @byron1985 suggested there, it sounds like you got a bad download. the flashing scripts are essentially exactly the same from previous version. the flashing process has absolutely zero to do with SuperSU.
edit: re-read. so you've verified the download. if you had success with CWM previously, i would go back to that. i do not use TWRP.

[ROM]ZVC Stock Rooted ROM Flashable Zip

This is a Plain Stock ODEXED Rooted ZVC ROM. It has Root and Qualcom app removed. If you need the ZVC radio, get it from HERE
Must have unlocked bootloader.
In TWRP, factory reset, then wipe /system, /cache, /dalvic, and /data. (Do not wipe internal data, /data/media - that's your SD.)
When it boots up, turn off Wifi. For some reason it always turns itself on when first booted up.
Then go to Settings>System Updates and update Profile, PRL.
Then Settings>Activate this device.
____________________________________________________________________________
New March 2 2014
New ZVC with all LG markings, kernel also. Only difference is it's rooted. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO UPDATE, unless you want to. With this, if you re-lock and then remove root, you will have a factory looking phone.
It is also zipaligned

Thanks for this! I've been having endless problems getting ANYTHING to bring my device past a bootload screen or recovery. This managed to get through successfully and load (no data, but phone calls were OK) However it would constantly reboot anytime I altered settings. This, I believe is due to whatever issue it is I am having with the phone, and not this ROM. I was just pleased to find a original stock rom and actually see an OS on my phone (however brief it may have been)
I should also mention I had to sideload this as it was the only method available in my current situation. After a reboot it hung on the LG screen for a solid 20 minutes or so before moving onto the Sprint 4GLTE and then Android itself.
This upload at least gave me hope that no other rom had yet to achieve (that my phone's emmc or internal memory is just fried?!
Either way. Thanks again for your efforts

Odexed. The short and sweet..Odexed Roms are like from the factory. Deodexed is for theming. Neither one needs to hook to your computer. Odexed Roms are harder to modify/theme. Hope that helps you decide.

An unmodified, deodexed, ROM will boot up slower. Not quite sure on this part, but, it has something to do with how Deodexed isn't cached like odex, so it makes it a little slower.
If you're looking for the most stock experience, odexed will run like factory.
Sent from my LG-LS970 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
My anal-ness made me do this. And thanks to Shabbypenguin and xboxfanj, I got what I wanted.
What is different in this version is the kernel is straight from the ROM. So this Rom will have ALL the markings of stock. Kernel included. If you install this, relock your phone and un-root, it'll look like factory.
Also added is a flashable zip for the LG Stock Kernel. All LG Markings.
When I get time, I'll update the Deodexed version.
EDIT. You DO NOT have to use this if you downloaded a prior one. Unless you want to.
EDIT2. I forgot to mention, I did zipalign this version
Another, and the main reason I made this, is that this would be like a simple version of LGNPST. IT WILL NOT REPLACE LGNPST. But it may help to fix simpler problems.
For instance:
Flash ZVC modem in OP
While still in recovery flash ROM
Voila! ZVC ALMOST like LGNPST
You the man bro!

No. You'll still have root and you'll still be unlocked. You have to be both to flash it.
This'll just return everything to a bone stock rooted/unlocked phone.

Well I learned a lesson just now on how I should really step out of original dev thread more often and check this one out. I literally just finished lgnpst -_-. But my problem isn't fixed so I'm downloading anyway. Great job, this is needed more than people may realize.

ZV8 to ZVA Modified OTA (Flash in TWRP)

Thanks to everyone working on the OTA, such as Savoca and Autoprime checking the OTA status.
The ZVA update has a lot of good and some bad things. I've "tinkered" with Samsung OTAs before and gotten them to flash but there was always a problem with Sprint's Chameleon implementation on Samsung that caused things not to behave the same when flashing the modified zip.
Fortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case with LG. :good:
So here are two ZIPs for your use. Use at your discretion and as usual, I give my standard disclaimer: Your phone, your flash, your responsibility.. not mine.

Why two versions? Both skip recovery and revert aboot image so that Loki can still work.
But during first set of tests I received an assert error on magazines.odex.
If you get this try the second one, in which I removed that assert and update.
If you get a build.prop assert error on the second you'll want to try and find yourself a stock version and flash again.
For me I had to do the TOT again to get it to work.
Now the other bits of information:
1) Both remove the device assert because TWRP doesn't use that model ID. So make sure you only use this on the SPRINT model.
2) I do recommend taking a backup before as I had some funky results after the update. One time system disappeared... another time took especially long to restart. After doing a second time it does seem to be working properly. So may not hurt to back up right after flashing the zip so that you have a good copy of ZVA to work off of.
3) You can stay rooted and you do not need to re-root afterwards. The first time I got a prompt from SuperSU to update the su binary, but not the second time. In either case root was not checked during OTA so you don't need to mess with it.
Any questions feel free to let me know. Again thanks to all and enjoy!

I want to also caution one thing at the moment. Those wanting to keep using AOSP ROMs should not flash ZVA at the moment.
At the moment it's causing a boot loop and several of us are trying to figure out what the cause is.
Awesome! Testing this now, I'll post my own results too.

One other precaution because it seems a person just bricked testing radio packages...
Don't be a hero. If it's acting up, go back to recovery and restore a backup or flash the ZV8 TOT.
Updates are cool and everyone wants it, but it's not worth bricking over.

Only question I can come up with is should folks be on stock rooted ODEX rom before doing this or is ANY rooted ODEX/DEODEX rom ok? If you don't know one way or the other, what where you on when you did it?
I am "assuming" by the stock statement you meant stock odex rom but figured I'd ask just to make it crystal clear for all. As we've seen in the last 24hr, crystal clear is very much needed.
Thanks!
Any chance this will for stock based ROMs?

@garwynn do you have the stock build.prop from the zv8 update? not the one from the stock rooted rom.

If you have debloated the ROM, it probably won't work. I ended up flashing the TOT (pure stock) to get it to flash.

Sorry, didn't pull it before I flashed. Really should have.
If I flash it again today I'll pull it.

Sorry, didn't clarify the second. I tried stock odex ROM and didn't work. That's why I went the TOT route.
Wasn't able to flash. I got a bunch of asset errors.

yes stock rom with twrp
Flashed from stock rom with TWRP 2.6.3.3 using testupdate.zip with no issues. Did not need to use update 2.
If someone that has NOT ran this yet could, please post or PM me their build.prop from the stock + TWRP rom before doing the update?
Thanks:good::good:
